The Dyson Big Ball Turbine Head would work well. It’s on sale at the Dyson website for $199. I realize that this community loves to hate on Dyson however given the budget of the OP this would be worth considering. It would work well for pet hair and a good hardwood floor tool would make it even better. The OP is not asking about high end Sebo or Miele type of machines. r/VacuumCleaners • Best vacuum for insane amounts of dog hair? ->I'm not a Dyson fanboy by any stretch...but... my partner and I got a fire sale of a deal on a Dyson Big Ball Animal corded canister about 6 years ago (I can't remember if it was JB Hi-Fi or Farmer's) and it's been a great vacuum. I wouldn't get one full price as what they ask for them is ridiculous, but, if you can get one at a steep enough discount, I reckon they're pretty good.
r/newzealand • Briscoes sale - vacuum cleaner recommendations please!! ->Our Dyson pull type canister vacuum is 15 + years old and has survived through 4 dogs. Spent a little under a thousand.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->We've had our Dyson V8 for almost 6 years and it still works amazingly. We've had our Dyson big ball vacuum for 8 years and it still works amazingly. Say what you want about Dyson products but we've only had good experiences.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I did, best decision for wife happiness in a while next to the speed queen washer/dryer. I had Dyson big ball vacuums for the decade prior and they are hot garbage after 6-12 months of use. You have to tear apart the canister to clean the caked on dust and dried skin out of it for it to not smell like a moldy foot every time you turn it on. Oh, and the Hepa filter is a royal pain to change on the newer big ball models and if you don't change it (dyson doesn't tell you you need to every 6-12 months) it burns up the motor. The Meile C3 is a bagged vacuum that only has a hose that can cake up with that junk and that's unlikely. If it starts stinking, you change the bag and you have a new vacuum again. I'd rather spend $1,400 once (theoretically for 15+ years) and $80/year in bags than spending $300-500 every two years on a new crappy vacuum.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Dyson, we’ve had the yellow ball vacuum for close to or a little over 20 years now. Still going strong, the suction hasn’t diminished whatsoever. The only downside is not being able to find replacements parts, primarily for the main brush. It was because of the vacuum that I felt comfortable giving their other products (air purifier) a try. Didn’t regret that purchase, thought I ended up selling due to a move. Nevertheless, I’ll be going for Dyson again when this vacuum finally decides to give out.
r/BuyItForLife • Best vacuum cleaner? ->I’m sorry, the cordless Dyson isn’t that great for carpet/rugs so I wouldn’t rank it that high. The attachments are excellent for their specific uses like couch/mattress, the nozzle for corners but I have the old school Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner and it’s sooo much better for rugs. Vacuum’s with cords for the win!
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I've never had a miele, but i certainly don't buy dyson because it's convenient. They're expensive as hell. I buy dyson because they work reliably for years. I replace the filters every year or two, and otherwise i just don't even think about them. I have a handheld and a plug in dyson, and they have seriously won me over. There's lots of options that are similar on the market, but i've never found any other vacuum that works that well
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->There’s no single vac that does it all except for maybe a super heavy super expensive traditional canister like a Miele. For an everyday hard floor vac (and light carpet vac) the best is Levoit on Amazon that's about $200. It's a Dyson-like machine that overcomes a lot of the longtime design issues with Dysons (such as, it can stand up by itself -- what a concept). But we also keep the Dyson around for a more aggressive carpet vac when we need it. We also have a Eureka boss -- powerful and dependable small canister vac. And a monster shop vac in the basement. Dysons are great but they're really expensive and their air filtering system is overly complicated and tends to lose efficiency. If you own a Dyson, watch all the available Youtubes on how to clean it with pressurized air so you can keep it running. Given the competition from newer manufacturers like Levoit, I think it's going to be harder for Dyson to justify selling floor vacs for close to $1000.
r/homeowners • Best (cost/performance) vacuum cleaner? ->I just asked about how often I’d be buying bags for a sebo with two high shedding large dogs, (similar probably too a gsd and 3 (if long hair cats) I would probably be replacing the bag every week. (Actually more than that because I didn’t tell people I also have 3 cats haha) Someone with a husky commented that they replace the bag 1.5-2 times a month. Calculating that cost for two dogs is another 210 a year in bags (probably more for me) I am taking that into account with replacing a vacuum that died (Dyson) but it doesn’t have a bag or a Sebo that has a 10 year warranty but I will have probably bought 2-3 dysons in that time period with the amount I’d be spending on bags. I haven’t decided yet 🙃 but thought I’d share the numbers.
