Recently learnt this.. had a DC44 sitting in the garage for a few years due to failed battery. Replaced (and upgraded) the battery and cleaned the motorised head - works like new

yeah i've had a look at the sebo and its just a bit more than i'm willing to spend. there is a sale on the sebo website for a green e3 for £449.52 so it is something. i've seen the miele c3 for £250 or the dog edition for £300 we had a henry but its gone kaput. we've got a dyson dc44 which we used for small spills but need something permanent. we've just had new carpets put in all through the house so the henry never really got used on the new carpets.

I’ve got a Dyson that I bought in like 2012. Maybe earlier. I do virtually no maintenance because I’m lazy. It’s still trucking along, no problem. Edited to add: it’s lived through my long hair, my sister’s long hair, and a Great Pyrenees.

I have had a refurbished V6 Animal since 2016. I used it daily until I bought a robovac two years ago and have used it twice a week since then. I have had parts die and need replacement but the body still works great and is plenty powerful for hard floors with short pile rugs. After my fluffy head died, though, and the normal head is on its last legs, I was debating buying new heads vs buying a refurbished V12 slim. I found a good deal with the detect fluffy head and both the full size and mini motor heads, and while it does seem to do a better job than the V6 (along with much better battery life), I wouldn't hesitate to continue using the V6 for my main vac if I needed to.

I have a Dyson Animal (v6 I think) that has lasted me almost 10 years, although I had to replace the battery once. I mounted the charger in a small closet where I keep my cleaning stuff and it takes up next to no space, which I appreciate and I would have loved when I had a studio apartment. Mine is cordless/bagless and I wish I could cover larger spaces before having to empty the canister…but 3 cats create a lot of tumbleweeds. I like it, but for full disclosure I turn to my DeWalt Shop Vac for larger/heavy duty vacuuming.

I've used a couple. Samsung, lg and dyson. I can't comment fully on how good the other two were, cause they were both cooked. But, the dyson has been my houses daily, and it works flawlessly. The only downside (which will be the downside for any stick vacuum) is the battery degrades over time. However, a big upside, is you can get an adaptor to change it to your tool battery of choice. I have dewalt tools, so I got a dewalt adaptor, and it has been a game changer. Way longer life, and the vacuum works better, somehow. But, just regular use, the dyson has been great. I've got a probably 4 year old v6 animal iirc. Got it for really cheap of grays or somewhere. Brand new. I think though, the modern ones are all a lot closer to each other in terms of features. I think if anything, I'd be looking at a robot vacuum, if I had the money for an expensive stick. They seem to be a game changer also. Inb4 you can swap tool batteries onto some of those as well

> Ease of use is important to me.. lightweight, easy to maneuver, and not overly complicated With how lightweight and maneuverability is important to you, I'd recommend a Dyson. I own both a Miele C1 and the Dyson V6 animal and although the Miele is more powerful, it's a bit more cumbersome to use since you have to drag around the motor and find an outlet to plug it into. The Dyson, although not as powerful, operates on battery, lightweight and is much easier to move around. All the features that seemed very important.

This. I have a 10 year old v6 animal and goes like a champ. Regular maintenance (like anything man made) is crucial. The batteries will eventually fail but thats an easy replacement in which you have more options than using Dyson brand.
