After looking at the suggestions, I have decided to buy a Kenmore. However, I do not know which Kenmore to buy out of these: The one at Walmart suggested above is the following: Kenmore BU3040 Intuition Lite Bagged Upright Vacuum Lightweight Cleaner 2-Motor Power Suction with HEPA Filter, 3-in-1 Combination Tool, Handi-Mate for Carpet, Floor, Pet Hair, Red W/No Lift-up I found 2 Intutions on Amazon: Kenmore BU4050 Intuition Bagged Upright Vacuum, liftup Cleaner with Hair Eliminator brushroll, pet Handi-Mate for Carpet, Hard Floor, Rose Gold Kenmore BU4022 Intuition Bagged Upright Vacuum Lift-Up Carpet Cleaner 2-Motor Power Suction with HEPA Filter, 3-in-1 Combination Tool, HandiMate for Floor, Pet Hair, Green I also found 2 Cannister versions on Amazon with high ratings: Kenmore 600 Series Friendly Lightweight Bagged Canister Vacuum with Pet PowerMate, Pop-N-Go Brush, 2 Motors, HEPA Filter, Aluminum Telescoping Wand, Retractable Cord and 4 Cleaning Tools, Purple Kenmore 81214 200 Series Bagged Canister Vacuum Cleaning Tools, Orange I don't really know the difference between these 5 options, which one would you suggest out of these for my purposes? Edit: I researched them a bit more and went with the rose gold one. I think its good enough for my purposes

Okay, Kenmore makes a pretty decent upright, the Intuition. Model # is BU4022 or the slightly more expensive version #BU4050. They're the same vacuum in a different package deal. It is a bagged vacuum which also has HEPA filtration, the best at cleaning the air. The power roller can be switched off. You might have to look around to see where they are available in your area, but I've seen them on sale for $220. The one down side is the vacuum is 11 inches wide vs your Bissell at 13 insches wide, so a slightly narrower cleaning path. On the plus side, it'll be a little quieter than the Bissell. Good luck!

Yep, and if not that then the Kenmore BU4050. A bagged upright with hepa filtration and good quality build for the money.

Good call, I was gonna say.  Check it out on Amazone, it goes on sale.  Many vacuums get worse with age, but not all.  Bagged vacuums fare better because their inner air chambers stay clean, unlike the bagless. The Kenmore has great suction and is bagged and heapa rated.  Better quality build than others in this price range.

The Kenmore intuition is a great option, I just picked one up for family.  Great suction, the rotating brush can be turned off, and it is a sealed hepa design. On sale I found it for 220.  It's a bagged version so no mussing with a dusty bin.  Only downside is it's 11 inches wide instead of 13 for large spaces, but should be fine in a basement suite.

Miele is not awful on bare floors. I've had 2 of them and currently own the C3 canister. You just need the right attachment for bare floors, a parquet. Kenmore is a good design but budget build, hence the higher failure rate. But they might not have the best tool for dusting, and the extension hose is a bit shorter. For dusting with the Miele, I'd suggest an after market dusting tool. So you could buy an "electro" Miele, which means it has an electric powered rotating brush for carpets. But it might not come with a decent parquet so buy this Miele part number: SBB 300-3. Then also buy this dusting tool, I have it and it works well: SUB 20. Not exactly the cheapest solution, but any Miele canister will last at least 15 years if you change out the bags and filters regularly. Or buy the Kenmore and it'll take longer for dusting, maybe you could buy the Miele dusting brush and and adapter ring to get it to fit. The Kenmore should last 5 years or more unless its defective.

I noticed that you now mention just having a couple of area rugs, I may have misunderstood your original post. I don't think you need an electro Miele at all, I would suggest something with a parquet tool and Miele's turbo head for your area rugs(Canadian Tire has some Mieles). Perhaps there is a Miele model in Canada that has both included, I'm not sure. That Miele dusting tool is a good one. The Kenmore would get you by if you're on a tight budget, with the proviso about dusting your electronics. I bought the Kenmore Intuition for my MIL, and cleaned out her basement with it. Really decent suction and performance for the money.

My mistake, this model does not actually have height adjustment. Kenmore's bagless vacuum, the DU1275 does have height adjust. No idea why they selected that model for the height adjust and not the Intuition.

Look into the Kenmore BU4050. I just bought one and absolutely love it. I’ve seen it recommended a ton in this sub as the best for under $200, if you’re on a budget

I have this, a miele, and a shark. I go with the BU4050 unless I am trying to keep it quieter, and I will go with the miele.

There's adjustable suction at the top on the handle. Works good at like 60 to 70% on the slider.

Same here. Got the Intuition 4050. Really happy so far. Haven’t had to change bag get. Bagged with HEPA filter is such a better experience with pets.

The 4050 or 600 series. The rest are missing too many features or compromised some other way. Which one of those comes down to budget and form factor preference.

1) The commonly recommended units in that price range are the BU4050 and Kenmore elite upright (great but bulky) 2) IMO yes it’s absolutely worth the premium. The Sebo is a commercial workhorse that you can use in your home. Plus it has a 10yr warranty if you purchase through a local dealer. I’d also look at the dart - some people here prefer it over the Felix.

Kenmore intuition BU4050 is a much better machine than this. You want something *bagged*.

If you can bump your budget - a Sebo dart would be fantastic. Otherwise. Kenmore 600 series or Kenmore intuition BU4050. You want something corded **and bagged**

Based on your needs and budget you absolutely want something **corded and bagged**. They clean better and last longer. Pick up a Kenmore Intuition BU4050 and be done with it. Bags are a small expense to have the vacuum actually work and last longer than 18 months.

Kenmore intuition BU4050. Bags are a ~$15-20 **per year** running cost.

Yes The hose is the Achilles heel. But it’s $15 on eBay and easily replaceable. Unfortunately, for the budget you won’t do better until you triple+ your budget.

Kenmore is your best bet. I’m not a fan of the 200 series (although it cleans well) it’s very compromised (short cord and hose). Look at the 400 series or 600 series if you can catch it on a sale. Or a Kenmore Intuition BU4050 if you like uprights.

Bagged is definitely the way to go. With that budget look at Kenmore. The intuition BU4050 specifically.

No. Grab a Kenmore Intuition BU4050

Kenmore intuition BU4050 or simplicity allergy for carpet then use the Miele on the hard floors.

Shark is disposable junk nowadays. Grab something corded and bagged. Kenmore intuition BU4050 is the best you’ll do for that budget.

Kenmore BU4050 or 600 series pop and go. Both are corded and bagged which is the gold standard.

For the price you really can’t do better. There are definitely better vacuums. But they cost 2-3x+ more.

Kenmore BU4050 then for sure. If you happen to find another $250 in your couch cushions get a Sebo dart.

Genuinely, none of these. They’re all junk. Kenmore intuition BU4050 for sure.

Pet attachment as you mentioned, and the 4050 comes with the “hair eliminator” brush roll. If you deal with long hair getting tangled it actually works quite well. (It doesn’t eliminate tangling) but definitely reduces it.

Avoid cordless entirely IMO. Grab a Kenmore Intuition BU4050

That’s going to be a really tough price point. Cheapest I can think of is a Kenmore Intuition (bagged) not bagless

I wouldn’t seriously consider any shark. They’re junk. I prefer the Kenmore version of the intuition over the vacmaster. the lift away is nice for getting stairs and furniture. Worth the premium alone. And depending on which intuition model they all come with slightly different attachments. I’d say use it and see what you need to add for your use case. If you have pet fur on couches etc a turbo attachment might be nice to add.

Either of the Kenmore’s. The Miele is an excellent vacuum but lacks the electric powerhead you would need to clean carpets well. The only other considerations would be a Sebo dart/felix or K3/E3. But those are likely way over budget(?)

Save your money, frustration and time. Get a Kenmore BU4050 and you’ll be happy with the performance that will long outlast any bagless.

Priced high. Just note, that canister is very heavy compared to its German counterparts. If you’re looking for something that’ll last awhile that’s new, get a Kenmore BU4050 or 600 series.

A Kenmore intuition 4050 is gonna run you above that budget and will be a superior vacuum to any bagless you look at. Stinky? Just replace with a new bag. You won’t spend hours cleaning filters because there is a bag.

Kenmore bu40xx models get recommended a lot. Pick the variant that has the tools etc (color!) you need like 4050, 4022.

I get that it can be a pain to carry around a canister with powerhead. Definitely best to vacuum moving forward as you go. But stairs. Have to learn the least friction pattern such as start at the bottom, vacuum 2/3 of the flight, move to the top and vac the last 1/3. Then continue on forward. Another less gangly option we used to suggest to people was to buy 2 vacuums. Solid upright for carpeted areas + solid straight suction canister (no powerhead) for bare floors and above the floor. Straight suction canisters are much lighter and easier to move around. Almost any one will do a similar job. Something like a Mighty Mite or the purple Zing are super light and easy to store and pull out for quick clean ups. A simple upright is also easy to store and pull out without all the bells and whistles, hoses, tools hanging off it. You could also consider an upright like Kenmore Intuition, Sebo Dart or Felix any of which can do all surfaces. It can be a bit problematic to use the hose with tools on an upright as they have a tendency to tip over. And unless they have a dedicated bare floor brush vs just turning off the brushroll, I don't think they work as well as a canister. I do think a canister with powerhead is the best single machine multi-surface cleaner overall. Above suggestions are all bagged and corded.
