My Dyson DC23 was purchased in 2009 and shows no sign of stopping. Sucks just as hard in 2025 as it did in 2009. I think I paid $450 for it which seemed a lot at the time but 15 years later I don't see a need to buy another vacuum for the foreseeable future.
r/CleaningTips • Are Dyson vacuums worth it? ->Wow our Dyson Dc23 just died....14 yrs....not really great? I did all the vacuuming...not so delicate with any machine. I can only hope to find the same longevity with whatever we buy next.
r/VacuumCleaners • Vacuum Recs Under $300, Shark? Dyson? Others? ->I had an OG Dyson canister that we bought 20 years ago... and the plastics they used were super brittle then just like now. We got 10 years out of it... BUT we had to replace multiple parts and it was held together with epoxy and fiberglass patch kit tape all over. It was a mess. By comparison we have a Miele canister now that is 10 years old and is perfect.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Maybe a battery powered canister style vacuum. I still have a Dyson canister vacuum that is great but I never use it because I hate having to plug and unplug it.
r/egopowerplus • I'd love to see an Ego Vacuum cleaner ->I actually think I used the wrong term. I just meant the regular style vacuum. But I think after a quick Google that's called an upright style. The canister seems to be like the old rainbow my grandmother had. I agree I wouldn't want that. But like a regular old standing vacuum that worked on an ego battery so you didn't need to plug and unplug it to move around the house would be great.
r/egopowerplus • I'd love to see an Ego Vacuum cleaner ->Dyson canisters are designed to sit on stairs. https://www.vacuumwizard.com/vw-content/uploads/2015/10/dyson-dc23-stairs.jpg With an upright for stairs I would just be using it normally not trying to use the hose with an attachment of any kind.
r/housekeeping • What vacuum do you use on carpeted stairs? I’m tired of balancing my vacuum on each step while using the attachments. One day I’m going to break my neck. Are handheld vacuums with brush rollers any good? ->Shark! I’ve had Bissell, Dyson, and Shark. The Bissell I had was an early bagless model, and it was an absolute pain to empty out. I replaced it with a Dyson canister that the sales guy at Bed Bath and Beyond sold me on. I discovered those were a PITA when you have stairs, so I replaced it with a Shark this year. The Shark is easy to empty out and has crazy suction. I’m moving out of the townhome I rented for the past year before buying my house, and even though I haven’t lived in the townhouse in over a month, the Shark keeps pulling up dust and cat hair.
r/homeowners • Best house vacuum ->I have. rechargeable Bissel Crosswave that handles 80% of the vacuuming needed for daily stuff, and mops floors too. Once a week on average I will do a deep clean with my dyson canister vac.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->I bought two dysons thinking they were the best. Canister vacuum motor burnt out right after the two year warranty. Stick vacuum battery died, which was fine to replace but still annoying. We’ve been limping along with just the stick vacuum for two years now brutal!
r/VacuumCleaners • Never ever buy a Dyson vac. ->Our Dyson pull type canister vacuum is 15 + years old and has survived through 4 dogs. Spent a little under a thousand.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I confess my first pet Dyson was awesome (pre ball) #1 with suction and ease of attachments. After 9 strong years of use I decided to "upgrade". The second pet Dyson wasn't amazing, I didn't like the ball or how I had to remove items to get to the hose attachments etc, BUT it did great on carpets and tiled floors. After 4 years of use, it was destroyed by diatomaceous earth (lessons learned, it goes through the filter and builds up in the motor). I decided to go a different route with 2 different branded vacuums, stick style and push. Over the past two years with pet hair everywhere, they were ok but even cleaning filters they started to smell. This past Dec we decided to go again with Dyson and it's amazing how much it pulls up and gets all the hair and tracked dirts (we are in dusty NM). Still don't like some of the ball features but I am really glad to have one back in the house. My 2 cents.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->Buy a Ryobi with an extra battery. Mine works better than my $600+ Samsung cordless. I have a 6000+ sq ft house and it does half on one battery. With both batteries I can finish and vacuum several sofas. I still use a plug in Dyson for deep cleaning but the a daily vacuum, it rocks.
r/CleaningTips • Vacuuming my house every day has changed my life ! 💝 ->I've never had a miele, but i certainly don't buy dyson because it's convenient. They're expensive as hell. I buy dyson because they work reliably for years. I replace the filters every year or two, and otherwise i just don't even think about them. I have a handheld and a plug in dyson, and they have seriously won me over. There's lots of options that are similar on the market, but i've never found any other vacuum that works that well
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I hate my cordless vacuum. I always had a mains power Dyson. I could pick up a brick with it! I loved it. Carpets looked and felt clean. Now I live somewhere where I have to use cordless to keep my power draw low. I have a good make, I bought it new but it’s useless. It won’t clean the cabin on a single charge. It lasts about 5 minutes on full power, 20 minutes on medium and on low power Id be better off laying on the floor and sucking through a straw. It seems to spit as much debris out the back of it as it picks up even though the filter is clean which means I have to wait hours to repeat the process to have the place look clean. I have dogs and they walk it lots of grit. It won’t even contemplate sucking up grit. It just shoots right out the back. So frustrating.
r/VacuumCleaners • Are cordless vacuums really useless at picking up dust and dog hair? ->Numatic Henry! Wat een topding! We hebben ook zo’n trendy Dyson stofzuiger, maar dat is gewoon best irritant
r/Nederland • Welke stofzuiger raden jullie aan? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
