Where to begin. Well it all started 8 years ago with a shark rocket I bought at a pawn shop that changed my life. It was light weight and had the most insane edge to edge suction. You know those cobwebs in the corners of your floors? Yeah it got those. Well it started smelling like burnt rubber so I set out to buy a new vacuum. I bought a sebo and hated it. Hated lugging it around and honestly even with a motorized head (k3) the edge to edge suction was nothing like my old corded rocket. Then I bought my first battery operated stick vacuum the BISSELL PowerClean FurGuard Deluxe 280W Cordless Vacuum. Wow. Battery dies in 10 minutes out of the box. Light is really nice but the suction is still subpar! Wtf!!!!!!! Why can’t I just find an effing vacuum??!?! 2 story home, mostly hardwood and tile, some big area rugs, pets. I didn’t think I required much but shoot I want crazy suction power i guess. Please help
We bought the Bissell Furguard from Costco on sale. Comes with 2 batteries, swappable brush rollers, solid construction, enough power that I can do low pile carpet. It’ll be on sale again for Black Friday. Totally worth it for $200 right now. https://www.bissell.com/en-us/product/powerclean-furguard-cordless-stick-vacuum-4039.html https://www.costco.com/bissell-powerclean-furguard-deluxe-280w-cordless-vacuum-with-extra-battery.product.4000354460.html
It works pretty well on our area rug. The roller does most of the work and the head doesn’t suction to the rug so it’s still easy to move around. I can’t speak to other area rugs though. You can also return it to Costco if it doesn’t work for you.
We just bought this one, in the states and with a reduced price as we're members of Costco. Not sure if available in Canada or not but we like this. Battery Operated and comes with 2 batteries. Sorry. Not sure how to shorten this link. This is not a wet vac at all. https://www.bissell.com/en-us/product/powerclean-furguard%E2%84%A2-cordless-stick-vacuum-4039.html?languageok=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%5Badv:BISSELL%5D%5Bcou:US%5D%5Bchl:PaidSearch%5D%5Bini:Portfolio%5D%5Bplt:Google%5D%5Bfun:Engage%5D%5Btac:PLA%5D%5Btgt:PLA%5D%5Bcrt:StandardShopping%5D%5Bver:TestCellA-NNS%5D&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP&PID=google_%5Badv:BISSELL%5D%5Bcou:US%5D%5Bchl:PaidSearch%5D%5Bini:Portfolio%5D%5Bplt:Google%5D%5Bfun:Engage%5D%5Btac:PLA%5D%5Btgt:PLA%5D%5Bcrt:StandardShopping%5D%5Bver:TestCellA-NNS%5D&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23061331389&gbraid=0AAAAADq4hs0vtJ06oo_s3y4wjWdNNoI4y&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_rL78di4kAMVImRHAR02axjNEAQYAiABEgIdsfD_BwE
Little over $200 but we like it so far. Comes with 2 batteries which comes in handy. Nice light which lets you see all the small things you normally do not see. We use ours on a level with all wood or laminate. I'm very tall so after about 15 minutes my back starts hurting but otherwise it's proving to do a good job. We got it through a sale at Costco so we paid under $200. Copied from Amazon. Bissell PowerClean FurGuard 280W Self-Standing Cordless Vacuum w/Self-Cleaning Brush Roll, Strong Suction, Removeable Battery, Wall Mount, Upholstery Tool & Bright Headlights
I just bought the BISSELL PowerClean FurGuard Deluxe 280W from Costco for about $220. It comes with a second battery. I’ve only had it for a couple weeks but it’s great. I’m using it for the exact same reasons you’ve described. It has some good attachments too for tight spaces. The Dyson V11 apparently is good and has some refurb options on Amazon for cheaper than a truly new one. I decided on the bissell instead of the Dyson because apparently the dysons can’t stand up on their own, and that would annoy me. Shark vacs also had some good reviews overall.
I bought the Bissell 4039B (Item 1039913) from Costco and it's been great. No extra attachments that I don't need. Good filtration and seals. Battery is enough for my small condo. Plus it *stands on its own*; no time wasted trying to lean it on something, not damage walls, or break it from falling, laying on floor creating a trip hazard or bending over to pick it up for that reason. Charges to full in two hours so if I'm out of juice I can go back to it soon enough. It's also quite powerful, even on medium or low, for good battery time.
Which do you prefer, upright or canister, corded or cordless, bagged or bagless? What is your budget? Personally, I prefer bagged, corded uprights for regular cleaning. Bagged machines are more sanitary and require less maintenance than cordless ones. Corded machines are more powerful than cordless ones and (in general) clean more efficiently. I like uprights better than canisters for floor cleaning because I find them less awkward to use. For quick pickups and above floor cleaning (dusting, cobwebs), it's good to have a separate, light weight, cordless stick vacuum cleaner -- much more convenient than a big machine. I like the Lindhaus VALZER Eco Green bagged upright (I have the cordless version of this and it's excellent) and the Bissell PowerClean FurGuard 280W stick, but there are many other good choices.
