One important thing to consider: vacuuming carpets or cloth fabric is VERY different from vacuuming hard surfaces. Vacuuming hard surfaces mostly comes down to getting the most suction power and airflow. Vacuuming carpets and fabrics depends very much on agitation and mechanical friction to loosen embedded debris. You need a good attachment to achieve this. Handheld vacuums usually come with a fabric/upholstery attachment but some of them really don’t work very well at all.
