Kenmore BC3006. This is a bagged, corded machine with detangling technology (good for dealing with pet hair) and HEPA filtration. Since it has 2 motors (suction and brush roll) it should be good for deep cleaning carpets/rugs. Fairly light weight (19 lbs), so pretty easy to take up/down stairs. And it's in your budget.

Bagged is the way to go. Bagless is a mess as the container is constantly being soiled by all the stuff you vacuum up. So, it's one more thing you have to clean instead of replacing a bag. Maybe you don't do that and just open the unit and dump, I guess. Yes, occasionally I have to tear a bag open to retrieve a sock or lego action figure. But when I have to do this, it's still separate from digging into a waste container also needing to be wiped down of gunk. I would choose a wired separate canister vacuum like Kenmore BC3006 400. Has a motor head for carpet and another head for hardwood floors. I like that I don't carry the weight of the vacuum like an upright. Also, the low profile hose and head can go under most furniture. Plenty of suction.

I have a Kenmore canister and the Panasonic equivalent both for 25+ years running fine. Nothing has every broken so parts are no concern. Just replaced the filters every 10 years or when my brain reminds me :D.

Sorry, you don't want corded canister. We've had 2 Kenmore canisters for 25 years, 2 story, 2500 sq ft. and they work wonderfully.

r/VacuumCleanersI just wanted a better vacuum and now I went down the rabbit hole of this sub. What is an actual good vacuum for under 500$, possibly on sale today?

I own 2 regular kenmore corded canister bag vacuums bought for \~$320 each. The vacuum rolls around following you. They have a beater head for carpet and another for hardwood. Nothing fancy, but both heads and arms go flat to allow you to vacuum under furniture. The suction is scary strong and they have not had any problems for the past 20 years. They will try and suck up anything in or near their path.

r/VacuumCleanersWhy is it so hard to come to a consensus about the best vacuum cleaners?

Just don't by a stick one - useless. Get either an upright or a canister corded one - maximum real suction power. I have 2 canister corded vacuums, Kenmore and Panasonic, one for each floor level of our home. Work perfect for hardwood and carpeted.

r/VacuumCleanersCan you help me find a vacuum cleaner that’s moderately affordable?

Just get a regular canister Kenmore or Panasonic vacuum. All those stick and battery vacuums are gimmicks. $300-$500 dollars, will last you forever. Maximum suction, 30' retracting cord, HEPA bag - hose arm and head will go under furniture. I have 2 story home with hardwood and cat. Amazing how much dander a single cat can generate in a day. I vacuum every couple days when I see that thin layer on the floor. Cat's 7 years old, vacuum is 22 years old.

Omg I just realized I was thinking about the Prolux Phantom upright and you are probably talking about the Prolux Phantom canister. It used to be called the Prolux Terravac canister. Ok so my first comment was about how I'm unipressed by the Prolux Phantom Upright. The Prolux Phantom canister vacuum is a bit more favorable. I like the choice of powerheads, the full size hard floor brush, the hepa bags, and the hepa filter. I've seen the Phantom Canister Deep Cleaning Pet for $299. If you have high pile or plush carpets the Phantom Canister Deluxe Carpet $399 has carpet height adjustment. Overall these are small canisters with good carpet powerheads. Downside is a short hose but the hose is really not bad for the price range. The Kenmore 400 Series or BC3005 $225 should be the minimum for Kenmore canisters. The 200 Series has a clip on cord on the wand, a shorter cord, and no suction control. Downsides are Kenmore 400 Series and most of Kenmore's canisters powerhead turn but there's no steering control, the hard floor brush is small and narrow, and the bags don't have a rubber gasket to create a good seal. Kenmores are very capable at cleaning carpets and a very good value but I like the Prolux canisters a little better.

r/VacuumCleanerswhat vacuum to invest in for longer carpet and pet hair?

For longer/plush/high pile carpets you really want a vacuum with carpet height adjustment so it doesn't get stuck or stall on the carpets. For pet and human hair I recommend a brushroll that is wider and easy to remove for cleaning. Short pet hair doesn't really get wrapped on the brushroll but long human hair will. You don't have to get a Sebo or Miele but they will be quieter and last longer 15-20 years, so you pay more up front. If you want a cheaper vacuum $200-300 they can clean just as well but they will be louder and last 5-10 years. U.S. Sebos and Mieles cost more because on top of shipping and import fees they have electric carpet powerheads. The Miele doesn't offer electric powerheads except for the U.S. and Canada. You don't want to import a vacuum from Europe because the plug and motor will not work with our electrical systems. The Sebo E3 and Miele C3 Cat & Dog are both very good for carpet and hard floors. The Sebo K3 and Miele C1 Cat & Dog are just as effective and long lasting but cost less because they are older models with a few less features. If you want something cheaper, Kenmore Elite Upright and Kenmore 400/600 Series Canister vacuums clean as well, but they won't last as long. I recommend the Sebo E3 because the brushroll is removable without needing any tools, which makes it faster to clean off hair wrap. Be sure to try the Miele and Sebo vacuums at a local store first. Many people don't like how canisters manuever and that can be a deal breaker. The Sebo Felix is a popular upright vacuum that's also less expensive than the E3.

r/VacuumCleanersWhy such high vacuum requirements but want to pay under $150-$200 USD?

There is no such thing as a “self cleaning brushroll” without compromising something. Hair still wraps in the bearings and that’s where the damage really happens. Most self cleaning brushrolls compromise on deep cleaning. The best brushroll for hair wrap is the SEBO cassette design With the variety of flooring and needs, I’m thinking a Kenmore 200 or 400 series might be your best bet. Bagged vacuums have more airflow, lower maintenance, better filtration, etc. pet hair compacts in the bags. With so many different needs, I think this might be the best bet for $200. The difference between the 200 and 400 are an adjustable wand, the power switch is on the handle, adjustable suction, and better filtration.

Kenmore is your best bet. I’m not a fan of the 200 series (although it cleans well) it’s very compromised (short cord and hose). Look at the 400 series or 600 series if you can catch it on a sale. Or a Kenmore Intuition BU4050 if you like uprights.

Yep you’re on the right track. If you can get the carpet out first, you could do a simplicity Jill (it’s better built than the mighty mite) neither of these will do carpet well. Or if not grab a Kenmore 200/400 series.

Any of the Kenmore canisters will be good. The 600 series Pop n Go and the 400 series are both solid models.

If you’re looking for lower budget the Kenmore 400/600 series canister or higher end, Sebo K3 or Miele C1 Cat Dog. Kenny’s will last for a 5/7 years, especially if you take of them. Their German counterparts will get you more like 20 years with proper care.

I always recommend the 400 over the 600. The parts are all the same from the older kenmores so it makes finding parts way easier if ever need be. That said the 600 should still have the spot on the back of the canister where you can hang / dock the power head for storage with the hose and wand attached.

What I was just going to suggest. It's a huge part of the reason I love them.

r/homeownersWhat’s the best vacuum that actually lasts more than a year?

Kemoore 400 is damn near as high quality as Miele. I run a cleaning business. My girls have been breaking my Miele vacuums like crazy. 1200-1800 dollar vacuums I have to tear down and fix one a week. They lost a hose for one of my C3s, a new hose was $259. They broke a stick, that was $185. New hardwood head, $95. The kenmoore is $220 with everything. Bags cost $12 for 8 vs $50. It’s slightly louder, but not that much just a different tone. You can still talk with it running. If we lose or break something, it’s cheaper to buy a new one and use the parts. Or we can buy replacement parts for less than a 1/4 the cost. The vacuums weigh the same, function the same, quality is there for a tenth of the price. Will they last 20 years like a Miele should, maybe time will tell. But for commercial use, vacuuming 10 hrs a day 5-7 days a week in 30 plus homes a week. Dogs, cats, dust, dirt whatever, it crushes it.

r/CatAdviceCan someone recommend me some a good vacuum to buy that can actually handle my 3 cats hair?!

i've explored r/VacuumCleaners a lot for this exact reason and the bare minimum for carpet is the kenmore 400 canister vacuum. you might be able to get away with the kenmore bu4050 upright for low pile, but i can't guarantee you're ever going to actually get any carpet clean without the power head. if you can go a little further than the kenmore, i strongly recommend a henry!

I have an old Kenmore canister (I don’t know the model) bought in 1977 that we still use and still works pretty well (47 years later!) Just bought a Kenmore 400 series as a gift and I hope it lasts half as long!
