Ignore the purple one from walmart, its the same price as the orange one on amazon, but comes with fewer and worse small attachments. It's not a good deal. The main difference between the two on Amazon is the blue one has a variable suction adjustment built into the handle. This let's you lower the suction motor down, for cleaning throw rugs, dusting drapes, etc. Or allows it to vacuum really dense rugs. Really underrated feature imo. The orange one on Amazon is mostly the same minus the suction adjustment. Personally I'd get the blue one off Amazon but if you don't think the suction adjustment would be useful, the orange one is fine.
Ah sorry, the purple one on Amazon is the 600 series. It's a bit larger and more capable, with more attachments than the 200. It sort of goes like this, 200 orange is most basic, then the 200 series blue, then the purple 600, then the silver top of the line one. What kinds of floors are you looking to clean? This will determine how much a miele or sebo would run you for your situation.
First of all, your dog is so cute. This [Kenmore Intuition](https://a.co/d/iQJvWFv) would work well. This [Kenmore Canister](https://a.co/d/90JfCNM) would do well, too. It cleans carpets, it has attachments, and it’s under budget. These two vacuums are for cleaning carpets only (no attachments) but they’re under budget and would work well. [Oreck XL](https://a.co/d/9aA1IX6) [Kaercher Ranger](https://www.kaercher.com/us/commercial/vacuum-cleaners/upright/ranger-10129000.html) Between those two, I would choose the Kaercher because the brushroll pops out easily to clean it. Just noting that a difference between bagged and bagless vacuums is that bagless vacuums volumize dirt and debris, so you have to empty the bin after every clean. A bagged vacuum compacts the dirty and hair so you don’t need to change the bags until after a few months, most likely.
If you can stretch the budget to the Kenmore you linked this [Kenmore 400 Series](https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/kenmore-400-series-hepa-multi-surface-bagged-corded-canister-vacuum-14-in-14a-0439474p.html?rq=canister+vacuums) $299 CAD it's definitely worth it over the other 2 vacuums. The bagged vacuum will last longer and be much cleaner to empty, you only need to change the bag once every 2-3 months. The powerhead will clean your rugs better and it has height adjustment so it might be able to work on the shag with the brushroll on, if it gets caught just use it with the brushroll off. The 200 Series and 400 Series are closely related with the 400 Series coming with a covered powerhead cable, slightly longer cord, and sometimes suction control. The Kenmore you linked is an orange 400 Series, while in the U.S. most of the orange canisters are only 200 Series.
Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot usually don't have any quality vacuums in-store. I think it's well worth waiting a few days for a much better vacuum to be delivered. Around $300 I'd choose the [Kenmore BC3005/400 Series Canister](https://www.amazon.com/Kenmore-Friendly-Lightweight-Telescoping-Retractable/dp/B08M36B5JZ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1LIN73WN60Q7U&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.8ewF-JMcxGUJ0_bJKD7ZQawRw6pGpO5OqeApeQnrzJVixousGI7XFMmJYWgqPSMdOfLQVxtKW8mvL7fqqWDuU0OxsMALT5P9LSR7Kj7TwLJ6y02PCX-1rOub2dkSuAFrWKxtyNqwBnMBkLHpNHeS74DFEgjiTjwmJtv6tLH5Z9cIKfVJcD6kkFBUVjukEGxJCgp01yAPyB3iAnMIc-p48IZiKIYck6Fy_2yxe3qOtt0.oaUnR4UjlFHOP9LBRtFDoHqx5BK8KC8OrxgAOOr-MgI&dib_tag=se&keywords=kenmore%2Bvacuum&qid=1739653359&sprefix=kenmore%2Bvacuum%2Caps%2C209&sr=8-4&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.5998aa40-ec6f-4947-a68f-cd087fee0848&th=1) $248 or the [Kenmore Elite Upright](https://www.amazon.com/Kenmore-Allergy-Friendly-Beltless-Upright/dp/B075DZY7FR/ref=sr_1_9?crid=1LIN73WN60Q7U&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.8ewF-JMcxGUJ0_bJKD7ZQawRw6pGpO5OqeApeQnrzJVixousGI7XFMmJYWgqPSMdOfLQVxtKW8mvL7fqqWDuU0OxsMALT5P9LSR7Kj7TwLJ6y02PCX-1rOub2dkSuAFrWKxtyNqwBnMBkLHpNHeS74DFEgjiTjwmJtv6tLH5Z9cIKfVJcD6kkFBUVjukEGxJCgp01yAPyB3iAnMIc-p48IZiKIYck6Fy_2yxe3qOtt0.oaUnR4UjlFHOP9LBRtFDoHqx5BK8KC8OrxgAOOr-MgI&dib_tag=se&keywords=kenmore%2Bvacuum&qid=1739653359&sprefix=kenmore%2Bvacuum%2Caps%2C209&sr=8-9&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.5998aa40-ec6f-4947-a68f-cd087fee0848&th=1) $279. Both have carpet height adjustment and brushroll shutoff so they can do both hard floors and carpets and rugs. The Kenmore BC3005 has a longer flexible hose and will have a very lightweight hard floor brush, but some people dislike how canisters move. The Kenmore Elite is a very good carpet cleaner and it's not too heavy to push, but it's very heavy to lift up. Kenmore makes affordable bagged vacuums that should last around 5+ years. If you want a BIFL vacuum I'd check out the [Sebo Dart](https://sebo.us/product/dart) MSRP $599 (usually on sale $549). The Sebo Dart is a very well built vacuum. It's powerful and quieter than the average vacuum. But it's top heavy and the hose is short.
For longer/plush/high pile carpets you really want a vacuum with carpet height adjustment so it doesn't get stuck or stall on the carpets. For pet and human hair I recommend a brushroll that is wider and easy to remove for cleaning. Short pet hair doesn't really get wrapped on the brushroll but long human hair will. You don't have to get a Sebo or Miele but they will be quieter and last longer 15-20 years, so you pay more up front. If you want a cheaper vacuum $200-300 they can clean just as well but they will be louder and last 5-10 years. U.S. Sebos and Mieles cost more because on top of shipping and import fees they have electric carpet powerheads. The Miele doesn't offer electric powerheads except for the U.S. and Canada. You don't want to import a vacuum from Europe because the plug and motor will not work with our electrical systems. The Sebo E3 and Miele C3 Cat & Dog are both very good for carpet and hard floors. The Sebo K3 and Miele C1 Cat & Dog are just as effective and long lasting but cost less because they are older models with a few less features. If you want something cheaper, Kenmore Elite Upright and Kenmore 400/600 Series Canister vacuums clean as well, but they won't last as long. I recommend the Sebo E3 because the brushroll is removable without needing any tools, which makes it faster to clean off hair wrap. Be sure to try the Miele and Sebo vacuums at a local store first. Many people don't like how canisters manuever and that can be a deal breaker. The Sebo Felix is a popular upright vacuum that's also less expensive than the E3.
There is no such thing as a “self cleaning brushroll” without compromising something. Hair still wraps in the bearings and that’s where the damage really happens. Most self cleaning brushrolls compromise on deep cleaning. The best brushroll for hair wrap is the SEBO cassette design With the variety of flooring and needs, I’m thinking a Kenmore 200 or 400 series might be your best bet. Bagged vacuums have more airflow, lower maintenance, better filtration, etc. pet hair compacts in the bags. With so many different needs, I think this might be the best bet for $200. The difference between the 200 and 400 are an adjustable wand, the power switch is on the handle, adjustable suction, and better filtration.
Kenmore is your best bet. I’m not a fan of the 200 series (although it cleans well) it’s very compromised (short cord and hose). Look at the 400 series or 600 series if you can catch it on a sale. Or a Kenmore Intuition BU4050 if you like uprights.
Yep you’re on the right track. If you can get the carpet out first, you could do a simplicity Jill (it’s better built than the mighty mite) neither of these will do carpet well. Or if not grab a Kenmore 200/400 series.
The Kenmore 400 is a solid model.
Any of the Kenmore canisters will be good. The 600 series Pop n Go and the 400 series are both solid models.

If you’re looking for lower budget the Kenmore 400/600 series canister or higher end, Sebo K3 or Miele C1 Cat Dog. Kenny’s will last for a 5/7 years, especially if you take of them. Their German counterparts will get you more like 20 years with proper care.
I always recommend the 400 over the 600. The parts are all the same from the older kenmores so it makes finding parts way easier if ever need be. That said the 600 should still have the spot on the back of the canister where you can hang / dock the power head for storage with the hose and wand attached.
What I was just going to suggest. It's a huge part of the reason I love them.
Kemoore 400 is damn near as high quality as Miele. I run a cleaning business. My girls have been breaking my Miele vacuums like crazy. 1200-1800 dollar vacuums I have to tear down and fix one a week. They lost a hose for one of my C3s, a new hose was $259. They broke a stick, that was $185. New hardwood head, $95. The kenmoore is $220 with everything. Bags cost $12 for 8 vs $50. It’s slightly louder, but not that much just a different tone. You can still talk with it running. If we lose or break something, it’s cheaper to buy a new one and use the parts. Or we can buy replacement parts for less than a 1/4 the cost. The vacuums weigh the same, function the same, quality is there for a tenth of the price. Will they last 20 years like a Miele should, maybe time will tell. But for commercial use, vacuuming 10 hrs a day 5-7 days a week in 30 plus homes a week. Dogs, cats, dust, dirt whatever, it crushes it.
i've explored r/VacuumCleaners a lot for this exact reason and the bare minimum for carpet is the kenmore 400 canister vacuum. you might be able to get away with the kenmore bu4050 upright for low pile, but i can't guarantee you're ever going to actually get any carpet clean without the power head. if you can go a little further than the kenmore, i strongly recommend a henry!
I have an old Kenmore canister (I don’t know the model) bought in 1977 that we still use and still works pretty well (47 years later!) Just bought a Kenmore 400 series as a gift and I hope it lasts half as long!
