Whilst it's less convenient, I find a canister vacuum the lightest to work with, although you do need to manoeuvre the machine around on the floor. With a canister you're barely holding any weight in your hand, it's all down on the floor. For above floor cleaning it's the best experience, and then for carpets and floors it's also easy as you're only pushing around the wand and floor head. In terms of lightweight sticks I don't know too many really I'm afraid. Sebo balance and Dyson V12 are both light. I can't speak to the longevity and quality of either though. I owned a V12 for a bit and it was light to use but I returned it as couldn't justify the expense for my daily runaround vacuum. I own a Levoit LVAC 200 which is...fine...but does a poor job on carpets, it will really only skim the surface. I replaced that with a Tineco Pure One Station Five. It's a bit heavier but it does the job and I picked it up new in box on eBay for about £125. The self empty station really helps and it does an ok job just keeping things looking clean. However I'm not sure how long it'll last as some of the joints are already getting creaky and loose.

The Miele Triflex series stands upright for storage when you have it setup in the mini-upright configuration. It would also be compatible with the Miele tools you already have. However it is pricey and the dust bin design gets a lot of flack for being a pain to deal with. I've never used one personally. Alternatively on the other end of the price scale the Levoit LVAC 200 I believe can stand upright on its own for storage if you're in the US. Here in the UK/Europe we get a version that doesn't stand up on its own. I have one that supplements my Miele canister and it's fine for that. It is cheap and not very powerful (you can stop the cleaner head with your hand as it's just not got much torque) but it does the job for in between cleans and quick vacuums when I don't want to get the canister out and plugged in etc...

I just bought [this one](https://a.co/d/6FepZYz) today. I just finished using it, obviously I don’t have any idea how long it will last or anything like that, but I really like it so far. I like it better than my stupid Dyson. I have cats, cat litter, and my own extremely long hair and it did a great job. No hair wrapped around the bottom which amazed me lol

I know this may seem weird but I really got into vacuum wars YouTube channel.. and ended up buying a battery powered one based on thier reviews It was reasonable priced and does my 3k sqft house on one charge, carpet and laminate. The canister is small but if that’s my only complaint… I’m content for the price I havent used my Dyson dc14anim since I bought it just cuz I don’t want to deal with cords. (It’s from 2006 and still runs like a champ) I have two shedding dogs too. This is the one I bought https://youtu.be/rjB3_f0V0Oo?si=pyiX-faZtSJY9deP

Ive had this vacuum for a couple of months, and honestly it's pretty good for the price. I like how the battery is replaceable as this is the most common failure point for these type of vacuums. Its really good for quick pickups but won't have enough suction to really clean a carpet - that is what my Sebo Felix is for.

Got a levoit stick vacuum a few months ago and it has changed my life. I am a SAHM with 4 kids 6 and under. I don't have carpets we have hard wood. It used to be such a chore to vacuum and my big corded vacuum couldn't get lots of places. I now vacuum the dining and living room 1-2 a day and it's an absolute joy. Cleaning up under dinner table after meals is a breeze. IT FITS UNDER THE COUCH, BEDS, COFFEE TABLE, ETC! My house is so much cleaner.

I'm trying to find out if there's a way to disengage the roller brushes and still use it with the main head on. I'm seeing in search that no, you can only take off the entire head and connect an attachment for specialty vacuuming. Is that correct? Or am I missing a button to disengage the roller? If I pull out the roller there's no way to close the compartment so can't even try to vacuum without the roller. Rather surprised that user can't choose between roller or no roller because some fine carpeting should not be vacuumed with a roller. I guess I should've done my research better but for the price and all the many features I did see it didn't occur to me there wouldn't be an option to lift the roller, or otherwise leave it unengaged. My well used $35 Eureka quick up does. But it's on its last legs and discontinued so bought the Levoit. Can't complain about it otherwise but this is an odd omission to me. Any hope?

Two Goldens and an Aussie here…I currently am in love with this one: # LEVOIT Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, Stick Vac with Tangle-Resistant Design, Up to 50 Minutes, Powerful Suction, Rechargeable, Lightweight, and Versatile for Carpet, Hard Floor, Pet Hair, LVAC-200 I’ve only had it three months so far but I use it daily, at a minimum, and it handles the random drifts of dog hair beautifully.

I own this one from [Levoit](https://levoit.com/products/lvac-200-cordless-vacuum) and I like it. It’s a fine second vacuum and has some filtration. Handles hair exceedingly well and I love that it stands on its own. It’s also relatively inexpensive. I made the mistake of spending a lot of money on a cordless vacuum once and that’s something I will never do again. Even models from top brands are mid and have a pretty short lifespan.

I don’t use it as my main vacuum, just as a quick clean up like a Dustbuster. I have mostly hardwood and a few flat rugs and it works great. My stairs have a plush carpet runner and it does a good job of cleaning that. It will not work on my shag bathroom mats. Maneuverability is good. It’s a little floppy though, so sometimes you have to pick it up and put it down again to readjust the angle. Overall, I’m very happy with it as a small portable option, but I don’t think I’d be thrilled with it if it were my only vacuum. I read the reviews before I bought it and now really feel like the people who were unhappy with it expected the performance of a full sized vacuum and were asking it to do too much.

I use this vacuum as a secondary vacuum and it’s great, honestly. I’ve had it for about a year and it works well. I like that it stands on its own and has some filtration. I can do a quick clean of my entire house on one battery, although that will exhaust the battery. It’s also not gonna be a deep clean. Cons are it does need to be emptied frequently because of the small container size. Filters need to be regularly cleaned and changed out because it does affect the suction. Biggest gripe though is that it doesn’t work on higher pile things like bath mats, but I can live with that. The roller is great. I have long hair and it’s never gotten tangled. Overall, highly recommend if you need a second vacuum for quick cleaning.

I bought this [Levoit vaccum](https://amzn.eu/d/iD5Lz5v) when it was on a sale for £115, but I guess it depends if you can wait for a sale or not. It's excellent. Bagless, easy empty function, can use it as a handheld short vaccum easily (useful for cleaning the car), or add the extender on to make it the normal stick vaccum length. I also have a Levoit fan which is good, so knew before buying that their build quality was decent enough.

Cordless vacs are super handy for day-to-day cleanups (and for keeping cords out of toddler hands 😅), but I’d definitely hang onto your main vacuum for deeper cleans. I grabbed a cordless LEVOIT mostly for quick runs, and it’s been a game-changer for little messes, but it doesn’t replace the full-sized one. (I have pets, too.) If you’re still deciding, check out the epic post another redditor put together that [compares all the brands and models](https://www.reddit.com/user/lacking_foyer48/comments/1lj76h3/vacuum_cleaners_compared_comprehensive_datasheet/). You can actually sort by type, which makes it easy to line up the cordless options. Just be careful… some of them have really short runtimes, so it’s worth scrolling through the spreadsheet and comparing the listed battery life before making a decision.

Check out Levoit. They’re not on here but I got a cordless vacuum from them for maybe 200 bucks and it works just as well as it did when I got it 4 years ago

There’s no single vac that does it all except for maybe a super heavy super expensive traditional canister like a Miele. For an everyday hard floor vac (and light carpet vac) the best is Levoit on Amazon that's about $200. It's a Dyson-like machine that overcomes a lot of the longtime design issues with Dysons (such as, it can stand up by itself -- what a concept). But we also keep the Dyson around for a more aggressive carpet vac when we need it. We also have a Eureka boss -- powerful and dependable small canister vac. And a monster shop vac in the basement. Dysons are great but they're really expensive and their air filtering system is overly complicated and tends to lose efficiency. If you own a Dyson, watch all the available Youtubes on how to clean it with pressurized air so you can keep it running. Given the competition from newer manufacturers like Levoit, I think it's going to be harder for Dyson to justify selling floor vacs for close to $1000.

I can say the same for Miele, I live in Europe, you will not sell me Miele. Miele cordless sticks are overpriced, inconvenient to use and underpowered (good budget stick like Levoite lvac-200/300 will do the same job).
