r/ultrawidemasterrace • 34 “ IPS Ultra wide gaming monitor suggestions 3440 x 1440 Resolution ->I'll add my 2p to this.. I recently went OLED (Dell Alienware AW3225QF) and have returned it due to eye strain, headaches and green/purple fringing on text. Im about 80/20 productivity gaming and instantly knew it was OLED due to it 'feeling' different in a bad way. I noticed when looking at it from screen to where my head is \~60cm. It was most evident on block white text on black background. I'm back on my Acer X34 original (100Hz) but am uprgading to a second hand LG 34GP950G. The 4k, 240hz was fantastic in gaming, but even in games I noticed the text and it gave me eye strain. The extra hz/fps was however fantastic. Moving to another higher refresh rate IPS seems like a better option for me as must be sensitive to QD OLED. I might look at mini / micro led in the future.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Ips ultrawide 34" for 2025 ? ->I have an [LG 34 GP 950 G](https://www.lg.com/de/monitore/gaming/34gp950g-b/?srsltid=AfmBOopvwdI341ouMVuFuW5NQGtdaLnf7P3UwAqbVNjPqfO3GU5Fp696), it has a 1900 radius and I'm sitting at the perfect distance so everything appears straight.
r/pcmasterrace • Gaming in 16:9 or 21:9, what’s your thoughts ? ->34GP950G-B user here (also bought it used approx. 2 years ago), I can recommend it. Probably one of, if not the best "old" IPS ultrawides before the OLED craze started.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 34” LG Curved Ultrawide for under $500? ->It comes down to your aims and your games. I messed around with several displays last year. One of them was the other samsung g9. The 1ms 1000R 49" display. While there were things I liked about it, it had a number of drawbacks. Some games felt rather immersive after fiddling (1000R is quite an extreme curve), but other games had no support in that range. My aim is content and personal gaming and to that extent I found it more useful to go with a smaller display (34" LG 34950G-B). It was about the same size and curve (1900R) as my previous display, but just better overall. This allowed me enough real estate on my desktop to keep a second display for obs/etc. This also helped maintain decent frame rates on my 3070 while recording. If you only game, you don't have this added constraint. I also don't like playing some games in windowed mode and some older games (e.g. Shogun 2) have issues running that way. So without knowing what you plan to do with the display it's hard to give you sound advice about which is best for you beyond what you already seem to know- 21:9 has broader default support atm. 32:9 resolution didn't exist for me in some games and plenty older games just might look like crap because they won't be getting updates. I will say, however, that the 34" on amazon I bought refurbed or whatever for 1-200 off what it was priced at at the time. There is a single pixel that is red/green somewhere on the screen outside the "main" viewing area. I can't see it right now unless I drag a black window around to spot it. Rather worth it for me. So keep an eye out sometimes as they have open boxes discounted. You just want to check for any burnouts/etc.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Should I be getting a 32:9 or a 21:9 monitor? ->So my LG ultragear IPS of 5 years died today. Looking getting another ultrawide. It seems like theres hardly any available from samsung or LG, its either VA, which is nice and cheap but he picture quality sucks, im not downgrading. Or oled, which has amazing picture quality but worried about burn in. Hardly any IPS monitors which i felt like a good trade off. There seems to be a few but missing a lot of features or really expensive. All i want is 120Hz+ QHD HDMI for PS5 AUX for my desktop speakers and good picture quality. It seems like theres always some trade off. the LG 34GP950G looks like it was perfect but seems discontinued. Theres also the LG 34GP83A, but at $749, I might as well buy the OLED LG and risk burn in for the same price and get better image quality and console gaming features. any other suggestions? are my fears of the oled valid? id like to get another 5 years of my new monitor
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Seems like VA or OLED are the only options now ->Thank you for the update. I was also able to test both this and the LG 39 OLED over the weekend. I have been using the LG ultra gear ultrawide 34" IPS for the past 2 years and I have always loved LG products but Asus takes the cake here. The only downside on the Asus 39 OLED is the lack of HDR calibration even after the firmware update the colors look washed out a bit. I tried different online guides for color calibration but I haven't found the one that I would settle for. I will do more research on that once I have more time. Right now I'm rocking it on SDR Cinema Mode and Oh My! it looks amazing. I wish I had more space to do side by side comparison with the LG one but I found the Asus better in every aspect from build quality to image quality (even though the OLED on Asus is made by LG), for some reason text appear better on Asus, Built-in speakers, KVM switch, Aesthetics, better out of the box mode selects, more OLED care options, $250 cheaper, and last but not the least 3 year warranty instead of 2 from LG. At $750 its a steal if you ask me. Unfortunately, my LG monitor arrived with a red tint on right side of the screen. Basically it was an WOLED defect. Not counting this in the comparison of course but just something to note that this can also happen.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Bought a ASUS ROG Swift 39 (PG39WCDM). Should I be concerned? ->Well everyone, after 5 years with my LG 34 in 144 Hz Ultrawide.... I have found my new baby for the next 5 years
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG Unveils World’s First 5K2K OLED Ultrawide Monitors At CES 2025 ->I use the LG ultragear 34". I'm not sure if it's the exact same model that you say is not in stock. It's the best monitor Ive I've had though, so I'd say it's worth doing some digging. I tried some VA panels, and they had the dreaded VRR/AdaptiveSync flicker issue that so many get. I've heard OLEDs get them too. I'd never go back to gaming without VRR, especially at high refresh rates. The one I returned before getting the LG even flickered on the desktop sometimes. IPS hardly ever has that issue.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The nightmare that is finding an IPS in 2025 vs VA and OLED. ->I use a 34 curved ips from LG. There are also mini LEDs from TCL.
