I have the Gigabyte G34WQC. Has been a solid monitor for me for 4 years. Only jumped into sim racing on it in the last month, but has been a great productivity monitor and flight sim monitor. Wish it had a usb port available. Willing to take some screenshots for you in your preferred FOV if you need. Any monitor can give you mirrors if you adjust the FOV, but that doesn’t mean it’s the right setting for your position.

Hey OP I got a (((GIGABYTE G34WQC A 34” 144Hz))) It served me well until I switched to Oled. It is currently in use by my wife. She doesn’t game a lot, like me, but does use it to do work on and really likes it.

I use the Gigabyte G34WQC 144hz and it runs great. The extra visibility almost feels unfair at times and it took me no time to get used to it coming from 16:9.

Modern high refresh rate VA panels are actually not too bad. I had a Gigabyte 34in ultra wide curved monitor, and the colors were almost as accurate as the LG panel that I used before that. But with the affordability of OLED panels getting cheaper and cheaper in the 34-in ultrawide department, it's either go that or go home now.

I don't have any recommendation for you but damn only 1 yr? Sorry for that. Gonna stay away with LG too if it were me. My Gigabyte G34WQC did a good almost 3 yrs before motherboard decided to retire lol. Not sure why it happened it was just a normal day but it did. thankfully still under warranty and was fixed at no cost and they replaced the motherboard, I think it was fried based on the receipt. Maybe you could check if theres any warranty for that as well as you might be covered while you are still looking for a replacement.

I don’t buy this. Tons of people assured me Gigabyte G34WQC had minor smearing. In reality it’s a disgusting mess.

How is scrolling white text against a black background? Like reddit or twitter for example? I do a lot of coding work and my current G34WQC is horrible in that regard. Been contemplating on the Neo or some IPS

I can confirm. Stood in a store with a bunch of monitors set up as dem. One of them was that gigabyte monitor. It was a bad experience. They also had a bunch of other expensive VA panel monitors. IPS panels at the same price range all looked much better. It was night and day.

You absolutely can run standard 1440p with the back bars as the resolution is effectively the same vertically but with more added horizontally as the ratio is wider. That extra field of view on top of what can be changed in game settings is very nice to have and can allow greater adjustments without potentially squishing the game. Of course, with a good enough card you won't need to do so to maintain high enough performance for a few years. And for any games, mainly older ones, that don't support ultrawide resolutions there's apps to help, like Flawless Widescreen aso. Tbh that's why I made the GPU choice I did. The cheapest by far of the full 4K cards run at 3440x1440 is no real loss when it means holding good perf longer at that lower, but not necessarily worse, resolution. I actually have a perfectly good, highly recommended 55" 4K gaming TV (Samsung QN90A) that the 7900XTX can handle fine... I just end up sticking to 3440x1440 cos i like it more. As for the 1000R curve, it's towards the more extreme end but by no means outright worse. A less extreme curvature is better for many non-gaming tasks and for games with large, detailed overworld maps of fields (like many strategy games) a top down view or side scrollers. For some good examples do a search for articles on monitor curve ratios. Personally, I couldn't willingly go back to gaming on either non curved nor non ultrawide monitors after ten years but ideally the curve would be 1200-1800R as less was too much and more was practically flat. That aside, the G5 and better still, the G8 (OLED and non OLED) are great though. For now I'm still using a Gigabyte G34WQC as my main, a little old after four years, no OLED, but the best all rounder and cheapest of its peers at the time. My best desired and eventual upgrade, for much the same reasons, would be the highly regarded Alienware AW3423DWF. It's pricey but gets several good discounts a year.
