Not sure I can agree on the customer service part, I recently purchased some other Dyson products and then had a hell of a time trying to return them. However, I can agree on the strength of the Dysons. We have a 15-year-old 19 animal (still going strong) and we have just purchased a new cordless G5 detect. The power on this thing is ridiculous and it’s pulling up all sorts from the depth of the carpet. The runtime is fine and more than we need. The laser is amazing on hard floors, a real game changer.

Wow interesting. We had our Dyson Animal first generation for 15 years with two cats and two dogs. When it broke we bought the next generation one. Fingers crossed it lasts as long.

Rainbow (water based) is a tank. My parents got it in 1980’s and my sister took it when my parents passed away. Still works perfectly. Had to replace the motor once back in 1990. We have a Dyson DC9 canister from 2004 and it’s still going. I had to glue together a crack that formed in the handle.

Not cordless, but I've had my Dyson Animal Canister for 15 years and it still works amazing. I'm desperate to go to corded but this thing has been too good... Curious to know if their cordless are the same.

Plug in Dyson Animal that's got to be at least 15 years old. Just keeps on suckin'! Had to replace the hose on it last year, but that's it. We have three cats, a golden, and I shed a fair bit as well. We have hardwood, tile, and rugs. I like that it just seamlessly goes from one to the other.

100% It was tough to justify the new price, but no regrets now. It's such an odd vacuum in that it feels so... rickety? It always feels like it should fall apart, yet refuses to die. Still pulls animal hair out of carpet like nothing else. I see mint condition ones on the local classifieds for $100 all the time. If ours died, I'd replace it with the same one without a second thought.

I have a very old corded Dyson Animal, probably from 2010ish. It still works pretty well. I love the ball, it just made things so much easier to maneuver. Of course I am sure all of the new vacuums have something similar now so that probably isn’t a deciding factor.

Maybe a battery powered canister style vacuum. I still have a Dyson canister vacuum that is great but I never use it because I hate having to plug and unplug it.

I actually think I used the wrong term. I just meant the regular style vacuum. But I think after a quick Google that's called an upright style. The canister seems to be like the old rainbow my grandmother had. I agree I wouldn't want that. But like a regular old standing vacuum that worked on an ego battery so you didn't need to plug and unplug it to move around the house would be great.
