How is it for work? All previous OLED monitors i tried the text was not sharp enough. I have the LG 38WN95C-W which is great for work but not games. Do you like it overall?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 5k2k 45GX950A-B 48hr review ->Why ultra wide? Why 120Hz? I have been using the LG 38WN95C for almost three years. It's ok but not great for both coding and photo editing. I wear glasses and my eyes are getting a bit older, but the text rendering on the LG is mediocre at best. Color and contrast are nowhere near as good as the Retina on my MacBook Pro M4 Pro. Hop over to r/macbookpro and search for "monitor for retina" and you'll get a ton of recommendations. tl,dr: The LG is ok, but recommend you spend your money elsewhere if coding and photography are your primary tasks. Choose one of the new/upcoming 27" 5k displays.
r/MacStudio • Best ultrawide for coding and photo editing? LG 38WN95C-W? ->It the newer model of the lg38wn95c Can agree it is an excellent monitor with great brightness
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Just got the LG 38WR85QC-W. I am never going back! ->Same panel but has a white frame of the monitor as opposed to black, it also gets rid of the power brick. Now inbuilt into the monitor and removed thunderbolt 3, newer model is USB C only and has built in KVM
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Just got the LG 38WR85QC-W. I am never going back! ->I'm probably a niche user. I use MacOS for productivity (document preparation/emails/web based SaaS applications - not coding) during the day and Windows for gaming. After months of looking at various ultrawides I purchased the 38WN95C-W and am seriously having buyers remose with the release of the new 45" OLED monitors. Things that concern me about the 45" inch - (a) the curve, and (b) whether 45" is too wide (c) OLED text fringing. I couldn't find any LG OLED's on "display" so ended up sticking with LCD to be on the safe side. For me the "sweet spot" would be: ✅ 38/39" OLED ✅ 5K/2K (ideally a PPI for retina but I don't think the technology is there yet at sizes over 27"). ✅ 1800-2300R curve. Basically the 39GX90SA with a resolution bump and less agressive curve and keep all the other features the same. Nonetheless, I'd still love the opportunity to try the 45".

r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->This is seems as fantastic option for productivity+gaming! As someone who struggles to find a good OLED monitor with USB-C support for my MacBook Pro, I’m really excited about this one. As a developer and designer, I think it’s going to be a perfect fit. I’m currently using the LG Ultrawide 38WN95C, which is one of the best monitors I’ve ever owned. I just wish it had a higher resolution and faster refresh rate—and still allowed for seamless plug-and-play with my MacBook Pro. The new UltraGear 45GX950A seems like it hits that sweet spot. Good luck to everyone out there hunting for the perfect display!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I use the LGWN95C Thunderbolt, 38”, 144hz support, usb hub. It’s a great sweet spot between connectivity to work laptops and dedicated gaming machines.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does the perfect Ultrawide monitor for productivity first and gaming second exist? ->I've been on a AW3418DW for a long time now and have been itching to upgrade, but I'm in the same boat as you. I work from home full time, so I'm doing 9 hours of static screens, etc. OLED is an absolute no-go for me. But I do game at night. I just ordered an LG 38WN95C from Amazon. They are currently on sale for $800. It's a 38" nano IPS 3840 x 1600, so a little bigger than my current monitor. It's got HDR 600, 144mhz & 1ms response time. For $800, I'm going to give it a shot and see if that will tide me over until Mini-LED becomes more mainstream. I'm also currently running a 3080 FE and am planning on getting a 5080, so that should power the extra screen real estate.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best non-OLED ultrawide ->If smearing is truly your fear then LG 38wn95c or 38wr85qc are your best bets. These would be safe options.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->LG38WN95C-W Rev2 and its newer version, the 38WR85QC-W are a great middle ground for primarily productivity. They run at 3840x1600, are cheaper than the newer 5k x 2k monitors, and have higher refresh (144 Hz) and no OLED concerns. The slightly lower res also makes them better to get higher FPS in games. You can also see the entire screen at a glance versus the IMHO crazy 49” sized monitors.

r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultra Wide - Productivity ->This is why I'm still running the 38" LG 38WN95C, and have been for years. Need a 38-40" ultrawide without an aggressive curve that matches that aspect ratio and provides more vertical real estate, with better contrast (IPS Black isn't enough) and refresh rate. I will throw money at the first monitor that comes along that fits that bill.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Ultrawide for work: nothing new from CES 2025? ->Totally agree on the LG 38wr85q-w. Best monitor for productivity and gaming currently in the market. FYI Beach camera has the 38WN95C-W (same panel and everything, just without KVM and HDMI 2.1) open box for $499.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • UltraWide for Programming on a Mac and gaming on a PC? ->I have pretty much this exact monitor probably a slightly different model and it works fantastic. There is a bug with the M1 that causes weird issues -fixable but annoying. but you’re not gonna have m1 so you should be good.
r/MacStudio • Best ultrawide for coding and photo editing? LG 38WN95C-W? ->38in LG ultrawide it’s IPS 🔥 gentle curve
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best non-OLED ultrawide ->LG 38in ultrawide! With thunderbolt connection. 3840x1600
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide for Productivity ->I have a 38wn95c but I'm thinking of a 4025 to run as a dual. Can I see what your stacked setup looks like?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->I have it as well. Do you have it single or dual?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->Good luck to everyone in the comments! My sweet spot for ultra wide is the 21:9. Currently using the LG 38WN95C, one of my favorite features is the the thunderbolt 3 connectivity to run power my laptop along with charging capabilities. The higher refresh rate, resolution, and size makes this one an all around better monitor!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Similar concerns as you have. I managed to nab the 2024 refresh of the 38" LG on sale and it was an amazing upgrade for my workflow. I really wanted to have (somewhat confortably) 3 windows side by side. Before that I had a 27"-1440p monitor. Tried a 34"-1440p but it was not wide enough pixel wise for three windows. I was used to splitting in two on the 27" and that is 2560px wide so about 1280px per window, which comes to 3840px for three windows of the same size. 4K it is. Tried a 32"-4k but it was too small to actually see anything without scaling and >40" monitor for productivity with >60hz don't really exist as it is more or less TV teritory. So I finally ended up with the LG. Productivity wise it was a huge boost, the extra height is an added bonus. Games, if they support 21:9, are amazing, but be aware that it is closer to a 4k screen ( About 75% of 4K. In practice it is a 40" 16:9 4K that had a band of about 500px cut off the top). I personally don't mind the IPS or the PPI as it is very simillar to my old 1440p screen.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does the perfect Ultrawide monitor for productivity first and gaming second exist? ->I use 38" 3820x1600 21:9 and I'm fine. At the beginning I've also used my laptop screen, but after some time I've stopped. If I'll ever replace my screen It'll be \~40" 4K, or 49" 5k2k (5120x2160). I just want to stay close to \~110ppi so I don't need to use scaling therefore using all the pixels :D
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What size of ultrawide is big enough to justify dropping dual setup? ->I think the sweet spot is in the 45-50" range for a 5k2k monitor. I've been wanting something in that range for a very long time now. I have a 38" 3840x1600 LG monitor now, and as great as it is, I would love more size and resolution.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I always considered 38" at 3840x1600 to be the sweet spot in terms of ppi and vertical screen real estate. The GX9 is an upgrade to both which makes it the top choice until the higher ppi 39" versions arrive later this year

r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does the perfect Ultrawide monitor for productivity first and gaming second exist? ->Just ordered this one a couple days ago - getting it tomorrow! Upgrading from LG38
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The best ultrawide for home office (80%) and gaming (20%), budget: open. ->Hey LG! I’ve had the 38” LG IPS and now have the original 45” OLED! I’d say my sweet spot is probably the 45”. It has the perfect vertical resolution and the curve is super immersive. While I currently only use it for gaming I think it’d be cool to do a review of the 3440x1440 and the 5k2k side by side in productivity apps to help clear the muddy waters in the PPI conversation. Thanks!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->i went with LG38, IPS panel, great for gaming and excel( shitloads of space for huge sheets) not so good for movies. dota2 on 38 is very nice.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->i think because of IPS panel, blacks are washed, blooming is noticeable, i watched dune part 2 in 4k, and y old VA panel looked much better. in my mind its a trade off, since i get good gaming performance and perfect excel sheets i don't mind it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I want a super ultra wide for work and gaming... but everything is OLED now? ->I've got an LG 38" ultrawide and I really couldn't go back to anything lower, so that is my current sweet spot. I am terribly curious about the next generation of incoming OLEDs though, especially since my screen has a scratch on it that is impossible to ignore.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I guess you can put it to preference…. I don’t like 27” 4k.. text is too small and trying to get text to look good and not be too big to lose the 4k size…. It’s just not good. Basically, a 3440x1440 at 39”.. the text will be bigger. The actually benefit is just bigger size but the use screen is still the same as a 34” 3440x1440. If you want a bigger monitor and proper resolution, look at 38” 3940x1600 or the new 45 5k2k. When looking at monitor, you shouldn’t just look at size … you need to look at resolution to size. 4k - 32”+, anything smaller may give more ppi but the actual image size will be bad visually.. if you can’t see it well since it’s too small, what’s the point. 34” - 3440x1440, this seems to work really well. It’s not just me but many others who use it. Higher res may work for this size but… it may have the same issues as too high res for the size. We won’t know until it comes out and people try it. 38” - 3840x1600, this seems to be a proper size to res. It’s also a great work size due to the higher height resolution. The unfortunate part .. it’s not a standard size so they are expensive and most are older models. Nothing new for this size/resolution. 39” - these are mostly cheaper 3440x1440 due to bad resolution to size. There are more expensive versions as you can see but not worth it in my opinion. -other res may exist but the most likely one is 3440x1440 49 - 5120x1440, 2 1440p monitors basically. This is a popular 32:9 monitor size and from users… it seem to work well. This may get 5k2k versions and that might work really well thought the size maybe a little different. There are other sizes but those are the basic ultrawide sizes that I have seen. -57”, this is a nich size for ultrawide so didn’t add this. If you got this, you know you want it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • ASUS PG39WCDM or LG? ->The LG 5K2K on my desk is such big step up from the LG 38” UW IPS. I’m spending way too much time on gaming since I upgraded. Love it!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best ultrawide in your opinion? ->Using a 38 3840x1600 and works great. Imo it will be fine until series 7k.
r/buildapc • Is the 5070 ti enough for ultra wide? ->GUI monitor can be whatever you want. However, generally, people recommend having your reference monitor in the center, so having a GUI monitor to left and to the right of it makes more logical sense. I run a 38" LG ultrawide and a Flanders DM250 to the right of it.
r/colorists • Ultrawide monitor for UI? ->Lookup va black level smearing before you go with a VA panel. I'd recommend checking out a video of say the Dell 34 inch VA panel as that's basically what you will end up with. Specifically look up black level smearing on any VA panel you are browsing. If you go cheap it could be worse than that. If you can't stand the black level smearing an IPS should be midrange for the price. There are plenty of options at 144 Hz. If you can get one I'd say go for the LG 38 inch 1600 p monitor as that is my daily driver for 3 years. I actually own the Alienware one but it's the same panel just 144 Hz and I'm not sure how common Alienware is as a brand in Europe. Otherwise you can go with an OLED 34 inch but they are expensive. I'd guess easily $1000 Euros. Imo increase your budget a bit for your monitor of choice. It's gonna usually last you 5 years. So an extra $200 can go a long way for peace of mind.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Looking to upgrade my current dual monitor setup to 34" ultrawide. ->I have a 9800x3D and just got a 9070xt and I play on a 3840x1600 38" ultra wide, it's dope
r/buildapc • Is the 5070 ti enough for ultra wide? ->Having used a 38" 3840*1600 extensively for work I've been waiting for a long time for an OLED ultrawide to meet or beat that resolution. I'n my opinion anything less than 1600 vertical pixels is insufficient for productivity usage so I've been extremely excited to try 45" at 5k2k for some time!
