I tried the Asus and it had laughably bad blacks. Sitting next to my 27in Asus tuf IPS, it looked awful. I would go with the Samsung, haven’t tried it but it has to better than the Asus. I ended up trying the new Alienware 34in VA and it matches my ips with color and blacks which I’m most concerned about.

Ghosting, low brightness, poor colour. Pretty good bang for buck a couple years ago but not anymore eh. I did an incremental upgrade to ASUS TUF VG34VQL3A and sold my G5, so worthwhile for all the above factors

I've had both, go LG 100%. LG IPS panels are top of the line. ASUS TUF is not even Asus's top of the line. It smears and looks gross to me. Waste of money.

I own the ASUS VG and use it as a secondary model now after I picked up an oled. When I was using it as a primary monitor it was pretty nice. The blacks aren’t incredibly bad and the cinema mode has some very nice and pleasing colors. I’m probably not the best for ghosting though as it’s not something I really noticed a ton when I was using it as a primary monitor. Definitely liked playing league on it though it’s a very nice monitor for what it is though until I got used to it I would have to move my head to see the map and such since it was larger than what I was used to

I bought Asus for $269 and have zero issues with it. Great gaming monitor for the price.

I'm using the ASUS VG34VQL3A and I'm pretty happy with it. The curve is very subtle and with Overdrive on 20 the ghosting is also not bad. Its eye-searing bright too, so if you are also a psycho that like to play at max brightness its an amazing monitor.

It works perfectly at 165hz and below, but I experienced some flicker with the built in 180hz OC mode.

I was in the same boat and ordered both. Ive got the asus VG34VQL3A VA right in front of me playing RDR2 and a Dell Alienware AW3423DWF OLED watching Stream. My 34GN850P-B IPS will arive tomorrow. Already got one but it was DOA. I can tell you 2 things about the OLED and VA: 1. The VA has terrible VRR Flicker and I had to disable it because it gave me headaches. Bright areas always flicker regardless of FPS. It flickers with 40 and with 140. Common problem with this Panel but everything else is superb for VA. You have to sit straight in front of it for having its color shine bright. I like this one a lot but the VRR sucks ass. 2. The OLED has terrible fringing on text. Its barely noticable on white text with bright background but white text on black background is a pain to read. VRR flicker is not that bad and limited to grey-ish areas when running below 57fps. Will not keep it since the text fringing is driving me nuts. Feel free to AMA

I freakin loooovvveee both of mine. I started with the 180HZ VA ASUS TUF 34” at ~$330 at home. I wanted to see if I would like the ultra wide and loved it. Saved up a few months planning for the Alienware OLED 34” and the 240hz version came out, lucky me. I now have the ASUS at work with a matching 27” TUF monitor. The VA panel never had an issue for me with high FPS and smearing. Maybe I am not so sensitive but I love the monitor. Tons of adjustment with the OSD. Both my 34” monitors were picked mainly off their curvature. I do not like the aggressive 800r curve on the LG and the Samsung models were worse value compared to my current two at the time of purchase.

Both my TUF monitors are VA, arguably they look nicer than my LG ultra gear IPS at home. I was very worried about the whole VA panel deal like you before getting the first 34” Asus TUF monitor. Has HDR 10 that looks great and all the on screen adjustments work well. Very cases specific though, I have not used any other brand VA panel.

The DWF is good but I’m not a fan of QD OLED turning magenta in the light. I would go for the 34” LG OLED and just get used to the curve I’m using the new Asus tuf 34” 180hz VA and it’s very good for the price. But still not nearly as good as an OLED. Not the best response time and the black levels are much better than an ips but still not at OLED level. I love 21:9. Once I step away from it I always crave it again.
