Not cheap because it appears to be one of the only 21:9 1600p models still out but I’m very happy with this downsizing from a 42” C2. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1817894-REG/lg_38br85qc_w_38_qhd_hdr.html

r/ultrawidemasterraceThe state of modern LG Monitors, compared. I'm needing to choose a new LG monitor to replace my dead one (the first entry, 34GK950F), and I figured the community might benefit from my comparison table. I still don't know what to choose, myself.

I absolutely love my 38" LG (I have the Freesync version). However, I don't see it for sale anymore. I feel 38" is the perfect size, though I suppose a higher resolution would be good. Why not consider the  38WR85QC-W.AUS? It's basically the same as the 38GN except cheaper ($1200). The 40" 5k 2k is also a good option, but I use my UW for both work and gaming so I'd go with the 120hz one.

r/ultrawidemasterraceLooking for a 34–40″ ultrawide with KVM, high refresh, and great text clarity—any suggestions?

This. I recently bought this monitor as well and i am loving it so far. Didn’t want to buy OLED because of burn in issues since i play MMORPG where there are lots of static elements. Also couldn’t bear Black Smearing on VAs which most of 34” Ultrawides come with. I also wanted 1 monitor setup and a bigger screen (was using 34 VA before) and 38 was like a sweet spot.

r/ultrawidemasterraceBest productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"?

LG 38WR85QC or Dell 4025DW. The LG has a KVM and USB-C DP, 1600p, a very good screen, 144 Hz, decent HDR, and good VRR for gaming. The Dell has Thunderbolt 4, 2160p, also a good screen, 120 Hz but is not as good at VRR gaming (according to rtings). Also driving games at that resolution is a challenge for any PC which doesn't have a 3080 or better... Also it's double the price. So if gaming is important and you can live without 4k resolution, then get the LG. I went for it and am happy. :)

Awesome! I've just gotten my new (and first) ultrawide this week - LG 38WR85QC. I was looking for jack of all trades - I'm doing 80% productive work (office) on my monitor, but also gaming, though it's a distant second to productive work. Still, I wanted something wide, suitable for work, great image quality and at least some HDR capability, and in the end I went for the 1600p WR85. Still, I was long debating internally if 2160p wouldn't be better, since I'm mainly working. And I was also debating internally if I should try OLED, but ultimately I was a bit scared of burn in. So I'd love to get a chance at comparing the WR85QC to the 5k2k GX9, especially for my productivity use case. :) As for the sweet spot... well, the 38" I currently have feels very good, a bit bigger than 34, but not super huge. So... around 40ish I'd say.

r/ultrawidemasterraceLG 38WR85QC-W (940€) or 38GN950-B (760€)? Work and gaming

I have the WR85. The panel is nice and plenty of connectivity. KVM is a nice bonus. If you don't need KVM and the ports aren't a deciding factor just go for the GN950 IMO.

r/ultrawidemasterraceAre LG IPS 144hz 38" ultrawides good for gaming?

I watched the video again it was a 34 inch 3440x1440 QD oled with 360hz MSI MEG X, or the new LG 39 inch tandem oled 5k x 2k. Most mini led the shown where 27 inch 1440p, 27 inch 2880p even 32 inch 6k panels & 4k 27inch. The most impressive panel is the 5k dual mode (1440p with higher refresh rate for gaming)

I had the LG 38WR85QC-W but sent it back because the PPI is just too low for me. I'm thinking about the 40" G75F but M4 Macs don’t work that well with 5k2k resolution, it has no KVM and I don’t like VA panels. The Dell and LG 40" 5k2k IPS monitors do not have a fast enough respone time for gaming. Maybe I have to give up the ultrawides for now and go for 16:9 32" 4k.

r/ultrawidemasterraceFor those who went for non-OLED Ultrawides, which one did you get?

Which LG do you have? I had the LG 38WR85QC before and the G75F is way better.

r/ultrawidemasterraceGamers who also work from home, what monitor do you swear by?

Yes, I went with a 38" 3840x1600 monitor. 38BR85QC-W. I don't really swear by it though. I upgraded from 1080p approx one year after I started WFH. ONLY because I got a MacBook. 1080p Macbook looks SO BAD, that I thought I did something wrong with the settings. It looks like when you do some 800p res on Windows and stretch it across whole screen. Now in the office I work on a 32" 4k and we also have setups with 34" UW 1440p. 4k was fine, but wanted more side to side, tested the UW and that was horrible, 1440p looks very blurry to me on MacOS too AND 34" felt too small! Judging by resolution, I obviously fit less on it than 4k. So I went for the niche pick of 38". Thunderbolt and 120Hz+ (mine has 144Hz) and KVM. It hurt cause I paid 1000 bucks for a non oled, but I do think the size is perfect. The switching between PC and MacBook is also seemless with all the stuff I have plugged into the monitor directly. I do hate LGs matte screens though, Dell is a lot more glossy, so looks sharper, better blacks. the 40" Dell was too expensive. I also had the intention with going singlr screen with this monitor, but noticed I needed a 2nd screen during full screen gaming so unfortunately I added back a 1080p Monitor in portrait. If I knew I would feel about it that way, I would have probably gone 2x 27" 4k, which are still cheaper than the LG. anr if I could have even daisy chained them, that said, I use side but side windows like 90% of the time, so would probably regret it again haha Oh and I was also afraid of very curved displays since I edit a lot of photos

Got a 38" LG UltraWide 38WR85QC-W Nano IPS with 144hz and I ain't looking back. Got it for around 900€ here in Portugal. I have it for mixed use, it's great for gaming and for programming is amazing, you can have an editor and a browser side by side and be extremely comfortable. If you have a work laptop, you can connect any peripherals to it and connect a USB-C cable, that comes included, to your device
