"I live in a 2700 square foot cookie-cutter tract house. First floor is laminate with an office that has carpet. Then there’s the stairs which leads to 5 carpeted bedrooms, two tile bathrooms, a laundry room, and a walk-in carpeted closet. I can get all of that done one charge."
"being cordless and effective for what I need. ... For some the tradeoff for cordless, no bags, good suction, etal means we vacuum more than we otherwise would. ... I never would have thought I'd defend a near $1,000 cordless vacuum but I got one as a gift and will never buy anything different now."

I’ve had the V15 detect for 4 years now and it’s as strong now as it was when I first bought it. I do clean it regularly and change the filters every couple of weeks. I thought the battery was declining but turned out the charger was defective and a new charger brought my battery and my replacement battery up to 100%. Best vacuum I’ve ever owned.
r/VacuumCleaners • Life after a Dyson Outsize ->I have had the Dyson V15, the Shark, and the LG CordZero and so far, LG is the huge winner because of its price and power. It is most comparable to the V15, without the price tag. We had the dyson for about 18months before its motor started to go (apparently a well known issue) so we returned it. The LG has been as powerful as the v15, and I prefer its attachments over the dyson. We have hardwood, tile, and some high pile and low pile rugs. LG does a great job on them all as a “daily driver” where I need dust, cat hair, crumbs, and dirt picked up.
r/VacuumCleaners • Best Cordless Stick Vacuum To Buy? ->Hated my Dyson too. Had the v15. I'm going to check this one out. I have a shark now and I hate it too.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->I had that Dyson v15 and I hated it. It always got clogged. I have a shark and hate that one too lol
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->I own a Dyson v15 with the green laser - #2 on that list. (I have Tile floors). It is soooo good. Even compared to other top rated Dysons. Worth every penny.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->Yea a lot of people hate on dysons but I’ve loved mine. Got a cheaper model but bought the laser head and it makes vacuuming so convenient and gross lol. I plan on replacing the battery when it dies out but that will be a problem on all stick vacuums
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I have the Dyson V15 detect and totally love it but it's not a bifl vacuum by any means. It's just the best of the available cordless vacuums. Bifl is more like a kirby imo. They're overbuilt and made to be worked on. I've worked on plenty of them and always really impressed at the quality of its build.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Dyson v15 detect has been great, don’t care what anyone on the sub states about it. It works great, zero issues if you keep it clean. It’s not my only vacuum, but it’s the one I tend to use the most.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->V15 detect. Bought from Costco for their warranty and service. LOVE the vacuum! Vacuuming has become a fun pastime instead of a chore.
r/dyson • Best Dyson Stick Vacuum ->Got a refurbished detect from Amazon and it’s worked perfectly for the year I’ve had it 🤷♂️
r/dyson • Best Dyson Stick Vacuum ->Regretting swapping my Dyson out for my old Wertheim Pet. It was awesome at vacuuming but the Dyson v15 Detect or whatever is so portable and easy to use
r/australia • Vacuum Recommendations? ->I have a Dyson V15 Detect. It is a great cordless, battery operated vacuum. The only issue with Dyson is that the quality is cheap. Cheap plastic parts everywhere. The dust bin broke 3 times. The wand broke 3 times. The red clip button broke 4 times. The battery broke once. I also had to order an extra battery and an extra filter because the battery runs out very fast and the filter needs an entire day or two to dry out after cleaning. I have 2 cats and 2 kids. 3 floors in the house. Mostly hardwood with a few rugs. The Dyson does a great job on hardwood floors. It does an okay job on carpets. For the price I paid, $700, it does not feel like a $700 machine. For $700 I expect good quality, and I expect it to not break like it does. This is what makes Dyson a bad brand. However, I have yet to come across a better cordless stick vacuum. If anyone knows a better one I’m ready to listen. Nobody can name a single better cordless stick vacuum than the Dyson.
r/VacuumCleaners • Suggest some of the best cordless DYSON vacuums ->I agree. I have a V15 detect. First 2 years were great. Warranty did replace a battery, 2 bins which surround the motor, and a filter. Now I am 3 years in, buttons break every few months, the motor plastic got warped or bent to the point that it can’t firmly hold attachments anymore, including the main wand. The vacuum feels flimsy and it’s terrible at vacuuming up carpets. It’s a $700 vacuum which feels more like a $200 vacuum at best. Dyson vacuums are made of cheap plastic, and they don’t last anything but a few years. Customer service is slow and tries to deny as many things as possible. For $700 I expect premium customer service and a product that works perfectly. I’m buying a Sebo.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I got the V15 at costco on a sale two years back. That green laser feature seemed like a gimmick but my Lord it makes me enjoy vacuuming so much more. being able to see all those layers of dust and then seeing them disappear is incredibly cathartic and that alone makes it worth it for me
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Costco has the v15 detect for $699.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I just grabbed the v15 detect. The laser shows you how nasty the floors are as you vacuum. It senses heavy debris and change of floor height and adjusts speed automatically. This is my 3rd Dyson and I’ve been happy with them all.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I gave up on Dyson after seeing damage to my less than 2 year old solid hickory wood floors. The fluffy head sits too close to the floors on the laser side. As it moves back and forth, it sometimes scrapes the beveled edges. Exchanged one V15 after that happened, thinking it was just that one that was defective. Second one ended up doing the same, and the canister seal broke after a month. Returned to Costco, never will buy another Dyson. Just bought a Sebo K3 which comes with a parquet floor brush which is gentle on hardwood floors.
r/VacuumCleaners • Best Vacuum for Hardwood Floors and Carpet ->I just returned a V15 because the seal in the canister broke after about a month. Also the laser fluffy brush sits so close to hardwood floors, and the laser side was scraping on some of my beveled edges of my hardwood floors which are less than 2 years old. I just bought a Sebo K3, which comes with the parquet brush for wood floors.
r/VacuumCleaners • what is best vacuum for rugs and wood floors? ->I have to agree with this. Returned my V15 because the fluffy brush was not gentle on my less than 2 year old solid hickory wood floors. Bought a Sebo which is gentle on my wood floors as it comes with a nice parquet floor brush.
r/dyson • Best Dyson Stick Vacuum ->I had a Dyson V15, and the fluffy head was not gentle on my hickory wood floors!
r/VacuumCleaners • Best Vacuum for Wood Floors ->I'll prob get downvoted for this bc dyson but woot is currently selling the v15 detect factory reconditioned for $350. I bought this same deal about a year ago and it's been really great. It was basically brand new and is the best vacuum I've ever owned. r/VacuumCleaners • Vacuum cleaner recommendations ->I own two Dysons and a Miele C3. I've had the Dyson Ball for about 12 years. I hated emptying the thing because of all the dust, etc, forcing me to always take it to the outside trashcan, which cut down on vacuuming in the winter and in the rain. Based on many, many recommendations I got the Miele and the powerhead jammed with pet hair within the first few minutes. "Not a problem, I'll just pull the roller and cut the hair off", I thought. The damn thing is not designed to be serviced except by a repairman. Seriously, even for hair wound up on the roller bar. After spending a couple of hours taking apart and putting it back together, I 3D printed an adapter to accommodate my Dyson tangle free turbine, which handles pet hair with practically no issues. That is a pretty good combination, to be honest, but that Dyson head is only about 4 inches wide, resulting in a lot of push/pull over the carpet. Plenty of suction from the Miele which, other than the servicing issue, I think is a good vacuum, but seriously over-priced--just like most Dysons. But after 5 years of the Miele-Dyson combo, I researched to see if the was anything new to tackle pet hair and found Dyson had improved things while Miele appears stuck. Enter the Dyson V15 Detect. I have not touched the Miele since I got the V15 a year ago. Good battery, good suction, handles pet hair way better than the old tangle-free turbine head and I can pull the roller bar, clear the wound up hair and be vacuuming again in less than 5 minutes. I still have the Miele and I should probably do a test with a clean bag and see how much of anything the V15 is missing (since the V15 will get all the pet hair). There are definite advantages to being corded and using bags, but those same things are also negatives in many circumstances. With the V15, I am less reluctant to vacuum and tackle patches of pet hair with vigor. With the Miele, I am pretty confident it is removing plenty of fine dust with the HEPA filtering and changing a bag is cleaner than emptying the V15 (which is far better than the old Dyson ball canister). I like my V15 for now. I'd love to see something better for pet hair from ANYBODY in the next 5 years, but especially from the robo-vacuum folks.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->My V15 Detect died after a year and they've had my dead vacuum for over a month now. Customer support is a joke. French rep literally told me the service in English sucked and that's why they couldn't figure what's going on.
r/dyson • Best Dyson Stick Vacuum ->This feels like I wrote this. The exact same has happened to me with my V15.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Anyone without the detect feature. My v15 detect has been nothing but problems. A lot of people would agree.
r/dyson • Best Dyson Stick Vacuum ->Mine was about a year and 2 months before it broke. I hope yours doesn't experience the same issue 🙏
r/dyson • Best Dyson Stick Vacuum ->I was having an issue where I would start the vacuum and it would cut power. Repress the trigger it would run for another few seconds then cut power. I spoke with support and the first time they sent a new battery. It made the problem even worse. Second time they said the body was defective and sent a replacement. Apparently it's a real common issue with the detect models as I discovered after the fact. Something to do with the detect sensor crapping out.
r/dyson • Best Dyson Stick Vacuum ->Totally agree with this and your comment. I've owned a V15 since it's introduction. It's been the best portable hand stick vacuuming in the market. I have a Miele canister vacuum, it's basically in the closet getting little to no use. Remember one thing Dysons electric motors are designed and made by them to work optimally with the cordless battery technology. They are one of the few companies that build their own mini electric small motors. They are optimized to be the most efficient to get the most out of battery usage. Since covid, I been using the V15 for all my vacuuming needs around the house, I even vacuum my bed sheets/mattress daily, amazing use for this. For the last few years I alternate between 2 batteries when I have larger vacuuming chores to do around the house but absolutely no complaints for the runtimes on one charge of the battery.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->I agree with this list. I have a V15 detect and it is what I use 95% of the time. It is just so convenient to grab it off the charger and be cleaning up a mess 1 second later. However, I bought it expecting it to last 10 years, probably with a battery replacement along the way. If I were to own only 1 vacuum, the Miele cat&dog is what I would have bought based on reviews. Call me lazy, but I bet my house would be less clean if that was my only vacuum. Dragging it out, dealing with the hose and cord, getting an extension cord or moving the car if I want to use it outside are all small but annoying barriers to quick cleans. I can take my Dyson off the charger, suck up a little spill, even step outside and empty it into the trash by the time I'd have a corded vacuum ready to go. If you live in a small house or apartment, the battery Dysons can be your only vacuum, but I think for larger homes you still want a corded machine. For what it is worth, my other vacuum is a DC24 from 2004ish, and while I didn't expect it to last all that long either, it still works good as new. I replaced the hose once about 10 years ago after I tore it. I like how modular it is so it can be taken all apart and cleaned and parts can be replaced like Legos.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (based on 1,821 users, in the past year) wdyt? ->The Dyson detect is the best by far imo. You can find some good options [in this thread](https://www.reddit.com/user/Working-Hawk-1982/comments/1neh4hg/the_best_cordless_stick_vacuums/)
r/VacuumCleaners • Best Cordless Stick Vacuum To Buy? ->That’s just not true. I had a V6 whose battery lasted for over six years. I finally bought a new V15 detect because my V6 got so incredibly gross. But it was still running just fine.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Do you have a mix of carpet and hard floors? If so, don’t get a Dyson unless you enjoy changing the heads for each surface. Otherwise, the regular brush will shoot out anything like pet food or cereal that you try to vacuum on a hard floor. Love Shark for their heads that have both a bristle for carpets and felt for hard floors on the same piece. Not sure if they’re vegan, though!
r/vegan • Looking for a vacuum cleaner ->Gen5Detect but the soft roller really makes it a stick clean so much better. Relying on suction alone isn’t ideal since they don’t have as much as stronger corded vacs.
r/VacuumCleaners • What is the best cordless stick vacuum on the market without a roller bar or comes with roller bar on/off option? ->I see the appeal of a stick. I have a V15. It’s about 3 yrs old. It’s primary role is for in-between cleans, small messes. Touch-ups. But, if I am going to vac our main living areas or the entire house, I can get the job done a lot faster with my Miele. If I am going to deep clean the carpet, I don’t pre-vac with my V15. I use my Kirby. If I am going to detail a vehicle, Miele. If I am going to use attachments for deep cleaning, Miele.
r/VacuumCleaners • Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people. ->Yup v15 has been great for a couple years so far. I don’t care if it doesn’t last forever, I’ll buy another. Peoples opinion on Dyson is based on the old ass one with weak performance.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Dyson V 15 and Sebo owner with two super hairy shorthairs living in a cement floored warehouse with lots of Turkish area rugs. Not sure what your obviously perfect feline does but life with my kitties has its challenges. They are dirt attractants to say nothing of the charms of litter in bare fee. Couldn’t live without the instant availability of a cordless and the 15 is a solid performer in all areas. My rugs do look cleaner after a full Sebo experience but I’m lazy and place is big. I have come to realize you need more than one vacuum, unless you have only one flooring type , don’t have to carry up stairs or navigate a labyrinth of hallways and live in under 1000sq ft.
r/VacuumCleaners • What should I get to vacuum lots of cat hair? ->I LOVE our Dyson V15, however, I definitely don't think it is 'buy it for life.' I don't see it being a durable piece of equipment and lasting many years. Pieces of it have come flying off apparently with no way to fix (cosmetic things, thankfully). However, it is amazing.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I know this topic comes up often and it's always said that a cordless vacuum isn't BIFL. But damn if the Dyson V15 isn't life changing for me. I actually *like* vacuuming now. Lugging the cannister and cord around of my old vacuum room to room was such a chore. It's just so much easier and I like their little gimmick of showing how much dirt it's captured. Bought mine refurbished for a nice price and had it for around 1.5 years now. Granted I've never tried a Miele before, but I only have hardwood floors and a few spot rugs so I don't think I'd never the extra power or whatever else advantages it brings. Especially at the expense of lugging the cannister around with me.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->That Lazer thing it has seems so gimmicky but it's an absolute life changer.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->We have: Roomba - Used 2/3 times a week between cleaner being here. Only does downstairs. Had this for many years, would definitely replace it when it breaks, maybe with one that mops and empties itself. Dyson V15 cordless - wall mounted for easy jobs and quick zip around. It has the green laser so it makes it easy to see where to clean. It's really good, buttttt....It doesn't last super long though, and I'm not impressed by the battery. Used by us and our cleaner. If it broke I would probably buy a replacement. Dyson Animal corded - Super powerful, but a bit cumbersome. Mostly used by our cleaner. Has this for nearly a decade I think. Very good investment. If it broke I might not replace and leverage the other two.
r/HENRYUKLifestyle • Vacuum cleaner recommendations ->The v15 (and more previous gens) has a big flaw in the v wheels in its motorized brush. Breaking it takes almost zero effort but replacing it is a freaking pain
r/BuyItForLife • These are the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (based on 1,821 users, in the past year) wdyt? ->I got a v15 detect for $500 at costco. Insanely good vaccuum so far. It has a replaceable battery which should come in handy as Ive seen the batteries go bad with older dysons.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->We have a V15 and so far it’s been faultless, if you keep the filters clean and close the shutter on the cleaner head (some of them have a + - slider on it, slide it to ensure the shutter is closed when on carpet for maximum suction. I clean the filter once a month and it sucks hard enough that my partner struggles to push it along the floor.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->some areas of WDW resort custodial use the Dyson V15's and I gotta be honest, theyre the only ones that have lasted months instead of mere days like other brands. They are worked HAAAARD and they still work great. Every other brand thats been put in our hands has broken in a few days or couple of weeks, so the company splurged for the good ones and they have probably already paid for themselves.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I think most people buying vacuums aren’t treating or looking at them as BIFL. Vacuum techs are going to crap on anything difficult to repair/maintain while your average consumer is only going to see the end result. I’ve owned a Hoover upright, shark upright, Dyson upright, and now 2 different Dyson sticks including the v15. I would never buy a canister vacuum due to what I deem as an inconvenience in pulling it around everywhere. When we owned a house with majority carpet the Dyson and Shark uprights were great. We have dogs and their brush roll was incredible at picking up pet hair. Our current house is primarily hardwoods and we still have dogs. The V15 is amazing, super light, and convenient. And despite how gimmicky the green light thing may look it really does work amazingly well for hardwoods with pet hair. It does ok on carpet and rugs but the old canisters feel like they would for sure outperform it. I don’t really expect a lifetime out of my vacuum especially if I’m buying a $150 Shark. If I get several years I’m pretty happy as the repair bill is near the cost of the Vacuum - it’s almost like the printers whose ink refills was more expensive than a new printer.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Cordless with enough power to actually clean and capacity to finish a job are a big deal. Beyond that, everything else is a very distant second. I'll say the v15 is a beast. And I'll never go back to a corded vacuum after having one.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->For my use with only hard floors,a small space and tons of heavy spot cleaning, having cordless mobility isn't optional. And I find it does a better job than the Dyson ball I used to have. Like most things the 'best' choice is extremely dependent on the specifics of use. There's no circumstance where a corded vacuum would ever be in consideration for me, so while I'm sure Miele makes excellent vacuums, they'll never work for me. That said, I only got it because it was on sale and at Costco. The full price is eye watering and a bit demented.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I mean the v15 is actually good. I had a animal at one point and that thing was crap
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Shark power detect all the way, I had a Dyson v15 and was constantly having to reach into it and dig the dust out. The shark power detect is like $300 cheaper and honestly way better
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->Funny enough I just made a similar post but geared towards Sharks in specific. Like I understand that people want a professional vacuum, for some reason. In my opinion I feel like you only really need one of those big professional vacuums if you're cleaning for a living. Most people up would do fine with a battery-powered stick vacuum that hangs up and charges and you can just take down and use whenever you need to use it and then hang it back up when you're done. I bought an expensive canister vacuum and then ended up hating it because I was constantly having to lug it out and plug it in and do all these extra steps so I never really ended up using it. But then I got a stick vacuum and I use it everyday now because it's way more convenient and I think that that's what most people want. I understand the need for a large plug-in bagged vacuum for once in a while use or if you're a house cleaner but for the majority of people a stick vacuum is more than good.
r/VacuumCleaners • Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people. ->Yeah also among the cordless vacuums there is this Dyson elitism which is so silly to me. I had a Dyson V15 and was constantly having to reach in the vacuum to pull the dust out. I returned it for a Shark that was $300 cheaper and came with a dock that empties itself and charges it. Also it intelligently switches from hard to soft floors, on my Dyson I had to put a separate head on it. I will say I only have carpet on my stairs and the rest of my 2000 sq ft home is hard floors. For someone with a lot of carpet maybe the cord and bag really has a place but for me I'm more than happy with a stick vacuum. When Miele goes on sale I will buy one just for days when I want to deep clean because you can get the C1 on sale for under $300
r/VacuumCleaners • Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people. ->Dyson v15 works fantastic, got the green light on hard floor head, so I vac in the dark and see all hair and dirt. Carpet head works a treat, Power head is great for stairs and the car. Only downside is being cordless has limited run time so I alternate days I vacuum up and down stairs or give a few hours to charge up It replaced my previous Dyson v7 wich worked great when i bought my house, shortly after getting my heeler it just couldn't cope. lol
r/blueheelers • Vacuum Recommendations!! ->its a bit ridiculous but I have the Dyson v15 and I love it. I bought it because of their pet brush technology, mainly, I have very long hair and have destroyed a lot of vacuums with the tangling (iykyk). maybe there are dupes, but i really don't regret it and use it almost every day.
r/Apartmentliving • What cordless vacuum cleaners have y'all had good luck with? ->I own Dyson V15 and I don’t understand how people who have it hype about it. The only way to describe it is that it’s a toy vacuum cleaner not unlike the ones kids play house with. It has no suction power unless you go into turbo mode, which is still average at best, but then the time you can use it goes down to 5 mins or less.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Just picked up a v15 and using it on hard wood and carpet. Was shocked by how much it picked up from the carpet.
r/dyson • What is the best vacuum for carpeted floors? ->Dyson is the worst built vacuum cleaner out there. I was shocked to discover that Shark appear to be better made and they are not even that good. Dyson have a design fault with the wheels snapping off on the V15 and Gen5 models and Dyson refuse to modify the design to stop it from happening. Their outsourced Indian contact centre is not very good and customer service has gone down hill! I don’t want another Dyson and I’ve had Dyson since 1999!
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I love my Dyson v15. I have a long haired cat and often I end up vacuuming after her twice a day. It’s just easier running around with a cordless, and it picks up so much hair. I had a v7 before this one and when I upgraded I vacuumed with the 7 and then the 15 just to see the difference. Couldn’t believe how much extra hair the 15 picked up. I did have an issue with the submarine head but they sent me a new one with no fuss.
r/newzealand • Briscoes sale - vacuum cleaner recommendations please!! ->My Miele C3 fails to vacuum newfie hair from carpets but my Dyson v15 manages it perfectly! Even from fluffy and sisal rugs. With both the Total and pet hair attachments.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->Dyson v15 detect with both fluffy and total attachments! This is what I have and really love to use. I also have a Miele C3 which is an acceptable vacuum in this group, but I really only like to use the Dyson v15. The Dyson even vacuums all the newfoundland dog hairs from sisal carpets which Miele miserably fails to do. As a bonus I like to vacuum dust and crap from sofas and tabletops and ceilings etc. which I would never do with Miele. So I recommend you go for v15. I have older Dyson models as well and cannot recommend those.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->Funny. Have a Dyson V15 and hate that thing. Underpowered, always clogging. Got a cheap, lightweight plug-in Shark and love that thing. Handles everything and never complains. My only point being life rarely provides one right answer. Hope everyone finds their BIFL.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I have an older Shark and a newer Dyson V15. The Shark is corded, but it is awesome and powerful. The Dyson is great but it's more for smaller jobs. The tank is so small and the battery doesn't last long for big messes in high power mode. I would look at Shark models if I were in the market to solve your problem.
r/AskACanadian • Canadians, I need a vacuum recommendation. 😋 ->Our Dyson V15 works great, haven't regretted the purchase at all. Super convenient to use, super easy to empty, saying that as someone with ADHD who absolutely despises cleaning. Battery life is great for our 2B2B home, can go over all the floors about twice after fully charging. We don't have pets, but my partner and I both have very long hair that gets everywhere and it's been great with that. Our home is half carpet and half engineered hardwood, so it's great it comes with different heads for different floorings. I have a love-hate relationship with the fluffy optic cleaner head that lights up dust, because on one hand it's so satisfying to see the dust and then see it get vacuumed up, but it also shows all the scratches on the floor left by construction lol.
r/vegan • Looking for a vacuum cleaner ->I swapped C3 with Dyson v15, apart from being portable, Dyson is definitely worse in every category.
r/dogs • Recommend me a vacum cleaner. (not robot vacum please) ->I think the main take away is bags. The canister is a messy hassle to empty. It's my only real complaint with my Dyson v15.
r/VacuumCleaners • Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people. ->My husband bought a v15 Dyson with all the attachments. It's nice but emptying the bin after every other use is annoying. Cleaning the after filter is messy and annoying. Blowing out the cyclone part of the filter is messy AF. And for people who live in apartments or similar would be impossible. However my Kirby is self propelled and I get about 2-3 months on a bag. Belts last forever and it has huge amounts of suction. Like it lifts the carpet up kind of suction. And I don't have to worry about running out of battery or hurting the battery.
r/VacuumCleaners • Why Are Bagged Vacuums Making a Comeback? ->Nah. I have a Dyson v15 and it takes care of dust and dog hair just fine. With that being said I'm currently looking at a sebo felix because I have a self control problem.
r/VacuumCleaners • Are cordless vacuums really useless at picking up dust and dog hair? ->Dyson V15 is a good choice
r/VacuumCleaners • Good quality cordless stick vacuum cleaner ->We have the v15 had for over a year now and it's been fantastic. Never knew we had so much dirt lodged in the carpet. Battery life is still more than enough to clean the whole fairly big sized house
r/VacuumCleaners • Best Cordless Vacuum ->Terrible price. Go to Dyson official ebay store or Dyson website and get a refurbished. Can get the new v15 for that price which is wayyy better V11 is like 250 which is a huge improvement on the v10 as well
r/VacuumCleaners • Thoughts on the Dyson V10 Animal+ for $400? ->I know it's not even close to being on the list, but the LG CordZero A949 (with the charging/emptying base and power mop) is ffuuucking awesome. I ordered it and the Dyson v15 at the same time and returned the Dyson. Yes, the Dyson was better one-on-one if you only compare the suction and pure vacuuming power. But the adaptability and multi-functionality of something like the LG is just amazing for my house (1350 sqft house, usually end up using one of the two batteries for a quick clean).
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->My Dyson v15 was the best purchase I've ever made. I love that fucking bastard.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->The v15 is a powerhouse. I use a v7 for my hard floors and low pile carpet. I finish up the carpet with a hoover powerdash pet and I finish up the hard floors with a hoover floor mate deluxe. I use either of my dyson for dusting surfaces, then I come back with a microfiber or swiffer.
r/VacuumCleaners • My original Dyson lasted me 19 years. Are Dysons any good still? Or should I switch to a Sebo? Have carpet upstairs and on the stairs. Roomba takes care of the tIle downstairs. ->We have the dyson V15 and love it. Our house is mostly hard surfaces but having the guide light shows you how much hair builds up in a short time and it has great suction and a good battery life.
r/CleaningTips • Best Vacuum For Pet Hair ->Honestly, don't buy the Dyson V16. I bought it and just sent it back. The new brush is terrible. It doesn't vacuum properly on hard floors or carpets. The Dyson Gen5 performs much better. Otherwise, the V15 is excellent value for money.
r/VacuumCleaners • Looking for good cordless vacuum cleaner ->We got the Dyson V15 (not technically EU though). It cost a lot but it is amazing. It’s packed with two batteries, it’s not very heavy and it has long enough battery life so I can vacuum the whole house in one go. My spouse works for a competitor so the first cordless vacuum cleaner we got was one from her company and it was clunky and heavy and it broke down after half a year. Then I decided to go premium and I have not been disappointed.
r/BuyFromEU • Looking for European cordless vacuums ->I was a Dyson Animal ball vacuum fan but durability became an issue. I love the Dyson V15 for our hard surface floors. Bought a Sebo Felix last year and it does great on carpet. However, it’s a heavy machine compared to Dyson, Shark, etc. As a CR subscriber for decades I can attest to a decline in their rating quality. It may be that their shift to algorithms that weight other factors differently.
r/VacuumCleaners • Consumer Reports Reviews of Vacuum Cleaners ->We have Dyson V15 and it works great
r/VacuumCleaners • Are cordless vacuums really useless at picking up dust and dog hair? ->So far I really love my V15, but I'm more of a hardwood floor, living room rug and car interior cleaner. I've only ever had extremely shitty vacuums before this, though, so maybe my standards are low. But it gets my cat's fur right out of the rug and is very useful for nooks and crannies. Maybe the green light thing is a gimmick but it helps me spot crap on the floor I would not see otherwise. I believe I bought it in March of '22. So far no issues (knock on wood).
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->We have a Dyson V15 with a special head (??) for animal hair. Pros: cordless, fits nicely on a wall and is recharged, sucks fantastic, easy to clean, knock off filters work Cons: expensive, small reservoir, quite heavy
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->My Dyson v15 does a very good job on the the hardfloors. I use it multiple times a day as I have little kids and dogs. It is fantastic to just pull it off the wall and quickly clean the floors. My Miele C3 comes out on the weekend for a deep clean, especially the carpet and furniture. If I didn't have carpet I'd probably have gotten a C1. For the charge, my house is similar size but 50/50 carpet and hardfloors and the V15 has no issue cleaning it all in a single charge. Not sure how quickly it recharges TBH since when I'm done it stays in the charger for at least several hours before I need it again.
r/VacuumCleaners • Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people. ->I love my V15, it's surprisingly powerful for a stick. I use it everyday to touch up the whole house, so easy to just pop off the wall and go. On the weekend my Miele C3 comes out for the deep clean.
r/VacuumCleaners • My original Dyson lasted me 19 years. Are Dysons any good still? Or should I switch to a Sebo? Have carpet upstairs and on the stairs. Roomba takes care of the tIle downstairs. ->Shark cordless vacuum cleaners are not a type I would recommend. For the price, they have things about them that make them worse than a lot of the competition such as poor build quality and single cyclones. As for cordless, Dyson and LG, and sometimes Samsung, still make the leading mainstream ones in the United States. For Dyson, the V11 to current models are the best on carpet. The V8 is affordable, but lacks the run time and overall power to do a stellar job on carpet, at least in my opinion. Something such as the V15 smokes the heck out of a V8 and even a V10. Even the V12 is decent enough and good if you want something little and lightweight while still being powerful. Also read this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Reviews/comments/1ca9p62/vacuums_to_get_for_every_situation/
r/VacuumCleaners • Best Cordless Stick Vacuum To Buy? ->I have a Dyson V15 and love it. It's light enough for my 66-year-old worn-out self to handle. However, I have a small 1000sqft condo with wood flooring and some scattered rugs, so it's not as hard on the battery as all-over carpeting would be. Plus, I alternate vacuuming different rooms on different days of the week. I don't think I could do my whole place on just one charge. If I had a larger space, especially with all-over carpeting, I would not expect this Dyson to be able to handle it over the long haul. I bought it last year, so I guess I'll find out how long it will last. If it doesn't last, it'll be a Miele for me. For ease of use, I am completely sold on cordless stick vacuums.
r/internetparents • Internet Mom/Dad, what're the BEST vacuums overall? ->This sub HATES Dyson so you’re not getting a fair representation.. the v15 is one of the highest rated / awarded models and is an excellent machine
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I have Miele C1 and Dyson V15. We use Miele when more suction is needed and Dyson for light duty tasks
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I never thought I would consider vacuuming an enjoyable process but the V15 made it possible.
->Idk man. I read reviews and Reddit posts for weeks and noticed reddit has an extreme bias towards sebo and Miele canister vacuums. But I didn't really get it, as so many of these models don't even come with a power head for carpets unless you get the tip top model, they have similar suction as a quality stick that runs on battery (Dyson v15 for example), they have the same level of filtration as a stick with no need to purchase bags, and they're harder to use (at least in smaller homes like mine). Most of the time these vacuums don't come with a powered carpet cleaner head, or you need the premium hard floor head, and don't get me started on the 24 different variations of packs with differing attachments and pieces using coded names like the STB-305-3 (wtf man). Tell me why the fuck this has to exist: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EhG-SIwgp6E/maxresdefault.jpg So I decided I would go with the Dyson v15 instead. Maybe it won't last 15 years like everyone claims these others do, but it has swappable batteries, and my last Dyson V8 has held up just fine from 5 years of abuse now so.. plus, the V15 is 200$ off for black Friday at 799 best buy.
r/homeowners • Best (cost/performance) vacuum cleaner? ->Also highly recommend the 15 for a stick vac. Much better specs than the 11 on this list. We love ours and use it daily with 2 large dogs. The front light is amazing for showing hair and dirt on hardwood.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->The chom chom roller is the best for couches. I never thought I’d be a Dyson person but I got the one with the laser hardwood floor attachment and pet hair couch attachment and it’s the greatest.
r/CleaningTips • Best Vacuum for Pets? ->The laser head is so fun to use. We have 2 cordless Dysons and they get regular use with our 2 dogs and 7 cats. No complaints whatsoever. Had the V11 for a while now and the laser one is more recent. I think some people don’t realize the vacuums themselves need cleaning once in a while - like rinsing off the filter and taking the rollers off to clean them.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Dyson Detect is crap. Worst $1k I’ve ever spent. Get a Miele if you want to actually CLEAN.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->The Dyson sticks are highly overrated. To obtain adequate suction power, you need to use the high setting but your battery will only run for 10 minutes tops.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I have a Dyson stick vacuum and I love it
r/Apartmentliving • What cordless vacuum cleaners have y'all had good luck with? ->Whoever has those Dysons clearly doesn’t have multiple long-haired, double coated pets running around. I had the stick and the ball versions and both barely lasted a year
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->We have a Dyson stick vacuum and I haven't vacuumed since my 3.5yo discovered it at 18months. All I have to do is hold it and suddenly I'm being screamed at until I allow them to vacuum. Needless to say, I'm a big fan.
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->we have a dyson and a shark. i hate my dyson. i LOVE my corded dyson, but the battery life in the stick vacuum is awful after a while. i like the shark a lot!! it does very well and i haven’t noticed a dip in battery life
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->I had a Dyson "stick" type vacuum. It didn't last nearly as long as the price tag suggested it should. The out of warranty repair cost was 75% of what a new one would cost so I chucked it. I replaced it with a **Hoover ONE PWR** at half the price of the Dyson. I've had it longer than I had the Dyson and it's still working great. It comes with 2 batteries so one lives on the charger, the other on the vacuum. Means I've always got a full charge. The Dyson battery was internal so you can't swap out a battery if it dies on you. I would avoid anything that's not a brand name. Before the Dyson there was a generic Amazon no-name special vacuum that I used once, packed it back up in the box, and sent it back. Absolute junk. Bad suction. Just bad all around. Some of them may be fine but I don't trust the Amazon reviews on the no-name ones. They have a "Fieety" brand stick vacuum for $159 with nearly 1000 reviews averaging 4.6 stars. Is it good? You'd think so. But I still wouldn't take a chance on it. Ironically, the vacuum I bought and have had nothing but good luck with has a very low rating on Amazon (only 3 reviews though), but it doesn't matter as it's no longer available since it's such an old model.
r/BuyItForLife • Can someone please recommend a good vacuum cleaner for laminate floorings? ->I love my Miele. I’ve only had it about 8 years, but my parents has lasted over 25 years at this point. I also have two Dyson sticks and they work great
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Dyson Animal Big Ball , plug-in. The pet hair attachment is great plus the main foot too. All the other attachments are ++ but for pet stuff they’re the stars Def not cordless. If I use my bf’s stick Dyson on the rug then use my Dyson there’s a noticeable difference!!! The stick is for quickies 😜
r/dogs • Best vacuum for pet hair? ->My friend with 2 goldens and wood floors gets very frustrated with their Dyson stick, I know a few yrs ago they'd sent it back a couple of times. They also have a miele corded thing, looked v basic but was quite powerful. They'd had it prob 15 yrs when I borrowed it. As for other brands of cordless things, my dad has a vac and I think I did a better job with the broom!
r/dogs • Best vacuum for pet hair? ->Dyson Dyson Dyson If somebody made me choose between a free Miele and my Dyson stick I would still choose my Dyson Stick. I cannot stand plugging in vacuums ever again. I can't stand heavy vacuums. I can't stand now vacuums. I can't stand the way the bag vacuum smell because the bag is always slightly permeable it's gross. Dyson. Hands down.
r/homemaking • Vacuum Cleaner Recommendations? ->I've previously had a Shark Upright and now have a Dyson Stick. I think both are fine. Honestly the biggest thing that made me go with Dyson over Shark for my current vacuum is being able to maintain my vacuum. When looking online and in store it was hard to tell how I would clean the regular floor head myself with the Shark, while the Dyson is incredibly simple. Even the filter on the Dyson is washable, I don't have to replace any disposable parts all the time. If I can't maintain and clean my own cleaning tools they're doomed to be replaced sooner.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->We have a Miele, a Dyson stick vac, and a shark robo vac. We use them for different purposes, but all have their place in our house. Miele came first though almost 10 years ago and it’s never had any issues.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I have used Dyson stick vacuums for almost a decade and I don’t regret it at all. I have never had any issues with them and the aftercare from Dyson Australia has always been fantastic. I think it’s absolutely crucial to maintain your Dyson to keep it running smoothly.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Well, just making sure I clean the filters regularly, like once a month or so. And cleaning out the bin part every so often and also the turbo brush. And not over filling the bin. That’s just been my experience, but I acknowledge others have ran into issues with their Dyson.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I love my Dyson stick vacuum. I stand by Dyson as my brand of choice for vacuums
r/BabyBumpsandBeyondAu • Best stick vacuums?! ->The batteries on the Dyson stick vacuums, well, they suck, and not in a good way. They last about as long as a short fuse on a firecracker.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->The problem is not that the battery runs out during normal use, it's that EVERY SINGLE TIME you use max suction mode, it shortens the life of the battery. The user manual might say to only use max suction mode in short bursts, but it still doesn't change the fact that max suction mode is so bad for the battery that it shouldn't even be an option.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->I can say the Miele C1,2, and 3 bags or like $45 for the XL ones and it’s 8 bags or for you, a year supply. though you might only go through 5-6 cause they do compact the dust pretty well. And it comes with 2 pre motor filters and 2 post motor filters. So you get to change it’s primary filter every time you change bags, the pre motor filter which is what keeps the motor clean and running for a long time every 4 bags and the post motor filter which is the the last stand filter for anything that might have made it through every 4 bags. Also air flowing through a MERV 13 filter several times is the equivalent to a hepa filter cause they filter the same .3 micron particles and hepa filters 99% and MERV 13 filters 75-85%. So this would be close if not better than “hospital grade filtration.” And if you must they sell a hepa grade post motor filter as well for most models. So bagged would be great for your needs, and for an extra $45 you get a machine that will last at least twice if not up to four times as long as any baggless vacuum. I also own a Dyson stick for the past 2 years and my dad owns a Dyson animal ball for the past 15 years and they work pretty darn well. Shark might not last as long but the don’t leak dust either and is cheaper from what I’ve seen so its also is a viable option. Best of luck!!
r/VacuumCleaners • Do you recommend the bagless Miele vacuum cleaners if I have dust mite allergy? ->I’m genuinely not sure what this sub hates Dysons so much. I’ve had an upright for 15 years now and have never had an issue. And I’ve had a Dyson stick vacuum for 5 years and no issues.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I’ve had a Dyson upright for going on 15 years now and have never had an issue. I’ve also had one of their stick vacuums for about 5 years and again, no issues. 🤷🏻♂️
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I also have pets and got a Miele C1 Cat and Dog. The suction is fantastic, but due to the fur tumbleweeds and tracked in dirt, I vacuum every other day or so. For that I find myself reaching for my backup Dyson stick - the canister is just too much of a pain for a quickie rug pass. Miele is the weekly “CLEAN ALL THE THINGS” tool. So if you are a chronic vaccunmer, I’d suggest either getting a Miele (or comparable) stick vac, or if you go canister, get a cheap backup for quickie fur jobs.
r/VacuumCleaners • Anti-tangle canisters vs cordless ->Dyson isn't what they used to be. I use one of their sticks at work. It was great initially but I've been watching it literally fall apart over the last few years (first the dust canister kept coming apart, then one of the wheels fell off, then the button that holds the stick in fell off). It gets a little abused, but it's not exactly tossed around. The suction is good. Everything else leaves something to be desired. Your money is probably better spent elsewhere.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->Dyson stick. We have 3- one for each floor. They’re amazing. We had a shark and it wasn’t nearly as good so we gave it away and got another Dyson. We have a roomba which is great for daily use but not for deep cleans. We also have a plug in something that we never touch bc it’s such a pain.
r/homeowners • Best house vacuum ->They can be replaced w off brand batteries from Amazon for bout $30-60 a pop and stronger/longer lasting. Two screws and the battery pops out and you pop the new one in. No wires or anything.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->I did buy the wrong one at first but then just returned it to Amazon without an issue. My tip is to Take a photo of the back/underside of the current battery, it has all the info you need! Then when you get a hair to sit down and Amazon; just look up the photo. The newer and bigger battery made using my Dyson stick a pleasure again.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->I love all the ryobi products i've purchased except for this. Bought to replace a dyson stick and it was far worse and we returned it. Clunky, loud and poor suction. Ended up fixing the dyson stick vacuum
r/VacuumCleaners • Wondering if anyone here has experience or knows of the Ryobi ONE+ Stick Vacuums and could help with advice on if I should get one or not, Ryobi tools have held up for quite a while and one of my favorite brands here in Australia. (I hate the pull along canister vacuums) ->We never tried the shark. Ultimately, we bought some aftermarket parts for our dyson and it works good as new. I love the dyson stick vacuum for quick pickups. We also have a Miele for the whole house
r/VacuumCleaners • Wondering if anyone here has experience or knows of the Ryobi ONE+ Stick Vacuums and could help with advice on if I should get one or not, Ryobi tools have held up for quite a while and one of my favorite brands here in Australia. (I hate the pull along canister vacuums) ->I've replaced like every part except the motor in my Dyson stick vacuum over the last 10+ years and it works great. Being able to get cheap replacement parts is a huge benefit
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->If you don’t care about budget then a Dyson stick vacuum, if you’re on a budget I like my shark stick vacuum
r/CleaningTips • Best vacuum for all floors, pet hair, and heavy duty use that is NOT bulky. ->I use a Dyson stick vacuum, I do have to empty the canister multiple times for each area but it works great on both hard floors and carpet
r/greatpyrenees • Please help me with a quality (dog hair) vacuum recommendation ->Go to Walmart and buy the Hart $100 stick vacuum. I have had 2 dysons and while they're nice the batteries are trash. I have tried factory and cheap replacements, and not much difference. Bought a cheap Walmart one for the garage and it worked great. Battery lasts forever. It works so well that the Dyson has gone to garage and the hart stays in the house. I've had it for 3 years now, still original battery working just fine. I'd get a year tops out of a Dyson battery. Dyson wins the looks award, but Hart beats it in performance.
r/VacuumCleaners • Used Dyson v8 Absolute ->Can you elaborate what you mean by maintain? I’ve had my stick for a few years and it works ok, but I am completely ignorant about the maintenance.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Thank you! I have literally not done any of these (other than overfilling, I always empty it after every use). I’ll start following your suggestions.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->YES. I hate vacuums. The noise is awful. My Dyson stick vacuum is tolerable- I can do a quick 5 -10 minute vacuum everyday. (Small house) Otherwise, I’d never vacuum.
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->Dyson stick vacuum cleaners are the easiest to use and the best design for domestic use IMO. I had a miele in the past, and dragging around a cleaner on little wheels and replacing bags is terrible: I don't care how long they last.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->My Miele is 15 years old , has some paint scratches but works fine otherwise. This is the main vacuum. I also have Dyson cordless stick and that thing already on replaced bin ( original cracked) and third party batteries. As much as stick convenient in area without available outlets I don’t like that thing. Third thing I use almost daily is robot vacuum. I have pets and it makes life easier.
r/BuyItForLife • Best vacuum cleaner? ->The dyson we are just replacing is going on 9 years. We did swap out the battery for a bigger one. It still runs great, except it has damage from falling into the ground due to our child trying to vacuum and leaving it in strange place. But considering how many times it has been dropped its going okay.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->Ours took a tumble down the stairs a few times too. So it has taken a beating and it is the primary vacuum we use so it hasn't been too bad.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->I feel like cordless sticks are more designed for small flats. Like if I had a house I‘d never buy a Dyson stick. But I have a 30 square meter flat and there is immovable furniture in that space. I probably need to clean 10-20 square meter. The Dyson is amazing for that. I don’t need a battery that lasts more than 15 minutes.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Well a lot of people own Dysons that are nearly 20 years old and still working fine. That’s good enough for me. Who knows what kind of technology we will have in 2040?
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->90% of the population aren’t real cleaners though and that’s fine. I have a 30 square meter flat. And I work full time, no pets etc. I just need something lightweight and that doesn’t need much space. Dyson is perfect for that. Just because professionals don’t use something, doesn’t mean it isn’t perfect for the average person.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I’ve got a fifteen year old Miele vacuum that could suck up a black hole and a cordless Dyson stick thing that has been absolutely fine. The Dyson one is great for everyday cleaning after the kids and the Miele is dragged around every couple of weeks for a deep clean. I also have a Henry that I got after buying the house as I wanted something to deal with the DIY mess. It does the job and is pretty robust but the Miele is much better but also cost a lot more.
r/AskUK • Hoovers. What are you using and why? ->Never thought I'd feel so strongly about a vacuum, but I love my dyson. It's the cordless stick version. After 5 years, the battery started to get weak. We just replaced that with an off brand battery and it works like new.
r/vegan • Looking for a vacuum cleaner ->Yes. I use my cordless Dyson daily for small messes and use it as my main vacuum. It’s so convenient. I love it. I also got it on sale at Costco.
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->Yes, being cordless and effective for what I need. They have HEPA filters, at least mine does. The no bag is a feature for some of us not a defect. It's all a tradeoff. For some the tradeoff for cordless, no bags, good suction, etal means we vacuum more than we otherwise would. I dont make a mess emptying it vs making a mess swapping bags - cause I overfill it. That's a me thing but it's a consistent me thing and I dont have to worry about it with the Dyson. I never would have thought I'd defend a near $1,000 cordless vacuum but I got one as a gift and will never buy anything different now.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I have the rechargeable #2 on the list Dyson stick and I LOVE IT! If you have carpeted stairs, it’s no challenge dealing with those. I live in a 2700 square foot cookie-cutter tract house. First floor is laminate with an office that has carpet. Then there’s the stairs which leads to 5 carpeted bedrooms, two tile bathrooms, a laundry room, and a walk-in carpeted closet. I can get all of that done one charge.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->> Dyson make the best cordless vacuums. Good one! As a Dyson owner I wish I'd got a Shark or Miele. Dysons are average at best.
r/newzealand • Briscoes sale - vacuum cleaner recommendations please!! ->I would never buy a Dyson if it wasn’t for Costco and their lifetime returns. We’re on our third Dyson cordless. They work well when they work, and then eventually they break. Maybe Costco gets cheap ones.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Cordless Dyson if you have hardwood floors. If our girl was ever on carpet I’d get a corded version but the run time on the cordless is sufficient and not having a cord to mess with means I actually use it
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->same here for the Shark Plug in model. the amount of dog hair / ETC it can get out of the carpet vs the Dyson Cordless cannot be compared. For purely hard wood / laminate (or very little rug or carpet) Dyson cordless stick vac is IMO is plenty. Good enough run time, and not heavy or unwieldy.
r/BuyItForLife • Can someone please recommend a good vacuum cleaner for laminate floorings? ->Literally buy it for life. Sweeping is an everyday job and with the Dyson, we vac the hard floor everyday for a few mins and get on with life. Worth the $2xx after rewards.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->Call me crazy but my Dyson is still super strong after 4 years. Once the “beater bar” stopped working in mine, called Dyson and they told me to bring it to the Dyson repair place down the street. They gave me a whole new vacuum after 10 mins because they didn’t have a matching color brush head and didn’t want to send me home with a purple and yellow vacuum. When my cordless Dyson stopped working they did the same thing. I’m pretty lucky having an actual Dyson store down the street so I’m sure my experience is better than most, but they have taken care of me.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->The sharks are half the price at least and have nearly equal weight profiles as Dyson. Dyson warranties on cordless are just as garbage as everyone else's. Really need to talk to vacuum specialists that take care of vacuums and do maintenance for years. Not reddit consumers who never clean the filters, brushes, or tracks not to mention reviewing vacuums that have only been around for a few years
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->OMG I literally live and die by my Dysons. I have one mounted on my kitchen wall and another for the second floor. I literally use them like 3x a day bc it’s so easy. I will never use a corded again lol
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->I've had my cordless Dyson for 5 years now. I can never go back. You just need to make sure you take it apart and thoroughly clean it every 6-8 months depending on use. The ease of vacuuming with it makes me despise cord vacuums. I can never go back. Imagine trying to water your plants around your entire house with a hose versus a squirt gun that put out like a hose.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I’m sorry, the cordless Dyson isn’t that great for carpet/rugs so I wouldn’t rank it that high. The attachments are excellent for their specific uses like couch/mattress, the nozzle for corners but I have the old school Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner and it’s sooo much better for rugs. Vacuum’s with cords for the win!
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I just took my cordless Dyson to the dump. Maintenance nightmare.
r/VacuumCleaners • Suggest some of the best cordless DYSON vacuums ->I work in shops, and Dyson cordless vacuums are revered. Need to vacuum up sawdust and aluminum chips and plastic shavings and metal filings? The Dyson will do it. Sharks and similar seem to break in a month or two. The power tool branded vacs are tougher but don’t work as well. The only downside is the batteries, but you can buy a DeWalt or Milwaukee adapter and never worry about it again.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->My Miele corded vacuum has lasted for over almost 15 years. Some of the attachments look worn down, but they still work very well. I also have a Roomba and a Dyson cordless vacuum, but I don’t feel like it’s a fair comparison, since battery packs degrade over time. I’ve had to replace the battery pack for the Dyson, and my Roomba seems like it runs out of juice noticeably faster than before.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->We have Dyson, Miele and Henry. Dyson cordless is the best for daily convenience but not so good for a deep clean and it's quite high maintenance with all the charging, emptying, filter washing, getting hair off the brushes etc. Miele is solid and the suction is bonkers but I wouldn't use it for building work etc as I want to keep it nice. Henry is the work horse for cleaning the log burner, mud, brick, sick. You can chuck anything at him but he falls over a lot.
r/AskUK • What is the best hoover brand that you have had/experienced? ->I have a Dyson cordless. It is amazing. Two Border Collies in the house 🤯
r/CleaningTips • Best vacuum for all floors, pet hair, and heavy duty use that is NOT bulky.
->Accurate copy of a Dyson cordless then, in my experience!
r/AskIreland • Best vacuum cleaner under €200? ->We have the shark vacuum others have mentioned, a Roomba, and a cordless Dyson 😅 I still feel like I'm struggling to keep up with dog hair. We just got a new Dyson, but the shark vacuum is 6 years old and still working fine. I do have to replace or clean the filters pretty often though. Edited to add the shark one we have is the navigator.
r/corgi • Please share your Corgi Resistant Vacuum Recommendations ->> The anti-Dyson sentiment in places like a vacuum sub always feels like sock puppets shooting them down to promote their own brand or people just being opposed to what is popular. This and "enthusiests" in any given segment will be willing to give up convenience and performance. They always miss the entire point of a dyson, which is completely convenience. I don't want to lug around a bagged vacuum, I don't want to have to plug it in, dyson retains the build & performance but makes it cordless and quiet.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->Miele is the best but for ease a dyson cordless is good - maybe the pet hair one. I have both- dyson for small jobs and Miele for big jobs. After i upgraded the dyson battery it works better than ever after 6 + years.
r/CleaningTips • Best Vacuum For Pet Hair ->They are dotted around the house: One Shark, one Dyson cordless (on its way out), one Dyson corded. I think there's a second Dyson somewhere, but I use that to suck up spiders and gravel. And a Eufy robovacmop thing. Edit: and a Vax carpet cleaner.
r/AskUK • Hoovers. What are you using and why? ->I have a cat and she sheds a lot! 😹 I used to have a Dyson but I hate to hold pressing the power button all the time. I love my LG.
r/Apartmentliving • What cordless vacuum cleaners have y'all had good luck with? ->I really wanted to love the Dyson cordless vacuums, but I couldn’t get over having to press the button down the entire time vacuuming. Plus, the stick vacuums are a bit top heavy as well so it just felt super awkward to maneuver. It could just be because my hands are super hypermobile and so it’s ridiculously uncomfortable. I’m researching other cordless/stick brands.
r/VacuumCleaners • Suggest some of the best cordless DYSON vacuums ->I love mine, a Dyson. It lives in our pantry and I use it multiple times a day. It’s definitely not meant for heavy duty vacuuming, I still like a regular old plug in one. But it’s SO nice for a quick clean up with two toddlers and a dog.
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->I bought a Dyson cordless vacuum in 2018, so far no issues but then again it’s only been going on 7 years. But I’ve been spoiled by cordless vacuuming, especially since my house was built in the 20s and has few options for outlets.
r/zuinig • Goedkope koordloze (electrische) stofzuiger tips ->I bought a Dyson cordless a few years back and the first week I had it i new it was a mistake it will only stay charged long enough for me to do one room I call Dyson and they said that was the way it was the battery only last about 15 minutes a waste of money I bought a sharp I can leave it off the charger for one day and go back the next day and it is still charged amazing how much a Dyson cost and not worth a dine and a sharp half the price and ten times better I would never recommend a duson
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->if I could jump in, my dyson just died after two years. Need a cordless vac for a three bedroom townhouse. Any recs? for tiles and wooden floors. In australia. No special needs bar some messy kids
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->Cordless Miele is worse compared to cordless Dyson. I have both.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->Dyson is average compared to miele
r/australia • Vacuum Recommendations? ->Running out of battery while you're vacuuming it so frustrating
r/australia • Vacuum Recommendations? ->4 years for a vacuum is terrible value for money ae. Expectations are so low these days for product longevity. Dyson are supposed to be the most premium vacuum, and it lasts about a year before it starts going down hill. After that you have to buy cheap Chinese battery adapter's to even use them. The filters are impossible to wash, and suction is below average.
r/australia • Vacuum Recommendations? ->Yeah I had a piece crack on my cordless Dyson when I dropped it, and they sent me a replacement no problem. While I was on the phone with them, I mentioned the battery was draining pretty fast and it wasn’t sucking as well as it used to, and they sent a new battery and filter as well. Also, it was outside the warranty period, so I was pretty happy with the customer service.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I agree. We went through two cordless Dyson vacuums in 4 years and that’s not cheap considering they were $600+ each
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I agree. We have a Dyson and it gets used every day for little spills here and there. Occasionally it’ll take it out to the car for a quick vacuum because… kids. The battery life is abysmal though. I’ve heard great things about the Shark cordless.
r/homemaking • Are cordless vacuums worth it? Have 2 kids under 3 years old, 1 story house ->hahah not sure how acurate that analogy is, but I love it. as I love my dyson, never in my life am I going back to corded vacuums
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I literally just finished vacuuming with our Miele. We have 3 kids, 2 cats and a dog and this thing is the goat. I also have one of those cordless Dysons, which are good for spot cleaning here and there, but if I run the Miele immediately after the Dyson, it still picks up dirt! They go on sale sometimes, too. I bought ours from a small local vacuum place in BC called Big Gary’s Vacuums. They were matching the sale price at Costco.
r/AskACanadian • Canadians, I need a vacuum recommendation. 😋 ->I think you have had some trauma from older vacuums regarding batteries. Modern vacuums will last double that without losing too much power. It is no different than laptops. Those batteries used to die or be useless in 3-4 years but these days 5-6 is easily achieved, same for phones, and vacuums aren't discharged and recharged nearly as often. To illustrate, my 4 year old Philips vacuum has lost 0 of its charging capabilities. And while I agree that Dyson has good suction, they are reliability nightmares. I had two. I replaced the first after 3 years because it just stopped performing and no amount of cleaning did anything to change that. The second developed the same issues in about 2 years. I managed to convince support to send me a new motor but by then I was so pissed off with the brand (expensive and unreliable are a hateful combo) that I will never buy Dyson again (much of their stuff looks fancy but are outright scams). My Philips 8000 is as mentioned 4 years old and it has lost some of its suction power but will run about 40 minutes on a charge, same as when I bought it. Not super enthusiastic about the suction performance going down in 4 years but it has been better in pretty much every way compared to the Dyson (which refused to hoover up any of the cat litter on the floor eventhough it had much better suction, and it was FAR quieter too). Never again Dyson. Look up Dyson and Scam on Youtube and watch a few vids before you buy anything.
r/CleaningTips • Whats the Best Cordless Stick Vacuum to Buy with Powerful Suction? ->My cordless Dyson lasted 3 years. Recently got a new corded vacuum not worth having to replace every 3 years vacuum cleaners should last 20
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I know vacuum fans/experts hate Dyson, but my Dyson has been working great and it actually makes me want go vacuum. I don’t like dragging a cord around. It’s easy to use, my kids can use it too, they love it and take turn to do it.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I have a lower end Miele as my main vacuum and have had it for 10 years and it is like new... however I did supplement with a Dyson cordless for awhile and it went through a battery every year and I had to replace several broken plastic bits on the cannister.... also those make a mess when you try to empty them..... No cordless vacuums are BIFL.... HOWEVER we did get a Samsung Bespoke Jet cordless vac 2 years ago and I love that thing. Pricy for a cordless but it is way better quality than the Dyson and has a charging base that also contains a vacuum/bag that sucks the dirt out of it into a bag... so completely mess-less. It also has two batteries that can be swapped in seconds like a power tool. The second battery mounts to the dock in a second charger. It is also quieter than the Dyson and the Miele.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Get yourself a quality bagless stick vac. Super convenient to use, you'll find your house way cleaner because you'll use it way more often. Dyson would be my choice.
r/VacuumCleaners • What is the best vacuum to buy of these 3 options? ->I'm on year 5 or 6 of my Dyson... biggest complaint is the battery seems to not last as long... plenty of use with pets.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->We’ve had our cordless dyson for 5 years but it’s honestly not the best compared to a rainbow or other brands at this point in its life.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Vi har Dyson batteri til daglig bruk.
->I hate my cordless Dyson and had to use the warranty 3 times in the first year. My corded one is fine.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I pull both Mieles and Dysons out of the trash. These days I only grab the cordless Dyso9ns, but in the past have done the upright models. They are usually work after cleaning up. Maybe half the cordless examples I get need a new battery.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I got Dyson and I love it. she does hard and soft floors, she’s light enough for cob webs, car cleaning, you can lower the suck so if you spill crumbs at night it’s quiet. you can get unbranded acsessories so I got alsorts of things to help clean cars, keyboards, I got clips for the tube to hold more nozzles, I got a big bendy tube so stairs is a breeze. the filters are washable, I got a load of unbranded so I can swap them out more often. any breakages you can buy most spare parts online which is super handy also you just twist the end and the rollerbar pops out which makes long hair cleaning so easy. I used to hate sitting on the floor with sicciors cutting hair off the bar. I don’t miss trailing cables or the bulk of the Hoover.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->In another life I was a Kirby service tech and I serviced machines on a number of occasions > 40-50 years old. At the time they had parts available for all machines. They ARE expensive (and the sales process leaves a lot to be desired) but are generally built like tanks. If there's a weak point, it's the fan. Even if it is Lexan, hard/heavy enough debris (eg bolts) can shatter the blades. The nice thing about the design is that instead of putting the bag inline with the fan, the bags fill from the top so it's able to maintain airflow. We have one (though it was a gift) but generally use our Dyson cordless day to day.
r/BuyItForLife • What’s the best corded vacuum of 2025??? ->Honestly as an ex appliance engineer, the cordless Dysons are great for use but terrible when something goes wrong. We used to just write them off if it was anything more than a blockage. Dyson are also very difficult to deal with to get parts etc.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I didn't mean consumer end I meant b2b they were difficult to deal with i.e. sourcing the parts for the customer and general support.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I’m surprised to see you say Dyson is difficult for parts. I’ve been buying their cordless vacs for 10+ years and any time I need a part they either overnight for free or they charge a fair price.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I’ve only had 2 over the 10+ years. Someone broke my first one and then I replaced it with a newer model.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I have a cordless dyson for 7 years. The battery crapped out halfway through but the batteries for powertools(which we have) also fits. So we use those. Now I dont know if the original battery is shit or not because I dropped the vacuum mulitple times so that might be my fault. But hey after dropping it so many times, it still works!!
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->There’s no single vac that does it all except for maybe a super heavy super expensive traditional canister like a Miele. For an everyday hard floor vac (and light carpet vac) the best is Levoit on Amazon that's about $200. It's a Dyson-like machine that overcomes a lot of the longtime design issues with Dysons (such as, it can stand up by itself -- what a concept). But we also keep the Dyson around for a more aggressive carpet vac when we need it. We also have a Eureka boss -- powerful and dependable small canister vac. And a monster shop vac in the basement. Dysons are great but they're really expensive and their air filtering system is overly complicated and tends to lose efficiency. If you own a Dyson, watch all the available Youtubes on how to clean it with pressurized air so you can keep it running. Given the competition from newer manufacturers like Levoit, I think it's going to be harder for Dyson to justify selling floor vacs for close to $1000.
r/homeowners • Best (cost/performance) vacuum cleaner? ->I just asked about how often I’d be buying bags for a sebo with two high shedding large dogs, (similar probably too a gsd and 3 (if long hair cats) I would probably be replacing the bag every week. (Actually more than that because I didn’t tell people I also have 3 cats haha) Someone with a husky commented that they replace the bag 1.5-2 times a month. Calculating that cost for two dogs is another 210 a year in bags (probably more for me) I am taking that into account with replacing a vacuum that died (Dyson) but it doesn’t have a bag or a Sebo that has a 10 year warranty but I will have probably bought 2-3 dysons in that time period with the amount I’d be spending on bags. I haven’t decided yet 🙃 but thought I’d share the numbers.
r/VacuumCleaners • Need recommendations for a decent vacuum cleaner ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
