Tried cordless, just not powerful enough with 2 labradors. After reading reviews online went with the Dyson Animal 2, best vacuum I've ever used, incredible suction power, easy to use and empty.
r/AskUK • What is the best hoover brand that you have had/experienced? ->I don't have animals anymore but I have a Dyson ball animal 2. I hate it because I can't use it to vacuum my car. The accordion hose is so tight I can't stretch it to even use it for longer than 2 minutes. I don't have that kind of muscle. It's exhausting to use. Can't use it for anything other than the floor so it's useless on the couch. That's something you need to consider if the pets are allowed in the furniture.
r/Frugal • Favorite/best affordable vacuum cleaner? Preferably something that handles cat hair. ->Yeah, I was really disappointed because part of the reason I bought it was to clean my car and my couch. I'm old but I'm not weak. My husband has trouble with it too and he works a physical job.
r/Frugal • Favorite/best affordable vacuum cleaner? Preferably something that handles cat hair. ->I scored a Dyson ball animal 2 at a flea market for $10 not knowing if it even worked took it home and plugged it in and it worked great! I took the entire thing apart anyway to clean and sanitize and it’s worked great for years!
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I've had a Dyson animal ball 2 for 8 years and I love it. I don't beat it to hell sucking up things I shouldn't and I get it maintained every year. I have a cattle dog and two cats, so animal hair everywhere. And two boys who seem to generate crumbs out of thin air. It still sucks everything up like a champ. I'm no longer surprised but always disgusted by how much fine dust and hair is in the bin when I'm done vacuuming.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I would keep it for that price of $279 because you may someday want to put carpet on your tile floors it you own your house because tile is very cold in the winter unless you live in a really warm climate in the winter. I got obsessed this year in 2025 with buying the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Complete vacuums with all the 10 attachments and I got it for a lower price than the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra with only 4 attachments and the Dyson Ball Animal 3 with only 2 attachments. I bought 4 of them on Dyson Website. On Dyson Website today on 04/19/2025 the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Complete is going for $399.00 with the 10 attachments, and the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is going for $499.00 with only 4 attachments, and the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is going for $399.00 with only 2 attachments. Dyson stopped making Corded Vacuums, but the Dyson Ball Animal 3 was released in Summer of 2022. I never want a Cordless Vacuum so I have bought 2 for my house for upstairs and downstairs and 2 for my other house that my son lives in for upstairs and downstairs and on Ebay I found 2 Brand New in the Box Dyson Ball Animal 3 Completes with all 10 attachments for $299.00 and another Dyson Ball Animal 3 Complete with all the 10 attachments for $270.00 and one Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra with 4 attachments for $213.00. I am stocking up because I want to start cleaning other peoples houses that are older and have a hard time cleaning their house so I want to have extra vacuum cleaners in case they break down and to last me until I die which I am already almost 73 years old and they are suppose to last 10 years if you wash the filters and replace the filters when needed and clean the cyclone on them the way Dyson recommends. I love the looks of them. They are so cute with that ball and the only vacuum I have ever seen with that cute ball. Cordless vacuums batteries run out after about 70 minutes and some of them if on high speed battery runs out after 5 or 10 minutes plus the batteries are expensive to replace and those cordless vacuums that Dyson sells are a lot more expensive than the Dyson Ball Animal 3 plus the Dyson Ball Animal 3 has a Detangle Brush Head where you do not have to cut off hair that gets tangled on the Brush Head. If you are cleaning a big house 70 minutes is not enough time so you better purchase an extra battery. Hope you will be happy with your Dyson.
r/VacuumCleaners • Just bought a Dyson animal 3+ at Costco did I screw up ->Dyson Animal Ball 3…best thing ever
r/germanshepherds • Vacuum recommendations ->The ball animal 3 isn’t awful and $279 isn’t a bad price. Plus Costco has an excellent return policy. The Ball Animal 3 has a much better power nozzle. The Animal 2s love to wrap hair that then moves into the brush drive mechanism bearings and literally melts it apart. The new design is better and pops out for easy cleaning. My best suggestion on that machine is to keep the cone filter in the cyclone pack clean. Do not wash the exhaust filter hidden in the ball - the minerals in water will clog it (the cone filter in the bin is perfectly fine to wash). Replacements are easy to find online. The largest issue is the cyclone packs on dyson machines are hard to clean. Don’t overfill the bin and keep the screen inside (called a shroud) clean. It’s a good idea to use an air compressor (wear a dust mask) and blow the dust out from the whole thing. Fine dust builds up inside the cyclone packs and starts to decompose, causing smells.
r/VacuumCleaners • Just bought a Dyson animal 3+ at Costco did I screw up ->V11 and later versions of their cordless perform ok for thick carpets. You have to open the front gates to relieve pressure. If you have a lot of carpet, you have to learn to stop cleaning your entire home in one go. If you really want a Dyson, I would personally only get the Ball Animal 3 for your thick carpets. It also works really well for hard floors. You should watch Vacuum War's review on it to see if it fits your needs. DO NOT get any other version of Dyson uprights, they are horrible and only work on very specific types of carpets. Otherwise, a Sebo upright is my next recommendation if you don't mind bagged.
r/dyson • What is the best vacuum for carpeted floors? ->I'm upgrading mine from a Shark to a Sebo Felix. All Sebo uprights are 20% off. This is after buying a Dyson Ball Animal 3 and loving the results but immediately having issues with the head clicking(beater bar issue) and returning it. Felix is about 600USD on sale and Dart is 400
r/VacuumCleaners • Did anyone upgrade their vacuum cleaner for Black Friday deals? ->Dyson ball animal 3 is a great option, we have had uk models similar to it for 7 years and they are still standing strong
r/VacuumCleaners • Can you help me find a vacuum cleaner that’s moderately affordable? ->The Ball Animal 3 isn't the worst bagless vacuum you can get, BUT any quality/longevity Dyson had is gone and their customer service anymore is awful. Plus while it can do hard flooring its primarily meant for carpet. Are you open to canister vacuums? They're generally the best for hard flooring since they have dedicated attachments for it. Echoing ConBroMitchs recommendation: If you can stretch your budget the Miele C1 Pure suction is a great machine. If not, Simplicity Jill with a Wessel Werk TK286 Turbobrush for the rugs (and I'd personally also recommend the Wessel Werk RD285 hard floor tool much better than the standard Jill tool).
r/VacuumCleaners • Just bought a Dyson animal 3+ at Costco did I screw up ->We dont know what breaks YOUR bank. We like the Dyson Ball Animal 3 ok with two dogs and a mix of carpet/hardwood. This thead is recent and has some other suggestions. [Best vacuum for insane amounts of dog hair? : r/VacuumCleaners](https://www.reddit.com/r/VacuumCleaners/comments/1gsq4pm/best_vacuum_for_insane_amounts_of_dog_hair/)
r/homeowners • Best house vacuum ->We've got hardwood with vintage hand-woven rugs as well as a thick maroon wood rug (where he likes to sleep) and get along well with a Dyson Animal Ball 3, got at Costco and it pulls that red rug clean on one swipe, so satisfying. Couple sorta frustrating design elements like the chord has to be all the way off to use the extension, or adjustments are limited or inconvenient on brush/suction, but other design elements rock like how easy it is to maneuver or the solid feel overall. Prob going to sell this and get a canister. Picked up a Kenmore 800 series and it felt cheap, head wandered as opposed to the dyson which pulls nice straight, but because its just sort of a tank.
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->We have been through a few Dysons, I’m blow away by how much better the Samsung bespoke does. We don’t even have use our full size Dyson animal anymore.
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->I’ve been replacing the battery in our long Dyson vacuum. We’ve had it for over a decade and it’s still going strong. Dyson stopped making batteries for it, so I have to buy them from amazon
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I had a Dyson animal ball lasted me 6 years, died randomly one day , bought a shark , been happy with it.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I mean you could always try a $50 turbo nozzle and return it if it doesn't perform as you want. But generally they are not ideal for medium pile or higher. I have medium pile wall-to-wall on my 2nd floor and am using a Miele Classic C1 Cat & Dog with the electric brush roll. It works extremely well, much better than my upright Dyson Ball Animal. I also use the Miele downstairs for hardwood and area rugs, and got rid of my dinky shark stick vacuum. So I replaced 2 bagless vacuums with 1 bagged.
r/VacuumCleaners • Will a turbo nozzle be good enough on a lot of carpet? ->On the corded front We have a Dyson Ball Animal we bought in 2021 no issues at all with 5 girls, and 3 males most with long hair which we bought while we replaced a host the kids shot a short pencil through. We also have a Dyson Multi Floor 2 (bought 2018) that the kids shot a short pencil through the curved back hose. we replaced with the newer Dyson ball while I decided to get around to fixing. I fixed it by buying that curved hose part for $18, then installed it and it is working great. We also have Dyson V8 (2018) which is great but doesn't have a long battery life on turbo. I have other family members that also have V8s except 1 which has A V10 they got at Costco which seems to be like the V10 but longer battery life. Other brands I hear good things about is Shark which Costco also carries. Unsure the hate. Over 10 Dyson vacuums in the family absolutely none of the have had issues unless we caused physical damage to it. Seems it was very easy to repair.
r/VacuumCleaners • Does Dyson Animal 3 top the cleaning power of their best cordless vacs ->+1 for Dyson My original Animal Ball, that I bought over 20 years ago, is still going strong and has never needed service. (Except that one time one of my dogs ate through the power cord, but that was a quick fix!)
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->I switched from a dyson ball animal to a miele upright, and the difference was amazing. It's like going from a ninja blender to a vita-mix.
r/VacuumCleaners • My original Dyson lasted me 19 years. Are Dysons any good still? Or should I switch to a Sebo? Have carpet upstairs and on the stairs. Roomba takes care of the tIle downstairs. ->I agree with you, in that your upright is superior to the ball. But the Miele IMO is in a different class than both.
r/VacuumCleaners • My original Dyson lasted me 19 years. Are Dysons any good still? Or should I switch to a Sebo? Have carpet upstairs and on the stairs. Roomba takes care of the tIle downstairs. ->I have 2, 7, and 18. I think I paid $60 for all three at yard sales. Kenmore Elite is wonderful for bedrooms. Dyson v8 is great for busy areas and stairs. Dyson ball animal is for a deeper clean than the v8. I also have a Hoover Hepa Animal 2 and the Hoover Max Extract Pressure-Pro (Model 60) from Breaking Bad. Great combo for deep clean after dealing with animal messes. Kenmore is the poor man’s Miele. Dyson is repairable, but a pain in the butt for the vortex areas to keep clean. Hoovers are stupid simple to keep in tip top shape. I have a simple Dirt Devil and Harbor Freight shop vacuum for my garage. Both are great for regular use.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I'm curious from an engineering point of view... Do you think someone will ever create a vacuum cleaner that can suck up long hair off a carpet without the hair getting tangled in the rollers? Like is it even possible?? I'm guessing maybe with some kind of razors to cut the hairs it might be, but even razors will get dulled over time. So I don't know. I have a Dyson Ball animal vacuum and the main maintenance on this thing is using scissors to cut all the long hair off the rollers very frequently. If I don't do this the roller gets overloaded and breaks. I've replaced at least two rollers so far from hair overload, which stresses the bearings.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I have a Dyson upright pet because everyone else in my family does and we all love it. No one's had a single problem, and it sucks the everliving hell out of pet hair-filled carpets. Think the first one of us to get it has had it 10 years, some almost as long. Mine's a refurb I got 5 years ago and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I never knew that Dyson hate existed until I saw it on this sub recently. Everyone in my family group loves Dyson vacuums for pet hair. I've had excellent luck with mine, a significant improvement over every other vaccum I've ever used. I also don't care about cordless vaccums. Bagless ball all the way. Mine's a factory refurb and it's gone without a hiccup for 5 years.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I like how simple and easy my Dyson is, easy to work on and reliable. It smelled like a belt was burning up, then I checked and realized there was nothing to replace. No belt. Cleaned a filter I didn't know existed and good to go. Took 3 years of heavy use with multiple pets for that to be a problem.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I have a Dyson ball, the one where the main unit rolls on the floor and you have the handpiece connected with a hose, has served me well for 6 years no issues. Easy to clean and empty. I see a lot of people recommended Miele here, never tried them but they use bags, I don't like those types
r/AskIreland • What vacuum cleaners do people recommend? ->Whoever has those Dysons clearly doesn’t have multiple long-haired, double coated pets running around. I had the stick and the ball versions and both barely lasted a year
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I had a dyson ball that lasted 6 years with good maintenance. Can’t be too mad about that i guess. Spent $1000 on a miele c3 so if i don’t get a decade out of it, then i blame this sub.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->I regret my Dyson ball as well, but it's only 4 years old (bought it as a 1yo refurb) so I'm going to use it for the next decade or so until it dies on me. Carrying it up and down stairs, getting it to follow me around corners... honestly, it feels like it makes just about everything more difficult, though thankfully just in a frustrating way and not a "I can't even do what I need to" way.
r/Frugal • Favorite/best affordable vacuum cleaner? Preferably something that handles cat hair. ->I have a Bissel Pet canister for quick, everyday use. It is fairly light and effective. I've had to change the belt and roller a few times. I bought a Dyson ball that i thought would replace the Bissel that was getting old. I only use it for deeper cleans. It is *heavy* and the wand is unwieldy. Plus, the clog points are many, but it does have serious power. It also does well on hard flooring because you can turn the roller off.
r/homeowners • Best (cost/performance) vacuum cleaner? ->I had a Dyson Ball but was always disappointed in it. Friend recommended the Shark so I got one. Of course I had to do a direct comparison so vacuumed my condo with the Dyson and got my normal results, then the Shark. I filled the canister on the first go. The 3 years of grossness that the Dyson left behind was surprising.
r/AskACanadian • Canadians, I need a vacuum recommendation. 😋 ->I own two Dysons and a Miele C3. I've had the Dyson Ball for about 12 years. I hated emptying the thing because of all the dust, etc, forcing me to always take it to the outside trashcan, which cut down on vacuuming in the winter and in the rain. Based on many, many recommendations I got the Miele and the powerhead jammed with pet hair within the first few minutes. "Not a problem, I'll just pull the roller and cut the hair off", I thought. The damn thing is not designed to be serviced except by a repairman. Seriously, even for hair wound up on the roller bar. After spending a couple of hours taking apart and putting it back together, I 3D printed an adapter to accommodate my Dyson tangle free turbine, which handles pet hair with practically no issues. That is a pretty good combination, to be honest, but that Dyson head is only about 4 inches wide, resulting in a lot of push/pull over the carpet. Plenty of suction from the Miele which, other than the servicing issue, I think is a good vacuum, but seriously over-priced--just like most Dysons. But after 5 years of the Miele-Dyson combo, I researched to see if the was anything new to tackle pet hair and found Dyson had improved things while Miele appears stuck. Enter the Dyson V15 Detect. I have not touched the Miele since I got the V15 a year ago. Good battery, good suction, handles pet hair way better than the old tangle-free turbine head and I can pull the roller bar, clear the wound up hair and be vacuuming again in less than 5 minutes. I still have the Miele and I should probably do a test with a clean bag and see how much of anything the V15 is missing (since the V15 will get all the pet hair). There are definite advantages to being corded and using bags, but those same things are also negatives in many circumstances. With the V15, I am less reluctant to vacuum and tackle patches of pet hair with vigor. With the Miele, I am pretty confident it is removing plenty of fine dust with the HEPA filtering and changing a bag is cleaner than emptying the V15 (which is far better than the old Dyson ball canister). I like my V15 for now. I'd love to see something better for pet hair from ANYBODY in the next 5 years, but especially from the robo-vacuum folks.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I find it works great. I slap that bad boy on boost and go to town. I got 4 animals and hardwood floor. It also will literally change the color of carpet as it goes over. I also had a dyson ball and that thing sucked the sand out from under the subfloor. Ive been disappointed with kirbys and sharks though.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->I confess my first pet Dyson was awesome (pre ball) #1 with suction and ease of attachments. After 9 strong years of use I decided to "upgrade". The second pet Dyson wasn't amazing, I didn't like the ball or how I had to remove items to get to the hose attachments etc, BUT it did great on carpets and tiled floors. After 4 years of use, it was destroyed by diatomaceous earth (lessons learned, it goes through the filter and builds up in the motor). I decided to go a different route with 2 different branded vacuums, stick style and push. Over the past two years with pet hair everywhere, they were ok but even cleaning filters they started to smell. This past Dec we decided to go again with Dyson and it's amazing how much it pulls up and gets all the hair and tracked dirts (we are in dusty NM). Still don't like some of the ball features but I am really glad to have one back in the house. My 2 cents.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I have a Dyson Ball and I hate it, its always clogging and the wand feature is poorly implemented and difficult to use. I'm leaning towards a canister vacuum to replace it.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Yup. My wife bought into the hype a few years back and bought a Dyson ‘Ball’. The thing is so weak. Also, I hate how there’s not a single component on it that isn’t made from plastic. It’s just a matter of time until something cracks and/or breaks. Fortunately, we still have my old Kenmore vac (from the ‘90’s) and that baby certainly does suck (in a good way). I’ve come to the conclusion that, when it comes to vacuums, the heavier it is means it’ll likely have more suction power. That, and the main vacuum tube/shaft should be made from metal.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Similar exerience with my dyson ball (not sure of the model). So much more user friendly than the felix I own that the folks (mostly salesmen) love here.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->I had the old dyson ball for like 15 years before giving it away because I moved into a house without carpeting. Great vacuum and tons better to use than the ergonic mess called a felix (which I own) and every canister vac like my henrys (yes I have 2). Lot of misinformation here like needing to buy hepa filters every 6 months? Everyone talks about dyson marketing but how about all the miele/sebo shills trolling this reddit?
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->I had a Shark and loooooved it at first. It lost suction after about a year. I took it completely apart and cleaned every single serviceable part I could-to no avail. Major disappointment. My Dyson ball is 6 years old and going strong. That thing is one bad bitch. No idea how the cordless ones fare.
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->I got a dyson ball and that shit was ass. Returned it less than a week later and got a shark instead
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Build quality felt cheap and flimsy and the suction was meh. Also the hose would try to retract as soon as the vacuum was turned on, so it was truly a workout to use it
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->We got a labrador many years ago and we called him Floyd. Such a beautiful dog. But we should have called him blizzard! Because so much hair would come off him when he moulted. Our vacuum cleaner, an Electrolux, was just not doing the job. So we went out and brought a Dyson ball vacuum cleaner. It did a really good job and still is about 20 years later. At the very least I'd say make sure any vacuum cleaner you buy has a rotating brush.
r/australia • Vacuum Recommendations? ->So I had a Dyson upright Animal vac that did a pretty decent job but both my healers despised it with a vengeance and would nip at it and attack it whenever I vacuumed. I tried to scare them away by unleashing the vac brush on them and, what do you know, the lil raptors loved it. After they got used to the routine, I’d get the vac out and vacuum them first then the house. It was a win win. God, I miss those guys.
r/blueheelers • Vacuum Recommendations!! ->Leaf blower and an industrial exhaust fan. But honestly we go three ways. We have a carpet broom that has rubber teeth on a broom handle we use before the Shark vac once a week, and for the hardwoods we use a handheld with a long extension so we can do a quick once over around the corners and edges of everything daily. We found out the hard way if you only use a traditional vacuum, even if it’s a really nice Dyson that’s says it specifically for heavy shedding pets, you will get a ton of hair in the roller and will burn out the motor or at least clog the roller and it will break and stop spinning.
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->I’m sorry, the cordless Dyson isn’t that great for carpet/rugs so I wouldn’t rank it that high. The attachments are excellent for their specific uses like couch/mattress, the nozzle for corners but I have the old school Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner and it’s sooo much better for rugs. Vacuum’s with cords for the win!
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I hate my Dyson animal upright. I’m going back to shark when this squeaky, hard to clean, heavy pos dies.
r/VacuumCleaners • My original Dyson lasted me 19 years. Are Dysons any good still? Or should I switch to a Sebo? Have carpet upstairs and on the stairs. Roomba takes care of the tIle downstairs. ->I have a Dyson animal upright from around the same time. Maintenance is key. My kids swept up grated Romano cheese at one point. Turn the vacuum on smell was awful. Pulled and cleaned the filters, vacuumed up a box of baking soda and smell was gone.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I have a Miele canister and upright, they are great and I would recommend them to anyone. I also still have a Dyson Animal upright that I bought in 2003. I think keeping them going for the long term is in doing maintenance on them.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->A lot of others have responded to the question you asked me but here goes. Make sure you change bags and filters (some filters are washable) on a regular basis. Clean the roller as others have mentioned. These are easy things you should do often. Check the belt for the roller brush, they stretch and wear more than you would expect. On the Dyson I have I have rebuilt the clutch and changed the belts twice. Wash it! Take the hose off and spray some cleaner in it with some water. Then pick it up with an end in each and like a horseshoe. Move your arms up and down separately, right arm up means left down etc. Do this for just few minutes and drain it by holding one end high and letting the other down so all the junk will come out, trust me it can be gross looking. Next do it with water and see how it comes out, go until it drains clean. Hang it to dry as much as you can. If it is on a canister like a Miele reattach and put a towel in place of the bag then turn it on, this will help pull the water from the hose and the towel will absorb it before it gets to the motor. Clean the area where the bag goes with a cleaner of your choice and wipe it out with a towel. Clean all hose connections and seals that you can see. If you want to take it further then you can disassemble it and clean the area around the motor and the motor itself, don’t use water or a cleaner on the motor as this will accelerate it going bad. Most of the time you can just wipe them off as they will have a black soot on them. If you follow the steps above then your machine will last a long time.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->The Dyson animal is the same way, really hard to find any parts. I had a piece of the plastic handle break on the dust canister and while it didn’t affect the machine in how it worked I wanted it to look right and ended up buying the part on eBay.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I actually own six different vacuums. Yeah I heard that the Dyson is garbage for a long time but it still works and works better than most.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I've never had a miele, but i certainly don't buy dyson because it's convenient. They're expensive as hell. I buy dyson because they work reliably for years. I replace the filters every year or two, and otherwise i just don't even think about them. I have a handheld and a plug in dyson, and they have seriously won me over. There's lots of options that are similar on the market, but i've never found any other vacuum that works that well
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I used a dyson and once I got used to it I love it tbh. My house is only 96sqm so I put it on full blast and it does the job. I do appreciate its a pain in the hole if there is something a legacy cleaner would deal with. If I had more space in gaff I migjt have went for a Henry. I am mostly commenting because my mob is shite and need to get something better myself 😅
r/AskIreland • What vacuum cleaners do people recommend? ->I think it just takes a but of getting used to. Like the first few times I used it if there was a small peace of plastic.or paper on the ground my old Henry would eat it right up but the Dyson goes on strike 😅. Once you make that adjustment I find it class. Light weight, easy to use and with mod houses its so easy to store as well.
r/AskIreland • What vacuum cleaners do people recommend? ->Dyson are an utter rip off. I sympathise completely with you. Used to own one and I felt I’d have to do two rounds of the house to get it clean. Go for a Miele, they are cheaper and significantly better.
r/AskIreland • What vacuum cleaners do people recommend? ->I think most people buying vacuums aren’t treating or looking at them as BIFL. Vacuum techs are going to crap on anything difficult to repair/maintain while your average consumer is only going to see the end result. I’ve owned a Hoover upright, shark upright, Dyson upright, and now 2 different Dyson sticks including the v15. I would never buy a canister vacuum due to what I deem as an inconvenience in pulling it around everywhere. When we owned a house with majority carpet the Dyson and Shark uprights were great. We have dogs and their brush roll was incredible at picking up pet hair. Our current house is primarily hardwoods and we still have dogs. The V15 is amazing, super light, and convenient. And despite how gimmicky the green light thing may look it really does work amazingly well for hardwoods with pet hair. It does ok on carpet and rugs but the old canisters feel like they would for sure outperform it. I don’t really expect a lifetime out of my vacuum especially if I’m buying a $150 Shark. If I get several years I’m pretty happy as the repair bill is near the cost of the Vacuum - it’s almost like the printers whose ink refills was more expensive than a new printer.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I’m scared to even say this but I use sharks for my housekeeping business and I love them. I also used OLD OLD Dyson uprights (not balls) and I will still reach for those for dirty jobs because I love how easy they are to take apart. One of my clients has a Miele and I hate it. I am much more efficient with my sharks and dysons. And yeah I just clean them regularly
r/VacuumCleaners • Bought a Shark and it’s incredible!! ->I think Dyson is a great vaccum that is aimed at consumers. I have the corded upright one myself. It's probably the best consumer vaccum I have used. The vaccum techs seem to prefer commercial use ones. And they seem great. I hire a cleaner sometimes that uses a Meile and it certainly cleans better than the Dyson. But I don't want to lug it around myself.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I have a Dyson upright and I was also given an older Shark Stick (not cordless). I prefer the Shark even though it has a cord. I bet I would like a cordless Shark even more. Point being, Dyson isn’t the end all be all anymore.
r/VacuumCleaners • My original Dyson lasted me 19 years. Are Dysons any good still? Or should I switch to a Sebo? Have carpet upstairs and on the stairs. Roomba takes care of the tIle downstairs. ->I use a hand held one (probably from Amazon, I can’t remember!) that isn’t a named brand or anything special. I use that to hoover poos etc up in the cage day to day. I also use the hand held one to hoover up any loose bits of hay on the carpet when my girls have had floor time. Once these have been hoovered up, I hoover the carpet as normal with my Dyson upright hoover. I accidentally got a bit of hay stuck in my new Dyson when I first got it so I make sure anything like that is gone before the main hoover comes out. Having said that, I have an older hoover from Argos - it was the cheapest they sold I think; a white one. It’s an upright electric one and doesn’t look like it would do much but it’s actually really good. Now I’ve got the Dyson, the Argos one has been relegated to hoovering piggy messes when I don’t want to use the hand held.
r/guineapigs • UK recommendation for vacuum cleaner that can handle piggy mess ->I’m genuinely not sure what this sub hates Dysons so much. I’ve had an upright for 15 years now and have never had an issue. And I’ve had a Dyson stick vacuum for 5 years and no issues.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I’ve had a Dyson upright for going on 15 years now and have never had an issue. I’ve also had one of their stick vacuums for about 5 years and again, no issues. 🤷🏻♂️
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Dyson corded upright, if you’re patient you can buy used and save a bundle. You’ll want to add a floorbrush for the hardwood floors. I have both older model canister and upright Dyson vacs. The canister is better built, but the upright is more versatile and cleans carpets better. It also stores better but is more finicky to use the attachments. It’s designed to be lighter weight which also means it’s is more fragile, take care of them and they’ll last! If you really prefer a canister you’ll want a motorhead, but the extra weight in the floor wand makes it more work to vacuum hardwood floors.
r/dyson • What is the best vacuum for carpeted floors? ->I have two older Dyson corded vacuums. My canister is a tank, had it for atleast 15 years now. Have torn down the canister a few times for a deep clean. Also bought an upright used, it’s a little more finicky and fragile feeling but also a good vacuum with proper maintenance.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Our old Dyson upright was absolutely useless on the Christmas Tree needles. They essentially fell out again after being hoovered up. Hence why I'm so interested in this thread!
r/HENRYUKLifestyle • Vacuum cleaner recommendations ->I pull both Mieles and Dysons out of the trash. These days I only grab the cordless Dyso9ns, but in the past have done the upright models. They are usually work after cleaning up. Maybe half the cordless examples I get need a new battery.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I also hate my Dyson animal. Like you said, it stinks like dog no matter how much you clean and replace the filter and is so hard to maneuver. I also feel like the suction isn’t that strong. I definitely plan on getting something else soon!!
r/germanshepherds • Vacuum recommendations ->This subreddit had me all scared about buying a Dyson Animal vacuum. It’s fine, guys. It’s a perfectly good vacuum. I also have a stick, wanted more power, and guess what? It’s fine!
r/VacuumCleaners • Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people. ->Dyson Animal , once a day.( we have two GSDs) and Roomba supplements mid day.
r/germanshepherds • Best vacuum ->I've always had a great experience with my Dyson. It's one of the Animal vacs, and never fails to tackle my husky hair, and cleaning it out has always been a breeze. Only one part really needs to be replaced, because of an unfortunate tumble down the stairs that broke the latch portion that pops open the bottom of the canister, but I've been opening it manually for a year now. I guess I'm fortunate based on what other reviewers have experienced, but I've certainly got my almost 10 years out of it. I'd love to get a Miele in the future, and really I'm just torture testing this Dyson. It's already survived 7 cross country moves in my truckbed without a tarp, a couple times in the rain. I wouldn't absolutely not do that to a Miele though hahah!
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->We have a Dyson Animal, works great!
r/torties • Vaccume cleaner suggestions SPECIFICALLY for pet hair? ->Our Dyson animal is awesome, it’s easy to maintain and has crazy strong suction
r/VacuumCleaners • 14 cats and 2 dogs needs great vacuum/carpet cleaner ->Animal Dyson every fortnight and a roborock every single day. Serves us well. I wouldn’t buy a Dyson again though. Bissell next time - half the price, twice the innovation. Though they are American…
r/samoyeds • Ok fellow Samoyed owners, what vacuum do you use? ->I loved my animal Dyson. It did catch fire though prolly from the “hidden filters” never being changed. I bought a shark after that and it was great for carpet, it actually pulled your arm forwards and “sucked” to the carpet. Moved to a place with all hardwood floor/laminate kitchen, bathroom and the shark just pushed the dirt forwards. Now we sweep….no vacuums here lol
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->Miele C3 for life gang! I previously had a Dyson Animal for almost a decade and the improvement was shocking to me. Of course, there had likely been enhancements to the DAs in the meantime.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->We have a Dyson Animal and a Shark Canister style vacuum. We prefer the Shark. Suction is just as good as the Dyson and it’s infinitely more user friendly as far as the attachments and hose cleaning goes. Plus smaller head fits more places like under the bed. The Shark is just a better design.
r/homeowners • Best house vacuum ->^This. We had a Dyson Animal and were continually having to take it apart and cut fur from the roller. Haven’t had to do nearly as much with the Miele.
r/samoyeds • Ok fellow Samoyed owners, what vacuum do you use? ->Had my Dyson animal for 9 years and it's awesome. No issues but I do look after it.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->Sebo. It’s the new Electrolux. I went from electrolux (40 years of service, inherited from my mom) which was amazing, to a Miele (20 years of service, inherited from step mom) to a Dyson Animal. The Dyson lasted 12 years before I got sick of it. I bought a Sebo! I’m 58 and I won’t need another vacuum before I die.
r/homeowners • Best (cost/performance) vacuum cleaner? ->I had a Dyson Animal and hated it. One, the ball makes it difficult to get under furniture. Next, the extension hose is not user friendly and hard to use in tight places. Then, I got tired of emptying the canister every time. Finally, the filters pick up the dander smell and need regular cleaning and replacing. We currently use an Orexk xl. Love it. It use an easy to change bag. I replace it about 1x per month and toss, so no lingering dander smell. Also bought the smaller should vac to use to get under furniture, nooks a cranies. Carry it on the should makes it easy to use.
r/germanshepherds • Vacuum recommendations ->I’ve had my Dyson animal for years & it’s a workhorse. Absolutely swear by it
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->We tried Hoover, Dyson animal, and shark. The shark is 1/3 the price of the Dyson and does nearly as good a job. Search Google and Amazon for refurbished, same warranty and half the msrp price
r/germanshepherds • Vacuum Cleaner Recommendations ->For the price, it makes sense to what's usually recommended here. The other I was looking at is 4 times the cost and heavier! I haven't decided yet, but my trusty old Dyson animal finally died and the repair failed, I really hope OP is steering me in the right direction. My poor Dyson. New ones are awful compared, the only thing I like about my cordless $500 Dyson is that it doesn't get stuck on rugs. I need the cord back!!!!
r/VacuumCleaners • Bought a Shark and it’s incredible!! ->I spent about two years dithering and then a month researching and got a Miele C3 to replace my falling-apart and LOUD Dyson Animal. It was a good choice. Quiet and no dust. I did remove all the carpeting in my house, but still need to vacuum up the cat tumbleweed under the bed and sofa, as well as the “welcome” mats inside the house where I leave my outdoor shoes.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I have had good luck with Dyson and Shark brands. Both in “pet” models, I’m sorry I don’t know more specific models. I personally don’t notice much of a difference in the performance so I stick with Shark since it’s cheaper and in my opinion the hose and attachments are easier to use.
r/samoyeds • Best vacuum for fur? ->I love my Rainbow vacuum and my purple pet dyson.
r/GuiltyDogs • Any vacuum cleaner recommendations? 👹 ->The purple Dyson for pets. We love it and have used it for 4 years now. We have had 3 Rottweilers, 2 Shimas, and 1 Golden, as well as 2 medium hair cats.
r/Dogowners • Vacuum Cleaner Recs for Dog Household ->Yeah I’ve a Powerblade for my kitchen/ hard floors downstairs. It’s cordless and light but useless on my carpets. I’ve the Dyson pet one for those and I find it not too clunky even on the stairs, especially as it has so many little attachments. I like it. As for mops, I like my Shark one. No fannying around with detergent, just throw some bleach or whatever you use on the floor and go. It separates into a handheld steamer too.
r/AskIreland • What vacuum cleaners do people recommend? ->Yeah battery is not the best, however it worked really well when it was new (like most things do). Our main vacuum is the Dyson animal+, that thing is a beast and has been working great for the past 7 years. Handheld gets used to clean cars or just pick up quick messes.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I found myself purchasing a new vacuum about every 2 years. Then I purchased a Dyson pet , and it was great. Had a 5-year warranty, and promptly lost suction at the 6-year mark. It was the best vacuum for the almost 6 years I had it. Now I have a Shark, an apartment vacuum because it is mostly for bare floors, but the cord is short. Have had it for 2 years now. I would take advice of the professional cleaner - the porta-vac.
r/CleaningTips • What is the Best Vacuum ->There’s no single vac that does it all except for maybe a super heavy super expensive traditional canister like a Miele. For an everyday hard floor vac (and light carpet vac) the best is Levoit on Amazon that's about $200. It's a Dyson-like machine that overcomes a lot of the longtime design issues with Dysons (such as, it can stand up by itself -- what a concept). But we also keep the Dyson around for a more aggressive carpet vac when we need it. We also have a Eureka boss -- powerful and dependable small canister vac. And a monster shop vac in the basement. Dysons are great but they're really expensive and their air filtering system is overly complicated and tends to lose efficiency. If you own a Dyson, watch all the available Youtubes on how to clean it with pressurized air so you can keep it running. Given the competition from newer manufacturers like Levoit, I think it's going to be harder for Dyson to justify selling floor vacs for close to $1000.
r/homeowners • Best (cost/performance) vacuum cleaner? ->I just asked about how often I’d be buying bags for a sebo with two high shedding large dogs, (similar probably too a gsd and 3 (if long hair cats) I would probably be replacing the bag every week. (Actually more than that because I didn’t tell people I also have 3 cats haha) Someone with a husky commented that they replace the bag 1.5-2 times a month. Calculating that cost for two dogs is another 210 a year in bags (probably more for me) I am taking that into account with replacing a vacuum that died (Dyson) but it doesn’t have a bag or a Sebo that has a 10 year warranty but I will have probably bought 2-3 dysons in that time period with the amount I’d be spending on bags. I haven’t decided yet 🙃 but thought I’d share the numbers.
