Based on 1 year's data from Feb 15, 2026 How it works
I just replaced a 2017 Acer 38" Acer XR382CQK (which happens to be 24x10) and a 2008 Dell 27" 2709w (also 16x10) with a Samsung Neo 57". My use is productivity only though. I liked the 14.5" screen height they both had, but the 38: was 3840x1600 and the 27" (since it's from '08) could only push 1920x1200. That started getting hard on the eyes. The Neo 57" screen display screen is 51" (straight across not accounting for the curve) x 15.5" high. My old setup did have a few inched of extra width, but the bezels are now gone, and I have consistent resolution across the screen. So, there is that. Sounds like your current setup may also be wider than the Neo. 1. I saw a video by a Brit that mentions an app that does that. Look for something in the title about reviewing after owning for a year or something like that. 2. Yes, mini-LED is more contrasty, but your panel may experience some blooming. Mine has some on a black screen but when the desktop or an image is being displayed I don't see it. BTW my 77" LG C9 has some blooming too, but again, when an image is being displayed, you don't see it. 3. I can't comment on missing G-Sync because gaming isn't my use. But I can say that surprisingly, integrated intel UHD 770 drives it just fine at 7680x2160 although recommended is 5120x1440. I end up throw in a b570 or b580 just to get the recommended resi. up to the monitors capabilities. A higher refresh rate than 59.99Hz would likely be a bit easier on the eyes too. Of course, I don't need to say to use certified cables (either by VESA or HDMI). 4. The inevitable cutting-edge tech question. Particularly with monitors, no don't wait. If you can swing the purchase without being handcuffed to a 25% interest credit card, just do it. IMHO, it's possible an OLED could appear. But remember, something of this size is still pretty niche and OLED is the worse of the three screen types for text. My thought is the 57" screen is kinda impractical to ever go mainstream (lots of desk space needed, uses a giant stand or a HD mounting arm need, etc.) so an OLED may be a long wait. Maybe keep the box so you can ship it by bus to the next guy should an OLED show up a few years from now and you have to have it. UPS freight would be crazy for a big box like this.
Well, I really splurged this week didn't I. Hadn't built a PC in 11 years, decided to build one. Did the 9800X3D, a 5080 card, 64 gb ram, etc... I really liked my Acer 38" wide screen 75hz that I have had since 2019. I have been using that for my software dev work in a split screen fashion and have been very happy with it. I knew with the new rig I needed higher refresh rate, so I really just wanted the equivalent to my Acer 38" but with higher refresh. I really like the 1600px height vs 1440 on most of the other wide screens. The only thing I found that fit that criteria was the newer LG 38" IPS wide screen which has a nice native 144hz refresh rate. Then best buy had a sale on the 45" 5k2k monitor recently..... 165hz refresh rate, high res, and ever so slightly bigger than my current monitor. An upgrade in every facet and only 300 more dollars than the 38" IPS LG monitor I was 50/50 on buying anyway. I YOLO'd into it two days ago and finally had time to set it up today... I am absolutely blown away with how amazing this monitor is. At first the curve was jarring, but I got used to it very quickly. I absolutely love this thing and I can't even step away from my PC now, it is that damn good of an experience. The only issue is the 5080 really can't drive a lot of games at high settings. I had to turn a lot of settings down to get good framerate. DLSS does help a lot though. But tomorrow I am returning it and picking up a very basic 5090 card that also went on sale at microcenter. Yeah more $$$, but I am a buy once, cry once type of person. I know if I can't experience this monitor as it's meant to, I will always think about upgrading that card anyway. PICTURES DONT DO IT JUSTICE. It looks washed out with my iPhone. The color and graphics are incredible. I felt like I was actually my character in Diablo 4, it was so immersive.
The new lg oled 45 would be perfect for you! Im on an acer 38 (same panel i think) going to get the bendable lg 45 once it comes out and is reasonably priced
I have the exact same acer 38" ultrawide. Just upgraded to the samsung 57 last month. I've placed the acer above the samsung as an additional screen.
I've been using a 38-inch UW for 7 years. I just added a 32 in. Woled .I loved the 38 for a single monitor, but it did have problems with some games. When the trustworthy Acer 38 dies, I'll add another 32.
