I second the central vac. I just left mine behind when we moved house (I’ve had one in two of my homes) and I miss it so much. It was 20 years old and still going strong. I just bought a dyson at costco and after one week I already know it’s going back. Even on full charge at the highest suction the battery lasts 7 minutes!!! What the actual…who vacumes for 7 minutes? I hate it and can’t wait to get a new central vac installed in my new home.
My experience with Dyson was not good. Purchased 4 from Costco. One battery failure, one canister seal broke after a month. The laser fluffy head was taking the finish off some of the beveled edges of my less than 2 year old hardwood floors. Looking at other cordless, none of them had a brush head I would trust with my wood floors. My other vacs are a very old but reliable Electrolux Epic 8000, and a newly purchased Sebo K3. The floor brushes with horsehair bristles are the only thing I can trust to not damage my hickory floors. Or a swiffer.
We have a cordless Dyson we got cbeal in Costco. I'm sure there are better brand but it's useful, and small and has decent tools. We also have a Shark robot vacuum (also cheap from Costco) and I love him.
There are vac/mops that vacuum while you mop like the Bissell Crosswave and Tineco iFloor combos. These mostly only mop and cannot dry vacuum floors, carpets, or do anything above the floor. Among the cordless vac/mops I only recommend machines with removable and replaceable batteries because the battery is such a common failure and wear item. The Hoover Onepwr Streamline and Ryobi Swift Clean are the only vac/mops that are decent and have removable batteries. The Dyson V9 with the Submarine mop attachment is a dry cordless stick vacuum good for all around vacuuming with a mop attachment. The mop attachment mops but doesn’t vacuum at the same time so you need to dry vacuum first and then mop. Vac/mops require a lot of cleanup after each use. Dyson’s submarine also is quite messy and requires a lot of cleanup after each use. Personally I would choose a decent cordless stick vacuum like a Dyson V8 or a LG CordZero and get a good manual mop like a O’Cedar Spin Mop or a good reusable spray mop. Both mop better than the Submarine and are less cleanup than a vacuum/mop. There are lots of choices. Hope that helps.
Dyson from Costco. Return and replace when it dies.
They’ll take anything back for any reason anytime. We bought a cordless in 2019, it died in 2024 and we took it back and got a new one.
I got one and did a deep dive into it after It’s a Costco specific model that builds on their smaller “lite” version of a vacuum and also comes with a wet floor cleaner head The vacuum works pretty good but it’s such a small dust bin
This is what just swayed me...got it last night, should I take it out of the box or return?
PS it's my first Dyson, first more expensive vacuum purchase.
Dyson pets v8 or V9 I think . Been using for 8 months and it’s great
