Kobold (Vorwerk ) - Kobold VK135

Former Vorwerk user here. IMHO, the last decent machine they made was the VK122. After that it all went downhill. The price went up, build quality went down, and the VK130 and VK135 I had were both plagued with faults that saw them constantly going back and forth for warranty service. I switched over to Sebo, who subsequently created a Vorwerk "inspired" vacuum in the Felix, and ironically managed to do a far better job of it than Vorwerk ever did themselves. Bosch/Siemens major appliances are fine, but I never thought their vacuums were anything special. Their attempt at a high end bagless canister sucked. The Athlet stick vac is a good performer, but when the batteries eventually fail, replacement costs almost as much as a whole new unit. I've always been of the opinion they could do a whole lot better, but their heart just doesn't seem to be in it. We do get Lindhaus commercial vacs in the UK, but no domestic models as of yet. I can't see that changing any time soon - Miele and Sebo already have the top end of the market, and everyone else is buying cordless sticks and Shark uprights. Their machines do look very promising, but I think they'd struggle to find their niche here.

I have the kobold 135. Such a good machine

In Australia it appears that Lux vacuums were sold by door to door salesmen. I was completely unaware of their existence. Last year I took up a job in which I cleaned using the client's vacuum cleaner. Sadly I encountered mostly Dyson stick vacuums which proved completely inadequate for the job at hand. A few times though, I got to use a Lux Sora vac. First time I thought "what the hell is this thing?" . Like a Dyson, it resembled no other vacuum machine. Unlike a Dyson it's design was to functionally enhance the vacuuming experience rather than to be different for the sake of it. Later on I got to use a Kobold and I liked it so much I resolved to get one. Found one for $50 complete. I removed the debris from the power head suction line and even though it is probably 20 years old it works great. People are "upgrading" from these to Dyson sticks so you can find these cheap on the usual sites. Lux reverted to Vorverk some time ago and are sold alongside Thermomix somehow. Unfortunately they have gone completely cordless. I have never used one but from what I heard the old green machines were the best.

Is your vorverk a kobold vk130 or similar? No need to upgrade, it's still the best!

Don't feel bad about the price, in 8 years you would have gone through 2 to 3 Dyson stick vacs. I have a vk135 and it's so much better to use than a stick vac, especially with the hard floor head. So funky!

Jeg kan begynne med at jeg ikke er objektiv, men med et helt liv blant støvsugere tillater jeg meg å kommentere likevel. De fleste trådløse støvsugere er ikke fullverdige erstatninger for tradisjonelle støvsugere, men mange har livets rett fordi de har egne bruksområder. Dersom du skal ha en trådløs støvsuger som erstatter den tradisjonelle støvsugeren bør du legge litt ekstra i det. En av de største innvendingene er at trådløse støvsugere har for kort levetid målt mot pris, enten på grunn av utslitte batterier, sprukken plast eller støv og sand som har «sandblåst» støvbeholder etc. Skal man ha det beste innen trådløse støvsugere bør man derfor sørge for at de har utskiftbare batterier, god byggekvalitet og aller helst støvsugerpose. Mange er uenige i det siste, men pose er langt mer hygienisk, og det sørger for at levetiden til maskinen øker drastisk fordi belastningen på filtre og støvkammer blir mye mindre. Skal man ha det som er «best in class» trådløst ligger Vorwerks Kobold-støvsugere et hestehode foran. De deltar ikke i norske tester, men har gått til topps flere ganger de siste årene i tyske Stiftung Warentest.- både som støvsuger og gulvvasker. De er dyrere enn Dyson & Co, men gjør den jobben du ønsker deg om du vil sløyfe den tradisjonelle støvsugeren.
