I just returned the Dyson V11 despite the fact that it had the strongest suction power of any cordless vacuum we've tried, and it's because of the trigger, which also makes it difficult to maneuver. The fact that they haven't created a vacuum with an on and off button is pretty ridiculous. Not worth $400+.
I just got the v11 plus for $399 on sale. It definitely has better suction power than the v10. So I wouldn't pay that price for the 10 whatsoever. Either way, I'm returning mine. Even though the suction power is fantastic, it's hard to maneuver (likely because it suctions so well) and hate that it doesn't have an on and off button like other cordless vacuums. Instead, you have to press the button the entire time as you're vacuuming. That, combined with it being top heavy, makes it a no-go for me. Search Vacuum Wars videos on YT for recommendations.

I have a v11 Dyson pet stick vac. It has an attachment that essentially turns it into a handheld that I can use on the couch. I have a golden retriever and I love that thing.
Dyson all day, try and find models of v11+ on fb marketplace for roughly £100
I mean, the dyson is good for picking up like visual dirt and debris on the ground if you don’t feel like pulling out the Felix. That’s about it though. The SEBO will be better at almost everything else except convenience.
Don’t go cordless. I had a Dyson stick V11 for maybe 5 years. It started out great then the battery died quicker and quicker. To get proper suction I had to move to boost mode which drains the battery even faster. My home is 1700 sq ft mostly carpet. 2 batteries couldn’t get the entire home cleaned towards the end. I went with a sebo Felix. About 100 to 150 more than your budget. It is a beast on carpet but needs some accessories to be really useful on stairs. I would stick with corded for the best most consistent suction.
I just got rid of my old Dyson stick because of this issue. Had to use two batteries to vacuum my ~1,700 sq ft house. No matter what you pick stick with corded.
Same here, our battery became useless 2 months outside of warranty. I was despairing at the thought of needing a new one so quickly but ready to say eff it when my partner was doing some reasearch to trouble shoot the problem and stumbled across the adapters. We only have laminate and tile flooring so don’t even need the turbo. Regular vacuuming (at least weekly plus a couple of times a weeks near the kitty litter trays and a battery charge will last a month easy. If it goes flat, we have the Makita adaptor and if that does run out halfway through a clean, we just grab a spare from a tool to finish the job. We have since shared this info with friends and family who all had the same issue. Recently I saw someone selling their Dyson online because of this problem and I shared a link for the adaptors so they took theirs off the market.
Still, you should have gotten a lot more time out of the Dyson. My partner watches a dude on YouTube (unfortunately now deceased but really dry delivery) who reviewed all the Dyson’s, his name is Woopnik. He is awesome. Check him out as he is fun and by sharing this info hopefully his widow still gets a few $$ for the views. As a kid, my folks had a Hoover that lasted 15 years but only changed due to the weight. They then bought a Miele that lasted 10 until they stopped selling the bags to fit. My first “grown up” job was trying to sell Kirby’s. Quit on day 2 after I was scheduled for a complimentary carpet clean for an elderly woman/pensioner in housing trust who had custody of her granddaughter. G’Ma admitted that her granddaughter had asthma and per the script, I capitalised on that. Halfway through getting to commit to a payment plan over a few years for a few thousand, back in the mid 90’s, she wept silently and said “Okay, I can miss meals every other day if it makes my granddaughter healthy”. I broke down (I was only 18) in tears, explained to her that I was going off a script and no, she did not need this. It was a sales pitch of fear that I was trained to do. With my old flip Nokia (pink of course), I called Kirby and told them I quit, to come collect the company car, keys would be underneath. Then i called my ex to ask him to pick me up. While I was waiting, G’ma gave me scones and as a long time asthma sufferer, I offered advice about keeping windows slightly open for fresh air, wash sheets weekly and vacuum the bed with her regular vacuum at the same time.
