"I live in a 2700 square foot cookie-cutter tract house. First floor is laminate with an office that has carpet. Then there’s the stairs which leads to 5 carpeted bedrooms, two tile bathrooms, a laundry room, and a walk-in carpeted closet. I can get all of that done one charge."

"being cordless and effective for what I need. ... For some the tradeoff for cordless, no bags, good suction, etal means we vacuum more than we otherwise would. ... I never would have thought I'd defend a near $1,000 cordless vacuum but I got one as a gift and will never buy anything different now."
"I ’ve been spoiled by cordless vacuuming, especially since my house was built in the 20s and has few options for outlets."

"The no bag is a feature for some of us not a defect. ... I dont make a mess emptying it vs making a mess swapping bags - cause I overfill it. That's a me thing but it's a consistent me thing and I dont have to worry about it with the Dyson."
"it doesn’t have a bag"

"hair gets wrapped around the tiny wheels very easily and it’s a huge PITA to remove. ... After about a year the wheels stop turning entirely. ... DONT BUY IT."
"The out of warranty repair cost was 75% of what a new one would cost so I chucked it."
"I had the stick and the ball versions and both barely lasted a year"

"the amount of dog hair / ETC it can get out of the carpet vs the Dyson Cordless cannot be compared."
"the cordless Dyson isn’t that great for carpet/rugs ... I have the old school Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner and it’s sooo much better for rugs"

"The Dyson battery was internal so you can't swap out a battery if it dies on you."
"replacing a vacuum that died (Dyson) ... I will have probably bought 2-3 dysons in that time period"
"I’ve had one for my V8 and it’s lasted longer than the oem now, plus it is a lather capacity battery too."

You can try Gen5Detect...it is basically the V15 on steroids, more suction, better filtration, slightly bigger bin. Only downside is it’s heavier, so if you’re doing stairs a lot you’ll notice. Otherwise, it’s Dyson’s peak right now.
r/VacuumCleaners • Which Dyson cordless vacuum is actually worth it? ->So overwhelmed with all the options. I currently have a Dyson Gen5detect and it's fine I guess, but I feel like it misses so much dust and cat litter. Looking for a corded vacuum with lots of suction. We do have some medium pile carpet, but really looking for something that aces on hard surfaces (wood, laminate, vinyl). My budget is around $600ish.
r/VacuumCleaners • So Overwhelmed - Best for Hard Floors/Cat Litter? ->I bought a gen5 detect after using a Shark and it's literally blown me away by how good it is. Laser is amazing, suction is great. I wish all the accessories would also light up. Not sure why they omitted the LEDs from the carpet brush. Maybe you bought a lemon or the v12 isn't good as a model.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->So my setup for 4 cats and a dog. 1500sq ft. Hardwood and tile, no carpet. Upstairs: iRobot i4 Roomba. Downstairs: iRobot 980. Downstairs: iRobot M6 mop. My Roombas (iRobots) are great to me because they run where I can't easily reach. They go under things (sofa, bookshelves, beds, etc). They run when I'm not home. They keep the "tumbleweeds" under control. When you get the map dialed in and your furniture / cables organized so they don't get hung up, they're great. Are they perfect? No. But can I tell if they don't run for a day? Absolutely. Whole house: Dyson Gen5detect. I *despise* this thing. Purchased in November 2023 when it was their top of the line product. I've had nothing but issues. Warranty replaced the whole machine in May 2025. This one is even worse; feels like a second cheaper run of the product. It even sounds cheaper when it runs (higher pitch), feels fragile, just doesn't suck as well as the first one, auto detect doesn't work, it won't switch to boost when running on auto., pushes around the dog hair... the list goes on and on. It's being replaced AGAIN under warranty as of August 2025. Robots run twice a day; mop runs once a day. Dyson is for every 3-4 days to catch what was missed and the stairs. At this point, my robots are doing the heavy lifting and we're looking at Sebos. Seems like bagless just will not last as long. Full stop. For the robots, yes bin size is important but HEPA is more important to me due to dander. You want something that will pack the bin full. My 980 thinks it's "full" when it's about 1/4 to half full because pet hair is fluffy and it triggers the full bin sensor. They fixed this on the i4 which will PACK that bin to bursting before it triggers full bin. Run time is less important; most robots have recharge and resume now if they map. I've also had an Eufy (I think it was an 11S?) For $200 I was impressed. I just missed the smart map; it was an old style where it bumps and then pivots to cover an area. It was annoying to watch after a "smart" robot vac. I've gifted these for housewarming gifts and the recipients (who also have pets) like them. I hope this helps.
r/VacuumCleaners • best vacuum for pet hair? which setups work for you guys? ->I'm really happy with my Dyson. Gen5 detect something... 4 years old, works great.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->Keine Ahnung wieso der Dyson Service scheiße sein soll.
r/wohnen • Akkustaubsauger - Ich raste komplett aus ⬇️ ->Gen5Detect but the soft roller really makes it a stick clean so much better. Relying on suction alone isn’t ideal since they don’t have as much as stronger corded vacs.
r/VacuumCleaners • What is the best cordless stick vacuum on the market without a roller bar or comes with roller bar on/off option? ->For what, your weight set? Jk. Dyson V15 Detect, Gen5Detect, and Miele Triflex HX2 are the most powerful stick vacs. Some people complain about the way the HX2’s dust bin opens but it really is simple and takes not time at all. You turn the lid counterclockwise to 10 O’ Clock position to remove it, then turning the lid to the counterclockwise 8 O’ Clock position opens the trapped door which is where the dirt falls out of. Full machine disassembly for deep cleaning / repair / service is significantly easier with the Triflex. It relies on one cyclone whereas the V15 and Gen5Detect have numerous cyclone (6 or 8?), so they don’t need filter cleaning as often. Their dirt bin capacities are a little larger, but they should all be emptied after each use imo. For all sticks, fully charge the battery before using it the first time. Does something to pair it with the circuit board.
r/VacuumCleaners • Best cordless vacuum carpet cleaner for this? ->The Dyson V15 and Gen5Detect are the most powerful cordless stick vacs. I believe they’re worth owning, but they aren’t worth being the only vacuum someone has. In other words, a good corded main vac is still necessary for deep cleaning.
r/VacuumCleaners • My personal opinions on cordless vacuums ->I have a dyson gen5 detect that we got when they were like 40% off earlier in the year. No word of a lie it’s the best vacuum I’ve ever used, shop vacs included. Makes my carpets look freshly steamed even with all the hair my car leaves in it.
r/australia • Vacuum Recommendations? ->Ik heb de Dyson Gen5 Detect. Aankoop van de eeuw.
r/nederlands • Over welke stofzuiger ben jij tevreden? ->Not sure I can agree on the customer service part, I recently purchased some other Dyson products and then had a hell of a time trying to return them. However, I can agree on the strength of the Dysons. We have a 15-year-old 19 animal (still going strong) and we have just purchased a new cordless G5 detect. The power on this thing is ridiculous and it’s pulling up all sorts from the depth of the carpet. The runtime is fine and more than we need. The laser is amazing on hard floors, a real game changer.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
