I have nearly the same monitor (49m2c8900L, so the version with 144 Hz instead of 240) and the screen sometimes turning itself off after refresh and sometimes not was driving me crazy. Turns out it was a user error afterall: In the windows energy management settings I had set my monitor to go into standby after 5 minutes, but the refresh cycle takes 6 minutes and the windows standby seems to take priority, so it would cancel the refresh if I didn't move my mouse or pressed buttons on my keyboard during it (so it wasn't idle for 5 minutes). I now set the standby time to 10 minutes in Windows and the monitor always runs the refresh cycle and shuts itself off after that, so this seems to be the intended behavior. You should definitely check if this might be your problem.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->Yeah ok, then it seems to work as intended for you now aswell (which makes sense with your settings). Having moving stuff isn't really the best solution for preventing OLEDs from degrading btw, since it still wears them down, just more "evenly" than havin static stuff shown. So if you set your screensaver to just be a black (RGB 0,0,0) picture and/or set your standby timeout earlier (just not below 7min or so, as mentioned above), it should be better than having a screensaver with moving images.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->can confirm the evnia is great tho i have the 49 inch never had an issue with it and it was alot cheaper than the samsung
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Looking for 34” monitor recommendations with white/silver frame that are decent for gaming to keep the wife happy ->Hi mate. Hope both you and your monitor are doing great) First of all, thanks for such initiative with this post and many detailed answers. I am considering this monitor, because I am so used to KVM, and this monitor has 4 USB ports and usb c connectivity, which marks lots of checkboxes for me. But what is also important is that it supports 240 hz. I'm not really looking for 240 hz gameplay at the moment, I don't think my 4070ti Super will manage to pull such frames in iRacing or LMU. But as far as I understood, because this panel is capable of 240 in single screen mode, it will be able to receive 120hz signal when using PBP with PS5 right? Maybe you know? I saw that it works at 200hz with PC and Nintendo (at 60 I assume). This is important to me, as sometimes I do want to stream PS5 content using capture card and have OBS and chat on the other side of the screen, and still have 120hz for ps5. PC may have 60 hz at this moment, it's not important.. I didn't find this in the manual for this monitor, while all other similar but 144 hz products do have it in their manual and stating that only 60 hz possible in PBP. This is the only possible 240hz option on the market at the moment in my region that ticks all of my checkboxes. MSI 491cqpx is not here yet and nobody knows when it'll come, and still this Evnia has an advantage in the number of usb and speakers, ambiglow.. Thanks in advance for any reply and good luck!)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->Yes, tou said that you heard it supports both sources 120 hz, but not that you tried:) Would be nice if you could confirm this from your invaluable experience, if that's true, then I don't see any alternative to this monitor at the moment. The only shame is that it doesn't have a dedicated hard button for KVM like gigabytes for example. But maybe it can be binded to some hotkey? And I just hope that Philips's display is not like their vacuum or juicemaker, that stopped working right after 1 year, when warranty ended xD
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->Hey mate. No worries I've already bought one and very happy so far. Cheers!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->Hi! Huge thank you for all the answers you provide! Super close in pushing the purchase button now :) I did stumble on a variation to the screen but with an addition “AM” at the end. (PHILIPS Evnia 49M2C8900AM) This looks to be an Amazon exclusive variant which is pretty much the same screen but costs in Sweden 300$ less (920$ in total). What worried me is that one Reddit post and review from the same person on Amazon highlights: “Great monitor if the firmware would work. The monitor cannot be switched off after a period of use of more than 4 hours.” Either this is a special thing related to this persons monitor or it is closely related to what you write regarding the pixel refresh which pops up after 4 hours. My question to you all that have the screen: Do you recognize this issue or understand what problem he has had and how to mitigate it?
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->I got this one its awesome
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Philips 49 ultrawide OLED ->The Phillips 49 evnia is better
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This is the cheapest 49'' OLED monitor ever. Any downsides or caveats? ->Agreed I would go 57" I have had a Samsung 49"curved and now a philips 49m2c8900.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Choosing an ultrawide monitor for programming (and occasional gaming) - 49" vs. 57" dilemma ->Well, I bought it, it came today, I immediately installed it. Now I'm impressed :) If you think about buying it right now, ask me all your questions. Short review: * Ambi-Light seems a bit buggy to me. I tried Display Port and USB-C, got the full resolution. But Ambi-Light "Video" mode sometimes flickers on a static image * When I turn on HDR in Windows, I can't control the overall brightness anymore. I can set the SDR brightness to control the Windows Brightness. But even the OSD settings lack the main menu until I turn off HDR * The speakers are good. I don't have proper speakers here, because I mainly use my headphones anyway. So I often used my previous monitor's speakers - an LG 35" UltraWide. These are more impressive. They still lack the deep bass, if you're into music, but they are enjoyable. * OLED instantly burns into my eyes. So bright, such a high contrast. Wow. Also very over-saturated. But I'm not doing professional photo-/video-editing, so I like it * After seeing all those QD-OLED vs WOLED videos - yes, I see the pinkish/greenish blur around text. But it's not disturbing (yet) * I got 5120x1440, 240 Hz, 10bit HDR out of the box via Display Port on my 7900XTX * via USB-C I could connect my 4800U based Lenovo Yoga 7 Slim with power delivery, KVM, 5120x1440, 10bit HDR but "only" up to 165 Hz. Might be the Vega8 iGPU, though that is limiting here Edit: * The fans. Many people talked about them. I couldn't hear them at all. My PC is right next to it, and it's not ultra silent, but at least it doesn't get loud. But in silent scenarios, you always hear the little hum of the fans. That is enough to not hear the monitor's fans Edit 2: Okay, I've been using it for several months now, and I kept complaining that after the OLED refresh it always turns off. No matter the USB-C or Display Port source. You get a warning that you've been using it for 4 (or 6, or 8) hours and you should do the refresh. You start it and after ~5-6 minutes it turns off. _BUT_ I'm actually dumb. I tried doing this a lot before turning off the PC. So I played or worked for several hours, then closed all my programs, did the refresh, turned on the monitor again and turned off the PC. What I didn't know: It seems to do a refresh when I turn it off. I don't shut the power line. Just turn it off with the remote control. When I turn it on the next day, in the menu it says: "hours since last refresh: 0". So, you can use it as you need and just turn it off after you used it. Or especially, turn ot off during lunch break.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->Its a dream coming true ! That OLED is really black wow ! Coming from a 1070 ti rig, to a light speed modern 5070 ti rig with a huge widescreen. Oblivion remastered looks amazing. Have a good day and take care of yourself.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Philips 49 ultrawide OLED ->Its 32:9 240hz, 49 inch. **Philips Evnia 49** [Gaming Monitor QD OLED-gamemonitor 49M2C8900/00 | Evnia](https://www.philips.be/c-p/49M2C8900_00/evnia-gaming-monitor-qd-oled-gamemonitor)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Philips 49 ultrawide OLED ->If you're looking for the same form factor (OLED, super ultra wide 49") I recommend the Philips Evnia. It's the same qdoled panel and 240hx but no bloatware and everything is super solid construction, literally 0 issues so far. 4 year warranty including burn in. Kvm switch included, works flawlessly with both my PC and gpd win max 2 picture by picture and picture in picture both works great. 4 year warranty including burn in. Speakers sound fucking great and are beyond just "usable". 2 tweeters 2 bass speakers.(I think it sounds incredible and I'm a pretty big music guy, play guitar and keyboard) 4 year warranty including burn in. Only thing some connesoirs might not like is that you can't fully calibrate RGB values, it comes factory calibrated though so I don't see this as a huge deterrent. In fact the opposite, it forces me to just enjoy the panel instead of neurotically changing + or - 2 increment values back and forth wondering if I can tell a difference driving myself insane. Did I mention 4 year warranty including burn in. Lol Hopefully you aren't out the Samsung investment 100%, rooting for your warranty to come through my dude. Dropped recently to 999 when I picked it up 2 months ago.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Samsung G9 OLED 49" died, need new monitor recommendations ->The alienware aw3425dw was released last month. It has an 240 hz refresh rate instead of 175 and goes for 799 dollar The Gigabyte MO34WOCQ2 and the MSI 341CQPX have the same panel as the alienware i mentioned. If i were you i would get the cheapest one of those three. And if you want 49 inches then the samsung g93sc(glossy) or the philips 49M2C8900(semi-gloss). These two also have the same panel and are both 1440p,240hz. Samsung also has a smart version (95 instead of 93) or oled (sd) instead of sc, but i would get non smart, qd oled.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best ultrawide? ->Went from two 27" 2k screens to one 49" OLED. I couldn't be happier! G27QC ➡️ 49M2C8900L
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Need help picking a 49"curved (gaming) monitor ->Damn. I’d still try escalating the warranty. That’s not acceptable. Maybe transportation damage. All the 49 OLEDs are using the same samsung panel so you can’t really escape it. Just find a brand selling a product with greater build quality and quality control. Check out the Philips Evnia 49
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What reliable ultrawide monitors are available beside Samsung's crap? ->Got any brightness dimming or ABL? Mine dims during bright fullscreen gameplay, dims for a few mins.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->I'm still rocking it out on the monitor, perfect besides for the auto brightness dimming mainly while gaming, I even get zero freesync/vrr flicker which is great. But the auto brightness dimming for 1-3mins every 20-45mins is annoying during gaming sessions. They need to add a firmware update that fixes the "ABL". Anyone else get annoying ABL on their 49m2c8900? I've had 2 of these, each with brightness dimming that's aggressive af.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->Hey there OP! I am setting up KVM with this monitor for the first time, I was wondering if you were able to get your mouse to seamlessly switch inputs when using it in PBP mode between two devices. I can't seem to do it, and the only workaround seems to be to use the OSD with the remote to swap them whenever you want to change which device to use, but this also forces the primary device on the left side. So you essentially can't use the mouse and keyboard in PBP with the KVM on the right side input. Has that also been your experience? Thanks in advance!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->Hey man, yup I've also been having this issue. I actually made a case with Phillips about it but they never got back to me. I just emailed support again to ask if a firmware update was planned. I'll post back if i get a reply! 🤞
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA ->The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 and Philips Evnia 49M2C8900AM use the exact same panel, but Phillips has a WAY better Quality Control. You can read horror stories about the Samsung one in every thread. Hell, I think even in this one. Which is weird because you'd think they'd do a better job since they are the engineers who made the damn thing. So anyway, if you're in Europe, pick the Phillips one. If you're in America, you'll probably have to settle with the Odyssey.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 📊 POLL: What’s the Best Ultrawide/49” Monitor for Work & Play? Help Me Decide! ->I think the smaller ones are usually 1200p instead of 1440p such as the 43” LC43J890DKUXEN I used to own the Philips 49”, the built in webcam and mic was rubbish but the screen was fine.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Are there any QHD ultrawide monitors that equal two 24-inch monitors? (32:9 or 32:10) ->The Evnia is nice if the back of it is hidden against a wall IMO, and you can use the ambilight set to normal (instead of gamer) for bias lighting to help with eye strain
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Are there any QHD ultrawide monitors that equal two 24-inch monitors? (32:9 or 32:10) ->Philips 49” Has built in kvm so your peripherals and network can all connect to screen and then pc on displayport and laptop on usb C (power delivery also)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide for 100% Excel ->Why are you limited to IPS? I just bought a Philips Envia QD-OLED for $550 and it's stunning.
