https://www.blackanddecker.com/products/bsv2020p I have hard floor with rugs everywhere and it works good, use medium or low suction on carpets. Clean the filter often, get 2-3 extra filters to rotate between. This is important to keep the suction at full strength. Replacement batteries are easy to find and will be for a long time because they use the same battery for a lot of tools. There's a similar one that's not "pet" branded, I think the pet one just has some rubber built in to the roller.
I’m late to the party, but my Black & Decker was less than $200 and works great for small spaces! [https://www.blackanddecker.com/products/bsv2020p?srsltid=AfmBOoqc8nso8gBeCrw7QDgMSI_wXn3nFBPzQ59o8low4j-BUDW2ibGq](https://www.blackanddecker.com/products/bsv2020p?srsltid=AfmBOoqc8nso8gBeCrw7QDgMSI_wXn3nFBPzQ59o8low4j-BUDW2ibGq) You will know when the filter needs to be changed when you lose suction. I just tap out the initial nasty stuff in the garbage and then beat the crap out of it in my kitchen sink, wash the stuff down the drain, rinse the filter as much as possible, and let it air dry before putting it back in the vacuum/using it again. I haven’t had to replace the filter in over a year with 2 Great Pyrenees and 3 cats.
Stick vacs are not useless. The issue is that many people want to use one as their primary vacuum. Can you use one as your primary or only vacuum? Sure. Is it going to clean as well as a bagged and corded vacuum? No. Just keep in mind that any bagless vacuums will require more maintenance than a bagged. Look for a model that has a removable battery and readily available replacement filters. I bought a Black and Decker BSV2020P just under two years ago and it works great as a supplemental vacuum.
Dyson is not a quality product. I would avoid both Dyson and Shark as they do not order much support for their products. If you want to invest the Dyson level money look into the Miele Triflex as it is fully repairable and supported. I've also heard good things about the Riccar R65 but have not had a chance to try it yet. I personally own a Black and Decker that I've had coming up on two years and it's still going strong. It has a removable battery and filters are readily available. I also only paid $150 for it so if it doesn't have replacement parts available later it's not a huge loss.
For pet hair and carpet, the Black + Decker powerseries extreme worked great for me. For just a little over $200 it does a really good job with carpet and pet hair. Suction on carpet is so strong plus the rotating bristles help dig out he pet hair
This right here. I have a Roomba that is programmed to sweep twice a week, a Black & Decker stick vac with removable and rechargeable battery for convenient clean ups, and a Miele bagged canister vac with the electric floor brush for weekly deep carpet and upholstery cleaning. I also have a Vapamore canister steam cleaner for bi-monthly tile floor cleaning.
I agree with this. For the cordless vacuum, do not cheap out as the battery is crap. I bought 40 sgd was nearly useless. Less than 10 mins suction time and battery died less than a year. I went for a black and decker with a replaceable battery. The battery used in their power tool systems, a bit bulkier but at least you can swap battery packs.
