I bought a Dyson DC32 "animal pro" corded model back in 2011 that had to cope with masses of Husky mix floof and did so without a hiccup for more than a decade. No complaints about at least the older Dyson models here.
r/husky • Best vacuum for husky owners? ->Well, it depends on build quality. The DC32 was still in the era of Dyson where they made things with really thick plastics and quite strong motors. I don't know which Thomas you bought, but cheap vacuums are cheap vacuums regardless of age, and the Dyson was a premium cleaner in its day. I wouldn't call Dyson "built to last", but you can do much worse than a DC32.
r/VacuumCleaners • Why does my 17 year old Dyson dc32 work better than my Newer Thomas one? ->Maybe a battery powered canister style vacuum. I still have a Dyson canister vacuum that is great but I never use it because I hate having to plug and unplug it.
r/egopowerplus • I'd love to see an Ego Vacuum cleaner ->I actually think I used the wrong term. I just meant the regular style vacuum. But I think after a quick Google that's called an upright style. The canister seems to be like the old rainbow my grandmother had. I agree I wouldn't want that. But like a regular old standing vacuum that worked on an ego battery so you didn't need to plug and unplug it to move around the house would be great.
r/egopowerplus • I'd love to see an Ego Vacuum cleaner ->Nothing wrong with using a shop vac as a regular vaccuum cleaner. it gets the job done. I think they are just designed to work in dirty messy shops, so they are bigger, and maybe don't have as good dust filters on them. When indoors, you want to avoid blowing dust and allergens all over the place by using a vaccuum with a hepatitis filter. You can use a regular vaccuum with hos attachments to suck up cobwebs and clean fan blades and stuff. Yes, we have two vaccuums. actually 3, but who's counting? A Dyson cordless handheld. and a Dyson canister vaccuum. We like having one on each level. I HATE dragging that thing up the stairs.
r/homeowners • Can shop vac be used for indoor cleaning? If not what are its other uses? ->Dyson canisters are designed to sit on stairs. https://www.vacuumwizard.com/vw-content/uploads/2015/10/dyson-dc23-stairs.jpg With an upright for stairs I would just be using it normally not trying to use the hose with an attachment of any kind.
r/housekeeping • What vacuum do you use on carpeted stairs? I’m tired of balancing my vacuum on each step while using the attachments. One day I’m going to break my neck. Are handheld vacuums with brush rollers any good? ->Shark! I’ve had Bissell, Dyson, and Shark. The Bissell I had was an early bagless model, and it was an absolute pain to empty out. I replaced it with a Dyson canister that the sales guy at Bed Bath and Beyond sold me on. I discovered those were a PITA when you have stairs, so I replaced it with a Shark this year. The Shark is easy to empty out and has crazy suction. I’m moving out of the townhome I rented for the past year before buying my house, and even though I haven’t lived in the townhouse in over a month, the Shark keeps pulling up dust and cat hair.
r/homeowners • Best house vacuum ->I have. rechargeable Bissel Crosswave that handles 80% of the vacuuming needed for daily stuff, and mops floors too. Once a week on average I will do a deep clean with my dyson canister vac.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->I bought two dysons thinking they were the best. Canister vacuum motor burnt out right after the two year warranty. Stick vacuum battery died, which was fine to replace but still annoying. We’ve been limping along with just the stick vacuum for two years now brutal!
r/VacuumCleaners • Never ever buy a Dyson vac. ->Same, I've got a 10+years old DC32 Dyson Animal, and it still works great.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->I confess my first pet Dyson was awesome (pre ball) #1 with suction and ease of attachments. After 9 strong years of use I decided to "upgrade". The second pet Dyson wasn't amazing, I didn't like the ball or how I had to remove items to get to the hose attachments etc, BUT it did great on carpets and tiled floors. After 4 years of use, it was destroyed by diatomaceous earth (lessons learned, it goes through the filter and builds up in the motor). I decided to go a different route with 2 different branded vacuums, stick style and push. Over the past two years with pet hair everywhere, they were ok but even cleaning filters they started to smell. This past Dec we decided to go again with Dyson and it's amazing how much it pulls up and gets all the hair and tracked dirts (we are in dusty NM). Still don't like some of the ball features but I am really glad to have one back in the house. My 2 cents.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->Buy a Ryobi with an extra battery. Mine works better than my $600+ Samsung cordless. I have a 6000+ sq ft house and it does half on one battery. With both batteries I can finish and vacuum several sofas. I still use a plug in Dyson for deep cleaning but the a daily vacuum, it rocks.
r/CleaningTips • Vacuuming my house every day has changed my life ! 💝 ->I've never had a miele, but i certainly don't buy dyson because it's convenient. They're expensive as hell. I buy dyson because they work reliably for years. I replace the filters every year or two, and otherwise i just don't even think about them. I have a handheld and a plug in dyson, and they have seriously won me over. There's lots of options that are similar on the market, but i've never found any other vacuum that works that well
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I hate my cordless vacuum. I always had a mains power Dyson. I could pick up a brick with it! I loved it. Carpets looked and felt clean. Now I live somewhere where I have to use cordless to keep my power draw low. I have a good make, I bought it new but it’s useless. It won’t clean the cabin on a single charge. It lasts about 5 minutes on full power, 20 minutes on medium and on low power Id be better off laying on the floor and sucking through a straw. It seems to spit as much debris out the back of it as it picks up even though the filter is clean which means I have to wait hours to repeat the process to have the place look clean. I have dogs and they walk it lots of grit. It won’t even contemplate sucking up grit. It just shoots right out the back. So frustrating.
r/VacuumCleaners • Are cordless vacuums really useless at picking up dust and dog hair? ->Got a husky, I use the Samsung jet cordless. It works well but no cordless will ever match a plug in. My dyson plug in vacuum will fill up after I already vacuumed my carpet. But for non carpeted areas its wonderfull. It even has a pet hair tool for my couch and car.
r/HomeImprovement • Small apartment + pet hair, is a cordless vacuum actually worth it or should I stick to a regular one? ->I call my Dyson an electric broom. Great for light cleaning but I count on my Rainbow to do the heavy lifting.
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->You want a bagged vacuum. I've had a Dyson, a Bissell, a Dyson knock off, the LG A9, the Miele Duoflex - all bagless and all very loud. My cats will scatter if I turn them on. My bagged Miele on the other hand... they don't even bother getting up from their naps.
r/VacuumCleaners • Quiet vacuums? ->I just asked about how often I’d be buying bags for a sebo with two high shedding large dogs, (similar probably too a gsd and 3 (if long hair cats) I would probably be replacing the bag every week. (Actually more than that because I didn’t tell people I also have 3 cats haha) Someone with a husky commented that they replace the bag 1.5-2 times a month. Calculating that cost for two dogs is another 210 a year in bags (probably more for me) I am taking that into account with replacing a vacuum that died (Dyson) but it doesn’t have a bag or a Sebo that has a 10 year warranty but I will have probably bought 2-3 dysons in that time period with the amount I’d be spending on bags. I haven’t decided yet 🙃 but thought I’d share the numbers.
r/VacuumCleaners • Need recommendations for a decent vacuum cleaner ->my Dyson filter you just rinse and swap out. I like how easy it’s to pull apart and wash
r/VacuumCleaners • Alternatives to Dyson ->Mine is way older than 5 years. Still manages to try and eat socks with alarming accuracy. I only had to change the battery out. I give her a blast of air and a good wash every few months and she’s running great. she deals with sand on a regular basis and cat and dog fur.
r/VacuumCleaners • Alternatives to Dyson ->you can get third part add ons that let you use big drill batteries
r/VacuumCleaners • Alternatives to Dyson ->honestally the third party battery add ons give you so much more, even swapping the battery out for a bigger one gives more juice
r/VacuumCleaners • Alternatives to Dyson ->I got third party battery add on. I do bottom house, charge then upstairs. got third party filters so I can change and wash each time
r/VacuumCleaners • Alternatives to Dyson ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
