Just posted this to a similar thread: Recently went down the "affordable ultrawide for work" rabbit hole after my Samsung G9 OG kicked the bucket. Ended up landing on the 45GR75DC-B. Less aggressive curve (1500R) and slightly reduced physical width but those work well with the same 5120x1440 resolution to achieve a higher PPI version of what I was working with before. Its also a much lighter package, has USB C 90 watt power delivery, not OLED (I was concerned with burn in from days long sessions) and up to 200mhz refresh rate while it came in at $799 which was good value versus the others I had been considering. Been pretty pleased with it overall so far, but still early on with it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Advice on good UW monitor for work ->It looks crazy at distance, I agree. And I thought I would hate it. But that's not how it is intended to be used. When you sit at the correct distance \~80cm in front of it, you adapt really quickly to it and only really notice if you move further away. It is actually great at 80cm, because the center and the sides are the same distance from your eyes. Without the curve at similar distance I would have to move my neck to see the whole display, I have an 1800R 45" 32:9, and if I sat at that distance, it would be painful. It is really a good choice for this size in real life use at that intended distance as it fills your vision without neck strain. And instead of hating it, I now think it is perfect.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This monitor is wider than you think - LG 5k2k GX9 ->I'm using an oled now, but my 200hz 45" LG VA 32:9 panel is bright and has very accurate color when calibrated correctly and oversaturated colors that some people seem to enjoy if desired. It had a slight VA blur trail on fast moving objects, but at 200hz it was imperceptible to me outside of anything but a test designed to highlight it. Modern VA panels are much better than they used to be.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Seems like VA or OLED are the only options now ->LG has a nice 45" 1500R 32:9 display as long as you are good with VA at 200hz. Here is a review link, I also have one of these and agree with the review. It has higher PPI than the 49 you mentioned since it's the same res but condensed form factor. r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45"+ 32:9 monitor with maximum curvature ->I have the same use case and am extremely happy with the LG 45GR75DC-B. My gaming rig is connected via DisplayPort and my work laptop connects via USB-C/DP with 90W power. My mouse and keyboard are connected to the monitor and it acts as a KVM to switch with the inputs. 45” 5120x1440 monitor feels perfect. The 49” was a bit too big for my taste and the same resolution at 45” feels like the perfect sweet spot in terms of pixel density. It is a VA panel, but I haven’t experienced any smearing or poor response times in games like PoE, Deadlock, or Overwatch. I did tons of research and landed here because I needed a resolution of 5120x1440, USB-C with power delivery, and have the monitor make my games look and feel good. This one checks all the boxes.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) ->I thought about 32:9 when I had my first 21:9 which was a 34, and was like... this isn't enough vertical space, I thought about S:UW and then i saw the 45" LGs, found the 1440 one on ebay for a damn fine price and man, I don't think 32:9 would be a very good choice for me, this 45 is PERFECT and mines only 1440, as 5k2k is overkill for what I can generally afford, or feel comfortable affording.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best 32:9 monitor now also compare 21:9 which one you would chose and why? ->I love it, for my uses. My M2 Mac mini had 32" Dell Ultrawide (HDMI 3440x1440 60Hz) and a 45" LG Ultrawide (DP 5120x1440 60Hz). The HDMI wouldn't do 5120x1440. I recently upgraded to the M4 Pro Mac mini and it's running the same monitors but with the inputs reversed, because the Dell can only do 60Hz, and the LG can do 200Hz, which it now does, over HDMI. I do believe the base M4 Mac mini can run this same setup.
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->I initially got interested in ultra wide screens from promos on 49 inchers, but felt they were not tall enough for their width. Now I have an LG 21:9 45 inch and it seems just right.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I am planning on making the switch from the 57" Samsung to the 45" LG. I have had the 57" since launch a couple of years ago in the US, and it was amazing to have such resolution and space. The HDR brightness is quite blinding at times when in a dark room, and finally being able to at least support 240Hz with the latest 50 series GPUs is nice. But blooming even with as many dimming zones as this screen has is still not great compared to OLED, since I play quite a few dark games, it can be quite noticeable. The smaller screen size might not be great, as I tried this once when I went from a 49" G9 Mini-LED to the 34" Alienware OLED, and I did not like the size downgrade. But seeing the LG in person at a Best Buy made it seem a bit better, and it would be as bad, so I will have to see. I am looking forward to trying it and maybe trying the dual mode functionality to see if 330Hz is worth it in games, but overall, I am looking forward to using OLED for my monitor. Also, getting a decent deal at almost $700 off made it at least worth a try for me.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What are the obsession with 5K2K over 57 inch? ->I just got the 57 inch. I finally kick ass in Call of Duty®. Besides that though it is a beast for productivity. All of the screen real estate is amazing. I doubt burn in is as bad as people say with OLED but since it is not a OLED panel, you don’t have to worry about possible burn in risk if you’re going to use it for productivity. It’s overall an amazing monitor for both gaming and productivity. I’m like you in the sense that when I get something, I’m always thinking about if I made the right decision and whether I should take it back and get something better, but the 57 inch will be staying with me. By the way, the box wouldn’t fit in my car so I left it at Best Buy. I’m so confident with the 57 inch that I’m not even going to go back and get the box because I won’t be sending it back. If I were in your shoes and had the funds to get the 57 inch now I would likely go with the 45 inch LG though. The 5K 2K sounds like a beast. Plus it’s OLED. That will probably be my first choice, but I got the 57 inch for a much better price.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Just bought the 49" G9 OLED. Having some serious buyer remorse. ->As someone who has a 7800X3D & 7900XTX, I raise you a counter offer. Neither a 34” ultrawide or a 32” 4K. But a 39” or 45” ultrawide instead. I went with the LG 45”. This is coming from a G9 Odyssey 49”. And I started with a 34” ultrawide before that. The one thing that was missing from my G9 was just the vertical screen real estate. It makes it extremely immersive more so than the G9 could ever hit. Plus it runs easier than 4K so you can still hit all of the high fps in a lot of games.
r/OLED_Gaming • Gaming on 34" 1440p ultrawide or 4k 32"? ->Had the DWF, the picture was truly amazing, but the size of the 5K2k and upgrade to 4K made me sell the DWF, too be fair I was on the Ultragear 45 1440 over the DWF already, really love the 45 for immersion
