Bissell PowerForce Helix. Great suction and when set to the **bare floor setting**, its suction is amazing especially for the price! https://www.ebay.com/itm/317695278433?
Ngl the best dog hair vacuum I’ve owned is a cheap a$ one from walmart. It never clogs and nothing has broken on it after a year of use. Previous ones I was breaking belts like crazy cause of my shepherd’s hair. It’s this one, $59. BISSELL PowerForce Helix, Bagless, Upright Vacuum, Pet Friendly, Scatter-Free Technology, Helix Dirt Separation System, Lightweight, 3313, Blue & Black
I have multiple cats and have this one too. Works well. Op - also check Craigslist and FB marketplace. I’ve had to give away 2 of these due to long distance moves.
[THIS](https://www.walmart.com/ip/1107918809?sid=2c0607f8-a8b2-4393-a81c-a69b7b85a59e) is the vacuum you need!! It’s only $59. Trust me. I have a Husky and this baby has treated us well. I vacuum every day, sometimes 2x a day because of allergies. I’m on my third one (I simply repurchase it because I use it so often), and at this price point, it’s a trooper. Highly recommend it.
SECONDING THIS! It's almost too strong lol, it's quite the arm workout on carpet! u/SlightArgument all the comments saying you need to spend more than $100, or buy a secondhand vacuum that might have something wrong with it, are full of beans. Get this one from Walmart!
The Bissell 3313 is pretty light at 12 lbs. I agree with u/Flat_Direction1452 there aren't many vacuums that are lighter and good at cleaning carpets. You could try an Oreck XL. They're lighter. New ones are around $150-170 but you can find many used Orecks for $50 or less. They don't have any hose or tools. There's the Vacmaster UB0402 $111. It's a copy-cat of an Oreck XL but actually has a few improvements like led headlights, hepa bags standard, and a 2 speed switch. I don't recommend a cordless stick vacuum. They don't deep clean carpets and since you hold the bin, battery, and motor at the top the handle weight is actually heavier than an upright vacuum.
I agree with Flat\_Direction, I think your students would benefit the most from using the most common vacuums they will come in contact with. The cheap Eureka and Bissell stick vacuums are not what people commonly buy to clean carpets. The Eureka Airspeed is most like the average bagless vacuum. The most common vacuums are Bissell PowerForce Bagless and Shark Navigator vacuums. Sadly most box stores don't sell bagged vacuums and canister vacuums are rare so I wouldn't get them for your students. Bissell PowerForce Helix #3313 $59 (walmart) Shark Navigator NV380 $118 (walmart) With the Bissell PowerForce, Shark Navigator, and Eureka Airspeed your students can practice emptying the bin, checking the filters, and using a hose and tools. The little stick vacuums don't have a hose and tools and their bins/filters are not the common bagless upright design. Hope that helps.
