I agree, the unfamiliar brands are cheap, break quickly, and have no parts support. Don't buy them. There are several vacuums right above $150 that are worth checking out. The HART 20-Volt High Capacity Cordless Stick Vacuum Kit $149 is a rebadged Hoover Onepwr Evolve, the Hart batteries are compatible with other Hart vacuums but not with Hoovers. Hoover Onepwr Emerge Essentials $178 and Samsung Jet 60 Flex $188 (both at walmart) and Hoover Onepwr Evolve Pet Elite and Hand Vac $199 (home depot). All the batteries will wear out in 2-3 years. If you just want a small lightweight vacuum the corded Kenmore Intuition BU4022 $149 will outclean any cordless vacuum.
I found walmart has a sale on the Hoover Onepwr Emerge for $95 which I would get if you have carpet or the Hoover Onepwr Emerge Pet with All Terrain Dual Brushroll for $89 if you have hard floors. I really like that these Hoovers have replaceable and swappable batteries. Please don't vacuum baking soda, it clogs filters and kills motors.
Dysons clean well, but their limited battery time, battery life and price will keep me from getting another one. Plus, you have to always keep your finger on the power button. Except for the heavier weight, I much prefer my Hoover ONEPWR stick vac, because I can immediately put in another battery when the one I am using runs out; a red battery light comes on when the battery is about to run out; the batteries recharge fast with the newer chargers; it picks up just as well, if not better, than the Dyson; and it doesn't cost anywhere near as much.
Well, the reason I believe for having to always hold the trigger down is so the battery doesn't run out as quickly, since you will always be actively vacuuming when the trigger is pressed. I use the high setting because the lower one does not pick up as well, and I have to go over the area again. On one charge I can only vacuum a carpeted staircase with a center platform. I don't live in a small house. Dyson ends up being more like only for the stairs and as a quick pickup vac. Thanks for all the trouble in providing the links, but I'm not looking to make my Dyson more useful. I just use the Hoover instead when the Dyson is dead, or when I know I need to vaccuum for quite a while. I will not buy another Dyson.
I like the Hoover ONEPWR vacs. Theycan be used on floors and carpets. When the battery dies, you can just replace it with another battery. All the ONEPWR vacs use the same batteries. The newer chargers charge pretty quick, too.
I have a Hoover onepwr with a bag, wireless and it’s excellent
