I have a hand me down Dyson handheld dc35 from 2014 that’s still going strong (knock off batteries though) and a super old dc31 that still works despite someone using it to clean up a home renovation project. I also have the v15 which we love. We got the hand me downs after we got the v15 and I’m surprised at how well they still perform. I will never go back to an upright vacuum again unless it’s a Dyson. Edit: turns out I got the wrong version #s for the older 2 units. Either way they've all lasted me a ridiculous amount of time despite the abuse.

> I own 3 (oldest is around 15 years old) and they’re reliable, easy to maintain, and easy to repair. I've owned two DC35's, the OEM batteries were expensive, hard to source and went bad (very shortened life) way too quickly. The third party ones weren't any better. Maybe it's gotten better, this was over 10 years ago. I switched to a much cheaper Shark Duo that had an easy to swap battery with external charger that's performed as well as the Dyson did ever since.

Again it was over 10 years ago, and it's probably different now, but third party were not easy to find and the one I found performed as poorly or worse. My point was really that the Dyson cost 3x more and performed about the same as the Shark so "I swear you've over paid" was accurate in my experience.

Nothing wrong with using a shop vac as a regular vaccuum cleaner. it gets the job done. I think they are just designed to work in dirty messy shops, so they are bigger, and maybe don't have as good dust filters on them. When indoors, you want to avoid blowing dust and allergens all over the place by using a vaccuum with a hepatitis filter. You can use a regular vaccuum with hos attachments to suck up cobwebs and clean fan blades and stuff. Yes, we have two vaccuums. actually 3, but who's counting? A Dyson cordless handheld. and a Dyson canister vaccuum. We like having one on each level. I HATE dragging that thing up the stairs.

I bought used Miele older canister at local vacuum dealer. Owner didn’t want to talk about Dyson. I like Miele but not sure about canister vs upright. It’s quiet, & does a great job, & I will keep but still like the Dyson concept. I bought Dyson Animal 3 on sale last week. Also have Dyson cordless handheld & purifiers. I have original Dyson ball DC24, 15 years old too

I'm on my second Dyson Animal upright purchased in 2018. Still works great. I also have a Dyson stick vac and use it daily for touch ups. I love Dyson.

When the original Dysons hit the market, with their "cyclonic" design, they WERE a game-changer. And deserved their massive price premium. My old dyson is as battered as hell, and held together with duct tape, but still going strong. Then their patents expired, and/or others were able to get around them, and suddenly everyone was doing bagless/cyclonic... Dyson tried a few other things, like their weird bladeless fans, but nothing took. So they came out with their whole "our cordless vacs are so good, we stopped making traditional vacuum cleaners" spiel. It's a croc. We bought a new Dyson Stick Vac, on special for $700+, around a year ago... There's no question it's a brilliant piece of technology, but don't be fooled. * Firstly, there's a reason vacuums evolved to have the motor and barrel on the FLOOR. Putting the entire weight on your wrist, gets old, really fast. * It's very powerful, but nowhere near as powerful as my trusty old Dyson ball. * Battery life SUCKS. It has a "turbo" mode. Which is basically their way of saying, "use this if you actually want to vacuum, but be warned, any claims of battery life are voided." * If you live in a SMALL apartment. Or you want something to do a very light spritz daily, it's probably perfect. Don't get me wrong, comparing this to any older "portable vac" is like comparing a Ferrari to a horse & cart. But it is what it is. A brilliant light-duty cordless vac. Now, of course, many will weigh in and claim how they vacuum their entire mansion, 5 times a day, on a single charge. But it's just basic physics. Your average old Dyson ball vac is more powerful than all but the top of the line ($1,200+) stick vacs. A a 240v plug in vac will run indefinitely, a cordless vac has a finite battery-life.

Waarom niet? Wij hebben onze dyson al 8 jaar, met een hond thuis die heel het jaar door ruift. Nooit problemen mee gehad
