What you are looking for is the Holy Grail of vacuums and doesn't exist. I've been down that rabbit hole and what I've found to be the best compromise is the Lindhaus Valzer L-ion. It's made by one of the best manufacturers of commercial grade vacuums in Italy. It's not a lightweight stick vacuum, it's sturdy, durable and should last many years. It's a bagged vacuum so it filters better than bagless with no dust clouds when you empty it. It does have its drawbacks. It's about the same weight as many corded uprights and when you put the powered carpet head on it the suction is reduced to save power. It does have excellent sweeping and grooming of carpet and will pickup dirt/debris very well. I'd say it's better than any stick vacuum in that regard. It's battery life with the bare floor tool is 45-60 min and with the carpet head it is about 30 min based on my personal experience. You can look at it here https://www.vacuumstore.com/shop/c/p/Lindhaus-Valzer-L-Ion-Digital-Pro-Cordless-Upright-Vacuum-x83656935.htm and see a review of it here [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sexDDxHtvMo&t=181s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sexDDxHtvMo&t=181s)

There isn't one in your price range. The only cordless option that is worth having is the Lindhaus Valzer L-ion. It costs about $1200 though.

SEBO and Miele for corded. Lindhaus Valzer L-ion for cordless. The Lindhaus is the best cordless on the market right now. Beware it’s not a stick vac and it’s not cheap. Reviews of all 3 can be found on YouTube

Features that I think are important: 1. Durability. Machine should stand up to hard use for a long time. 2. Serviceability. Machine should be easy to maintain and clean. In particular, it should be easy to get to the roller brush, clean it, and replace it if necessary. It should be easy to replace the bags and filters. 3. Good filtration. Keep the dust you vacuum up inside of the machine. 4. Relatively low noise. 5. Bagged. Not bagless. Easier disposal of the dirt you suck up. 6. Strong cleaning power. Lots of suction and a separately motorized head -- good for rugs/carpet. 7. Ease of use. Controls should be intuitive and properly placed. 8. Variable suction and the ability to adjust roller height. I'm a fan of Sebo uprights and own an Essential G1, which has been a reliable tool for me for many years. I also own a Lindhaus Valzer Li-On, which is a cordless bagged upright. I've only had this for a couple of months, but I use it frequently -- love the cordless freedom and solid feel. This unit came with a giant battery and I can use it for a long time on a single charge.

I have a Dyson V12 Detect Slim for quick pickups -- I use it every day, sometimes several times per day. I use my Lindhaus Valzer L-Ion cordless bagged upright when I want to clean a large area.

Stick vacuums are not ideal for whole home cleaning. They are for quick pickups, getting deep under furniture, dusting, cleaning the car -- light duty tasks. For regular cleaning, a corded bagged upright or canister is best, as you discovered. Congratulations on the D4 -- it's a magnificent machine. I have a V12, and any kind of replacement part for it is readily available on eBay or amazon. I find it to be an excellent complement to my Sebo and Lindhaus uprights.

The best for deep cleaning with pets is the Valzer L-ion from Lindhaus. It came out with both the power nozzle for carpet and the hard floor tool. 60’ run time with the hard floor tool, 45’ with the power head. You have 4000 RPM with the power nozzle and this is the best in the market worldwide.

Hi, the Valzer from Lindhaus has been created for allergic people. It has Hepa13 filtration, the very best in the market. One other important thing for allergic people is the way out of the air using the vacuum. Usually, you feel the air in your face, and this is really bad for allergic people. With the Valzer the air will flow out from all the body of the vacuum minimizing the air in your face. Feel free to reach me for any questions!

There is one - the Lindhaus Valzer Li-Ion. But it's extremely costly.

I have a Lindhaus Valzer L-Ion at home. It works extremely well. It’s easy to maneuver, the brush roll on the motorized head can be turned off for hard floors and it has good accessories. Big battery too — run time is not a problem. Extra batteries are available, albeit expensive, so if you need to vacuum for a very long time, you could do that. Lindhaus makes durable machines for commercial use, and I believe the Valzer is a high quality product.

There’s cordless upright vacuums from Hoover, Lindhaus, Makita, and Riccar to name a few. The Lindahaus Valzer L ion is lightweight and durable. Downside is smaller bags.

Hoover commercial vacuums are usually cheaper but they usually have some cost tradeoffs. Cordless Hoovers don't have brushroll shutoff for example. I haven't used the cordless Makita upright but if you already have Makita tools and batteries it might be worth it to you. Tacony who makes Riccar and Simplicity has a cordless upright just for carpets the Riccar Supralite Cordless, it has no hose or tools. And they also just made a cordless version of the Riccar R27, this is your more typical upright with a hose and tools. I really like the Supralite because its so lightweight but it's so limited, no brushroll shutoff for hard floors. The Riccar R25/R27 I don't think is durable enough for commercial use. That leads to Lindhaus. Very durable commerical vacuums. I like the Lindhaus Valzer L-ion because it's lighter weight but it still has a hose. Personally I prefer a corded vacuum because then I'm not worried about run time and batteries. The Lindhaus Valzer Eco Green is the corded version. I read below that you sanitize your extension cords and I'd still choose that over the cordless version because of the extra power and not worrying about the run time. But I see where a cordless vacuum is also a time saver for you. My ideal setup is an upright for carpeted homes with a hose and tools if I need it as a backup. And a canister vacuum for homes with all hard floors and the main vacuum when I need to use the hose and tools. Add a turbo brush so the canister can vacuum carpets if the upright goes down in the middle of the job. Bring in 1 or both as needed. Both would be corded so I don't have to worry about battery charge and limits.

The problems with cordless vacuums like the Dyson V8 and V10 are they have much less suction power than a corded vacuum and they are bagless vacuums so when you empty them they release a lot of allergens back into the air. If you really must have a cordless vacuum I'd look at the Henry Quick. It's a cordless vacuum with pods/bags instead of a bagless bin and filters. Suction isn't comparable to a corded vacuum but it will filter better and be much cleaner. I would look at a lightweight vacuum with a hepa bag. The Lindhaus Valzer is very light for a bagged upright, it has a hose and tools, and the brushroll is removable without tools for easy cleaning. The best vacuum is one that you like to use.

Its the sheer amount of energy (continuous energy) used by a vacuum. It is why the battery only gets \~10min of use in 'boost modes' where IMO approach the power of good corded units. Some of the higher end units (like the lindhaus cordless unit) use bigger batteries to help compensate for this, but they still aren't the same. Maybe some day (well I bet it will happen) battery tech will allow cordless units to be as powerful or maybe even more so.

Lindhaus. You gotta look for them, but it’s worth the search. We still have, and still use, the first one we ever bought back in 1996. Actually we gave that to our daughter when she bought her own house several years ago. They are uprights, and do an amazing job on both carpet and hardwood. Of course you turn the brush off when working on wood floors. They have HEPA filters too. I believe they could suck the chrome off the bumper of my old truck. Seriously, Lindhaus makes a truly great vacuum. It sounds German, but the company is based in Northern Italy. Before our first Lindhaus, we had Electrolux, Miele, and others. None of those could measure up to the Lindhaus.
