I bought the original Dyson Dc01 back in 1993, it still works well. Since then we’ve had a couple of their light plastic models and they’ve been a complete waste of money. My Xiaomi S20+ is brilliant though

I was about to say why all the Dyson hate as I had a DC01 and it was amazing. Had it for a similar amount of time and replaced bits as everything was screwed together and you could buy parts. Lost the hoover in a divorce and haven’t had one since. Shame to hear they’re shite now.

Very hard agree. I had a DC01 - it was fantastic, and lasted for over 20 years having various bits replaced. After the motor finally seized, I bought a new model, and it was utterly shite. The filter-cleaning required, alone, was enough to make me hate it. Ended up giving it away and buying a Vax upright for £50 in a factory clearance.

Dyson, it’s a larger up front cost but I still had one of the old school yellow ones and it’s 20 years old and still going strong. I also have one of their stick vacuums and its awesome abs had that about 6 years now.

Could be a case of they don't build them like they used to. Bought the original entry level yellow Dyson back in the day. Ran good for about a decade. The beater stopped working and we gave it away. Replaced with a Kirby. Bought a V8 Animal stick vacuum when they first came out and the battery died about 2 years ago. Got a kit from Amazon to convert it to my DeWalt tool batteries. Runs great. Recently the door for the waste broke a clip. Now we just tape it up. Not sure what I will replace it with.

I have a yellow upright Dyson that I’ve had for many years and it works perfectly still, I’ve had to change the belt 2-3 times, other than that it’s still fantastic. I have a v6 animal and the battery health died after a few years of very light use. I might give them one more try on a cordless or just replace the battery on the v6.

My boyfriend gave me his old Dyson vac with the yellow ball and I've had it over 5yrs and it was old when I got it and it's still great. Super suction. Best vac I've ever used. All these comments surprised me. I had no idea everyone thought it was a shit product

We bought a Dyson 26 years ago when we got our first two Pyrs. We still have the Dyson and we still have two Pyrs. It’s worked like a dream with regular maintenance of course.

It’s yellow, I’m not sure the specific model. Our definitely has a cord. We got it right around the time Dyson came out with the purple (pet hair) model. We do take great care of this vacuum, we’ve replaced some parts and it’s really holding up well through 8 Pyrs and 2 Leonbergers. :) In fact, we just bought an off-brand extension hose for it.

I confess my first pet Dyson was awesome (pre ball) #1 with suction and ease of attachments. After 9 strong years of use I decided to "upgrade". The second pet Dyson wasn't amazing, I didn't like the ball or how I had to remove items to get to the hose attachments etc, BUT it did great on carpets and tiled floors. After 4 years of use, it was destroyed by diatomaceous earth (lessons learned, it goes through the filter and builds up in the motor). I decided to go a different route with 2 different branded vacuums, stick style and push. Over the past two years with pet hair everywhere, they were ok but even cleaning filters they started to smell. This past Dec we decided to go again with Dyson and it's amazing how much it pulls up and gets all the hair and tracked dirts (we are in dusty NM). Still don't like some of the ball features but I am really glad to have one back in the house. My 2 cents.
