For cordless vacuums I think an effective multi-cyclone system is a must so that the filter doesn't get clogged to quickly. Removable and replaceable batteries are also a must have so that the vacuum isn't a paperweight if the battery wears out or fails. Look for a brand with replacement parts available such as the brushroll, filters, and batteries. I recommend the LG CordZero Kompressor for cordless vacuums and you should add the LG Slim Floor Nozzle with the soft brushroll since you have all hard floors. Overall the LG CordZero is a good cordless vacuum I'd definitely get one of the models with the Kompressor lever because it helps empty the bin without having to stick your fingers in it. LG sells a bunch of different models so I'd look for one with a charging stand, 2 batteries, and the Kompressor lever. One of the Auto-Empty bins would be nice too. Even though the LG is a good cordless vacuum a corded canister vacuum will be the vacuum you want for weekly deep cleans. The Sebo K2 Kombi and Henry Allergy are 2 very powerful but quiet canister vacuums. The hose and tools will be much easier to use for above floor cleaning than holding all the weight of a cordless vacuum. If you walk barefoot, you can feel that a corded vacuum cleans hard floors more thoroughly than any cordless vacuum. So my recommendation is a good cordless vacuum and a good corded canister vacuum. You can get by with just a cordless vacuum but I think you'll really appreciate what a good corded vacuum can add.

I have the LG CordZero - HORRIBLE!!! Always gets clogged, never can use it for more than 10 minutes without dicking around with it. I'm buying a new vac which is how I found this thread. DO NOT BUY LG!!!!

This sub will mostly try to lean you away from what it considers a disposable vacuum and into a buy it for life vacuum. The difference generally being complexity in design, gimmicky features, no parts availability and no way to repair once broken. But based on your situation I think a “disposable” vacuum would be just fine. You can use it/beat it up for a few years, move it with you, and not spend a ton. Then down the line maybe consider a buy it for life brand. In that case I would recommend looking at Costco (either in store or online) and getting either the Hoover Onepwr or LG CordZero if you want a cordless vacuum, or a Shark Navigator or Shark Duoclean if you’re ok with a cord. Id personally stay away from Dyson as they tend to be the same disposable quality but with a buy it for life price tag. The exception is the Dyson Ball Animal 3 on sale at Costco right now for $280, but it’s very large which you stated not wanting.

I think the closest BIFL in the cordless market would probably be the LG CordZero. Aside from that you’re probably looking at a 5 years or less lifespan and maybe a battery replacement or two within that timeframe. If you really want a BIFL vacuum, you’d want to look into a bagged unit, and most of this sub will recommend either Miele or Sebo in that market. I personally own a Sebo E3 but also a Shark Apex. I expect the Sebo to last forever and have parts easily available when needed, but I’ve also owned the Shark for around 5 years now with no issues that I keep as a backup/beater vacuum for things I don’t want to use the Sebo for. But for $189 you honestly can’t beat a Shark Navigator from Costco. You can beat the hell out of it and not worry about tearing it up. And the Costco return policy/warranty will help bridge the gap of Sharks truly awful customer service.

LG CordZero. There are a few versions of it, but the one we have has been better (and cheaper) than our previous Dyson's.

It depends on your needs. I have the LG Cordzero and it’s fine for most cleans and pickups, but I have central vac for when I need a good deep clean. We have a mix of carpet and tile, and before this house had mostly vinyl and hard floors. I’ve just bought a carpet cleaning vacuum as well and amazed at how much dirt was being missed by both that just gets embedded. It really depends on your needs. Maybe just rent a beefier vacuum once a year if you want to get it very clean.

Checking best buys vacuum offerings was sad 😭 How large is your home and is it one floor or multiple? Tbh I can't recommend much from that selection in good faith but I've narrowed it down a little: Without those questions answered I can basically only recommend the Dyson Ball animal 3 corded (it'll probably last up to 10 years with regular maintenance) or the LG cordzero or Samsung bespoke jet cordless models. Those would probably last 5+ years (not including the batteries) and I genuinely like that they empty into bags, but a cordless is overall a pain for whole home cleaning. The Bissell revolution 2x pet pro is the best consumer carpet washer you can buy and they sell that, so that's cool. Maybe you can buy a good robot from best buy, a roborock, but that is less useful of a purchase with a 2 story home. Btw buy the roborock q revo pro when it goes on sale, as it's cheaper than $800 usually. Best recommendation would be to use the best buy gift card on something else and buy a Kenmore 600 series canister from Amazon for $350 lmao. (I'd recommend a Miele really but that's way off the budget).
