My Roomba has been a game changer ! I set off the roomba daily for a quick vacuum and then vacuum with my handheld Dyson Gen5detect once per week. I love both and have had them for just over 1 year.
The Dyson Gen5detect is a bit heavy tho, I would recommend checking out their lighter versions which work great too. For reference I have a long haired cat and a lab that sheds ALOT

You can try Gen5Detect...it is basically the V15 on steroids, more suction, better filtration, slightly bigger bin. Only downside is it’s heavier, so if you’re doing stairs a lot you’ll notice. Otherwise, it’s Dyson’s peak right now.
How old is the carpet? Any good vacuum will pull loose fibres out of carpets until they’ve been extracted, it then tapers off / stops. The Gen 5 like malt stains are actually fairly decent deep cleaners and the Gen5 in particular has good airflow and very good agitation. Not quite Sebo but better than most.
Loop-pile is susceptible to damage of any vacuum with a motorised brushbar. Most carpet manufacturers will recommend straight suction only. Problem with that is you’ll never fully deep-clean carpet with straight suction. That’s what you get for buying, let’s be honest, an impractical type of carpet.
Your best bet is a straight-suction vacuum. A robot vacuum has the same cleaning power as a carpet sweeper and that’s how they should be viewed as; to keep the carpets looking clean. You will absolutely need something to go over them once per week, as in, an actual proper vacuum.
Robot vacuums nearly all have motorised brush and as well however they have the same agitation as a feather duster. It wouldn’t damage these carpets but for what it’s worth, I’d suggest a straight suction cheapo vacuum would be good. Maybe a bagged canister from Amazon.
The gen5 would have served you well tbh. You could have gone for a Sebo canister with a powered head for all the other carpets, and a straight suction tool for these carpets and then you’d only have needed 1 vacuum.
No. The Dyson is an entirely different league better. Understand Dyson shift millions of products every year. How many of those amazon basic vacuums have been sold? Also, those in the internet cry the loudest. Confirmation bias; someone doesn’t typically randomly go online praising something that just works but they will use the internet to moan and complain.
My Dyson v8 animal lasted long for 9 years, same issue, battery didn’t last more than 5 min, and original spares were impossible to find; I have replaced it for another Dyson gen detect, so far I’m happy with my purchase , I hope it lasts same as its predecessor :)
For what, your weight set? Jk. Dyson V15 Detect, Gen5Detect, and Miele Triflex HX2 are the most powerful stick vacs. Some people complain about the way the HX2’s dust bin opens but it really is simple and takes not time at all. You turn the lid counterclockwise to 10 O’ Clock position to remove it, then turning the lid to the counterclockwise 8 O’ Clock position opens the trapped door which is where the dirt falls out of. Full machine disassembly for deep cleaning / repair / service is significantly easier with the Triflex. It relies on one cyclone whereas the V15 and Gen5Detect have numerous cyclone (6 or 8?), so they don’t need filter cleaning as often. Their dirt bin capacities are a little larger, but they should all be emptied after each use imo. For all sticks, fully charge the battery before using it the first time. Does something to pair it with the circuit board.
