Yeah that's a really tight budget which limits your options. I'd go for either a bissell powerforce bagged from walmart if you want the most powerful and best air filtration. You do have to buy disposable bags which collect the dirt, but they are easy to find and pretty cheap. And since it uses a bag, you don't have to clean filters and it retains dust way better than bagless models in that price range. Otherwise the bissell powerforce compact is a smaller and slightly cheaper options. It's not as good and you have to clean the filter really regularly on it, but it is more compact which might appeal to you.

Shark! I’ve had Bissell, Dyson, and Shark. The Bissell I had was an early bagless model, and it was an absolute pain to empty out. I replaced it with a Dyson canister that the sales guy at Bed Bath and Beyond sold me on. I discovered those were a PITA when you have stairs, so I replaced it with a Shark this year. The Shark is easy to empty out and has crazy suction. I’m moving out of the townhome I rented for the past year before buying my house, and even though I haven’t lived in the townhouse in over a month, the Shark keeps pulling up dust and cat hair.

I bought a Miele Complete C3 in store on black Friday for $450 CAD included a 8 pack maintenance bag and filters. Was originally going to get the E1 Kombi for $449, but the salesman pushed me towards the Miele saying it was a better deal and better for people with allergies. Vacuumed whole house, and it is amazing. Had a Bissel PowerForce for over 10 years that finally started to lose suction and was leaving a lot behind. The Miele does almost as good as a canister my parents had from the 80s that was built like a tank, but is pretty much whisper quite by comparison. That thing lasted 30 years. I have zero carpets and a single rug. So didn't need a power head.

Bissel Powerforce, it’s the best vacuum I own (I also have extremely pricey useless Dyson and a slightly better Samsung). Nothing cleans as well as the Bissel. It was like … 120? And it’s light, so light it feels junky but it works so well

I have a dyson stick that is many many years old. I love it and use it daily. However, it is not sufficient for carpet. It gets the little bits in between cleans, but if I do a dyson pass and follow up immediately with my cheapo bissel standup wall plug vacuum, that thing picks up sooooo much. Just an insight from someone that's not going to tell you theres only two vacuum options you should consider or else.
