dyson v8 animal. yes it's more expensive than the random brands but i've had mine for 4 years with two shedding dogs and it still works like day one. the suction actually grabs the hair instead of doing that weird swirling thing where it just redistributes everything. worth every penny imo
Dyson V8 Animal Extra - traditional Roborock QX Revo with mop - robot vacuum with mop The Dyson is wall mounted and the Roborock takes up large placemat size of floorspace.
I've had very good results with a factory refurbished Dyson v8 Animal stick vacuum off EBay.
A battery lasts me about 2-2.5 years with fairly heavy use. Third party replacements are about half of price of the Dyson ones. It works very well for me with two constantly shedding cats. I got my brother a refurbed v8 for his birthday this year and he's having great results as well.
I had a Dyson V8 Animal + for 5 years, but I'm not happy with the building quality and battery life. Are there any cordless stick vacuums on the market with a good building quality and battery life? How are the newer models like Samsung Bespoke Jet Plus, Miele Triflex HX2, ...? I dont want a Dyson anymore.
My Dyson v8 animal lasted long for 9 years, same issue, battery didn’t last more than 5 min, and original spares were impossible to find; I have replaced it for another Dyson gen detect, so far I’m happy with my purchase , I hope it lasts same as its predecessor :)
An original battery. I found batteries in Amazon that did the trick for a month or two and the just died. All the rest of the spares were available in Amazon (but I only needed filters to be honest, so I’m happy that the endurance of all the pieces , according to my experience and heavy use - 2 cats at home, use at least 1x day - was more than correct . After all , I don’t expect a battery to live forever , and only was a problem at the end of the 8th year
Hey! I also have ADHD and a lot of difficulty with executive functioning, so I feel you and I get how overwhelming even a small inconvenience can be. Most vacuums, especially cordless, will require maintenance so it's hard to find one that would be fully maintenance-free. Before working in vacuum reviews, I got the V8 Animal, and honestly it's great for what I need. I've maintained it a lot less than I should have, but it's still kicking and maintenance is pretty simple. The one issue is the battery life, which can degrade over time, so I got a cordless drill battery attachment which allowed me to use my existing drill batteries once the Dyson one degraded. Dyson sells the V8 absolute variant refurbished for 209.99USD which comes with the fluffy roller, and those tend to work best on most hard floors. (You can find the refurbished models under the "Dyson Renewed" tab on their website. That being said, like Shark, there are people who mention that they aren't the most reliable. Unfortunately, that price range for cordless really limits the options for reliable stick vacs. For a non-Dyson and brand-new option that's a bit over your budget, look into the LG CordZero A9 (249USD), it's similar to the Dyson in terms of maintenance (actually a bit easier), but its washable filter does need to be periodically replaced. (it's 11.54USD and LG doesn't mention a timeline on how frequent it needs to be replaced). One thing that was a life changer for me was a robot vacuum with mopping, so I'd definitely recommend it as a future investment and for accessibility. There's more frequent maintenance (usually no more than 5-10 minutes a few times a week), but the fact that I don't have to do the vacuuming and mopping tasks at all makes up for it 10-fold. My floors have never been as clean as they have with a robovac (with a monthly deep clean with my stick vac). There aren't any in your price range that I would recommend right now, but I would definitely say to look out for one during major sales like black friday or prime day. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about them in the future too! TL;DR: Dyson V8 Absolute Refurbished is a good option and close to you 200$ budget, for a brand-new and non-Dyson option the LG CordZero A9 is at 249USD on amazon. Both should get the job done and be easy enough to maintain and convenient to pull out when needed.
