I have a Samsung Odyssey G5 34” and it’s been great I’m not really doing anything. Intensive but love the extra space and real estate doe multiple windows
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->Never heard of these brands either, try looking up the Samsung Odyssey g5, it's pretty neat and at least you'll have warranty.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which budget 34" 144Hz QHD Ultrawide should I get? (KOORUI vs CRUA) ->Search the 34 inch oddessy g5, it's an ultrawide.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which budget 34" 144Hz QHD Ultrawide should I get? (KOORUI vs CRUA) ->I believe it is yea, product names are weird because they change based on the region. [https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-g5-c34g55t](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-g5-c34g55t) This rtings review is pretty informative. My review for it would be: Pros: * Cheap * 165hz and G-sync compatible. * 1000R Curve Cons: * Stand is garbage, better get an arm. * HDR at this price is never real, so don't get fooled. * This one weird glitch that sometimes happen when switching between input devices, sometimes the monitor won't wake up by itself in certain situations and would require me to hard reset it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which budget 34" 144Hz QHD Ultrawide should I get? (KOORUI vs CRUA) ->I currently have the samsung G5 ultrawide. I have it stacked with a 27 inch monitor. I have the vivo dual stack mount that clamps to your desk. The G5 isn't the best and has drawbacks, like only two ports, 1 HDMI and 1 DP port and only 100HZ (which I can't tell the difference). I got it on sale for 300 so it was a steal for me. I love it for productivity and gaming. I wfh so productivity is a must. There might be better options. I am not ready for the OLED plunge yet.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) ->Get a G5 on Amazon it’s in your budget.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Looking for an ultrawide monitor under 300$ ->I have the G5, so here are the pros and cons from what I have collected: Note that I bought mine for €299 on sale. Pros: \- 165hz on DisplayPort 1.4 \- Good black levels \- More affordable (open box) \- Brightness is solid \- Rather good matte coating Eh's: \- 72% DCI-P3 coverage (\~100% sRGB) \- Some smearing, but not really noticeable on most games unless you actively start looking for it. Mostly gets masked by FSR / DLSS upscaling in AAA games. "Black smearing" is a trait of VA technology. \- Standalone power brick (smaller than most laptop chargers) Cons: \- HDMI 2.0, can only run 3440x1440 at 100hz. \- HDR is **fake**, should be considered false marketing. \- Godawful monitor stand: Wobbly, virtually no adjustment and very low to the desk. You can mount it to an arm though, screw pattern on the back is VESA mount compatible. \- Ports are a royal pain in the arse to reach, particularly with thicker cables that you have to bend all the way just to plug them in to the desired port. Especially with thicker gauge HDMI 2.1 / DP 2.0 cables. Help to mitigate the cons: \- Avoid HDMI or buy a HDMI to DP 1.4 converter. These converters aren't cables, but rather little boxes. They should also come with an extra USB cable for power supplement to the converter. \- Don't use HDR \- Mount the monitor on an arm. The monitor has a 75x75 VESA pattern. \- You can somewhat help this by plugging the cables in when the monitor's bottom is rotated towards you, or pre-bending the cables with a 90 degree angle. A straight DP 1.4 to DP 1.4 connection from a desktop does work at 165Hz, I have tested this with my old RX 580 rig. Personally, there's a pretty big color difference from 72% DCI-P3 to 100% DCI-P3 (my laptop's screen). I'd say the colour difference is comparable to an entry level laptop's 62% sRGB screen (think of the MSI Thin series) and a higher quality 100% sRGB screen on something like a Medion Erazer. I would buy the Asus if it's between the new monitors only, but when considering the $223 open box, I'd rather go for the open box G5. Most of the cons are things that can be mitigated. $223 for a UW is a steal regardless
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 34" Ultrawide would you pick? ->I have the G5, it’s a decent VA ultrawide but I’m kinda wishing I got the Asus. It has faster response times and sounds like the ghosting / smearing is wayyyy better. It also has usable HDR, the G5’s HDR isn’t usable at all
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 34" Ultrawide would you pick? ->As someone who has owned the G5, if you’re sensitive to ghosting/smearing/slow responsiveness feel then it can be a bit bothersome. But I did come from a G6 240hz which is a really smooth and fluid high end VA panel which may be why I noticed the smearing on the G5 so much. The G5 felt fine when running at 140+ fps but when games were at <110fps then it felt quite slow due to smearing. I ended up buying an OLED after about a year and a half of owning it. The MSI doesn’t seem any better when it comes to smearing/ghosting by what I’ve read online though. You can still have an enjoyable experience on the G5 but it was just hard for me to go from the G6 to the G5. I’ve heard good things about the Dell Alienware AW3425DWM as it’s a newer VA panel. It appears to have really great responsiveness / HDR / lack of smearing (decently more expensive though and less curve) The ASUS TUF VG34VQL3A is also meant to have far better ghosting/smearing/responsiveness + usable HDR (same price range as G5 but less curve) If I were to buy a monitor at the same price range again then I would definitely get the ASUS TUF, the reduced smearing/ghosting and usable HDR definitely matters more to me than the curve of the G5 but if the curve is the most important thing then the G5 still has very nice colours/contrast and is quite immersive due to the curve. The upgrade to 34” 3440x1440 and the far better colours / contrast will probably be enough to counteract the negatives of any smearing you encounter though. If you have any more questions about the G5 then chuck em through. Essay complete 😅
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Looking to choose between the Odyssey G5 ultrawide and MSI Mag345cqr. Need Advice ->Same here...sent it back the same day I received it Atrocious black smearing on the odyssey g5
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 34" Ultrawide would you pick? ->For $650cad you could probably buy a significantly better second hand GPU that would fix performance issues. You will lose out on the depth perception VR has when you go to a screen. Also, do you need to spend that much on a second hand screen? I recently bought a brand new curved ultrawide here in Australia as a backup for my previously VR exclusive rig and it cost far less than that ($399AU for the screen and $60 for an arm) for a Samsung G5 34in.
r/iRacing • Should I switch from VR to Ultrawide ->G5, IMO Samsung as they have some really good VA panels. I have a Neo g7 and a G6 as well.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 34" Ultrawide would you pick? ->I have a Oddysey G5 34inch, which is also a Va panel and people here complaint left and right about it, it was also among the only ultrawides on my country and gave it a shoot, it’s been fantastic for me
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Need help buying first ultra wide monitor. Which one would you get between the two? ->We have sweet Samsung curved monitors. They’re huge and display multiple things at once. I can get the NSN tomorrow if you’re interested.
r/navy • Monitor recommendations needed for NMCI workstations ->Ah ok. I know they are 34” but not sure if they bought them on GSA or not. I’ll do some digging tomorrow and get back to you.
r/navy • Monitor recommendations needed for NMCI workstations ->I use a 34" curved Samsung monitor 3440x1440 plugged into my mac mini m4 with no issues whatsoever. I have a thunderbolt to displayport cable. I actually have it going to 2 monitors. The second monitor is just a 1080p monitor (I don't always have it on, just when I need some extra space), and again a thunderbolt to displayport cable. No issues whatsoever.
r/MacOS • An ultrawide curved monitor suitable for a Mac – does this exist at all? ->I’ve got a Samsung 34” unltrawide and I run both an intlem Mac Pro 2019 and an M1 MBP on it and they both look fantastic, nice and sharp & no issues.
r/mac • An ultrawide curved monitor suitable for a Mac – does this exist at all? ->You will not regret an UW. Get it.
r/graphic_design • Has anyone got experience using an ultrawide monitor? ->I have two monitors; lower is a Dell Canvas 27 at 2560x1440 (16:9) and top is 3440x1440 Samsung (21:9 UWQHD). It allows for tons of Adobe side-menu space, which is actually more useful than timeline work.
r/graphic_design • Has anyone got experience using an ultrawide monitor? ->Any Samsung panel will be a good one TBH. Mine is from a few years ago, so I am sure a newer better model exists at this time.
r/graphic_design • Has anyone got experience using an ultrawide monitor? ->Yep! Similar to mine; may even BE mine.
r/graphic_design • Has anyone got experience using an ultrawide monitor? ->I just set up my M4 mini with an ultra wide Samsung 34” with the same resolution you are considering. I love it. It’s great for spreadsheets and for Logic and for what I need it for. However, it doesn’t save much desk space. I actually had more desk space with dual monitors mounted on arms that I could swing away if needed.
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->Was that the Samsung one? It was only 3440 x 1440 resolution.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Any other manufacturers planning a 45" 5k monitor? ->Id vote samsung, 1000r is awesome and I trust them more then asus.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 34" Ultrawide would you pick? ->I recently went through this when upgrading my screen about 6 months ago. Do I want an ultrawide? Absolutely. Would I design on an ultrawide? No I would not. Most ultrawides have too aggressive of a curve to be suitable for design work in my opinion. If it's a mild curve >1500R it might be okay. I tried experimenting with a 1000R Samsung and just couldn't hang with the amount of distortion. I ended up getting a non curved 32" 16:9 4K instead. It's right at the edge of what I consider comfortable as far as seeing the far edges of the display. I do absolutely love the increased real estate of using a smaller GUI scaling.
r/graphic_design • Has anyone got experience using an ultrawide monitor? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
