I think you should take your wife to a vacuum shop and see if she can try some vacuums. Maybe she will end up liking a bagged vacuum. I'm telling you tho the bagless ones have been crap. The Dyson one I've been using which I thought was good was crap. I will never go back to bagless.
Had my Dyson bagless for about 8 years and like it. I replaced the battery off Amazon for cheap otherwise suction and functionality great. No idea why Reddit hates Dyson so much, been happy with mine.
Disclaimer: I’m just a guy that vacuums his house not an industry insider in the vacuum world. Totally fair. What I don’t understand is that everytime one of these threads pops up someone makes your comment but then dozens of Dyson owners pop up and recommend them. Look at this thread, there’s like a dozen Dyson recs but the top comment is “Dyson is junk”. Most independent review sites have Dyson as a solid vacuum, if a bit overpriced. Reddit constantly describes them as “trash”. Everyone also hates cordless and baglessWe have both and I’d say use the cordless/bagless stick 95% of the time and I’m not sure why they are so hated. I also have no idea what people are doing to their bagless vacuums that make them require lengthy and frequent cleaning - I empty mine and wipe it out when it needs to be. That’s it.
Dyson’s bagless models are pretty decent and the attachments cover a lot of bases. Shark is a more budget friendly but less durable manufacturer, but still quality for the buck.
I'll be honest I had the bagless Miele and it kinda sucked (in that it didn't suck!), my bagless Dyson is much better. If I were to get another canister Miele it'd have to be bagged.
Probably an old school bagged Kirby, the ones made out of metal. We use a bagged Miele C1 turbo and it works very well but still have to clean the head after each time and the aftermarket bags don't work. Pretty much have to change the bag every time so its $4-5/vacuum session. The bagless Dysons, Sharks etc. are complete utter garbage. The first few times they'll seem like they are working but after a bit you'll see that bagless for pets is a disaster. All the dander and hair just gets trapped everywhere in them and you end up just pushing that stuff around instead of actually cleaning.
You want a bagged vacuum. I've had a Dyson, a Bissell, a Dyson knock off, the LG A9, the Miele Duoflex - all bagless and all very loud. My cats will scatter if I turn them on. My bagged Miele on the other hand... they don't even bother getting up from their naps.
Henry. Used a couple of dysons/bag less after they’d been retired for an upgrade in the house vac. Polyfilla dust, brick dust just kills them eventually.
my Dyson filter you just rinse and swap out. I like how easy it’s to pull apart and wash
Mine is way older than 5 years. Still manages to try and eat socks with alarming accuracy. I only had to change the battery out. I give her a blast of air and a good wash every few months and she’s running great. she deals with sand on a regular basis and cat and dog fur.
you can get third part add ons that let you use big drill batteries
honestally the third party battery add ons give you so much more, even swapping the battery out for a bigger one gives more juice
I got third party battery add on. I do bottom house, charge then upstairs. got third party filters so I can change and wash each time
