I cant give you a recommendation but can tell you what NOT to get. Don't get a Dyson. I've stupidly gotten 3. 2 cordless animals and they've been terrible. Our 2nd just died after maybe 2 years and during thst time, all it did was get clogged, sputter, and push hair around. It wouldnt ever suck it up. Its actually astounding. Out of pure stupidity, we bought them multiple times, partly because we bought one of their original first Gen cordless, so we excused its poorness. Now, we bought a new one many years later. Just the same, better battery power. If you find a good cordless vacuum let me know. We too are now in the market, AGAIN.

Of course not. They are the most overrated, overpriced, poorly made vacuums of all time imo. Ive bought 2 of them, they both died in 18mo and probably worked halfway decent for 5. First one was a corded one, 2nd was cordless animal.

I have a hand me down Dyson handheld dc35 from 2014 that’s still going strong (knock off batteries though) and a super old dc31 that still works despite someone using it to clean up a home renovation project. I also have the v15 which we love. We got the hand me downs after we got the v15 and I’m surprised at how well they still perform. I will never go back to an upright vacuum again unless it’s a Dyson. Edit: turns out I got the wrong version #s for the older 2 units. Either way they've all lasted me a ridiculous amount of time despite the abuse.

I have a Dyson hand held. Bought it on sale and I love it. I use it in the house and also the car.

Ahh, the car environment. I've used uprights, canisters and handhelds on my cars over the years, and it seems like none is ideal. But I found something that works for me at least. It's the idea of bringing a vacuum hose into the car and using several different attachments as needed, including a turbo brush tool for the floor mats. A canister has the longest hose, and it's not collapsable. Put a dust tool or a crevice tool on the end of a hose and I can reach to the other side of the interior, or most of it. The dash, the seats, the console, etc. I prefer this over my $500 Dyson handheld. YMMV.

People love to hate on it these days but my Dyson has been going for 10 years now. I did make an upgrade with a $25 adapter so I can use my Dewalt tool batteries. It runs for hours on a 6Ah battery lol

I have the Dyson hand held, the battery capacity drove me nuts. So I bought the 18v battery adapter, so now I use my Makita battery and can easily do the whole flat.

so, i had a dyson handheld too, but honestly, it just didn’t cut it for the cat hair. you might wanna check out the [shark navigator lift-away](https://oklookup.com/review/shark-navigator-lift-away-vacuum-cleaner/). it’s super user-friendly and comes with this cool pet power brush that works wonders on both hardwood and carpets. like, i’ve had mine for a year, and it picks up hair like a champ. downside? it can be a bit heavy if you're lugging it around. but for your place, it should be solid. as for cleaning hairballs, maybe try a lint roller first? it's kinda messy but works. renting a shop vac sounds overkill honestly.
