It’s great! Not sure of it’s availability in Canada.

I'd go with the Kenmore, the others are really going to struggle to lift pet hair and dirt from the rugs.

Ah ok, that one still has a motorized brush head and will suit your needs better than the other two I think.

Kenmore Elite bagged upright, Kenmore 600 Series canister, Kenmore 200 Series canister. I’d personally use a Kirby Avalir with the firm brush roll. You can buy Kirby vacs for cheap on the used market. Get one, get it serviced at a Kirby store, and it will pull out a crap ton of embedded fur. It’s insane how much dirt they pull out after ordinary vacuums. If you have to buy new, though, Kenmore is like the only budget brand that has halfway decent quality.

We have Huskies and carpet. The right tool for the job is a canister vacuum with a good power nozzle. Getting that for $200 or less gets pretty close to mission impossible, but Kohls has a special on the Kenmore 200 series canister. This is a very basic machine but the power nozzle is the same one sold with higher priced Kennys, and is sold by Cen-Tech for central vacuum systems. I am using one today as a matter of fact. It does the job and works very well removing dog hair from carpet. Tips. This basic Kenny comes with a paper C bag and a foam pre-motor filter. Toss both. Always use a genuine Kenmore brand synthetic microfiber HEPA rated Q dust bag. These have enough power to pop the paper C bag. It is ugly when that happens. Stick to the Q bag. Also only use genuine Kenmore bags. They have a thicker mounting card and don't leak dust. Off brand are cheap and leak dust. Now replace the foam premotor filter with a Kenmore CF-1 HEPA filter. With that and the Q bag you have the same filtration as an expensive Miele at a bargain price. You also have equivalent cleaning power to a Miele. If you don't abuse it this vacuum should give you over ten years of faithful service. I have a 42 year old Kenny we still use. They are decent vacuums and the current price at Kohls is very very good.

In your situation with pet hair and mostly hard floors, a canister style machine would be the best fit. A powered floor head is likely needed since your rugs are probably packed with embedded pet hair since cordless vacuums, especially Shark, are very ineffective in cleaning them. For the actual hard flooring a more simple floor head without a brush roll will work best. The Kenmore 200 series gets really close to that $200 price point (currently $220 on Amazon) and may even come down in price with upcoming holiday sales. It includes the floor heads you need to get things clean. The Kenmore canisters are probably the best value around at the moment and will blow any cordless vacuum out of the water. Far better suction, agitation, capacity, versatility and filtration.

They're the same machine. Vacuums marketed as "pet" vacuums typically just have a paw print stamped on them and sometimes a slightly different accessory set, performance is identical otherwise.

Yes, the 200 Series is still the model that will meet your needs. It is still a canister vacuum with hepa bags and a carpet powerhead. The difference is the cord is a little shorter and the power cable for the powerhead is clipped to the wand instead of covered.

With majority carpeting, a need for allergy relief, and a budget you'll absolutely need a bagged upright vacuum cleaner. You could use the upholstery tool to clean your couch with a hose attachment. You should check out the auto-mod suggestion list for vacuums in your price point with the characteristics you need: corded, bagged, brushroll shutoff, higher grade cloth filtration available. Bags are superior to bagless vacs not only in the emptying phase but throughout the life of the machine. You don't need to wash or clean a bagged vac or its parts (other than the brushroll). The bags are part of the overall filtration system resulting in cleaner air. Bags protect the motor allowing the machine to last longer. Bagless vacuums need regular (3 monthly) deep cleanings of their shrouds and filters to maintain power and to live longer than 5 years. They must also be emptied frequently which in your outdoor emptying situation is annoying. Bags compact months of dust into dense nuggets, completely trapped and sealed My go-to suggestions of Miele or Sebo electro canisters absolutely do not fit with the budget, apologies. Kenmore canister vacuums fall perfectly within your budget and slightly above depending on the model. They're not as robust as Mieles or Sebos but are powerful with good filtration and can at least last a decade with care. I think a Kenmore 200 canister would be the perfect choice for your scenario and budget. A Kenmore 600 canister would also offer you an electric mini tool to clean per hair off the couch or other upholstery. I also just prefer canister vacuums for their flexibility, ease of use, quieter operation, and generally better longevity.

I'd personally get the Miele and use the upholstery tool on the stairs but it's really impossible to deny the sweet sweet satisfaction of an electric carpet tool in the pet powermate from a Kenmore. If you're gonna get an area rug ever or move to a place with carpets within the next 10 years I'd say get the Kenmore (or get an electro Miele used for the same price!). Overall id recommend an electro canister over non electro, but cannot stress enough how distressful it is for me to not push for buying the Miele only bc it's pure suction! The Miele centennial C1 from PCRichard is $650 and comes with Mieles small electric carpet tool which is nice on stairs, but you'd want to buy the Parquet twister separately. Similarly the C3 excellence model comes with the seb217 electric carpet tool (compact and good for stairs) and the combo tool for hard floors, and is about $750.

A canister with hepa filtration, long hose, and all of the attachments. My parents had a kenmore canister that was great for many years.

I'm a fan of the Kenmore canister vacuums. I got mine as a hand me down, and it lasted 10 years before I donated it because my wife had her own vacuum, and she vacuums way more than me. I think my dad still had the one that I used as a child. I think it is pushing 50 years old.

We have a shark at work that my boss is obsessed with even though it can’t clean for crap…. To show her I brought in my old Kenmore canister and filled the bag full in one pass of our building. I’ve tried all of them and a nice garage sale or curb side Kenmore canister has always been the best bang for the buck 😂

You might like a Kenmore canister vac, the power head is super light and they have wands so you can reach places more easily. Also changing the bag is really easy, and you are only moving the hose around not the weight of the whole machine. Figuring out where to place the canister might be tricky, probably beside your chair on dominant side is best, and you can pull it behind you through doorways. The newer models, the handle is a loop, so you don't have to grip it all that well to use it, and they are strong and quiet. My grandma used a wheelchair a lot in her older years because she fell so frequently, and she had one. Worked pretty good for her because with the hose she could sweep a pretty good sized area without navigating the chair too much. She would stick the canister under the chair and put her foot on it so as she moved the chair, it moved with her. They go under tables and stuff really easily too, and you can actually stick your foot in that loop handle to get under low beds and furniture so you don't have to bend and risk tipping the chair.

You're welcome! They're not really all that expensive, and I think you would really like it. They used to come with separate hard floor brushes which are really nice for pet hair/food/accidental broken glass, etc. I haven't seen one in a store for years, but when we had a sears/Kmart in my town people bought those ALL the time. My mom still has her original one, from 1982 😂. It's absolutely had a hard life and seen better days, it's delegated to their finished basement these days, but surprisingly it still works pretty damn good!

We have a Kenmore canister also. It is what we use when we want to make sure the floor is clean. We have a Roomba and a stick vacuum, but the power alone in this pushing 13 year old vacuum is incredible. One of the best things about this vacuum is the filter and bag system. My wife has horrible allergies and this keeps all the dust/pollen/etc from going in to the air when cleaning. Yeah it’s a pain to lug around d sometimes, but there is no compare to a stick or Roomba. Hell the only two things I replaced on it is a belt (which is a consumable) and a wheel on the head that got damaged when we moved. Hands down it has been an awesome vacuum, and would recommend it 100%

I'm shocked Kenmore bagged canisters aren't more popular. Ours has been an absolute workhorse for over a decade and it's still strong as hell

That’s a tough budget tbh. You need something corded and bagged (contrary to what you might think, a bagged vacuum actually compresses the fur as opposed to bagless which actually fluffs up the fur, so you won’t be burning through a bag every vacuum session. It should last you at least 1-2 months. If you can stretch a little, a Kenmore 600 series pop and go. The pet powermate is worth the premium alone. It amazing with fur on upholstery.
