Located in the U.S. Residential, with double coated dogs Synthetic Saxony medium cut pile carpet Multiple large area carpet + carpeted stairs Features: Bagless only Corded Upright Budget: $200 - $250 if possible Additional features: True HEPA filter or better preferred Hose and brush attachments and add-ons are preferred Manual pile height adjustment is preferred if possible Size, weight, and noise are not a concern Retractable cord, optional On/off brushroll switch, optional User friendly to clean and perform regular maintenance Right-to-repair friendly preferred if possible Life span 5 to 7 years+ preferred if possible I am aware that bagged models are superior and have expressed this to the person wanting a vacuum cleaner. It has been mentioned that "cheap" bagless vacuums may not be as powerful, may not last long, may break faster, and may not be easily repairable. However they explicitly prefer bagless, even though there are good quality bagged vacuums and used premium vacuums for a similar price. I am bringing the person to a vacuum store on Monday in hopes that an employee can convince them on a bagged vacuum. If they can't, then with the restriction of a corded bagless upright vacuum, I am looking for recommendations on the "best" that can be purchased. So far I am looking at the following: Shark Stratos AZ3002 - $250 Eureka OmniVerse NEU800 - $170 Eureka Innova NEU700 - $200 Kenmore FeatherLite DU4080 - $125 Kenmore AllergenSeal DU5080 - $150 Dyson Ball Animal 3 - $270 Hoover High Performance Swivel UH75100 - $125 Bissell MultiClean 2998 - $220 Bissell SurfaceSense 3418 - $260 Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 3774F - $270

The deciding factor came down to the cleaning path width, tank capacity, single vs multi cyclonic action, hose length and quality, easy of repair and maintenance, reviews, and price. Eventually it came down to a selection between the following: Kenmore AllergenSeal DU5092 - $178 Kenmore CrossOver DU3017 - $180 Bissell MultiClean 2998 - $220 The Kenmore CrossOver DU3017 was chosen in the end, the Kenmore Intuition BU4050 had been considered, but because there were bagless options available, the bagless was chosen instead.

We got $175 on a Kenmore upright as a trade-in towards an E3 at an authorized dealer. If yours is in good shape, maybe you can try that route?

I wouldn't put anywhere near that much money into a stick, then you can get your Sebo that much sooner. Just an FYI, also, we had a Kenmore upright that was in great shape when we bought our Sebo, and we were able to get a $175 discount on a trade-in at an authorized dealer.

While Sebo and Miele's are great vacuums, there's no need to spend that much money. Simplicity and Kenmore make really good uprights. That will work on every floor surface and are very durable machines decently priced. Sorry you had to deal with the dyson...

The simplicity or kenmore uprights are pretty good and seem to hold up. Section remains strong even as the bag fills up. Both have attachments that are pretty good

It depends on what you mean by “repairing”. Repairing usually refers to replacing a worn belt, the brush roller gets hair tangled around it on the sides where you can’t cut it and needs to be taken out and cleaned, and the vacuum can get clogged and needs to be cleared out. If you want to do any of that, don’t get a shark, because you can’t open them up to do any of those basic things that you could do on most vacuums 10 years ago. Look at a simplicity, or kenmore for plug in. Or Henry quick for cordless 👍🏼
