I have a Dyson hand held. Bought it on sale and I love it. I use it in the house and also the car.
Ahh, the car environment. I've used uprights, canisters and handhelds on my cars over the years, and it seems like none is ideal. But I found something that works for me at least. It's the idea of bringing a vacuum hose into the car and using several different attachments as needed, including a turbo brush tool for the floor mats. A canister has the longest hose, and it's not collapsable. Put a dust tool or a crevice tool on the end of a hose and I can reach to the other side of the interior, or most of it. The dash, the seats, the console, etc. I prefer this over my $500 Dyson handheld. YMMV.
What a patootie!! Dyson hand held
People love to hate on it these days but my Dyson has been going for 10 years now. I did make an upgrade with a $25 adapter so I can use my Dewalt tool batteries. It runs for hours on a 6Ah battery lol
Nothing wrong with using a shop vac as a regular vaccuum cleaner. it gets the job done. I think they are just designed to work in dirty messy shops, so they are bigger, and maybe don't have as good dust filters on them. When indoors, you want to avoid blowing dust and allergens all over the place by using a vaccuum with a hepatitis filter. You can use a regular vaccuum with hos attachments to suck up cobwebs and clean fan blades and stuff. Yes, we have two vaccuums. actually 3, but who's counting? A Dyson cordless handheld. and a Dyson canister vaccuum. We like having one on each level. I HATE dragging that thing up the stairs.
I have the Dyson hand held, the battery capacity drove me nuts. So I bought the 18v battery adapter, so now I use my Makita battery and can easily do the whole flat.
so, i had a dyson handheld too, but honestly, it just didn’t cut it for the cat hair. you might wanna check out the [shark navigator lift-away](https://oklookup.com/review/shark-navigator-lift-away-vacuum-cleaner/). it’s super user-friendly and comes with this cool pet power brush that works wonders on both hardwood and carpets. like, i’ve had mine for a year, and it picks up hair like a champ. downside? it can be a bit heavy if you're lugging it around. but for your place, it should be solid. as for cleaning hairballs, maybe try a lint roller first? it's kinda messy but works. renting a shop vac sounds overkill honestly.
I agree with this advice. I have the same setup as well, where I have one wired vacuum (a Karcher) for deep cleans and the other a handheld Dyson for quick cleans.
