Based on 1 year's data from Feb 15, 2026 How it works
1) The commonly recommended units in that price range are the BU4050 and Kenmore elite upright (great but bulky) 2) IMO yes it’s absolutely worth the premium. The Sebo is a commercial workhorse that you can use in your home. Plus it has a 10yr warranty if you purchase through a local dealer. I’d also look at the dart - some people here prefer it over the Felix.
Older sharks used to be “okay”. New ones are straight up garbage. You’ll be lucky to get 2-3 years out of it. You want something bagged too. Bagged vacuums last much much longer than bagless. And clean and filter better too. If you can swing the extra budget. A Sebo dart is an absolute workhorse. If not, Simplicity allergy or Kenmore Elite upright.
Skip bagless. They don’t clean well, last long or filter well. Kenmore elite or intuition bu4050
I’d look into a Kenmore Elite upright. Shark and Dyson are the two worst brands out there, avoid them.
Avoid Shark can be the one tl;dr from this entire subreddit. They used to be kind of alright (by vac enthusiast standards) but now they're built to break and [near impossible to fix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uEat894ywQ&t=173s&ab_channel=VacuumsRUs). $449 can get you some great vacuums. For pets, you *don't* want a bagless. They stink up and get unhygienic very fast. The Oreck Elevate Conquer is a great machine, the Kenmore Elite upright is too. If you want a canister, the Kenmore 600 might be a good pick. I'm probably forgetting some machines, but these are the best picks off the top of my head. The good thing about bagged vacuums is you don't have to empty them often, and when you do you're getting rid of all the dust. With bagless vacuums, dust gets on the seals, making them useless and blowing more dust around your home.
Kenmore 200 for a canister, Kenmore Elite for an upright
I'd look into a Kenmore Elite upright!
How about Kenmore Litening cordless upright vacuum cleaner CU7001? Light weight (13 lbs -- a little bit less than the Rewind), adjustable suction, hair detangling (good for dealing with cat hair), brush roll can be turned off, easily removable/replaceable battery. Price is right too.
I just replaced our upright vacuum with the Kenmore Elite Litening cu7005. It is really awesome. If you buy it on Amazon and Kenmore's site, you can order with two batteries. I vacuumed our living room multiple times without recharging, while using on Max power. I swapped to the second battery to do my daughter's room. I have no qualms about replacing our plug-in vac with a cordless one. Definitely more powerful than a typical cordless vacuum.
I know majority HATE Shark but we love our shark stick vac. The duo-clean feature is amazing on hard floors. I bought our Ionflex 200 so many years ago, refurbished, on Amazon. The battery is still excellent and it works great. I also bought a Kenmore Elite Litening 7005 (cordless) to use as our main vacuum, replacing our 15 year old upright.
Kenmore Elite Litening CU7005. Got mine at just over $300 on Amazon with two batteries. It's quiet and the suction is really good; not like a typical cordless vacuum. Plus, if they want to use the hose, you can pull the canister off the upright part and carry it around. I was able to vacuum my living room 3 times on max and my daughter's room with one charge of the first battery. The dock charges the vacuum and the extra battery. Edit: it was $290 total.
I love our cordless Shark Ionflex IC205. It is going on 6 years with original battery. I love the duoclean brushes and it has great suction. We just replaced our 15 year old upright with the Kenmore Litening. It has a 24v battery and I vacuumed my living room on normal and then put it on max to re-vacuum and it only used 30% of the battery. The listing on Amazon comes with two batteries for under $300. Not sure if it's available in Europe but it's worth looking at.
I got a Kenmore Elite Litening. Got it for under $300 on Amazon and it came with an extra battery. Way more powerful than our Shark Ionflex. (which we still love). We got the Kenmore to replace our 15 year old upright that melted the brush roller...
Go for Kenmore Elite upright, it works great for long hair.
You are correct that Sharks break quickly and then they aren't repairable. Some people get lucky and their Sharks last a while but when those break they are still unrepairable. Bissell has a lot of bagless vacuums that aren't any better than Shark except Bisell sells replacement belts and brushrolls. Then Bissell has some bagged and commercial vacuums that are better but many don't have brushroll shutoff until you get to some of the more expensive ones. For carpet and tile you want a spinning brushrol with the ability to turn it off. The Simplicity Allergy Upright S20EZM $250-280 comes to mind, it will be good on carpets but the brushroll doesn't shutoff so it's isn't the best for hard floors. The Kenmore Elite Upright $250-300 is a powerful upright for carpets with brushroll shutoff for hard floors, but it's a heavier vacuum. The Lavex 15" Dual Motor Upright $269 is a ProTeam ProForce XP1500 clone. The Lavex is a commercial upright vacuum with a carpet powerhead and brushroll shutoff for hard floors. The long cord is nice but a 50 ft. cord can get heavy. It's a pigtail connection so you could swap a shorter 30 ft. extension cord on it to lighten the vacuum. I hear they don't last as long as a ProTeam but it's also half the cost. The Prolux 9000 Upright $324 is a little over but also a tempting option. It's a durable upright with brushroll shutoff. Nothing really ground breaking. Ideally I'd want a Sebo Dart $549 but they are more expensive. They're a great option if you want the longest lasting, easy to repair, and popout brushroll for easy hair removal. What do you think?
The Sebo Dart is a great vacuum for carpets and the brushroll is removable without any tools to make removing hair wrap easier and faster. The suction is very strong and it's quieter than the average vacuum, but not as quiet as the best canisters. Just about any corded vacuum will clean carpets better than a cordless vacuum. The downsides of the Dart & Felix are they are top heavy, they have a short hose, and they don't include an extension wand. Alternatives all have tradeoffs. The Kenmore Elite upright is much cheaper usually around $250-300, it has great suction and carpet cleaning, but it's heavy and you need a screwdriver to remove the brushroll. The Kenmore isn't as well-built, and it won't last as long. The Riccar R25 and R27 are good upright vacuums too, the R25 Standard and R25 Deluxe can be $449 & $499. The Riccar R25 has a long hose and good suction, but it isn't as well-built or as easy to maintain as a Sebo Dart. I think the Sebo Dart is the best balance of durability with a few tradeoffs of a few less features.
For longer/plush/high pile carpets you really want a vacuum with carpet height adjustment so it doesn't get stuck or stall on the carpets. For pet and human hair I recommend a brushroll that is wider and easy to remove for cleaning. Short pet hair doesn't really get wrapped on the brushroll but long human hair will. You don't have to get a Sebo or Miele but they will be quieter and last longer 15-20 years, so you pay more up front. If you want a cheaper vacuum $200-300 they can clean just as well but they will be louder and last 5-10 years. U.S. Sebos and Mieles cost more because on top of shipping and import fees they have electric carpet powerheads. The Miele doesn't offer electric powerheads except for the U.S. and Canada. You don't want to import a vacuum from Europe because the plug and motor will not work with our electrical systems. The Sebo E3 and Miele C3 Cat & Dog are both very good for carpet and hard floors. The Sebo K3 and Miele C1 Cat & Dog are just as effective and long lasting but cost less because they are older models with a few less features. If you want something cheaper, Kenmore Elite Upright and Kenmore 400/600 Series Canister vacuums clean as well, but they won't last as long. I recommend the Sebo E3 because the brushroll is removable without needing any tools, which makes it faster to clean off hair wrap. Be sure to try the Miele and Sebo vacuums at a local store first. Many people don't like how canisters manuever and that can be a deal breaker. The Sebo Felix is a popular upright vacuum that's also less expensive than the E3.
The Sebo Dart is a great vacuum, that said, I find it’s easier to do stairs with a canister. The Kenmore 700/800 series are a great canister that should last a good amount of time.
I have been selling Vacuums for 35 years. I believe the best Vacuum I have seen out there is the Kenmore elite albeit bulky and heavy you will only find a Chinese made product with poor parts availability for less than 400, people wonder why we always push the SEBO product I had two people last fall trade in their X 4 SEBO after having it for 27 years
you own all the inexpesive stuff lol, kenmore elite is more of a real vacuum for 250
the kenmore elite more durable
kenmore elite is a good buy 250
very durable but heavy
My research got me to a kenmore elite. Ive used it for about a year with 3 kids and 2 dogs 2200 sq ft vacuuming every week or two (and shampooing) and only gone through 3-4 bags. Great for carpet, mid at hard floors, probably better off sweeping crumbs. I only needed it to effectively clean carpets, which more than half of my house is covered in. If you want a wireless one, makita sells stick vacuums that are amazing. The brushless stick vac is expensive and has a small filter but is fine for household cleaning if you're alright with emptying out the small tank. Great for hard floors, okay on carpets but I wouldn't use it for daily cleaning. The brushed one is great too, it just needs the cyclone attachment. I was really happy with the kenmore elite, but if you really need it for hard floors I wouldn't settle on it. The problem is that when the bristles wear out, they are very expensive because they are integrated into the seperate motors. I believe ≈$120 if I remember, cheaper than a new vacuum but insane for a brush. Bottom line was corded is cheaper & better than cordless 9/10 times, bagged is more efficient, powerful, and easy to clean, while being cheaper. Not having a tiny filter allows the vacuum to breathe. If you have stairs, or carpet, or hard floors, take that into account.
I have been using [this](https://www.reddit.com/user/Guccipig-07/comments/1qeqbo8/kenmore_elite_cleaner_vacuum/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) from kenmore for a while now and I think it would be a good fit for you. The "Pet Friendly" tag means it has a motorized brush roll designed to handle hair without tangling, which is great for your future pet plan. The Triple HEPA sealed system is its biggest selling point for your asthma and allergies ,it will trap dust and allergens extremely effectively inside the bag. The telescoping wand and included tools (like the crevice tool and Pet Handi-Mate upholstery tool) cover your need for thorough, above-floor cleaning.
