I got the 57" G9 yesterday, upgraded from a 49" CRG9. It's funny because once it got set up it really didn't feel that much bigger in terms of physical size - but the increased vertical and horizontal resolution are AMAZING for productivity. Before - I would only be able to have two spreadsheets side by side that were actually usable for my purpose. They would have to be side by side, Now I can have 3 - which doesn't sound that impressive but makes a massive difference because now I can have one centered and two on the sides. The curve on the 57 inch is just right IMO, it's not too curved but when you're sitting in front of it - it puts the entire screen in your periphery. I have a secondary 32" 4K QD-OLED monitor that's mostly for gaming. The colors on an OLED are so much better, that this monitor looks pretty bad to me from a gaming perspective (57 inch). If you really care about the gaming experience, you could look at the LG 5K2K as it's much better tuned for that than the 57 inch, which to me is primarily a productivity monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 49 vs 57 ->I went from 2 22" displays to 1 49" Samsung CRG9. The 49" was great for work productivity but for gaming I found it to be too short (not tall enough). I sold the 49" and now have a centered 38" (3840x1600) "main" display and an off center 27" (2560x1440). For my uses, the 38" is excellent for both work productivity and gaming and I use the 27" on the side for comms (Email, Teams, Discord, etc.)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • If you upgraded from a 34" to something bigger, was is worth it? ->Somewhere in between my 49" Samsung CRG9 and this LG 5k2k 45". I think the extra vertical real estate would be awesome for productivity. I don't typically use my full widescreen width on my current CRG9.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Im having the 5120x1440 32:9 C49RG94SSU since about 4 Years now and there is basically only one (tjree) reason, i would go back: im using this one for gaming as well as 10+/vours a day for work. On my side this is great as i can have open multiple windows including the development environment as well as instuctuons, notes and so on. The part that concerns me is when I need to share my screen and the colleagzes are unable to see something on their end with their small monitors. MS teams is sadly not able to share only a part of the screen. Either an app or full screen which both us stupid. Screen = too small on the receivers side, only one app = always need to stop and share again whenever i switch the window. The 2 (other) issues which i do not consider as real issues: movies in netflix/peime video and old games do not support 32:9 and render black big bars on the sides. Some modern games do support 32:9 but also not all of them.. If your GPU does not have enough power, you most probably cant make use of full 5k resolution with 120/240 fps. For the 49" 5120x1440 you should have an 4080S or 5080 or better. For the 57" 7680x2160 running with 240fps even the 5090 might be too slow, so an rtx 6000 pro is your goal.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Those of you that own a 32:9 monitor, is it really worth it for gaming over a 21:9? ->I’m looking to ditch my old CRG49 for a 5k2k. The head turning is real and it only really excels in MSFS and even then it’s mega stretched visuals at the sides. 21:9 OLED feels a nice compromise and place to be at the current moment in time. I would return in a heartbeat and consider 21:9 for more versatility (and better vertical height)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Just bought the 49" G9 OLED. Having some serious buyer remorse. ->Fucking still? My old CRG 49” samsung ultrawide has that problem too. Fucking hate that piece of garbage. Zero respect for samsung product teams.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG Unveils World’s First 5K2K OLED Ultrawide Monitors At CES 2025 ->I think the GX9 will fit my sweet spot needs perfectly. Currently rocking the CRG9 and my only complaint since I got it was I wish I would have gotten 40-45in instead. Plus the dual mode for me is a big selling point as I do PBP quite often for work.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I've had numerous monitors and setups over the years. From smaller 22" Samsung x3 in an Eyefinity setup. Stepping up to the 49" CRG9. that was nice but the support on games with 32:9 or 48:9 was so varied and took a lot of additional time out, or just wasn't supported at all. Then I most recently went with 21:9 UW, and it's kind of the best of both worlds, especially with a curve on the screen.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Kinda sorta. I have a complete sim rig and use a 49 inch CRG9 on it. My desktop has a 34 inch ultrawide albeit not as good as the Alienware you’re talking about. I took a bit of a break from sim racing when I hurt my foot awhile back and decided to throw the 49inch on my desk while I healed. When it was time to go back I absolutely hated the smaller size, although it was more productive for certain things as I had a second monitor as well. From my experience, I’d go with a larger ultrawide than a 34. LG has a 39inch oled 3440x1440 panel that does 240hz. Won’t be as high of pixel density but should still look pretty good. You’ll miss the screen real estate and tbh 34 is such a huge drop in size it may be noticeable for awhile. Just my thoughts!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Downgrade from 49 Inch ->I have a G9 currently and I am more than happy with it. However I would really like to switch to OLED and 4K. But I also would like to return to a smaller screen, somewhere around the range of 34-39 inches. The only one that comes into question of this is the new LG, the non-bendable version should cost 1999$, in Europe probably more. I really hope they get cheaper and someone else releases a smaller one. 39 inches OLED and 4K would be perfect.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why 5K2K still isn't here ->Still running a 3080 Ti, I configured this setup about 5 years ago near the beginning of COVID. Also my 49" display had moved from Samsung CRG9 (2019) -> Samsung G9 (2020) -> Samsung G9 OLED (2023) over that time frame. Been eyeing a 5090, but hadn't yet made the move since the games I play hasn't required it just yet, and Samsung hasn't released a DP2.1 49" display.
r/pcmasterrace • Gaming in 16:9 or 21:9, what’s your thoughts ? ->I have the chg90 had major issues right after my warranty ended, screen has to warm up for at least 5-10 min before showing any form of a desktop. I vowed never to buy a Samsung monitor again.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does anyone have this monitor and recommend it? ->Littlebit more info: I’ve got the predecessor of this model (CR49 120hz) and I’m very happy with it, it’s been running flawlessly for 4 years now. In some games that aren’t optimized for 32:9, you get a bit of a “stretch” effect on the sides, sometimes more noticeable, sometimes less. But you can fix that with a few tools (like Borderless Gaming) or by lowering the resolution. The immersion while gaming, though, is absolutely breathtaking. I wouldn’t want to miss it anymore.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does anyone have this monitor and recommend it? ->I was the opposite, got a crg9, worked ok. moved that for work only 2x 27" screens, no bezel... game changing. run a g8 oddessey 34" 240hz for gaming now. much better. less head movement!
r/pcmasterrace • People who use ultra wide curve monitor, is it as good as it looks? ->I was so hyped to see more 5K2K (5120 x 2160) monitors announced at CES 2025, but unfortunately, they still aren't here. I've had the CRG9 with 5120 x 1440 for four years already and realized that it's just too wide. I'd rather have higher PPI and more desk space while still benefiting from the 21:9 ultrawide ratio. The only 5K2K monitor with a refresh rate above 100Hz is the Dell U4025QW. Just two more similar ones were announced: the LG 45GX990A (the first 5K2K bendable monitor lol) and the Samsung Odyssey G7 21:9. The previous CES was packed with 5120 x 1440 monitors (Samsung Neo G9, LG 49GR95QE, Dell U4924DW, MSI 491C, ASUS XG49WCR, and more). So sad 5K2K isn’t a similar trend.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why 5K2K still isn't here ->I had Samsung 49" CRG9 (S-VA screen, 5120 x 1440) for three years... it was fun until it wasn't. Got tired of mods to fill the screen, wonky HUDs, and messing around with hex edits. I switched to 48" 4K. Love the OLED. Love the screen vertical space. Live that shit just works out if the box. (Will post a couple of before / after pics this evening.)
r/OLED_Gaming • Should I get a 49' Ultrawide monitor, or a 48' 4k ->I mean for me I’m actually going to the OLED 3440 model since it’s cheaper and I’m going for higher frames while not sacrificing too much screen space. Since the size is there, I feel like going back to 21:9 will feel better since some games don’t cooperate with 32:9. It also feels like an upgrade since I’m going from the older crg9 model non-OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What’s with the 5K2K hype? ->I have a 49" Samsung ultrawide (5120x1440) and text is sharp. I know what you mean, cause if i change to a scaled resolution, I get soft text, but running with the native resolution, the text is perfectly rendered. Zoomed in example photo of tiny text: left=native, right=scaled. And no, you don't actually see the pixels, this is just zoomed super close to show how tiny font is rendered on per-pixel basis. I've been super happy with a single monitor, and personally like MacOS more this way. I don't really like how MacOS handles multiple screens, but I guess that's a personal preference. What I like the most is the ability to have something on the middle of your screen. It's like having a big screen and then extra work space on both sides. https://preview.redd.it/8dtjvfh4fxmf1.jpeg?width=1876&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99acf83e466f2f72d9167f6804787e05c7149052
r/MacOS • Advice for dual monitor (or ultrawide) setup with macOS with M4 ->Mac Mini m1 and Odyssey CRG9 49" with usb-c to displayport cable. I don't use BetterDisplay.
r/MacOS • Advice for dual monitor (or ultrawide) setup with macOS with M4 ->Yeah not sure. I also have the g9 49” and absolutely love it. I also have the crg9 49” and the lack of curve is pretty noticeable. Much prefer the g9. Sounds like the 57” might be somewhere in between. I’d like to see one in person but can’t find it anywhere.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why I'm returning my 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ->Once you go ultrawide, you will never go back. I'm on a 49" 5120 x 1440 120hz ultrawide as a daily driver. Ultrawide is a totally different experience, so much more scree real estate.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Torn between 34" ultrawide OLED or 32" 4K OLED for gaming ->OLED is great for game immersion and color accuracy, but not so great for productivity tasks you mentioned. OLED tends to have less sharp text, and you are at higher risk of burn in while doing productivity things. I love my 49" 1440p Samsung QLED monitor for productivity though. It is a bit of a pain if you have to share your screen in meetings. I found a work around on a PC, but I couldn't help you on a Mac.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->I am having the same remorse over the Samsung 49” q9 and ready to pack it back up and exchange for the LG 45”… just to ask you - you ‘are’ quite happy with the 45” all in all? It’s the vertical limit that is driving me crazy, it truly feels like 1/2 of a really wide screen.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Just bought the 49" G9 OLED. Having some serious buyer remorse. ->The cheapest 32:9 monitors are the 49" non-OLED monitors. Samsung Odyssey and LG UltraGear. They are $749-799 USD. You may be able to find them cheaper on sale, or open box. There are also some cheaper brands that probably use the same panel (manufactured by Samsung or LG). In the US these brands are AOC and Westinghouse. There are probably different ones in Europe. The OLED 49" monitors start at about $100 more, $849. Such as the MSI MPG. They all should have Picture-by-Picture and a KVM switch, but you might want to double check.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What are some recommendations for budget 32:9 curved monitors with picture by picture mode? ->The answer I was looking for. I have Samsung 49 non oled version and 77 C2. I have stopped gaming on 49 and game only on C2. Hoping with 45 5k2k I can move back to monitor gaming setup.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Let’s talk LG 5K2K OLED ->49" Samsung would be definitely better for work. I tried to work on 42" LG C2 as many really advise that TV as a main monitor. It was good for gaming because of OLED colors and 4k@120hz resolution, but text was blurry in some cases. I do a lot of diagraming, so it was really painful. I switched back go Samsung 49" non-oled and happy about it. Super good for productivity and good for gaming although it's not 4k and non OLED, the image quality is still good enough for gaming. 32:9 is also much better than 16:10 for both use cases imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->Triples are best, if you have the space. For sim racing, 49" 32:9 is much better than 38" 21:9, because, well, it's much wider. The most curved ones like the Samsung G9 (non-OLED) will have quite distorted edges when showing a single projection yes, but you can set them as triples with a shallow angle to counteract that. iRacing and ACC have native implementations to compensate for the curve, so they won't have this kind of distortion at all. BTW, tighter curves are preferrable for sim racing, the wrap-around effect feels more natural than having to squint to see the edges of a very wide and flatter screen. I would never consider paying triple the price of a 34" for a 38". There is a nice difference of course, but it's not massive enough to justify the massive difference in price.
r/simracing • 38-inch Monitor for simracing? ->I'll never buy another Samsung monitor. I have a non-OLED 49" Samsung. It hasn't had a firmware update since, at the most, six months after I bought it a couple of years ago or so. Sometimes, usually when switching inputs between my personal desktop and my work laptop, the screen will go completely black. Even the OSD won't display, although usually it'll still operate. The only fix is to power the monitor off and back on, using either the non-visible OSD if it's working, or just using the power switch on the surge protector I have it connected to. This happens anywhere from 4 to 16 times a week, I would guess. Also, updating the firmware did not work as easily as it leads you to believe. It was a lot of trial and error.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does anyone have this monitor and recommend it? ->45. Although I'd personally seriously consider a Dell with built-in KVM and ability to control video source through the command line. I have the 49 (non-OLED) Samsung, and I wouldn't buy another one, but I can't justify getting rid of this yet. The screen itself is great.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->My 49" works great for both my work and personal use. I do wish it had a built-in KVM so I didn't have to push separate buttons on the monitor, keyboard, and trackball, to switch, but 🤷♂️. Been using it for a year and nine months. I don't recommend Samsung, however (which is what I have, and I can't justify replacing it). I was recently tempted by the Dell ones which have a built-in KVM, but I wanted 1ms response, and I think all theirs had 5ms. I do wish Microsoft would use AI to figure out how people on modern equipment use windows. No, I don't ever want a window to be partially off-screen, et cetera. But that's not specific to ultra-wides and at least there are keyboard shortcuts to fix it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • AS A DEV - ->I "recommend" the 57" Neo G9. Best monitor I've ever had. Before that, I had the 49" non-Neo G9. I loved that one, too.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Can anyone reccomend some good Ultrawide monitors in 2025? ->I play on a Samsung g9 32:9 and it's amazing. Plenty of screen space to modify your hud however you want and still have plenty of room to enjoy the scenery in the game. "Off screen" prompts are also a bit easier to catch. I had a 21:9 that was my primary for a while but is now a second monitor, it was also good. The biggest difference for me was that I didn't have to turn my head to focus in on any part of the screen with the 21:9, on the 32:9 I'll move my head to look at different things on the screen. PC, mainly use a controller but also kbm for lots of tasks in game.
r/ffxiv • 32:9 vs 21:9 ->I ended up just getting one without USB c/thunderbolt because the options were pretty limited. Would have been nice but I can deal without
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) ->The Samsung g9, so 32:9 instead of 21:9
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) ->my current desk is 55.1" x 23.6", a bit off from your dimensions i used to run dual 32" for content consumption and gaming(both console and PC), i did run dual monitor arms for the displays and to me it didn't feel like they both were too wide for my desk with them going over a bit on each side. gaming and web browsing were the priority for that setup. next setup was with an 49" Samsung(for gaming and productivity), the dual 32s' mounted to the wall atop the 49" were for things like discord, emails and web browsing. though i enjoyed all the screen real estate, it didn't last long and thoughts of sizing down became paramount. i thought "how about" an single 34" but having 32" displays it didn't feel right, then i thought 45" LG Ultragear OLED but after owning the 49" (to me) that was still a tad bit wide for what i wanted. i ended up with an newly purchased(earlier this month) 39" LG Ultragear OLED. FOR ME it checks all the things i was looking for as far as size, specs and use. I use it for photo/video editing via my new mac mini m4 and def for FPS gaming(again console and PC). HDR when gaming has been an eye opener and game changer on this display. in my opinion, the 39" compliments MY desk's dimensions. On an monitor arm and positioned directly in the middle of the desk at arms length. haha, sorry for the looong read. good luck with whatever you decide.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best size ultra-wide monitor for a 48” x 30” desk (Work and gaming)? ->My 49” Samsung died after a year and a half and I just got ghosted by Samsung support.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->This company started off making high end portable oled monitors, I used to have one. This particular one is just the samsung 49" panel with their electronics powering it. Should be reliable.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Has anyone ever herd of this brand before? Anyone actually own this monitor? Seems like a great deal for a 32:9 OLED. ->I don’t like Samsungs 49”. It doesn’t have a good “sleep” system. Half the time I could never get it to wake up. I moved it to my work computer. It’s got different problems over there. It stays ghosted like the backlight is out until I reseat the power plug. It might be a bad monitor, but I’ve already had it replaced once.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Multiple monitor upgrade to a wide setup (info in comment) ->For productivity 49 in by far nothing beats the real estate of the 49 inch.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->I have a 49” Samsung and I hate it
r/pcmasterrace • Ultrawide screens yes or no? ->I have the 49" and am going to switch to the 45" OLED. The vertical space on the 45" makes a world of difference.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->i got one of the 49" samsungs and really all i do is race, so it's perfect for that
r/pcmasterrace • Gaming in 16:9 or 21:9, what’s your thoughts ? ->I'm team 49". Great for Sim racing and productivity, especially when mounted to a proper arm
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->I like my 49" Samsung from a workspace perspective. Great if you're taking notes, using VMs, and in Zoom and Slack/Discord all at the same time, such as doing remote SANS courses. But ... and I could be biased, I've read of too many people having issues with the Blank Screen that won't even display the OSD menu. And it seems to persist between models. I've tried way too many DP and HDMI cables for the to be 'cables' and it's driving me batshit insane. I've installed a dongle with a power switch on my desk so I can just power-cycle it real fast when it blacks out and it comes right back; sucks for gaming though. Go with the 45 or try a different brand of the 49.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->I have a 49” and will go 45” - miss the 21:9 height and the far edges of the 49” aren’t that useful.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->I started on the Samsung 49” for editing and loved it. Same real estate as 2 27” monitors. The curve didn’t bother me at all. I decided to splurge and got the Samsung 57” ultra wide and I love it even more. It’s equivalent to 2 32” 4K monitors side by side. I also prefer it to the 49” because it’s noticeably taller than the 49”. The 49” sometimes felt a bit narrow.
r/editors • Curved monitors? ->Got Samsung 49” monster, 1080p. It’s pretty good, I haven’t really encountered any problematic games aside from Souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro. And even those can be fixed via open source software. Surprisingly, all Resident evils, ( even RE5 ) are supporting the resolution. Can’t even imagine playing on anything else anymore. CS 2 is a bit of a wreck though
r/DotA2 • Are there ultrawide monitor gamers here? ->The only disadvantage is it’s heavy asf, and due to my table being from IKEA, can’t mount it with arm in fear of table giving in to pressure. Also the leg basically takes up the whole table
r/DotA2 • Are there ultrawide monitor gamers here? ->why not both? i have the samsungs 49in monitor next to my gigabyte 27in
r/excel • Two monitors or ultrawide? What is everyone using? ->eu tenho um lg ultrawide da samsung, de 49", e 2 monitores em outro pc... sinceramente, prefiro com 2 monitores para programar... é mais confortável

r/simracing • 43" tv or 49" ultrawide monitor? ->I have both and I prefer the 45. The 49 feels narrow and anything that doesn’t use the whole screen is essentially in a 27 inch screen which is too small.

r/mac • An ultrawide curved monitor suitable for a Mac – does this exist at all?
->I’m on a 49 inch Samsung G9 5120x1440p. My old build 5950 & 3080 held reasonably well but did struggle at times.
r/pcmasterrace • Advice on (ultrawide) OLED monitor ->Maybe I took it too far, but I replaecd a 32" 16x9 with a 49" Samsung Odyssey G9, 32x9. I liked it at first but eventually really missed the extra vertical space. I eventually went back to 32" 16x9.
r/pcmasterrace • Gaming in 16:9 or 21:9, what’s your thoughts ? ->I have dual 2k. The odyssey G9. 5120x1440. I love the width. I think I would have a hard time going back to normal size now. You can push that to much higher resolutions with a higher tier card as well.
r/starcitizen • 4k or 21:9 for SC? ->Yep, 49 for me. Next step is 57 I guess 🤷♂️
r/starcitizen • 4k or 21:9 for SC? ->I had a 49” odyssey, it was nice, but nowhere close to the immersion you get with properly setup triples.
r/iRacing • Thinking about getting a 57" ultrawide monitor and ditching my triple 27" curved setup. Any reason not to? Has anyone else recently moved from triples to a 57" curved? ->I like my Samsung G9 for wfh. It’s essentially two 27 inch 1440p monitors combined.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->Try fancyzones, a tool within PowerToys, a free Microsoft product. Helps a lot with my 49in ultrawide Samsung g9.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->It’s very sharp. Only thing I’d have liked is for it to be taller. It’s so extremely wide but only as tall as a 27 inch monitor.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->Yeah this was a struggle for me, choosing between the G9 and a bigger 4k monitor (or even 4k oled tv). For wfh the g9 is great, for some gaming (that would benefit from more vertical real estate) it’s terrible.
r/workfromhome • Need advise on a good office ultra wide monitor with an aggressive curve ->I don't think it's a fair comparison, the 49" is on par with something like a 34"-38" 21:9 screen, while the 45" you should compare to the 57" G9.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->How much is G9 57"? Because for purely productivity, I would get that, it's just straight up superior to the 49" G9.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->I had a 49” odyssey and moved to triples as the ultrawides are just too small for horizontal FOV. I’d still go triples
r/simracing • This monitor vs triples? Need recommendations ->I have a Samsung 49" wide, curved, gaming monitor (5120 x 1440) I also use for work. With Windows PowerToys Fancy Zones, it's a great way to lay out windows.
r/VisualStudio • Visual Studio and ultrawide monitors ->Samsung 49 odyssey. i am now using a curve monitor, there is clearly a big different between a flat and curve for UW.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Ultrawide Monitor for office work ->Terrible choice for work. I prefer my g9 49 for work over lg 5k2k. Screen is much sharper on g9. Also Les to worry to burn in my ide on oled.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Is LG 45in 5k2k worth considering if I don’t get game and just want it for productivity? ->Having tried both 16:9 and 32:9 monitors, I definitely feel like the sweet spot is 21:9. Looking forward to trying it out, I’ve ordered one but my country won’t have them available until June/July. This will be my first 4K and first OLED monitor, currently using Samsung G9 49”, just got hold of a 5090 and feels overkill for 1440p
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->As someone who just bought the g9 you are talking about this is the answer. The fov required to even play in 32:9 gives me headaches on most games (that I can even get working), the 45" 5k2k is 100% the sweet spot for normal gaming. The only reason I bought the 32:9 49" g9 is for sim racing, and its awesome for that (just not the best for normal gaming). Above all else, id prioritize oled though.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Should I be getting a 32:9 or a 21:9 monitor? ->I recently bought the Samsung G9 Odyssey 49”. 32:9. I can’t go back.
r/pcmasterrace • Gaming in 16:9 or 21:9, what’s your thoughts ? ->Hey folks, I play on a 49 inch oddysey g9. Whenever I play Warzone I have the game shrank to ultrawide rather than super ultrawide and have two black bars on either edge of the screen. Cannot find the option to do this on battlefield 6. Anybody know what setting I need to change to do it on bf6?
r/Battlefield6 • Perfect Super Ultrawide support. ->I have a 49" and 57" G9 Samsungs so not on your list that you're looking at and plugged into several Macs. First the 1000R curve is almost a must for me because the curve matches the plane of my eyes when I turn head, the screen looks straight to me. Great for ergonomics. The scaling and text quality is fine to me but I know others find it blurry compared to retina resolutions because ultra wide is a not a retina sanctioned resolution. That said, it works fine for productivity and movie watching. Others can opine on if the apps make it better. To me, the extra screen real estate is the win that I was chasing. If you need text clarity, stick with a 5k monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Macs and ultrawide monitors ->Before buying my 49" inch G9 I heard the same kind of reviews from various sources - that the curve of the screen is difficult for the eyes to get used to, among other things. I did enough research to come to the conclusion that those reviews were total bullshit. After receiving mine, I now think that those reviews were *surely* paid by competing companies as the 49" G9 is literally *perfect* for the eyes. I suspect that the same thing is happening here.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why I'm returning my 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ->Yeah I dunno, the 49” has the same sort of thing going on with sort of flat ends. It’s not noticeable and it’s probably intentional to improve UX.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Why I'm returning my 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ->Using my 49-inch Samsung G9 for productivity! Va, but the text is super clear and I can do 3 screens at once on it. Get 1440p at 120 hz on my Macbook Air M3, but I am just using a dock I love anyway and needed for peripherals.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does the perfect Ultrawide monitor for productivity first and gaming second exist? ->I’m a software dev, and I use a 49’ G9. With something like fancy zones I massively prefer its flexibility to that of a 2 screen set up (although you can run it as two monitors). Ideally I want to replace it with the 57’ to effectively get 2 4k 32’ panels.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 32:9 vs waiting for 32:10 vs 2 separate 16:9, SW dev ->you should unironically get the samsung g9 because the 110 PPI is almost exactly the same retina resolution as your macbook air's 224 PPI at 200% scale (112). things will look the same size on your 49 inch at 100% scaling so it'll be easy to move things between them. i have a LG GX9 with 125 ppi and my macbook pro 14" has 254 PPI, and at default 200% scaling u get 1512 x 982 = 127 ppi. i have the choice between using my monitor at 100% DPI and with effectively +4 laptop screens of space to put stuff in albeit with tiny font, or using it as my sole monitor with 2560 x 1080 scaled resolution which gives me effectively still retina but more than native resolution. and in retina, the OLED font issues don't exist, much less with the change from RWBG to a more similar to OS expected RGB with RGWB improving sharpness edit: jk retina on macbook air is different. the native res 13.6" changes 2560 x 1664 to 1470 x 956, which gives effectively 143 PPI on the scaled "retina" resolution. that would mean you should go for a 4k 32" monitor at 138 PPI for your macbook air instead, for similar real life sizes. the samsung 49" will make your windows look too big once you move them to it unless you apply a 125% scale, but your text will look pretty bad in macOS with that scaling at non-retina res
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->I love my Samsung odyssey 49 Samsung really put alot into this thing too that gives it sooo much more finction than just a monitor making it highly worth it imo. Idk what LG has to offer ap worse but the Samsung doubles as a literal Xbox by connecting a controller to it and streaming games through gamepass on it. That is just the start
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 45-inch LG monitor or the 49-inch Samsung monitor? ->Hows the 1% and 0.1% lows, kinda curious if its gonna be a smooth ride or an endless nightmare of optimization. 4090 and 9800 here on a 49 Odessey so kinda looking forward to it but if its another stutter fiesta I'll save my stonks 😀
r/Battlefield6 • Perfect Super Ultrawide support. ->It’s amazing for gaming. Don’t listen to haters who don’t actually own or use them. I’ve owned a Gigabyte WQC34 curved 34” monitor and it was great. I upgraded to a Samsung G9 49” monitor and it is AMAZING. I love how immersive it is, how much real-estate I get, and the overall experience. Absolutely no drawbacks except needing a beefy GPU for 5120x1440. There are no games I play that can’t do 5120x1440, except PoE2. Then, it’s just like running a 34” widescreen instead. But every other game plays at native 5120x1440 and looks amazing. Highly recommended.
r/pcmasterrace • People who use ultra wide curve monitor, is it as good as it looks? ->I currently have a 49" Samsung G9 and been on the market to replace it with something more practical for work. while its great sometimes I feel like a less aggressive ratio like the 21:9 on this GX9 would be more practical for work. this has it all!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I'm on the Samsung 49" Ultrawide one. The game is absolutely beautiful with it. I think I spent a good 2 hours the first night with it just flying around looking at planets and shit. It gave me a new appreciation for this games artwork and beauty. Even being docked in stations feels so much more cool too. It definitely took a few weeks of getting used to. I moved a lot of windows around a lot before I settled on a overview layout that works for me where I'm not moving my head left to right so much. The real estate for multiple overviews is worth it. I have 5 overviews with plenty room for more if I find something else I'd like separated. Save the monitor on Amazon. It does go on sale. I got it like 25% off for Prime Day a few months ago which is a few hundred bucks saved.
r/Eve • Anyone play on an Ultrawide OLED screen? ->Nope, not stretched. It supports the 5120x1440 resolution just fine. Meanwhile, Borderlands 4, a brand new game, can not support it properly, and it does get stretched out pretty funky like on the outer ends of the monitor. But, that game is a shit hole with a whole ass mess of other problems anyway.
r/Eve • Anyone play on an Ultrawide OLED screen? ->I second this. I use the same set up and essentially split the screen into 3 monitors. As my main layout I have the main center area take up about ~40% and the side areas take up ~30% each. Fancy zones also lets you have different layouts so the percent values actually change depending on what I’m doing but generally I have it as described above. Side note for OP, gaming can be wonky on a 49 inch ultra wide
r/VisualStudio • Visual Studio and ultrawide monitors ->I have a mac mini M1 on a 49" 5120x1440 monitor and i am never going back.
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->It's not tall, it is just really really \*really\* wide (whole width of my desk), which is amazing for how I work. Would not work well as a TV at all ;)
r/macmini • Mac Mini with an ultrawide monitor? ->I have a Samsung 49" 5120x1440. Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4. I used to have a 2080ti which could get 60-100FPS in space, 30-40 FPS on the ground. A mix of settings per the guidance from the nVidia GeForce Experience app. I upgraded to a 4080 and am now locked at 120FPS in space, and 60-75FPS on the ground. Weirdly, when on the ground and not hitting the 120FPS cap, none of my components are bottlenecked in any way (I'm running an Aida64 sensor panel on another screen). GPU Power, RAM, frequency, VRAM, utilisation, all well below max. No CPU thread more than 25-30%. I don't know why it can't run at the full locked FPS.
r/EliteDangerous • CMDRs running Ultrawide monitors, what Monitor and Graphics cards do you use? ->I was debating for a long time between the 49" 32x9 Samsung or the 45" 21x9 lg, I went with the 45" since it's actually bigger. Also most game recognizes the 21x9 ratio. The aspect ratio of the 49" is not as common. Also the 49" runs hot. I went to the local best buy and I can really feel the heat even in a normal functioning distance, something to be aware of.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does anyone have this monitor and recommend it? ->I’m a daily GIS/AutoCAD user with a 49” Samsung super ultra wide. Not gonna lie, I love it. I use PowerToys to set up workspaces I can snap windows to in place. ArcGIS is essentially in the middle in a 16:9 radio (I think it’s actually slightly wider) and then I have a space on each side of that window I can snap to. I also keep my laptop lid open so that acts as my second monitor technically. On my laptop I have Outlook or Teams or Spotify. Then on the ultra wide, I have (from left to right) my reference material, ArcGIS, and then an attribute table. It’s a game changer personally
r/gis • Thoughts/ Suggestion on Super Ultrawide monitors ->I bought 34" ultra wide and difference is kinda small. You cannot see if there is a car next to you. Even if you get something giga expensive like 49" samsung oddessey you still wont see a car next to you. So yea don't expect much. I do not regret buying mine but I do plan to buy 2 more for a triple 34" setup. When it comes to performance u shouldnt worry too much unless u are on some really old gpu. iRacing is very easy to run. I am on 3070 ti, I was at locked 144fps before and i am at locked 165fps now, obviously low graphics because this is a competitive sim, nobodys here for graphics. There is a bunch of vids that can give you idea what you can expect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjarVycYkPM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owwrNuK7aR8
r/iRacing • 27 inch to 34 inch monitor ->I went from Samsung 49 inch ultrawide, to LG C3 42 to Alienware 34 inch to Alienware 32inch 4k and i finally think this is where i will stay.
r/OLED_Gaming • Trying to decide between 34" Ultrawide vs 32" 4K ->I'm using the Samsung... Only comparison is if I go to a simulator place with triples... The triples is definitely more immersive but with the cost of monitors and GPUs I'm good with the Samsung 49 inch. I need to improve my lap times before dumping more money hearing disapproval from the wifey
r/simracing • This monitor vs triples? Need recommendations ->2 different 49" samsung models both died on me in about a year. Would not recommend, neither was OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide monitor? price not an issue. ->2 different 49" samsung models both died on me in about a year. Would not recommend, neither was OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide monitor? price not an issue. ->I went from 2 monitors plus my MacBook screen to a single 49” ultra wide Samsung monitor. I love it and will never go back to multiple monitors. My wfh office is also just so sleek and clean looking now.
r/sales • Ultra wide or multiple monitors ->I'm also coming from 38" Alienware, and it's so hard to find a good replacement. I tried samsung 49" (too wide) and AW 32" OLED and this was too narrow. Also some OLED can cause eye strain and headaches, and I'm very sensitive to this. Debating should I pull a trigger, since 5k2k finally coming down in price. Side note, I tried it previously, but returned, as I couldn't justify how expensive it was when it came out. Screen was gorgeous, but my ergotron LX arm barely could keep this monstrosity weight.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Another LG 5K2K perfection post... ->The LG G9 49“ 32:9 got really cheap used. Have one for years and still love it. Having 2x27“ seemless with a perfect curve in front of you still feels awesome. For productivity and gaming. But I also have 2x27“ 2k vertically left/right + 3x15“ USB-C portables above the 49“ :) Bit different setup, but for my usecases it‘s perfect. Maybe i change the 49“ to a 45“ 5k2k one day, but they have more height and then the 3x15“ above would maybe be too high…now it perfectly aligns.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What is the best 32:9 monitor now also compare 21:9 which one you would chose and why? ->Savage setup, nice work dude. Makes me want to trade in my Samsung 49 even though I love it. . .
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Let’s talk LG 5K2K OLED ->I think Samsung probably has more issues than other brands, but it gets blown out of proportion. I've had a Samsung 49 since 2020 which my wife now uses and the Samsung 57 since it launched without any issues.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 57" Ultrawide? ->I really like playing xiv on my Samsung 49". The only complaint I have is as a tank when there are markers above some bosses that need to be seen for mechanics, it can be hard. Just a little more vertical fov would be nice.
r/ffxiv • 32:9 vs 21:9 ->Welllll id argue it depends. From a gaming perspective for me, in SOME games there is a benefit to being able to see more to the side. But generally it's just more head moving to see things. That being said....once you get as fancy as something like the g9, you can do dual inputs to split the screen like its 2 27" 2k monitors. Great for work, then I go back to gaming on my single ultra wide input. But I'd say the benefit is really just higher on the work/productivity side over gaming. A lot of games I'm running at pretty much 4k performance but 2k resolution, because of the extra generation. Some games will also be stuck with the black boxes (I personally dont care, seeing the black box on the side of the wall and the rest of my desk I'll actually take the black box. And it's centered vs a dual monitor). I like it, and will prob keep it for the near future. I tried the big 43" 16:9 4k, and it was awesome. But the up and down was killing me. I could do with the ultrawide being juuuust a bit taller but the 43 16:9 was too tall. Tldr: for work/productivity its awesome, for gaming it can be a nice plus, but some games you'll be limited to black boxes on the side, and you will be running more at 4k level of fps and performance rather than the 1440p youre displaying.
r/pcmasterrace • Ultrawide screens yes or no? ->Double wide like the Samsung Odyssey. They're 32:9 so the size of 2 normal monitors. It's like having 2 screens without spaces between them.
r/sales • Ultra wide or multiple monitors ->21:9 I got a 32:9 and I’m regretting it 😭. Going to return it anyway back to Samsung
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I have a 32:9 and I'll never go back. I use it both as two 16:9 screens as well as one 32:9 screen and I love it. It just fills your horizontal view in a very nice way. Especially for racing games, where you can basically look out of your window just by tilting your head a bit. I've been using my Samsung 32:9 screen for 3 years now. Never ever going back. Might actually get a second one down the line with better specs and put my old one above it. Also, as I said, it's really nice as two 16:9 screens. I have my switch 2 connected and I can just play switch and have my pc on the side. It's just incredibly neat. I'm repeating myself here but yeah. Never ever going back. https://preview.redd.it/jnz5595uflpf1.jpeg?width=5120&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcdd3adbe95fb64390a282ada612f3bf1f4a4242
r/pcmasterrace • Gaming in 16:9 or 21:9, what’s your thoughts ? ->I'm running a Samsung Odyssey 32:9 at 3840x1080, graphics set to ultra. I have a Ryzen 7 3800X cpu with an RX 6750X, and 32 gb of ram. So essentially a 6 year old processor with a 3 year old gpu. I get right at 144 fps consistently in space and about 100-135-ish on foot.
r/EliteDangerous • CMDRs running Ultrawide monitors, what Monitor and Graphics cards do you use? ->I can’t go back from 49’. I bought a MacBook to work when I’m away from my desk but could not gel with the small workspace and so much scrolling…. I started with 34 on the path of Ultrawide with the predator x34 and the all the Samsung odyssey monitors. I look forward to LG’s 5k2k monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Is 34" ultrawide.. dying? ->Yeah you'll be fine, I'm running an odyssey and it smashes anything I throw at it. And I think my processor is a little slower than yours. Oh and my gpu too 😂
r/pcmasterrace • Gaming in 16:9 or 21:9, what’s your thoughts ?
->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
