"I live in a 2700 square foot cookie-cutter tract house. First floor is laminate with an office that has carpet. Then there’s the stairs which leads to 5 carpeted bedrooms, two tile bathrooms, a laundry room, and a walk-in carpeted closet. I can get all of that done one charge."
"You can buy third party replacement batteries. I've done that twice for my V6, which I've had for probably eight years now, maybe more. They're not expensive, either, like $28 on Amazon and they work perfectly and last for years. Replacement is easy, just one little screw that holds it in."
"Our Dyson V6 is 8+ years old and still going strong."

"being cordless and effective for what I need. ... For some the tradeoff for cordless, no bags, good suction, etal means we vacuum more than we otherwise would. ... I never would have thought I'd defend a near $1,000 cordless vacuum but I got one as a gift and will never buy anything different now."
"I ’ve been spoiled by cordless vacuuming, especially since my house was built in the 20s and has few options for outlets."

"The out of warranty repair cost was 75% of what a new one would cost so I chucked it."
"The Dyson battery was internal so you can't swap out a battery if it dies on you."
"I had the stick and the ball versions and both barely lasted a year"

"the amount of dog hair / ETC it can get out of the carpet vs the Dyson Cordless cannot be compared."
"the cordless Dyson isn’t that great for carpet/rugs ... I have the old school Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner and it’s sooo much better for rugs"

"I hate to hold pressing the power button all the time."
"I couldn’t get over having to press the button down the entire time vacuuming."
I love my $150 Dyson V6 fluffy from 2018...in spite of its poorly designed dust bin emptying system...and the fact that if I run it on max power all the time, it will die in 5 or 6 minutes and my battery will need to be replaced every 2 years... But that fluffy head is the bee's knees on hard surfaces! I just use it on low power, after getting a warranty replacement battery right before the 2 or 3 year warranty ran out, and I don't use the wall mount anymore (maybe continuous charging zapped the battery?) - and I will keep it until it completely bites the dust! Then I'll get a new fluffy with the better designed bin. Yes, recommend - don't charge it all the time and don't use max power often and you'll be golden. Also, Dyson will price match on their site typically...and give you free accessories...
r/CleaningTips • Are Dyson vacuums really worth it? V11 is now under $400 and I'm tempted ->I’ve had my V6 Absolute for 10 years. It’s my main floor vacuum and I have 3 young children, so it gets a lot of use. The only thing I’ve had to replace was the battery in 2021. I bought a knock-off battery on Amazon, and she’s still purring.
r/CleaningTips • Are Dyson vacuums really worth it? V11 is now under $400 and I'm tempted ->I love my Dysons, I know this sub reddit hates them but if you get them on sale it's a great value. I've been using the stick vacs since the v6 and never had a issue...
r/VacuumCleaners • Alternatives to Dyson ->I used to work at a local vac shop in Ottawa Ontario. We used to get a lot of refurbished V6s, V7s and V8s, mind you this was like 8 years ago. I got myself a V6 for upstairs ( It was like $180) and a V8 for the living room and that was about $230. i dont even know if Dyson still does the Refurbs, they still come with a one year warranty if i remember. After the one year warranty is up i would use the 3rd party batteries for the Dysons. Its cheaper and you can get 2 some times. I also got a refub Miele cannister and my wife can tell quickly if i vaccumed with the Miele instead of the Dysons. You need to have the power on high for the Dysons to suck as good as the canisters, but it kills the battery stupid quick.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->I've had my Dyson v6 for 6 years now. 1 batter change was needed only.
r/VacuumCleaners • DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this) ->I've read enough posts here to know that a cordless vac will never complete with a corded unit. I've had my Miele Capricorn for years and love it, and we also have a Roborock robot that for whatever reason I really only use to vacuum and mop the kitchen daily. I've had a Dyson v6 around for years for quick clean ups, kitty litter spills etc but it's getting pretty worn. I've been tempted to grab a refurb Dyson v8/10 \~$200, but I know Dyson sucks (or doesn't suck to be more accurate...) What else should I be looking at for a cordless vac that preferably won't end up with my wifes long hair or cat hair wrapped around the roller constantly?
r/VacuumCleaners • Good cordless vac to supplement my Miele and Roborock? ->This. I have a Milwaukee M18 8amp battery on my v6 Dyson and I usually have to empty my canister before a recharge. There's also a lot of cool fake parts for Dyson v6s. The knockoff batteries are fine but they only last a couple of years.
r/BuyItForLife • Stick Vacuum Recs (Hardwood floors only) ->I think we have the Dyson v6 and it’s rubbish. Cant comment on the more expensive models but I think it will piss you off if the shark does.
r/BabyBumpsandBeyondAu • Best stick vacuums?! ->I’ve got a Miele wired vacuum I’ve owned 10+ years and gone through 3 Dyson cordless in that time. They’re handy to quickly pick up dirt etc but definitely not BIFLish. My Dyson v6 is starting to do that dreaded on and off pulsing thing I’ve had before and replacing battery and filters and cleaning with air compressor etc have done nothing.
r/BuyItForLife • Best Dyson Cordless Vacuum? ->That’s what I thought, too. Here’s my math on that: I spent $1k on my Sebo in March. I added up the cost of the 3 Dyson vacuums( I’ve had since 2017) and the parts I’ve had to replace = I should have bought a Sebo sooner. Models I’m literally placing on the curb tomorrow for whoever wants them. I’ve had it with Dyson’s cheap plastic crap: The upright Dyson (2021), V6 (2017) replaced with V11 (2022). All have had their brush heads replaced. 2 of the 3 are broken again. Not sure what’s wrong with the upright, again. We don’t even use them heavily, I have cleaners in once every 2 weeks. It’s absurd.
