These are very different machines. 1. Shark SteamPickUp is a steam mop. It only wet cleans hard floors with steam and a soft brushroll. It has a tray to collect larger debris and claims you do not have to sweep before you use the Shark mop. It does not have any vacuum and it cannot dry vacuum floors. Pros: it's a steam mop so you only use water, it has a tray so you don't have to sweep first. Cons: there are no dry vacuuming functions, the tray is very small and you should sweep your floors first or it will fill very quickly, Shark is a very unreliable and unrepairable brand. It says you don't have to wash a mop pad, but you will need to wash and dry the brushroll. 2. Bosch Series 4 is a regular dry canister vacuum. It will dry vacuum hard floors and rugs. It has a hose, wand, and tools to vacuum anything above the floors like couches, stairs, dusting book shelves. It does not have any mopping function but you can buy vacuum accessories such as turbo brushes if you want to clean larger rugs. Pros: Bosch makes a very good canister vacuum with strong suction but it's very quiet, and it's cheaper than Miele and Sebo. Cons: it's a dry vacuum so it does not mop. Imho you need a dry vacuum. Mopping alone does not adequately clean hard floors. I have a vac-mop and it doesn't not clean the crevices as well as dry vacuuming and then mopping. The Bosch is a very good affordable canister vacuum. I like that it uses synthetic cloth bags and Bosch makes a good vacuum. I recommend getting a good dry vacuum like the Bosch and get a mop of your choice. You might be thinking about a vacuum-mop like the Bissell Crosswave or Tineco iFloor, but these are mops and do not dry vacuum. Some Crosswaves dry vacuum very poorly. If you want a mop that does not use chemicals you can get a steam mop. Steam is helpful for breaking up some stains. However steam mops shouldn't be used on biological stains as the heat can bake/set the material. Also the steam does not sanitize floors as it's not hot enough and held in the same place long enough to sanitize. If you want a steam mop I wouldn't buy a Shark as they are an unreliable brand. Use distilled water in a steam mop so the minerals do not clog the mop. If you want a steam mop look for a brand that stands up on it's own, I think it makes it much more convenient. If you want the least amount of maintenance I think a reusable spray mop is the lowest maintenance and you can mix your own cleaning solution. I hope that helps.

I've got hard floors as well and have had a little Bosch canister vac for many years that works great and has never given me any issues whatsoever. I would never buy anything from Dyson, that guy is a complete fuckstick and his stuff is wildly overpriced.
