honestly same situation here, two cats and stairs are a nightmare combo. the bissell pet hair eraser handheld is what finally worked for me after going through like three others that just tangled up and died. the rubber nozzle attachment is what makes the difference on furniture, it actually grabs the hair instead of scattering it. not the cheapest option but its held up way longer than anything else i tried so it evens out eventually.
