I think the gx9 is the sweet spot. Rather than resolution for future iterations I would rather see refresh rate improvements over any resolution bump. Especially for a desk setup, over this resolution is just stupid and driving extra pixels you can't see is just a waste of power. Tbh I think even the current refresh rate is perfect and with the dual mode if you really needed more refresh for competitive games just go down to 2k and really can't think of a better all in one solution.

Alright ... so I went out and bought the 45GX950A first impressions from using it for design graphic work on a MacBook all day. \- Thought the curve would be too much, but I actually love it, makes it easier to see all the windows and compared to my 38wn95c I found myself using the edges more cause I can see them easier. \- Grays look like low-compression images with artifacts. Since I use figma all day it kinda bothers me, hope I get used to it. \- Depending on the background, sometimes I see weird flickering in the corners not a big deal, but for $2k? \- The text .. ...well it is better than any other OLED I seen.. I would say it's 80% to the IPS standard I had before it. Depending on size and background, some of it is fuzzy. \- Colors look more realistic across the board, think of it as you wiped down a dusty screen or you took a plank of wood and wiped it down with a wet cloth, and all the rain and detail became fresh and visible. \- Games, yes they look great. I have an OLED tv since 2016. If you used an OLED expect the same but on your monitor. The curve makes you feel more imerrsed, although I think I still prefer playing through my Bigscreen Beyond VR headset or living room OLED tv ... Sooo I am still not sure, I am using this screen for mostly work and maybe some games once or twice a week, and if I am spending $2k for a screen that's going to last me at least the next 5 years, I want it to be perfect for my primary task. I think maybe in the next year they will refine it further and drop the price? Still going to give it another week to see if anything changes

As an ex-G9 owner, 800R is perfect for a monitor of this size. I've attempted to use a 55" C9 as a monitor but can't do without that curve. The GX9 is a perfect combo!

For me and my use case, a monitor that strikes the right balance between gaming and productivity is the sweet spot. I currently have a 4k 120Hz, 16:9 monitor, even though I don't have a GPU that can play demanding games at 4K. I'll play games at 50% render scale, giving me high frame rate with crisp text on HUD elements. And I can still make full use of my monitors specs with less demanding games. And then when I need to switch to my work laptop when I'm working from home, that 4K screen real estate is extremely valuable. 4K 16:9 is more pixels than a 21:9, 1440p ultra-wide. Because of this, I haven't been interested in upgrading to ultrawide so far, since they've all been 1440p. I don't want to take the downgrade on screen real estate or text clarity. I had to pick between 21:9, or high res, and I prefer high res. But with the GX9, I finally don't have to make that choice! This monitor has the best of both worlds. Finally, high resolution in 21:9. This is the first ultrawide monitor that really suits my needs, and hits the right sweet-spots. I've been waiting literal years for a monitor like this, and finally have something worth upgrading to. Monitors that are 21:9 or 32:9 and high refresh rate, but sacrifice on resolution have been abundant, but that's not the right balance for me. Extra features like dual-mode and USB-C are icing on the cake. If I had to, I would choose 5K2K 160Hz, over lower res but higher refresh rate. But with dual-mode, I don't have to! And I would make extensive use of USB-C PD. Being able to plug in my work laptop with one cable would be so good.

I really appreciate this approach to user/product review! The ultrawide sweet spot is gonna vary on aspect. 32:9 already has a sweet spot with the Samsung 57 7k2k. I wish it was OLED but that's it. I think LG is so close with the gx9 in that 45" 5k2k. Having seen the 1440p version at Best buy only months before. That size is fantastic. The PPI is amazing. I don't know enough about if dual mode requires a 2:1 pixel map but if I could get 240hz 1440 and greater than or equal to 144hz 5k2k on a single 45” 21:9 OLED I don't think I'd upgrade until 10k4k 45" became a thing. As it stands, more options around curvature, panel coating, dual mode or not (for cost reasons), and built in speakers would be really nice at the 45" 21:9. I really hope this panel size is here to stay.

45 inch is the ultimate sweet spot for size. I've tried a lot of monitors and I don't think I'll ever swap from 45-inch form factor now that I've used one. The GX9 really hits every note, its got the perfect form factor, it has high refresh rate of 165hz which future proofs it for a long time. Much better HDR than the last panel and beautiful WOLED. The only thing I wish was included with this monitor is an option to put it in 3440x1440 @ 240hz. That way you would have 3 options to make sure you can use the perfect settings for whatever game you want to play. That's a small nitpick tho, this monitor is simply the best option on the market and anyone would be happy to use it.

I've been using the LG45GX950 for a couple of weeks myself. I'm in the process of testing it to the best as my ability allows, but I have a few initial thoughts: There's a few things I don't like about this monitor - though ultimately I'm enjoying the upgrade to 5120x2160 at 165hz! The PPI, HDR, text, and overall display quality is a massive upgrade in comparison to the previous generation 45GR95QE with it's larger pixel density I think the curve should be slightly less aggressive, for starters. The bendable version of this display coming later this year won't have this problem. I think this resolution would be much better in a 39" or 40" size display My other prime annoyance might sound like a nothingburger to most users, but I found one feature that the 45GR95QE had to be very useful that the 45GX950A lacks - that is, the inclusion of a remote control. It's a lot easier to navigate the OSD with a remote, and you don't have to be right next to the screen to change those settings if you have a remote - and personally, I don't like using a screen this big at the distance you would use a normal monitor. One of the reasons I enjoy a larger screen is the ability to use it from a further distance. Also I'm one of those users who prefers to adjust brightness levels multiple times in the day, depending on what I'm doing. That's much easier with a remote control.

My LG5k2k is yet to give out unlike my Neo 49 Odyssey that I had for 1.5 years, so I still give a slight win to the LG, personally. I use mine for work, and I must admit, I was concerned going to a smaller screen from the Neo, yet the added height more than makes up for it.

As a motion graphics designer, I did a lot of research about the new LG 5k2k (OLED) and slightly older Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57" (VA panel with mini LED). I was concerned with burn in, screen quality, brightness/contrast ratios, screen real estate, and size. Short and sweet and to the point, while I wish the Samsung was an OLED, I have complete confidence the VA Mini-LED panel is going to be great and I picked the Samsung G9 57" because it offered a bit better discount and better features for me as a designer. Besides my desktop, I have an ASUS ROG Strix G16 Laptop with a 240hz mini-LED screen, and it is pretty damn good. I prefer the matte finish because my computer is in a room with a lot of sunlight. The mini LED screens can get nice and bright, quite a bit more so than an OLED if I remember correctly. There is blooming in dark areas sometimes, but quite honestly, I find the people that complain about such things to just be picky. That's okay, but I am not that way. The screens are pretty incredible nowadays any direction you go. Coming from two 27" Dell U2715H 1440p monitors, I felt that the LG 5k2k would have been nice, but I had serious concerns with the tops and bottoms of the screen distorting. I need my straight lines to look straight - it's important as a designer lol. I checked out it's predecessor at Best Buy and I think I could use it for design, but it would be challenging at certain times. The Samsung G9 57" offers up 2 UHD screens next to each other with less curvature, which is a nice thought for productivity with tons of real estate and minimal distortion. I also noticed the Samsung could choke down to 21:9 aspect if I needed to on certain games, which is a nice feature that I will undoubtedly use since I do game, but I am probably 50/50 gaming/productivity. Because of my experience with my mini-LED laptop, I ended up choosing the Samsung. It certainly helped that through the Samsung educational store I was able to secure a G9 57" for $1500, which seems like a good deal for the times. I could have maybe got the LG for $1700-$1800 after the partner store discount. (My wife's .edu email address happened to work for both stores, which is nice!). I should get the monitor today. Really looking forward to having a giant screen and I'm sure my wife will roll her eyes at it sitting in our living room lol.

I think this GX9 with 5k resolution should crush it in terms of clarity, the size of 45" WOLED panel means it's an even better version of the LG C4 42" which is the real sweet spot for Ultrawide! I own an LG CX 65" in the house as well and console gaming on it is always a joy. Looking to have that experience with PC gaming as well! Also for high-end OLED display, resolution and screen size are the most important aspect to me. Price and a robust burn-in warranty policy are the next important aspect I look for when shopping for OLED display. LG has making OLED TV for awhile now so I feel confident in shopping for LG OLED products. Thank you for this kickass giveaway event and Good luck to all!

This size and resolution is perfect. But the aggressive curve - while good for gaming - is not ideal for productivity. Most reviewers say the curve works, but having used the older 1440 version, I think the monitor works for productivity in spite of the curve not because of it. There is definitely a distracting distortion at this curve for spreadsheets and documents - not necessarily a deal breaker but definitely not ideal. What sets the monitor apart is the resolution and size, not the curve. I think the aggressive curve actually limits its full potential as a complete solution for gaming and productivity. That said, I still think it's the best ultra wide available on the market today. But it is by no means a no compromise solution. Ironically the bendy version would be perfect for me were it not for the lack of built in speakers. If this had even a 1000R or preferably something around 1200-1600R it would be the perfect monitor. That said, maybe my opinion would change after living with it. And I still may consider purchasing one just for the size and resolution.

This is most certainly the sweet spot for me. I'm not a fan of monitors being too big neither am I a fan of monitors having too aggressive of a curve but in this case the curve helps wrap the larger monitor around my vision without having to push it further away from my seat. Not to mention the excellent PPI which remains at this size.

Cool! Currently using a 49inch 32:9 OLED and the sweet spot does feel to be 21:9 due to games supporting 21:9 more widely, but the GX9 still being big enough with super high resolution to be usable for productivity. The 5k2k seems perfect at 45inch. With the WOLED panel at 21:9 its also a great aspect ratio for movies and the aggressive curve allows incredible immersion. Specs only seems to be the best monitor in the world right now. Also its great to see LG being active here and engaged with its primary audience. Would love to be able to give an in-depth review!

The 45" 5K2K GX9 is true endgame ascension: immersion, clarity, size, speed, no compromises. For productivity, anything below 110 PPI struggles with crisp text at this size, so hitting 125 PPI at 5K2K is perfect. The vertical real estate is a real upgrade from the 34" and 38" ultrawides I use daily. LG's OLEDs are already S-tier for media — I love the deep, inky colors on my G4 and it would be incredible to bring that same experience to my desk with the GX9. My 4090 should handle 5K2K fine, but having the flexibility of 330Hz at FHD (+ DLSS) is such a smart option for max framerate when needed.

The 21:9 aspect ratio is definitely the most important factor and the sweet spot for me, wider than that and I feel like the drawbacks are starting to be more apparent, whether it's elements being harder to see in your peripheral vision, or in-game interfaces not being located properly, or games straight-up not supporting that aspect ratio. After that, size, resolution and refresh rate come into play, with bigger numbers usually being better, assuming you have the physical room for it, and the hardware to power it all. I guess there is a limit to how noticeable it can be, though, and you end up with diminishing returns the higher you go. The GX9 seems perfect in that regard, whether it is PPI or the ability to switch between the two refresh rate modes.

But the QD-OLEDs also have some very bad fringing despite the RGB layout. I think the subpixel layout of the LG 45GX950A is superior. 3 year warranty wont be there if brightness is upped to 1000 nits ;) OLED will NEVER be the perfect monitor. Maybe we will achieve perfection with MicroLEDs, but I dont see it with OLEDs right now

Having tried and loving both 48" and 42" monitors, I think the sweet spot for an ultrawide monitor is exactly the 45" of the GX9. I always liked ultrawide format, but it was lacking in two areas that the GX9 solves: * 1440p pixel density and screen / window real estate is too low * for games not supporting >= 21:9, having a built-in way to switch to 16:9 is needed

UPDATE: Did some Cyberpunk benchmarking. Check it out at the bottom. My Specs: New Build * RTX 5090 * Ryzen 7 9800X3D * Windows 11 Pro Connection: DisplayPort, DAS On, G-Sync On, HDR On Previous Monitor: * LG - UltraGear 45" OLED Curved WQHD 240Hz 0.03ms * 45GS96QB-B * I loved this monitor so much. 3440x1440 was the sweet spot for clarity and high refresh rate. First of all, I was extremely hesitant to upgrade my screen because of how much I loved the previous LG OLED. I play a lot of FPS and competitive games, and was worried about the frames I was giving up, but the dual mode had me very intrigued. Plus, I got really lucky getting my hands on a 5090, and figured it was time to make the 4k/5k jump now that there's an ultrawide that is capable. I've always been an ultrawide gamer and refused to go back to 16x9 even for 4k. Right out of the box, this monitor looks exactly like the last one. That's not a bad thing. It's a great looking monitor, and I'm not at all bothered by the 800R curve since it's identical to the one I have. I actually love the 800R curve for both productivity and gaming. No notes. **Pain Points when setting up:** The DP connection didn't work upon first attempt. I just kept getting a black screen when in 5120x2160 HDR mode. It only worked when I would hit the button for dual mode (2560x1080). Even turning HDR off presented issues. I used the DP cord from the box, plus one of my own. I read that there were other users having the same issue. The solve that I found was going into the monitor settings and bumping it down to DP 1.4 instead of 2.1. That solve has been working great so far, but I'm not sure if there are any drawbacks that I'm not aware of at 1.4, so if you're more knowledgeable on that let me know! **Productivity first impressions:** Wow! So clear! So many pixels! I know a complaint about my previous LG OLED was that text was jagged. This didn't bother me, but it's a reasonable complaint. There are no such issues with the new 5K2K. Text is very clear, but the resolution makes it so small that I have to bump it up by about 10% via Windows settings. I haven't done actual work yet on it (since it's the weekend), but it playing around with it, I don't foresee any issues. Love the extra real estate thanks to the better resolution. And, Windows makes it easy to snap windows in corners or splitting them up into thirds. **Gaming** Alright, now to the important stuff. Gaming has involved a whole lot of tinkering to get it looking right for my standards. I'm obsessive when it comes to high frame rates for competitive games and low latency. Of course I knew I would be getting lower frames at the higher resolution, but I wasn't sure if it would be that noticeable to me beyond 165hz. The truth is, it looks terrific in 5120x2160 in games like Call of Duty (Multiplayer and Warzone), Fortnite, and Rocket League. 5k caming is the real deal if you have the hardware to push the frames. Here are some frame data I was seeing in these games (I limited the FPS in each game to 165). * Call of Duty - 150-165 FPS, 10-15ms Latency * Fortnite - 165 FPS with very occasional drops, 15ms Latency * Rocket League - rock solid 165 FPS, 0ms Latency (not surprising for an old game) It took a ton of settings tinkering to get those FPS and latency. After a lot of tests, I discovered that DLAA anti-aliasing looks the best, but drops frames by about 20%, and doubles latency. DLSS and FXAA produced far better results and result in the numbers above. I'll stick with DLAA when it's an option for single-player games in the future. I messed around with frame gen, which looked great and doubled my frames with minimal noticeable weirdness, but it dropped the latency to 40ms, which is unacceptable. **Let's talk Dual Mode** The LG 5K2K has a super convenient button underneath the screen that quickly swaps from 5k mode to 2560x1080. This "dual mode" was huge selling point for me as I like to have the ability to play at 330hz, but I was really worried that 1080 would look too crappy for gaming. I was right. I can't see myself ever wanting to drop this monitor down to 2560x1080. It doesn't look good in Call of Duty or Fortnite (or any game for that matter). 165hz at 5k2k is so much better than 300FPS in 2560x1080. I really wish that this monitor's dual mode was 3440x1440 at 250-300 FPS. Swapping between 2560x1080 and 5k2k is so jarring. So, it looks like I'm keeping this thing in 5k2k for the foreseeable future and I'll sadly miss my previous monitor's 3440x1440 240hz. Bottom line here is it seems more like a gimmick than an actual usable feature. Is there something I'm missing here? Let me know what you think! I'll have more thoughts the more I use this. I'm getting used to it and like it a lot, but there are some tradeoffs and things I'm not a fan of. But you really can't beat 5k2k at 165hz. **UPDATE with Cyberpunk benchmark numbers:** All tests done in 5120x2160 res. Everything full maxed out with full ray tracing of all types, DLSS: quality | Average FPS 47 | Min: 40 | Max: 52 **Same settings with 2x Frame Gen:** Average FPS: 88 | Min: 81 | Max 97 | Latency: 50ish ms **Same settings with 4x Frame Gen:** Average FPS: 160 | Min: 147 | Max: 176 | Latency: 60ish ms GPU temps were around 75°-77°. That’s the highest I’ve seen so far. **Ultra settings Ray Tracing off (no frame Gen):** Average FPS: 91 | Min: 79 | Max: 115 | Latency: 25ish ms

I absolutely love my 45gx950a but I have a 4090 and this screen makes me want a 5090. The better your hardware the more you'll enjoy this screen. Mid tier hardware might enjoy a 1440p uwqhd version instead. I should mention I mostly play high fidelity games. I have no problem with FPS games like Apex legends on acceptable high frame rates

I think the 45GX950A is currently a unicorn if you have the hardware to push it. It is matte but not noticeable in anything but text when the screen is running and barely for that because it's a 5k screen so pretty sharp images. It gets higher ppi than smaller qhd ultrawides even though it's 45 inches diagonally. The matte coating keeps glare down. The woled pixels aren't a vibrant as qdoled so i bump the digital vibrance up a bit and it makes colors pop more like qdoled to my eyes. I have a glossy lg woled screen too and i nearly exclusively use the 45GX950A for gaming just because the amount of picture with great ppi I get. I use a 5090 so I'm maxing out the frame rate. I dont see flickers like some people complain about. With high frame rates I don't see stutter so can't speak to that. There are rumors a glossy version might come out next year. I would upgrade at that point because I do prefer glossy but currently nothing else can fill this niche the same for me and now I can't leave it void.

I don't agree on his view on 800R . I think the curve is perfect for 45 inch Ultrawide. I have been using this monitor for the past 2 months and 800R is perfect for gaming / working as you don't have to move your neck sideway frequently. So 800R is bad for any monitor size less than 45 inch or any desk with depth bigger than 30 inches. The ideal sitting distance for 800R curve is between 24-30 inches.

I am rocking this one with a 4090, your 4090 will have rouble keeping up with this resolution on newer titles. Having said this I had to add a scaled resolution of 3840x1620 in Windows, and most games I play at that resolution will play just fine. I am coming from another Ultrawide with 3840x1600 resolution so I knew that this scaled res would be ok for the 4090. Now I am waiting on the 5090s to come back into stock.

If I recall correctly, the original 49" Neo G9 has full array local dimming, and is VA w/ 1ms response times. Movie watching is still more enjoyable on a 21:9, in my opinion/ experience, as it will soak up all the screen real estate. If you were willing to compromise for OLED, the upcoming 21:9 LG 45" 5k2k display sounds amazing if movies are a big second factor after productivity. For context, I have owned an IPS LG 34" UW, and currently use an OG G9. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in, thought I'd share my 2¢ anyways :3

Going by what I been reading on Reddit about this monitor at the very least, coupled with my own testing with the monitor, some people don’t really understand what they are buying and how these monitors work. They just follow trends, just want the latest n greatest, or gets sucked into the novelty. You are def paying a tax in performance and cost to use this. I see misinformation get spread as a fact and then more misinformed people get reeled in by misinformation. I tried to stop some of it, with users claiming this monitor runs 3440x1440 in dual mode, but the ignorance is too strong. They didn’t even try to learn or research why the monitor accepted it as a custom resolution and very little research would have told them it’s just super sampling that resolution and still looks worse that 3440 x 1440 native at that same size. I bring this up because some used the misinformed feature as a way to justify the purchase, telling me some are just trying to defend themselves from buyers remorse. Monitor is nice, and someone could say they are future proofing themselves to justify it. What I learned is that by the time you can utilize what the monitor can offer, something better may have already came out. So just wasted money buying something that can’t even be fully utilized when there are cheaper options that you can utilize now. Just get what you can use now. Definitely not a great price point for what you can realistically expect. Even with a 5090 you still need to dlss and turn setting down on modern games for decent fps. And since you are sitting closer to a bigger monitor, 100 fps is actually worse than 100fps on a smaller monitor at the same viewing distance. Viewing distance can affect perceived fps as well. But if you are conditioned to let numbers satisfy what you see, then I don’t think people will realize this. Same with viewing distance and resolution. Some people can’t just admit, they bought something they can’t even use, or made a bad purchase. You can make a bad purchase and still be ok with it. It doesn’t have to be justified when you are just doing something you want. Just don’t let the physiological factors manipulate and control you. These companies and CEOs understand this very well and use this against us consumers. Of course if you have expendable money then most of this does not matter.

The 45" size at 5K2K is definitely the sweet spot for an immersive ultrawide monitor. The PPI provided makes it suitable for both gaming and productivity, and the 165hz would help to provide great motion clarity for a great viewing experience with an ultrawide moniitor.

The 45" 5K2K 21:9 format is the current sweet spot for ultrawide—high pixel density (~125 PPI), immersive 800R curvature, and enough horizontal space for both productivity and gaming. Dual-mode 165Hz/330Hz refresh is a game-changer, especially paired with OLED contrast and HDR at 1300 nits. My 4090 has been waiting for a while for a new monitor, both for productivity and gaming. Would love to test it and share in-depth insights with the community.

Been using this monitor as soon it relaxed and honestly love it. Switch between gaming / work and I really don’t understand when people complain about the curve. It’s not like it’s horrible or you can’t see anything anymore, if anything, I like how curved this monitor is. Can’t speak much for the dual mode since I only ever keep it max resolution which locks it to 165 hz, but everything looks lovely. Well worth the pick up if you’re looking for a solid OLED.

Dell 40 5k2k. It's the best monitor out right now. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-ultrasharp-40-curved-thunderbolt-hub-monitor-u4025qw/apd/210-bmdp/monitors-monitor-accessories? For gaming the 45 OLED 5k2k might win, but it still has a lower PPI than the 40 with the same resolution. OLED is a negative for programming as well. The 57 Samsung is a monster and their QC is substandard at best. LG also makes a 40 5k2k, but it's only 72hz. That what I use and it's great. No issues and I'm in text all day like a programmer.

I know alot of people have asked and looked for this Information and I'm here to bring it to you. Like alot of you upgrading a montior you've adapted too over a few years is hard. Change is hard. I've always been a fan of QD oleds Samsung panels in general. My last 2 have been the g9 oled and the aw32 240hz oled. Switching over the the lg out of the box was difficult the colours where all blown out and my aw32 blew the socks off the lg in terms of colour vibrancy brightness and colour accuracy. However after putting them side by side and tinkering with nvidia control panel I tried my best to match the stock colour profile of the alienware next to the lg and I'm not far off. Main things I noticed was the pixel sharpness/text clarity sadly it doesn't come close to the aw32 however it's still very good we got to take into concideration this is a 45 inch monitor. Also I notice the lg has alot more blue tint on white. The only way I manged to get it to be fair a nice pure snow white was to lower the nvidia digital vibrancy to 45 and yes I know alot of you have said to put it up but it washes out the colour pallet on this monitor and contrast. NVIDIA settings after a windows HDR calibration Brightness 55, contrast 50, gammer 110 digital vibrancy 45 LG settings gamer 2 on the lg and adjusting the sharpness to 65, black equiliser to 70, and warm 1 in HDR I managed to get these results Get more punch by disabling crc in the service menu as well by turning the monitor off and pressing left 3 times right once then power on. It helps alot maintain a consistent brightness across the screen. I thought the lower refresh rate would bother me however after comparing side by side can say they feel the same if anything the lg feels slightly more responsive. Tests was completed without g sync I don't think I can go back to the 16/9 again I may end up keeping this montior il give it a few more days What's your guys thoughts?

I ordered both and returned the LG. TL;DR: The 57" G9 was better suited for my use case of primarily productivity. Because it's a MiniLED, I am never worried about burn-in and the massive width allows me to run 3 windows side-by-side with a ton of space. For gaming, however, the LG wins hands down. The form factor, OLEDness, and curve are incredibly immersive. So basically, if you do more productivity, go with 57" G9. If you do more gaming, go with LG. If you're exactly 50/50... roll the dice.

I think 45" is already perfect for 21:9 5K2K, but it would be even more ideal if the curvature weren't that extreme. Maybe like 1000R will be better for this monitor if the user has enough table depth. Another thing I like about this monitor is that it has Dual-Mode feature like the 32" one. So when I play fast-paced FPS games, I can lower my resolution but get twice the refresh rate. Thank you for the opportunity, u/LG_UserHub!

The sweet spot for an ultra wide monitor, for me, is specifically the 5k2k resolution. Enough real estate for productivity work without the need for a second screen and amazing resolution in games. 39-45 inches in size is the sweet spot in terms of size. The only thing missing from this monitor to make it perfect in my opinion is the 240hz refresh rate. But what an amazing display.

G9 57 inch or the dell 5k2k IPS black panel, or that new lg 45 inch 5k2k. All options around the 2k mark. Half the price, consider a $1k g9 49 inch but as others said, the va version. Or do as I did, g9 oled G93SC and a 4 year warranty that covers burn in (I got the Allstate plan sold by staples). That 240 Hz can do picture by picture at 120 Hz (without vrr or HDR while in pbp mode) that essentially gives you 2x 27 inch 1440p monitors without the bezel. 1.5 months in, doing 8 hours a day of excel and outlook and a web browser and I love it. I use power toys fancy zones to split my 2 monitors in 3 zones so I have the best of both worlds (I often have to share my screen for presentations and sharing the full 5120x1440 to other people (most of them on 1080p monitors) is too impractical but everyone can see a 1440p monitor just fine. Sharing just one app is also possible... Or a zone... But 2 cables from the laptop to the monitor solved this problem for my work usage, and I use only 1 cable for the gaming PC. I know you don't play, but trying Forza 5, GTA V, FS 2024 is a literal game changer! Even just google earth on that monitor is something else! Hope you find your monitor soon!

I thought there were another g9 oled when I read the original post since I also have both plus g9 original 800r. I wish g9 oled was 800r. I love the oled but like this tight wraparound fr immersion. 1000r is better for productivity but I am using 800r for work, 1000r oled for gaming fixed with my simrig and lg 5k2k for general gaming and working (another room)

If you're thinking about ultrawide, then go for the 45" LG5K2K OLED screen (45GX950A-B). It's an aggressive curve, but seems to be very well reviewed so far.

I sent mines back. I thought I would like it but noticed colors, brightness and immersion were the biggest downgrade moving from my S95D to the LG 45GX. Unfortunately, Ultrawide is no more for me. My realization was that I prefer bigger displays. Patiently waiting for the LG G5 48" to see if that's better.

Debated posting, but I'll give it a shot now. We can use a multi-stage process quite opinionated view of how I see each major criteria, and then combine it together for an answer. **Aspect Ratio** **16:9:** Is not ultrawide! Surely it shall join the bygone era of 4:3. I still have to argue with friends to try out ultrawide haha. **21:9:** Props to not just attaching two 16:9's together. I view 21:9 perhaps not as the ultimate sweet spot for every purpose, but as the best jack-of-all-trades. For FPS, your peripheral vision still fits in nicely, for racing, it's still immersive enough, for MMOs, you're getting enough real estate for your needs, for single player AAA adventures, you're getting immersed, etc. Movie content can fit really well. Productivity and editing may fall short of 32:9, but it's still fantastic. **32:9:** Amazing for certain types of games, but not all (emphasis on FPS). As mentioned by LG itself, avoiding the fisheye that comes with a 32:9 is beneficial. The endless balancing between Quake Pro and the sides of your screen looking funky sometimes gets annoying. Of course, I will say the productivity is great. **Others:** It's just not mainstream enough. I cannot speak on behalf of the small changes of a 24:10 or the whack of a 58:9 LG Ultra Stretch, but I'd prefer to work with something I know some level of support will come with. **Screen Size to Resolution** | Monitor Size | 2560×1080 (UW-FHD) | 3440×1440 (UW-QHD) | 3840×1600 (UW-WQHD) | 5120×1440 (SUW-QHD) | 5120×2160 (SUW-4K) | |:-------------|:-------------------|:--------------------|:---------------------|:---------------------|:-------------------| | **29"** | *Sharp enough and useful in my books if you like secondary ultrawide monitors, good PPI.* ✅ | *I don't believe it exists + overkill.* ❌ | *Doesn't exist.* 🚫 | *Doesn't exist.* 🚫 | *Is this even feasible?* 🚫 | | **34"** | *Pushing it here. Maybe if you need a large screen on a budget.* ⚠️ | *Sweet spot for 34" ultrawide—great clarity.* ✅ | *Doesn't exist.* 🚫 | *Doesn't exist.* 🚫 | *Look, I'll take it, but a bit much? Nearly 165 PPI.* ✅ | | **38"** | *Doesn't exist, shouldn't exist.* 🚫 | *We're leaving the sweet spot now.* ⚠️ | *I think it's a great middle option.* ✅ | *Doesn't exist.* 🚫 | *I'll also take it. I think 40" exist around here.* ✅ | | **45"** | *Doesn't exist, shouldn't exist.* 🚫 | *It's simply too large now for 1440p. I understand some people accept it, but 83ish PPI...bit too low.* ❌ | *Doesn't exist.* 🚫 | *Opinion here doesn't differ that much from the 49". I think if you want something a tinch smaller, this is great.* ✅ | *Ah, the GX9. I think for the size of the monitor, it's fantastic. I personally lean to larger monitors, and I think the PPI holds strong here.* ✅ | | **49"** | *Doesn't exist, shouldn't exist.* 🚫 | *Doesn't exist, shouldn't exist.* 🚫 | *Doesn't exist, shouldn't exist.* 🚫 | *I think if a super ultrawide is your jazz, then this resolution to size is great. I love super ultrawides and see a use case here.* ✅ | *I think realistically it's still fine. I'd just be cautious about lowering PPI again.* ⚠️ | *57" is cool but goodness goodbye my neck.* **Refresh Rate** 1. **60 Hz:** 🤮. OK, rude, but for web browsing and productivity? Sure. Gaming? No thank you. 2. **75 Hz:** Feels like you're being teased for what could have been a better life. 3. **100 Hz:** OK, better, better, starting to feel it more, but surely... 4. **120 Hz:** I'm content with this for many things. 5. **144 Hz:** I think for most non-competitive gaming, I'm content. 6. **165 Hz:** Feels like the new 144 Hz these days. I prefer it to 144 Hz of course. 7. **200 Hz:** Great stuff, hope I have a decent GPU. 8. **240 Hz:** I really hope I have a good GPU. I'll take this for all tasks. 9. **300 Hz+:** At this point I'll 100% take this for all tasks. **Panel Type** 1. **TN:** Goodness me, if I can avoid it, I will. Flashy refresh rates out there I guess...and that's about it. 2. **VA:** Such a common panel, and honestly, decent enough. I unfortunately get the motion blur, but I do get the better blacks. 3. **IPS:** Well, I'm sacrificing the blacks again but I'm getting some great colour here. 4. **OLED:** Ah yes, while some may complain about text readability and the risk of burn in, very few can deny it being the ultimate choice. The colours, blacks, response time, you name it, it has it. **Curve** This is interesting as I'm not entirely sure how to judge this or make a table/list for it. I recently had an Odyssey G9 (which has failed on me), and it had 1000R. Without that 1000R I'm sure color shifting when looking at my far right/left and my neck life itself would have been a bit worse off - so I do appreciate what a curve brings, especially in the immersion factor. 800R? For a 45"? Seems radical, but I like the sound of it. At the end of the day, it might be quite an opinionated topic, and for those that are on the fence about it might just select to wait for the bendable version. But I appreciate the engineering that has gone into creating such a curve, as well as having a curve than not having one as per my reasoning above. **Verdict** So what is the *sweet spot*? Well, the progression of panel technology comes heavily into play and when you ask someone. If I had asked this question 10 years ago then the sweet spot they would have mentioned then is invalid now. Perhaps 10 years from now I'd accept no less than 10240 x 4320 for my ultrawides. Personally, if I need a large monitor (because if I need a small my sweet spot changes), I'd say the GX9 is hitting it. The PPI is high enough to be impressive - not stupidly high that I can't notice it. 165 Hz is a good compromise until 240 Hz and higher I assume comes out later. OLED is something I'm dying to get into for a modern gaming monitor, and I think leaning into and accepting 800R is appropriate for such a size. Oh and 5120x2160? Sounds good to me. 330 Hz on dual mode hopefully scratches an itch here and there, especially that many won't have the budget to even get a GPU to bring their games to 165 Hz for the native resolution mode. With framerate aside, at least from what I'm reading, the specs of this monitor honestly might represent the sweet spot at the moment until the consensus for our definition of a sweet spot decides to change. I guess all I can promise is to give an analysis if selected to prove my thoughts.

Amazing post! The only thing I disagreed with is your view on the curve. For me, it was a total deal breaker having such an extreme curve that only looks good when you're 3 feet away from it. 80cm is deeper than my desk, I'd have to put it to the back of my desk and sit back away from the desk another cm or too in order to properly view the monitor. For me, that just felt too uncomfortable. I like being semi-close to my monitor. This felt like I could barely see wth was going on, and when the monitor was at my preferred distance (about 70cm) I could clearly see distortion on straight lines, so no matter what I did with this monitor it gave me a severe headache. With that being said, my brain is weak (lol) and I have issues with motion sickness pretty much all the time so I think I was just the worst kind of person to try this monitor out. I'm going to wait for the 39" 5k 2k and go for that, and I think that will be a much better fit for me. I am really bummed because everything else is essentially perfect. This is also probably the best OLED HDR monitor out right now just because of how bright it can get so I still genuinely believe this is like THE best ultra wide out at the moment.

my biggest issue with this monitor so far is I use the USB ports for keyboard/accessories, so I'm forced to use the USB-C connector (vs the USB-B on my old Dell), and no matter what I disable in Windows the monitor sometimes fails to "wake up" as it keeps trying to default to USB-C input. Annoying as hell, as it also resets all my window positions.

Hi all, After watching and reading countless reviews on LG’s new 45" 5K2K (5120x2160) UltraGear WOLED monitor, I finally caved and bought one to see how it compares to my current setup. Spoiler: I’ll be returning it — and I’ll explain why below. **Context:** I’m not in desperate need of a new monitor. I currently daily drive both the Samsung G9 OLED and the G9 Neo Mini-LED. I’ve also owned the original G9. But as a tech enthusiast, I couldn’t resist trying out a 21:9 5K2K WOLED panel — a spec combination I haven’t experienced before. This review is written from the perspective of someone who already owns the Samsung G9 OLED (or similar ultra-wides), and wants to know if the LG 5K2K offers anything better. If you’re in that boat, this is for you. If you still have questions afterward, feel free to ask in the comments. **TL;DR:** Tried the LG 5K2K WOLED monitor (45", 5120x2160) to compare with my Samsung G9 OLED. Returning the LG. * **Productivity:** LG wins. Its taller 21:9 screen fits more usable windows without neck strain. Great for multitasking. * **Gaming Immersion:** Slight edge to LG due to its taller screen feeling more "portal-like," but the G9’s ultra-wide curve still holds strong. * **Color/Vibrancy:** G9 OLED wins. Its QD-OLED + glossy panel has noticeably more pop, especially in games — particles, effects, and colors feel more alive. * **Ergonomics:** LG is better in bright rooms (matte), but G9 feels more immersive in dim settings. **Verdict:** LG 5K2K is great, but G9 OLED is still king for immersive gaming and vibrant visuals. Returning the LG. \------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ # 1. Productivity – LG 5K2K Wins (Surprisingly) This was the biggest shock. The LG absolutely crushed the G9 OLED when it came to productivity. * The 21:9 aspect ratio paired with the 45” diagonal and higher vertical resolution (2160p) gives you a lot more usable vertical space than the 32:9 G9 OLED. * I could comfortably run **six windows** in a 3x2 layout (3 top, 3 bottom), and each one was perfectly legible, even with my less-than-perfect eyesight. * On the G9 OLED, I usually top out at 3 or maybe 4 windows horizontally. Trying to stretch to the sides just strains my neck — that ultra-wide width becomes a disadvantage over long work sessions. * TL;DR: If productivity is your focus, **LG wins hands down**. * One note though, I prefer reading text on my G9 OLED more than the LG5K2K. I don't know what it is, maybe due to how WOLED arranges its subpixels but the font feels a little more blurry to me despite the higher PPI and resolution. # 2. Gaming Immersion – Slight Edge to LG (But It's Subjective) Here’s where things get more nuanced. * The LG 5K2K feels like you're looking through a **portal** because of the taller screen. It fills more of your vertical field of view, which makes the experience more enveloping — particularly for first-person games. * The G9 OLED, being wider but shorter, wraps around your peripheral vision more. That sounds great — and often is — but also means you **see more of your actual environment** around and behind the monitor, which can slightly break immersion. * **HUD placement** was a noticeable issue: * On the G9 OLED, HUD elements can be *too far apart* — pushed to the far corners of the screen — making it harder to glance at key info without turning your head. * On the LG 5K2K, the HUD is tighter, but I found myself moving my **eyes up and down more often**, which became fatiguing over time. I tried adjusting distance and posture, but it remained a minor annoyance. I'd still prefer this over the G9 though tbf. * Weirdly, I felt like I could process what’s happening in a game faster on the G9 OLED. Maybe I’m more used to its layout? # 3. Display Quality / Color Reproduction – G9 OLED Has the Edge This was the **deal-breaker** for me. * **G9 OLED (QD-OLED, Glossy)** delivers richer, more vibrant colors, especially for games. Skill animations, particle effects, and subtle lighting cues just “pop” more. * **LG 5K2K (WOLED, Matte)** is no slouch — it’s still a gorgeous panel and miles better than any non-OLED monitor. I'd even use it over my G9 Mini-LED But: * Reds are slightly muted. * Color transitions feel a bit flatter. * Particles and subtle effects lack the sparkle and depth I’ve grown to expect from the G9. * It’s hard to capture in photos or video, but side-by-side, the difference is noticeable. * I spent **two full days tweaking** settings on the LG — brightness, contrast, HDR modes, color balance — trying to get it to feel like the G9. I got close, but never quite there. Is this a WOLED vs QD-OLED thing? Matte vs Glossy? Both? Possibly. But **if you’re picky about vibrancy and clarity**, the G9 OLED still reigns supreme. # 4. Form Factor & Ergonomics Some quick notes: * **LG 5K2K’s 45" screen** size didn’t feel too small coming from a 49", but I definitely noticed the difference in width. For split-screen multitasking, it’s *fine*. For ultra-wide games, it feels a bit tighter. * The **curve** on the LG is gentler than the G9 OLED. Some people prefer this — personally, I liked the G9’s more aggressive wraparound for gaming. * **Matte vs Glossy**: The LG’s matte coating reduces reflections, which is great for bright rooms. But the G9’s glossy finish enhances perceived contrast and vibrancy, and I personally find it more visually appealing in a dim room. # 5. Performance & FPS Tradeoffs – LG5K2K Demands More for Less Visual Payoff One critical point I haven’t seen covered much in other reviews is **how demanding the LG 5K2K is on your system**, and how that plays into overall experience — especially for gamers. * The **5120x2160 resolution** is no joke. It’s significantly more pixels than the G9 OLED’s 5120x1440 (about **33% more**), which translates into a **noticeable FPS drop** across most modern titles. * In my case, using a **7900XTX**, I consistently saw at least **20% lower frame rates** at native resolution on the LG5K2K compared to the G9 OLED. FSR helps with this greatly but I honestly don't like turning it on or using framegen if at all possible. * For slower-paced or cinematic games, this might not matter much. But in fast-paced shooters or action-heavy games, the performance hit makes a real difference — especially if you value high refresh rates and smooth gameplay. What made this worse is that **the visual payoff didn’t justify the cost**. While the LG5K2K has great image quality, I kept thinking: *"I’m losing what 25–30 FPS just to get slightly less vibrant color?"* That tradeoff didn’t make sense to me — especially when the G9 OLED already looks stunning and runs better. The higher resolution on paper is nice but honestly I didn't notice it too much unless I'm looking at a static picture. I'd totally watch movies on the LG5K2K over the G9 OLED though due to the resolution and taller size. If you don’t have a top-tier GPU or are sensitive to drops in smoothness, the LG’s higher resolution might end up feeling more like a burden than a benefit. # 6. Final Verdict The LG 5K2K is a fantastic monitor. If I didn’t already own the G9 OLED, I might’ve kept it. But for my use case — primarily gaming and productivity — it just doesn’t offer enough to warrant replacing what I already have. * **If you value productivity and prefer taller screens** with less neck strain, the LG might be a better fit for your setup. * **If you want top-tier vibrancy, and color punch,** the G9 OLED still wins. Ultimately, I’ll be returning the LG. It’s a great panel, but not a **better** panel — at least not for me. I really wanted this to be my endgame monitor for the next couple years and one question I had to ask myself was how would I feel if Samsung or someone came out with a 5K2K 45" 21:9 monitor with the same color and vibrancy the G9 QD-OLED offers? I'd no longer want the LG5K2K, I'd want that one! Thanks for reading, and let me know if you have any specific questions I didn’t cover and I'll do my best to answer.

The ideal monitor? Absurd answer from me personally is a monitor that is 3x 27 inch monitors with 800-1000r curve. Turn the middle into a 21:9 aspect ratio with display fusion and the left and right sides used as 2 monitors for media. More grounded ideal monitor would be anything between 34 to 45 inch 21:9 with 5k resolution and at least 144hz refreshrate. I am thinking the 39 inch may be the best for gaming but its not out yet. I have the 45 LG 5k2k and the g9 oled samsung and i am honestly liking the LG ad a more versatile option for work and gaming. It has pbp and pip modes which i use for work sometimes, but i do find the taller screen and higher ppi to be just as good for work compared to the wider 49 oled. The LG also works better for me as it is 21:9 and i dont need to use software to adjust aspect ratios like the g9. I do wish the lg was glossy, however, it is less noticeable than i thought it would be, especially compared to older matte screens. I also make use of the power delivery with my work laptop. I would say a bit better color vibrancy, a remote, slighty more brightness, maybe 1440p secondary mode with 240hz instead of 1080p if thats possible, and maybe a 1000r curve but 800r is acceptable, would be good imrpovements

Still not perfect monitor. Some features that could be better (some of them are personal preference): - 240Hz instead of 165Hz for future GPUs - DP 2.1 with UHBR20 instead of 10 for full resolution without DSC which break gsync/freesync sometimes - 3 year warranty instead of 2 with clear statement that burn-in protection is included - 1800r instead of 800r curve for better productivity viewing - RGB layout instead of RGWB for better text clarity - glossy coating and QD-OLED instead of matte and WOLED for better colors - internal power supply instead of external brick for less clutter on floor - better brightness

What do you mean? People call this monitor perfect, but there are many areas to improve. Sure, apart from obvious upgrades, making it QD-OLED and RGB instead of WOLED and RGWB would make it different monitor, but I was just pointing out that QD-OLEDs have better color coverage and RGB is better for text clarity. Curve is very subjective matter but most people working on 2 or 3 windows open side by side says ui elements seems to be distorted on higher curve and it's harder to work on than with lesser curve.

I ended up selling mine mainly because there is no improvement in image quality compared to a $700 C4 (and 42 C2 from almost 4 years ago). Same posterization, same disgusting near black handling and poor uniformity and same inferior HDR brightness relative to it's 42" counterpart. As your gateway to OLED or if you're a 21:9 fanatic it's great, just not anything special to me as a WOLED user dating back to the 48/55" TV's on my desk. I would have reconsidered had it been a current gen 4 stack WOLED or QD-OLED but the reality is that it's just a stop gap product.

I own a 42 C4 and this 45" is literally the same thing in 21:9 with a refresh rate bump. If it were the 4 stack WOLED of 2025 that ditched MLA and as a result was way brighter + higher color volume this would be a much more appealing product but it's just the same WOLED that's been regurgitated for the past 5 years. I'd also much prefer a QD-OLED version because it may not get as bright but corrects literally all of WOLED's disadvantages. $1299 is probably the appropriate price for this and that's coming from someone who thinks the 32" from last year was way over priced (and still is, should be an $800 display).

The C2-C5 all offer better PQ. Not only because of no matte but because they get brighter and gradations are smoother (not as horrible posterization as found on these monitors). The only real objective advantage this monitor offers is the change in pixel order to improve text. Everything else is all preference. I think it may be wise to wait until a true RGB version goes into production in Q4 2026 seeing that the 32" 16:9 true RGB version is coming around this time 2026. EDIT: Also, I really don't care about how it is brought together as a "product" (USB-C, etc), all I care about is it's performance which is what my statements prior are about.

Until now, ultrawide monitors always seemed to sacrifice vertical pixels, stretching wider but compromising on resolution—especially noticeable for me who wanted to switch my current 32-inch 4K monitor to ultrawide, up untill now there were no options. The GX9 fixes this perfectly. Instead of cutting down vertical resolution, it expands horizontally from 4K to true 5K2K (5120 x 2160), keeping the crisp detail I’m used to and providing the additional width that would seriously boost my workflow. As a photographer and video editor, having that extra horizontal space would be amazing for timelines, multitasking, and productivity. The dual-mode refresh rates (330Hz - 165Hz) are also exactly what I need. Being able to instantly switch to 330Hz for smooth, competitive gaming and then back to 165Hz at full 5K2K resolution for detailed photo editing and other content creation is a dream feature I didn't think we'd see anytime soon. I’d love the chance to test this monitor and share my experience with the community. You can expect a detailed, genuine, and thorough review focused on real-world usage, highlighting both productivity benefits and gaming performance. Huge thanks to LG for listening to the community and creating something truly exciting!

I’ve been digging deep lately into ultrawide setups for my Mac Studio, and the GX9 honestly looks like it hits a new sweet spot with that 5K2K resolution at 125 PPI. Perfect for getting a near-Retina experience without sacrificing the immersive ultrawide feel. Plus, it seems like it can use TB4? Thunderbolt is a G A M E C H A N G E R for me For me, the real sweet spot for an ultrawide is: 1. The 5K2K resolution (I'm coming from an XG49VQ) 2. OLED!!! 3. Refresh rate for smoothness. 4. USB-C/Thunderbolt flexibility without needing adapters, docks and hdmis everywhere People... If the GX9 really nails the brightness and input versatility, it might honestly be the best all-around ultrawide for both Mac and PC users right now. Like, I was going to take a look at the Samsung Odyssey but I'm super happy to see this post thanks to this subreddit. Super excited to see more real-user reviews on this beast!

As someone with both the LG Flex and this monitor. The difference going to a ultrawide at this resolution is immense. Going back to the Flex in its flat mode compared to this is a massive difference while gaming. If you value immersive gaming, this monitor takes the cake by far.

Budget? Does screen size matter? Does it have to be 3440x1440 or just 21:9? If price is absolutely not a concern you could get the LG 45GX950A-B. It's 165hz, 5k2k, 45" 21:9 monitor. And it also has a 21:9 1080p mode that turns the panel into 330hz. I think it's probably one of the best 21:9 monitors available. But it's also like $2000usd. If you want a 34" 3440x1440 OLED then Alienware AW3423DWF or the Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED are both good options.

This 45 inch OLED is the sweet spot because it’s immersive enough for both productivity and gaming. The 5K2K resolution and 165hz/330Hz refresh rate looks perfect for everything I use it for.

Ive been an LG 21:9 user for years and could never go back. The extra height and curve of the 5K2K make it a tempting upgrade! Traditionally I would have said 34" 3440x1440 is the sweet spot, but the size of this new panel has me reconsidering.

What do you think is a good price? Philips evnia has a 34” oled for 550. 34” oled 240 is around 800 and the 165/175 can be had for 600 to 700 depending on sales. I don’t think oled is going to go below that price anytime soon. On new… the 34” 240hz is a relatively recent release of last year so it’s been only a year since the release. We currently have the 45” oled 5k2k out now. On anything new.. the 40” 5k2k oled should be amazing but going to be expensive and not out yet. -39”/40” eehhh close enough. If you don’t want to wait and get the best price, check out the Philip evnia 34” oled for 550. The dwf is overpriced right now. https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#sort=price&r=344001440&P=7,9

I guess you can put it to preference…. I don’t like 27” 4k.. text is too small and trying to get text to look good and not be too big to lose the 4k size…. It’s just not good. Basically, a 3440x1440 at 39”.. the text will be bigger. The actually benefit is just bigger size but the use screen is still the same as a 34” 3440x1440. If you want a bigger monitor and proper resolution, look at 38” 3940x1600 or the new 45 5k2k. When looking at monitor, you shouldn’t just look at size … you need to look at resolution to size. 4k - 32”+, anything smaller may give more ppi but the actual image size will be bad visually.. if you can’t see it well since it’s too small, what’s the point. 34” - 3440x1440, this seems to work really well. It’s not just me but many others who use it. Higher res may work for this size but… it may have the same issues as too high res for the size. We won’t know until it comes out and people try it. 38” - 3840x1600, this seems to be a proper size to res. It’s also a great work size due to the higher height resolution. The unfortunate part .. it’s not a standard size so they are expensive and most are older models. Nothing new for this size/resolution. 39” - these are mostly cheaper 3440x1440 due to bad resolution to size. There are more expensive versions as you can see but not worth it in my opinion. -other res may exist but the most likely one is 3440x1440 49 - 5120x1440, 2 1440p monitors basically. This is a popular 32:9 monitor size and from users… it seem to work well. This may get 5k2k versions and that might work really well thought the size maybe a little different. There are other sizes but those are the basic ultrawide sizes that I have seen. -57”, this is a nich size for ultrawide so didn’t add this. If you got this, you know you want it.

The sweetspot for me is definitely this monitor. 32" just isn't large enough and we've been stuck on 1440p for so long. The fact that this has an aggressive curve means it'll probably be even more immersive imo (coming from a 1800R ultrawide).

Control, Cyberpunk, the Oblivion remaster... And anyone surprised that the absurdly high resolution results in lower frames is just being dumb. It's a pretty simple concept and not the fault of the monitor whose job is to output a great image...which this does. I have it because I care more about the awesome ultrawide resolution over having 140 frames just to pretend anything lower is unplayable like Reddit. And if I want more frames I can just run it in 1440 or lower settings...

Again, why would that be a disappointment? You know what the hardware is capable of. The only reason to be disappointed is if you didn't understand the basic idea that it would be substantially harder to push. And people suggesting that the monitor sucks because it's hard to push are absolutely blaming the monitor. That's not a monitor sucking. And yes, 60 fps is shittier in the same sense that 310hp is shittier than 550hp in a car. It's shittier in a way that really doesn't matter but people pretend it does.

It's a great purchase for people that want it. It's not for those that don't. That's the point. It's the very definition of a luxury item. And reddit values FPS when they want to circlejerk about it...then they value resolution when they want to circlejerk about it. Meanwhile most people aren't complaining about "only" 60fps or "only" 1440p when most people are running 5 year old hardware anyway and just enjoying whatever they're playing.

I was talking about 5 year old hardware. That was part of my point... That's why I mentioned it.. And my logic is I get good frames with and also value the resolution. I never said I don't get decent frames. And you are not the arbiter of what a good purchase is. Again, it's good for those that want it and not good for those that don't. Again, it's a luxury item. Also, news flash, but there are cars that are amazing cars and aren't road legal. People buy them. For shit tons of money. They consider them good purchases. I can approach this without bias because I'm not one of the drooling morons who thinks this is a lifestyle of some sort and not just wasting money on a hobby. These are luxury items. This one performs incredibly well. If you like it, it's a good purchase...there aren't better options available offering what this does. If you don't like it and don't care for the tradeoffs involved, it's not a good purchase.

Ah, there's the good old Reddit circlejerk. 60 fps isn't even decent... And yes, I'd happily play things at a stable 50 fps. It's what a lot of did for years and years of gaming. Also, again, getting way more than 60 fps. And finally, you aren't the arbiter of what a good purchase is. Please feel free to go navel gaze some more about frames though.

It was $1700 with tax for one, basically no one paid the MSRP for this. And again, I'm getting over 100 fps in everything I'm playing. I'm not sure why you keep suggesting I'm not getting decent fps. And 60 fps is decent fps as well. And I'm not defending anything, I've said very little about the monitor itself. I've said people like you who circlejerk about fps and pretend 60 isn't even decent are dumb, that you're dumb for trying to decide what is and isn't a good purchase for others, and continually correcting you about what performance I'm getting. You don't seem very bright since you can't even follow the conversation.

I am returning it the 45GX950A-B, don’t know if this will help anyone. IMO 1. Curve is to aggressive for anything but gaming and even then, it depends on which game. 2. To dark. Really dark towards the edge/sides 3. Some of the functions did not work. Did not ship with crosshair on/off just off, dual mode wigged everything out. 4. I did enjoy the large size of it, great rez that came through on some games...but the curve kills it. Ill be back for the bendable one later this year.

Yet another 5K2K post, sorry! Had this big boy for a little less than a month now and just wanted to share some impressions as a product designer working on a M1 MacBook Pro by day and a gamer with an RTX 4080 by night. I've been in the market for a new monitor for years, I'm the type who thinks, compares and evaluates a lot before purchasing. I like taking my time. I wanted a future-proof monitor fit both for work and gaming with a large size and amazing picture quality, never mind the budget, coming from an 8 years old LG ultrawide 38" 75Hz IPS (quite the step up)! **Performance (gaming)** I was initially concerned whether my 4080 could actually handle this baby, especially considering resolution vs FPS in games. I've read and watched a ton about people with 4090s and 5090s stating that if you don't have the latest and greatest, this monitor isn't for you. I realize that a 4080 isn't that far off below but I'm still getting an amazing experience, far better than what I had hoped for because of these critics. If you're on the fence, I think a 4070 or a 3080 will be enough if you know how to tweak some settings, and you'll be golden once you switch to a newer GPU (which you probably shouldn't rush to). In Cyberpunk I'm getting 100-120 FPS with raytracing on and DLSS performance (which btw looks simply stunning to me already). In other relatively recent games (Spiderman series, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet and Clank, Far Cry 6, Forza Horizon, etc.) tweaking some settings I'm getting an incredibly satisfying experience with 120-160 FPS at 5k and generally high settings. I assume DSC is working as an advantage here. I do get a black flash when win/tabbing from a game to Windows and conversely but it's very much acceptable. I'm not sure how capricious can one be, I'm honestly very, very happy. **Performance (macOS)** With an M1 MacBook Pro, I expected 165Hz but instead it's capped at 100Hz at full resolution through USB-C (I think more recent models will have the full refresh rate without problems). I'm setting it to a variable refresh rate of 48-100Hz and it's still totally fine for desktop work usage. I sometimes do meetings using Google meet with several participants on my MacBook screen and Figma at full res on the LG and in this unique occurrence, I get some lag and I can hear the MacBook's fans a lot, which left me slightly disappointed. Otherwise it's been great and I'm digging the crazy real estate: I can use Figma full screen or split screen with a prototype on the side and I still feel like I have space to work, and on another space I have three vertical windows side by side, it's really enjoyable. Who needs a dual monitor setup, just get an ultrawide right!? I would of course advise to get some kind of window manager, I use Moom on Mac (couldn't find better honestly), and FancyZones on Windows which is excellent. **Picture quality** Being OLED is of course the massive game changer, picture quality is beyond everything my eyes have ever seen before on a monitor. The blacks… oh my god! I used to be burn-in anxious and I have been considering MiniLED options, especially for durability. I really want my things to last as much as possible hence why I treat myself with amazing gear — I'm lucky enough that I can afford it. We'll see how it goes and I do take precautionary measures (using dark mode, hiding menu bars and icons, pixel shifting, pixel cleaning — it's automatic btw, all that jazz). It's been a journey for me to accept that as OLED generations go, it seems to get better. Hopefully I will not regret it but so far I can definitely say that I feel like I made the right choice. OLED is really something else… Now there *is* a veeery slight purple tint to it when it's off, like barely noticeable. I have read extensively about these technologies and here I thought only QD-OLEDs had that issue, well it turns out it's also true with WOLED to some extent. I tend to have a very accurate eye for color though so it's probably not super noticeable in general and I can't compare anyway as I've never seen a QD-OLED in real life. Whatever, not a problem at all. **The curve** I know this is a matter of debate and I've hesitated to wait for the bendable version, but let me tell you as a designer that the 'straight line' debate is total bullshit. This monitor is 800R, meaning 800mm of radius. This means that if you sit dead center at 80cm, as it was designed for, you get the optimal experience: since you're in the center of the circle, everything looks straight (and I deal with a lot of straight lines), the reflections are gone and everything is dandy. You do get a weird echo when sitting at the right spot when you speak though, it's not disturbing to me, just a little funny. Overall I got used to the agressive curve in no time, it felt almost natural out of the box and I do not regret waiting for the bendable one at all. One doubt that I had before getting it is when sitting further back. To my surprise, it turns out that it's also very nice. Sometimes I want to chill console-mode so I lower my desk, bring the monitor forward and lay down on my couch, for playing FIFA with my gf or any other game really it's super enjoyable. The sheer size of it makes it look like an ultrawide TV, pair that with a DualSense controller with a lot of games compatible with the PS5 shenanigans and you get the console experience, like owning a PS5 on steroids! About getting used to the curve: I still have my LG 38" 2300R at work and use it every week, it now feels like it's a flat screen lol! **Brightness and reflections** One issue that I had with my IPS is that my room is exposed to the south, and very bright. I felt like a basement rat geek having to choose between actually seeing my screen properly or enjoying some sun (I always chose the former and I'm as white as a pill). Now I can open my blinds to a decent amount, enjoy some natural light, feel like the vampire in me is gone and actually enjoy the screen as well. With the 800R curve, like I said if you sit in the center, all the reflections are gone. It's crazy, feels like magic but it's actually physics! Yeah, again the curve is great. I've also heard a lot about glossy vs matte coating. I'm team glossy all day, comparing the picture quality of my previous IPS with my MacBook's MiniLED reflective screen was proving me right every day. In the case of the LG 5K2K, it's an in-between. There is no matte coating, there's a degree of matte and reflection. This is key to understanding this debate, for an 800R curved 45" monitor going glossy would've been terrible for sure. The coating is barely matte and it keeps the reflections away beautifully. I think LG did a tremendous job on that, no question there. It's also very bright, being late to the OLED game I've heard a lot of people complaining about this technology's lack of brightness. Well, seems like this generation has gone a long way because it is bright!! In SDR there is simply no issue, and HDR can push up to 1500 nits at peak brightness, so I've heard. It definitely feels like that in person, I usually play games in HDR and it's suuuuper contrasty. Cyberpunk with CDPR's HDR model is one of the best things I've ever seen in life (and I've seen great things)! **Resolution** Absolutely amazing. It feels like a 4K monitor (just ultrawide) even at this size, which it should of course, but can't complain one bit. Text is very crisp and sharp, when designing for mobile and web it's absolutely perfect. On the gaming side, I value more FPS over resolution and I even tried lowering my resolution in-game to a non native 1440p ultrawide for some games just to juice out the sweet sweet FPS. I know this is a bad practice in general but interestingly I found out that this wasn't as dramatic of a loss when jumping from 5K to 1440p. I guess it's because the resolution is so high to begin with. So if you're worried about performance, there's still this middle ground option. **Dual mode** I did try dual mode just to see how 330Hz looks like. I am no e-sport champion and have yet to try a competitive game such as CS2 with this mode. I can see the difference in refresh rate but I'm a story-mode single player noob person anyway and the resolution drop is just too much at full size that I don't see myself using it anyway. I see the point, I think it's great and can be really useful to some people but my eyes hurt at 1080p ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ **Ergonomics** I've been trying the stand for a week out of the box. I have a large desk (180x80cm) and I still appreciated its L-shaped low profile. I also loved the up-down motion, very smooth. It feels like it doesn't take up too much space and you can put a laptop on the base if you wanted to. I however ended up switching to my monitor arm one week after, that was the plan all along but I think despite the stand being great it's still better to use the arm as you're getting maximum space with this configuration, so might as well do that. The presence of USB-C 90WPD was a game-changer to me as a MacBook user. It was in my ultimate monitor checklist as one of the 'deal breaker' items so I am absolutely glad it's there, especially at that wattage. The OSD is nice and clear, no issues there. Do I wish it came with a remote? Kinda yes, but I also don't really care. I wish however that it came with an integrated KVM-switch, that was one of the items on my checklist too, not a deal breaker though but that would have been very nice for easier cable management. Oh well… **Design** I'm the type of person who values esthetics too, I like it minimal and uncluttered and searching for this type of monitor, I'm especially happy that LG came out on top spec-wise, because their design is the best kind of design: almost invisible. I don't mean the size of it, it's an absolute monster of a monitor, but the bezels are clean, without any logo, any chin, any RGB gamer nonsense or agressive esthetics. This is actually quite important to me and am I glad to see that 45" curved madness floating above my desk every day in all its simple glory. **Conclusion** Overall, many qualify this monitor as the endgame. I wholeheartedly agree. Will LG or the competition do better at some point? Undoubtably yes. Fortunately it will mean that prices will continue going down and hopefully everyone can access better products over time. This LG 45" 5K2K completely blew my mind and continues to do so every day, I can honestly say that this is one of the best purchases I've ever made, even at this hefty price tag (I pre-ordered it in France for about 1700€ plus delivery). When you think about the non-OLED, 32-inch 60Hz Apple XDR Display priced at 6K$, it gives you some perspective haha! *Should you get it?* It really depends on the type of user that you are. To me it is perfect in almost every way: I can work with a lot of real estate and pixel clarity, enjoy the bright room without reflections, game at 120+ FPS, enjoy amazing picture quality and deep blacks, so much so every recent game is a total spectacle. The immersion is deep, for story rich games it really is a superior experience by a long shot. Baby-sitting it in regard to burn-in is also not a big deal since most of it happens automatically and takes some getting used to without any required action, I guess time will tell but for now it really feels worth the while. The main value that this monitor brings to me is that it feels like it wraps around my vision and turns everything, and I mean *everything* into an experience. Gaming feels insane, hell even work feels better. Sorry for the heavy post, I wanted to give back to the community I took a ton of knowledge from in this monitor endeavor. If there's anything I forgot, please do ask in the comments and I'll do my best to answer as much as I can. Thanks for reading!

I have a 5080 and a 5090 that share a 5k2k (new LG 45) screen. IMHO the 5080 still provides a good experience, even in games like cyberpunk. Yes, you'll be using DLSS and probably FG 2x. If you have any game titles in mind and I own any of them, I'd be happy to do an fps check for you.

And I dont even have the new one, but the old wqhd Version, but as soon as the 5k Version gets to around $1200 I will instantly buy it. Cant wait.

But with the 5k2k you are getting great vertical spacing. I say this as owning this monitor where I am a software engineer. This monitor is perfect imo. I have this with 2 16 inch monitors below as I still prefer multiple monitors. I can easily on the 45 5k2k fit 3 coding windows and have the idea navigator open as well.

For me the Sweet Spoot would be the 45gx9 currently rocking a 49' 32:9 the horizontal space is great but i would definitely much prefer the vertical real estate that the 45gx9 has , also the new subpixel layout makes it finally capable to use an oled for coding

I don't think it's worth it. The problem is LG downgraded the refresh rate for the 4K 21:9 model to 165 Hz from the 1440p 21:9 model's 240 Hz. Before anyone says 165 Hz compared to 240 Hz is fine, sure, in some ways it's fine, heck, even 120 is fine, but... If you actually want to experience the fast pixel response times of OLED - and you payed for it if you bought the monitor - then you need to be at least somewhere in the 180-200 Hz range. Anything under that, and the motion blur introduced by the monitor using the sample-and-hold method of refreshing the screen (AKA "persistence blur") is too much of a "motion clarity bottleneck" and therefore "hides" or "covers up" the insanely fast pixel response times. I did side-by-side comparison tests of my 2023 LG 240 Hz 45" OLED (45GR95QE) with a very fast (for LCD) Asus TN, a fast LG IPS, and a very fast (for VA LCD) Samsung and, at anything under 180-ish Hz, there was no visual different in motion clarity between the insanely fast OLED and all 3 different types of LCDs. Why? Because the sample-and-hold method of refreshing the screen is just too much of a motion clarity bottleneck (regardless of how fast pixel response times are, even if they're 0.0000000001 ms). It was only at around 180-ish Hz that I started seeing very small differences (small, had to do back-and-forth A-B tests). At 200 Hz, the difference was not huge but, at the same time, easily visible and not tiny. At 240 Hz, the sample-and-hold induced blur "bottleneck" becomes lifted out of the way enough where the difference between the OLED and others is huge. At 240 Hz, the OLED has the same motion clarity of LCD somewhere in the 360-480 Hz range. This is why I shake my head when people talk about insane motion clarity of OLED yet are using monitors/TVs less than 200-ish Hz. The exception, of course, is if you're using BFI (black frame insertion), the OLED equivalent to LCD/LED backlight strobing - it's insane. It does not suffer from any sample-and-hold induced blur (AKA persistence blur) because it doesn't use the sample-and-hold method to refresh the screen (instead, the entire screen, every pixel, basically blinks on and off at the same time), but that's a whooollle-nother story.

Hard to say with the 2025 5K2K (ie. 4K 21:9) model. 5120x2160 at 240 Hz is just a touch under 80 Gbps. So DP 2.1 UHBR20 (DP80) might be able to do it without DSC but LG stupidly only put DP 2.1 UHBR13.5 (DP54, so 54 Gbps) on the 2025 45" model. Theoretically, it should be able to do 240 Hz at native res (5K2K, ie. 4K 21:9) using DSC so, maybe, using some CRU tweaks will allow this. If that's the case, I will buy it. You cannot use DSC and DLDSR at the same time. Something to do with how many "lanes" graphics cards have. You probably wouldn't want to use DLDSR with a native res of 5120x2160 anyways. That'll end up being like 7K or 10K resolution. Framerates would suffer massively. Plus, 5K2K will still look very good without DLDSR.

So I got my 5k2k finally today and maybe I overhyped it in my head but I’m not that impressed/it’s not what I thought it would be… For reference I’m coming from the aw3423dwf— which to me is still the best monitor ever made. It was my first OLED monitor and was everything it was hyped up to be when I got it. The only issues with it were the resolution honestly. I couldn’t wait for them to make a 5k2k monitor. For a couple weeks I tried out one of the 2024 4k 32in 16:9 qd OLED monitors they released and loved it but man I’m a sucker for ultra wide so I ultimately went back to my aw34 but the 32in did make me more hyped for 5k2k qd OLED. So after playing around with the lg 5k2k today, honestly I’m underwhelmed and I think it’s just because the panel doesn’t match up to qd oled. It’s not as bright, it’s can’t get as vibrant, it has a weird vignetting effect on my screen where the edges of the screen are darker for some reason, and the matte — man I did not realize how much of a difference on clarity and text clarity that would make. It doesn’t even look that much better than 1440p. Yes I know ppi is what matters but even then idk it just doesn’t hit like the qd OLED. Anyways, I’ll keep it for work purposes bc I do love the size of the monitor and it’ll be a huge upgrade over the size of my aw34 but I will 1000% be waiting for the 5k2k qd OLED to release and then I’ll finally be happy. [Pics of cyberpunk running on it](https://imgur.com/a/tMoDUlw) Edit: Since there’s a lame guy crapping on this review— for reference, my viewing distance on the aw34 is the exact same (about 30in) as what I have my current 5k2k monitor at so per inch from the same location 114 ppi vs 125 ppi doesn’t look too different unlike other smaller 4k monitors i tried (I believe those are the ppi numbers). This explain why I said “it doesn’t look that much better than 1440p” bc there’s barley an increase in pixel density AND on top of that the matte is known to make things slightly more fuzzy/blurry/less clear than glossy. All that taken into account, it FEELS about the same to ME. Now if I was using the aw34 from a closer viewing distance, then maybe I would’ve noticed a bigger difference. I actually like having monitors a little beyond their ideal viewing distance bc eye strain + the brightness. BUT for the 5k2k I didn’t increase viewing distance bc the correct viewing distance matters more (I believe 80cm) bc of the curve. I can’t push it back as far as I’d like because of the aggressive curve. Hence why I have it the same distance as my aw34. Hope this helps give more context in glossy clarity!

Yea it’s definitely a great monitor! I think the review was more so a testament of how high my expectations were coming from another really good monitor. I like the monitor, but I think especially given the price, I wanted the monitor to be perfect and since it fell short of that, I was sharing my thoughts on what I expected/noticed that I didn’t like. All the good things I like are already something I can get on my aw34 pretty much — the lg5k2k it just has a bigger screen and denser ppi which is exactly why I’m keeping it! But otherwise I can’t think of another thing it does better than my aw34 which is NOT a bad thing at all to be leveled with that monitor! Just feels like all the extra cash went mostly to getting an 11 inch wider screen. Even the 800r I’m neutral about I don’t think it’s good or bad, it’s just what it is.

You and I are the same - I’m not a product designer, however I work in sales and having my CRM up and Client/Prospect research on Chrome side by side has been perfect. No need for dual monitors. I also work on an M1 Pro and game on a 4090. All in all - very similar use cases. Love the photos as well. This has inspired me to photograph my setup with my DSLR. My only caveat to this monitor is that it does not have KVM support, which I think is a little absurd considering how capable it is in today’s market - at this price point too.

I'm a bit biased in that I already have a 45 inch LG ultrawide gaming monitor and I will NEVER go back to flat montior. My primary use is for a Macbook Pro for work with secondary duties as Gaming monitor over my other MacbookPro, connected to a Proxmox Server with a Win 11 VM for Gaming duties. Pluses: Being able to split my screen multiple ways that's useful for me Curve makes it super easy for me to see things edge to edge without 'chair shifting' Speed for gaming is awesome and the rapid refresh rate for regular work also prevents my eyes from getting 'screen tired' What is the minus? That it's not OLED. I would love to dontate my current monitor to my stepson who also games and goes to College, and then I'll keep the OLED... :)

The sweet spot for me on this monitor is moving between work and gaming easily. Work needs room for VC, chat and the work happening in front of you. Having extra monitors is fine, but then you deal with issues around the hub not working or on where the mouse cursor has gone. When the day is over is nice to swap over to the gaming PC and start planning the destruction of monsters all over the place. Pushing out high frames on a quality screen is essential. I think the 45" is a perfect size for all this and I'm super interested in giving a work + gaming review from a non-influencer perspective.

It’s not a comparison. The LG 5K2K >>> G9 57 (for gaming) Don’t get me wrong, I love my G9 57 (it’s my primary work monitor) but it just doesn’t compare in any way to the LG 5K2K. The latter gives WAY better picture natively and can be run at higher graphics settings/frame rate, due to the 21:9 aspect ratio. In my opinion, the only way the G9 57 wins out for gaming is if you absolutely need the 32:9 aspect ratio and, even then, you have to accept that you’re either giving up frames or quality beyond what you’d get with the LG 5K2K

Sorry for the late reply. At first, the strong curvature takes some time getting used to. Less so when gaming (that looks fanatical and you don’t really notice the curve at all). But when working, it does take some time to adjust. That can take a few days. I sit about 95–100 cm (3–3.2 ft) away, which should be about the limit for this kind of curvature and resolution (LG recommends 80 cm / 2.6 ft). Speaking of resolution: I’m using a Mac mini M4 Pro at the native resolution of 5120x2160. Some text and labels do appear a bit small (and I’m not exactly a spring chicken anymore ;D). Sure, I *could* lower the resolution a bit, but then the image becomes a bit too soften for my taste.. I’m still experimenting with it a bit. That said, I’m very happy with the text clarity on the LG. Before this, I had a Dell 49” (5120 x 1440) with a lower pixel density (109 ppi). But honestly, I don’t notice any major difference now.

Glossy/Matte finish over stated by people its barely noticeable but you definitely notice your own reflection or glare on the pure glossy of the C2. Its perfect in my opinion only thing would be higher Hz but it has a dual mode to bump it to 330hz 1080p so I'm not desperate for 2k5k games at 240hz.

Came from a flat 42. The 45 at 800r is perfect. Its not aggressive as you think in person and you get used to it almost instantly. At first it has a bit of a wow factor. Its amazing that more bigger screens don't have this, its needed because without the curve the edges of the screen are further away. I’ve been using a G9 OLED for just over a year now and whilst I think it’s a great display I find a few issues which prevent it from being the sweet spot for me. • Quite a few games don’t have native 32:9 support, resulting in black bars or a stretched image. • Vertical height. It’s something I constantly find myself wanting more of, to me the monitor is too wide and not tall enough. • I don’t find the 1800R curve aggressive enough for the width of the display. It doesn’t feel as immersive as I’d like it to as I have to turn my head to look often. • Resolution. 5120 X 1440 is great, however I often find myself wanting to play single player immersive games on my 55” Samsung S90C. It just looks better, colours pop more and there is more detail in what I’m seeing which shouldn’t be the case as the G9 has a higher PPI, but it very much is. For me the LG 45GX950A seems to resolve all the issues I have with the G9 - increased vertical height, less width and more aggressive curve, 21:9 more widely supported and increased resolution and PPI. Could this finally be the “sweet spot”. Sounds too good to be true!

Two separate monitors is actually good for you. So you and your wife don’t need to fight for monitors. You can enjoy your games and your wife can do her work at the same time. 😊 I have seen the LG 45” (old 45”, not 5k2k) at my local BestBuy store. It is truly immersive. It is two inch taller than Samsung 57 so it fills your vertical field of view. It is not as wide as the 57” means no head turning to see the left and right most edges of the screen. Everything is right in front of you.

My suggestion was for two monitors, LG45 + Dell 40. If you only plan to get one monitor, then Samsung 57 is a good choice. For putting 32” 4K on top of ultrawide, the adtec monitor stand can handle LG 45 plus Samsung 57”. Imo this is probably the sweetest spot in ultra wide should be, 45 inch curved with 5k2k  and highest refresh rate possible.   The Samsung odyssey 49 inches is just wayy too out of my comfort zone having to move my head side to side to see the view from end to end.

To me, this 45” 21:9 is the ideal monitor. I’m currently using the LG 40” 21:9 with much lower resolution and I find myself just that little bit cramped for productivity. With gaming, I also just want a bigger monitor to fill more of my real field of view when play flight sims and immersive games.

The sweet spot is definitely the 5k2k for now. To be a bit better, it could use DP2.1 full bandwidth and a higher refresh rate, but those would just be nice things on an already awesome monitor.

As someone who has been using an LG 42C2 as my monitor for the past couple of years (and running it at 3160x1600 ultra wide with black bars) LG's GX9 is the first monitor that I actually think is an upgrade over the 42in OLED TV. With higher ppi and ultra wide format along with the 165Hz refresh rate this basically has everything most of us in this community have been waiting for. A large format ultrawide with high resolution and refresh rate. I really appreciate that LG is actually reading our feedback and comments here and have put forward a product that seems to fulfill a majority of the requested features from this community. The sweet spot is exactly what you're offering with this monitor OLED , uktrawide 5K2K, high refresh rate and 45 in. The extra resolution and refresh rate profiles are a cherry on top. And once we have the bendable version it will be a perfect monitor for gaming, media consumption and professional work.

I don’t know too much about computers, but I have a MacBook Pro M3 Pro 14-inch and I just bought the new 45GX950A-B LG gaming monitor—it’s a $2000 monitor. I played around with using only Type-C & HDMI, testing the highest resolution settings, but it seems that this computer does not have the capabilities to fully utilize this monitor. Even though it’s a beautiful monitor and has an aggressive curve, it’s 45 inches and definitely a different experience, which I really love, I know some people don’t like aggressive curves, but for 45 inches it’s perfect. But it’s very unfortunate that for a $2000 monitor, it’s not even remotely close to being crystal clear—the text is very pixelated and picture is not as clear for some reason, and I feel like my computer is not powerful enough to utilize this monitor, even though it is beautiful. I don’t think it’s the monitor I think it’s my computer. Not sure if I’m willing to spend 2K on a Mac studio.

I have the Samsung S95D at 90 degrees to my LG5k2k... the color vibrancy is intense on the TV (much more so than even the G9 I'd say). But, outside of well authored HDR content, the extra vibrancy is... 'artificial' (as in not authored by the creators, but simply pushed beyond the basic SDR limits). Even now, with so much SDR content around, and lacklustre HDR support - I'd say the vibrancy is only a problem if the main things you do with the screen is HDR based. For web browsing and SDR gaming, the 5k2K is no slouch.

If I were buying today and had the budget, I'd get the 45" 5k/2k LG OLED (45GX950A-B). You can run it at 165hz, or 330hz at lower resolutions/screen sizes, depending on your use case. It has a pretty aggressive curve though, if that bothers you. However, for just over 1/3 the price, the refreshed AW3425DW is a great option that won't require a 4090/5090 to power it. In another 6 months, there should be smaller versions of the LG panel with higher DPI, if you think 45" is too big,

I was getting about ~60-70 fps on native resolution with my 4090 in Expeidtuon 33 at 5k2k (which is a fairly demanding game at max settings in 4k). I didn’t get a chance to try it at that resolution with my 5090 as I already packed the LG away to return. But I imagine I’d be getting 70-80 fps with the 5090. Mind you, this is native. Yeah im going to get 100+ in native with a 5090 at that resolution but im completely fine with running DLSS or frame gen where needed.

I have the horse power like come on man. I can only get it to work if I plug a second monitor In. I can see the difference with last years model it definitely a lot sharper that last years but it’s so much of a headache to get it going. I don’t have the corner issues at all that’s super weird but I was really hoping for it to be a way better experience.

I went from an LG 32GS95UE to the LG 5K2K, zero regrets. I did buy this monitor as well (the alienware 34" AW3425DW) but I hated the glossy panel and the loss of vertical screen real estate. Returned the Alienware and decided to keep the LG 5K2K. Yes it's expensive but I'll be keeping this for at least 5 years (bought the best buy 4 year warranty that includes burn in protection). At this point, the LG 5K2K is the holy Grail of displays for me. Gaming on this thing is so immersive, played oblivion all weekend, fucking fantastic. Also I tried DLDSR on the alienware to 5k2k, it helps a bit but it is nowhere near as clear and crisp as native 5k2k on the LG 45". At the end of the day, you still only have the same amount of pixels in the panel on the 34", can't add more. Lastly, text clarity on the AW3425DW is a downgrade when coming from a 4k 32" OLED. Text clarity on the LG 5K2K is crystal clear.

with a 2025 AAA game the only way you're maxing out the refresh rate on the 5k2k at max settings is with framegen. dont knock it dude - if youre pushing 80fps without it, you'll be surprised at how well it works. doesn't even feel any different to me. when you've got a solid foundation of 60-70fps+ it adds next to no input latency

As someone who owns a G9 OLED, AW3423DW, and a LG 5k2k I will say that it all comes down to preference. Personally I rank the G9 the lowest. I don't love the format. I bought it for flight sims gaming and find that I don't use it much. It sits on a separate desk and my kids use it mostly. I love 21:9 and think the AW3423DW is the best display I have ever owned. I was a 21:9 early adopter and bought the first one ever made in 3440x1440. So I have been using the format and resolution for about a decade. As such I wanted something new. Enter the LG 5k2k. I had previously tried the 1440p version and it is comically bad. The PPI is truly awful. The 5k2k on the other hand is truly a remarkable experience. I anticipated I might return it. I don't like matte coating. I thought that 800r curve was going to be stupid. I wasn't a fan of the fact the PPI is only 126 instead of the comparable 140+ from the 32 inch OLEDs. After owning it though..... There is nothing like it. I have a 5090 so driving it isn't a problem. So for my two cents 1. LG 5k2k 2. AW3423DW (but a close second) 3. G9 (distant 3rd) I think the 32:9 format is going to die out. It just can't compare to these new bigger 21:9 https://howbigg.com/?displays=%5B%22Display+1_16x9_0_0_27_in_2560x1440_0%22%2C%22Display+2_21x9_0_0_34_in_3440x1440_0%22%2C%22Display+3_21x9_0_0_45_in_5120x2160_0%22%2C%22Display+4_32x9_0_0_49_in_5120x1440_0%22%5D

My sweet spot was for a long time a 49” Neo G9. 32:9 provided so much additional space in games, I could really enjoy the widescreen. Wanted to switch to OLED, but lack of G9 OLED brightness and curve made me hesitate. 21:9 was no option because I wanted a bigger screen, not just a narrower one. Found the Lg 5k2k and fell for it. Narrower, without loosing pixels, higher, with additional screen space. Once I heard that my 4090 will be enough to power most of the games, I decided to get one, as soon as they’ll ship in my country.

I had a 38inch lg before, 3840*1600 on a 5080 OC. Now the 5k2k. In cyberpunk I noticed a 20 FPS drop, but still above 120 FPS in basically everything. I didn't run any before and after benchmarks. I wanted a bigger screen and resolution as well as oled. So any drop is acceptable to me. Also yes, I run dlss and FG as so far I have not noticed any artifacts myself. I guess it really depends on how picky you are and if you tend to "look for" those frame differences or artifacts.

Returned mine, the size difference going back to 34" after 2 weeks of 45" is jarring but atleast colors are much much better, and yellows appear true again. Stand by my earlier comments, WOLEDs need to die so all focus can go on improving QD-OLEDs like the black depth issue in ambient light. Update: Yeah once you see QD-OLED there is no going back to WOLED, I advise any one tempted by this on a QDOLED currently to avoid it unless resolution trumps all. Also shows how much ahead of it's time the AW3423DW actually was a little over 3 years

So the new 45"W-oleds from LG are a good choice too. On the g9 57"i was wondering about the blooming, while working i dont use HDR, saves energy and why would i need to have my eyes burned out when looking at coding docs. and for entertainment is rarely notice it, and when i do, its because hud elements and stars in space games. but even then its so rarely. If it was adjustable like their last 45 incher, I would basically never even do that. I actually used to get a bit motion sick on 1800r, and I don't on 800. The matte... yeah... Well, it's matte. Hopefully LG start dropping glossy's one day. QD doesn't work for my environment.

i would also never get a WOLED again, QD-OLED is just superior in basically every aspect. switched from an LG WOLED to the samsung G9 and the picture quality of QD-OLED is just so much clearer and better. (i am really picky when it comes to displays, so im definitely not the average user and ive been selling TVs for the last 18 years, so ive seen basically every tech stage from ctv to oled with all their ups and downs over the years)

I miss mine, to an extent. The second they release this monitor with a 1000r curve screen I'm ditching my LG ultragear 21:9 for it.

Been an avid 21:9 user for like 4yrs and can't go back, only drawback is that I'm still in the OG 3440x1440 group and want a bit more crispiness to the text (OLED) and a smidge more screen real-estate. So far I've had the LG UltraGear, the Alienware one, then the Samsung G8 (current). Been eyeing a 5k 2k for a long time and curious to hear other reviews (if I get sent one LG, I will deep dive so hard into the things that I look for in a panel so be warned lol). OLED brightness, HDR, VRR, color banding are things that are very important to nail so praying ya'll nailed it. I used a Dell 32:9 (forget the model) and returned it within a week. Tried to make it work, but didn't like that it's a huge performance hit for the added peripheral you technically never use and for normal day to day, hurts my neck moving windows around. And thats before I get into getting games to do 32:9 was a nightmare vs 21:9. So sweet spot if you're a gamer imho is 21:9 -- perfect FOV to performance for modern mid-high end+ GPU's.
