It's a bit harder on the budget side. Most budget uprights don't have brushroll shutoff. There's the Kenmore Crossover DU3017 $199, it's bagless but it has brushroll shutoff. The Simplicity S60 Spiffy $139 is a small upright stick vacuum that's great on hard floors but with no brushroll just ok on carpets. Problem is the Intuition, Crossover, and Simplicity are all of average noise, no quiet options at this price point. The 2 Kenmore have just ok reliability 3-5+years the Simplicity is such a simple vacuum it should last 4-5+ years.

I think you got it spot on. The Crossover DU3017 is a slightly better built vacuum and the Intuition BU4050 is better for allergies because it has a hepa bag and a hepa filter. The Crossover DU3017 has a fabric filter and a hepa filter and you'll need to empty the bin after each use. Slightly over budget you can get a few uprights that are both better built, have stronger suction, and equally good filtration. Kenmore 31140 Pet Friendly $249 is a powerful upright vacuum. It has carpet height adjustment, brushroll shutoff, hepa bags, and a hepa filter. Downside is it's heavy to lift up and it has a short hose. It's not too heavy to use. Prolux 7000 Upright Vacuum $264 is another powerful upright vacuum. It has a metal brushroll and metal brushroll and metal baseplate. It is average weight and lighter than the Kenmore 31140. It has hepa bags and a hepa filter. Downside is the brushroll is always on so it's not good for hard floors. I think you should choose one of the hepa bagged vacuums. What do you think?

I'd say Dysons are about average cordless reliability. Meaning their batteries will wear out in 2-3 years and when parts break on it you'll need to replace whole assemblies or buy a new vacuum. The worst part about Dysons are they cost more than the other brands but they don't last any longer. Avoid all Sharks, they break quickly and they are unrepairable. I do like the Dyson V12 Detect Slim. The other V10-15 are heavy and bulky. The V12 has a power button so you don't have to keep holding the trigger. But $729 is really expensive. I like LG cordless vacuums. They have an easy to clean cyclone assembly and removable batteries. The LG CordZero Kompressor Cordless Stick Vacuum with Slim Floor Nozzle (A926KSM) is $399 on LG's website is good but out of stock. It comes with 2 batteries, 2 powerheads, and a charging stand. LG CordZero Kompressors are good cordless vacuums so look around for deals. Even the LG's batteries will wear out in 2-5 years. If you want a more durable vacuum, corded is the best way to go. The Kenmore Intuition BU4050 $169 is a small upright vacuum with hepa bags and the Kenmore Crossover DU3017 $180 is a bagless vacuum with a hepa filter. Both have swivel steering, brushroll shutoff, and liftaway mode. The Intuition will have better filtration with both a hepa bag and hepa filter. My LG CordZero charging stand is the same footprint and height as the Kenmore Intuition. The Kenmore Crossover is only a little bigger. These are still budget corded vacuums they should last 2-5 years but they are much cheaper than a decent cordless vacuum and corded vacuums clean rugs and carpets better.

My Kenmore Crossover has 2 motors...one in the canister, another in the powerhead!! LOVE IT. Don't have to change heads for bare floors, the bare floor head snaps into the power head

Forgot to say.. The bare floor tool snaps into the powerhead. Since my house is about half hardwood, it's super convenient.

I had a Kenmore pet canister for almost 20 years. Got a new Kenmore Crossover Pet and LOOOOOOVE it. All attachments store inside or on the handle (crevice tool). Has a mini power head for stairs, a soft brush for drapes and blinds and even a ceiling fan attachment!! Consumer Reports always votes Kenmore a Best Buy recommendation!

The Kenmore upright will likely be the best choice in that price range. Bagged is well worth the cost of the bags, keeps the entire vacuum clean inside, very few filters to mess with like a bagless. All of our old Shark units still work reasonably well, but the filters require a fair amount of time to keep clean and the bin fills up extremely fast compared to a bag. Good luck...

i'm not sure why after using a dependable upright vacuum, you're leaning towards a robot vacuum? If you want 25+ years out of a vacuum, then the regular upright or canister is the way to go. You could just have the Hoover repaired if you can hunt down a shop and it'd be cheaper than buying a new "electronic" vacuum. Our home is 2 floors. I have a Kenmore and a Panasonic(same vacuum/different brand slapped on it) canister vacuum. The Kenmore is 36 years and the Panasonic is 25 years old. Both working without issue man handled by my two grown sons. Nothing broken, nothing cracked, just as shiny as when they first came out of the boxes. They just work.

We got $175 on a Kenmore upright as a trade-in towards an E3 at an authorized dealer. If yours is in good shape, maybe you can try that route?

I wouldn't put anywhere near that much money into a stick, then you can get your Sebo that much sooner. Just an FYI, also, we had a Kenmore upright that was in great shape when we bought our Sebo, and we were able to get a $175 discount on a trade-in at an authorized dealer.

I got a brand new Kenmore upright vacuum at a thrift store, normally 300. Its a bagged corded vacuum and the best. Stay away from cordless vacuums they are terrible.

The cordless ones are for a quick pick up and they will never last if you use them like regular a vacuum. You can honestly find some corded vacuums for almost the same price as a cordless if you shop around . I got a kenmore online for less than 100 dollars and there are vacuum cleaner repair places that often sell cheap vacuums.
