Just don't. It's not worth upgrading to this one. They are more powerful but have terrible noise and bags just suck. Go for 284 model, it is quieter, much more powerful, it can skip a lot of cleaning and still be more powerful than older models. Btw, if you have trouble with cleaning thin cloth filter - try HEPA, it is much harder to clog with fine dust.

I have 2 of these 18v models, the dcl 184 and the handheld dcl 284. The best of them is the handheld dcl284, it has good power, enough accessories, etc. I also have the Bosch that is 20v that has a double cyclone and is much more powerful but it does require frequent cleaning of the filter

I use their stick Vacuum, I don't have carpet so it does work great for us. We empty it pretty much each time we do the whole house, but it's also not an assel to grab it for small mess.

We have the small vacume on lxt with stick snd it great for small jobs. And we have the big robot one (fairly cheap a while ago) and it is great but fir full price a expensive one. It will upgrade soon to the workshop. But for normale vacuming better get a corded dyson. expensive but easy to repair and great value.

The 180/181/182 are basically the same, just different switch designs. It's fine for quick cleanups in the kitchen, but it's not that powerful. There's a cyclone attachment you can get for it that makes it work better and doesn't clog up the filter as fast, but it adds girth to the whole unit and it's pretty shit anyway because it's friction fit attachment. It doesn't attach too tightly so eventually it works itself loose and falls off while you're vacuuming. The low tech solution is to duct tape around the pipe so that it's a tighter fit. Don't need to tape both parts together. Pony up for the 280/282/284/286 brushless and you'll be much happier in the long run I only got my 180 from a Christmas sale deal last year because I didn't feel like spending too much money on it. I kind of regret that choice. Don't make that mistake I did

I have the stick one with hard floor and carpet heads as well as the cyclone and use it to clean my home office. Works great.

I've got a LXT stick vac, it's amazing! I take it with me when I go away on holiday, cleans the car and even the camper! I've got a mate that just bought a Makita to Dyson battery adaptor that he says helps the short battery life with his Dyson...

works so good my wife stole it from me i got the 18v came in the makita tool bundle. used it for my truck for awhile then my wife seen and had the long tube she took it and use it for the house. it has better power than most vacuum i have a ton of 18 v battery that i don’t use. i transfer over the 40v and i think the 40 v vac has more power in my opinion but she swears by the 18v

I loved the 18v one that we use at home enough that I bought one for my jobsite. They aren't full fledged vacuum cleaners. They're a really excellent version of a dust buster that work remarkably well, for their size. That's all.

Cordless stick vacuums are all more or less disposable, even the expensive ones. The designs are updated frequently and are not made to be repaired, even if you’re able to find parts. I have a Makita cordless which should last a while for quick jobs, but it’s not very powerful. My home vacuum is a 15 year old Miele Swing H1 stick vacuum. It’s corded, but light and powerful, and the bags make everything so much cleaner and more convenient. Personally, I find the cord less annoying than charging. My parents’ heavily used Sebo Airbelt D1 canister vacuum is around 20 years old. Both work perfectly. If I were in the market for a new vacuum, I would buy a Sebo as they are super durable, easily repaired, and very well designed. If I were on a budget, I’d purchase a used Miele. If you want something older, vintage Electrolux vacuums are great once the inevitable deferred maintenance is taken care of. We have a canister vacuum from the seventies at one house and an upright from the nineties at another, both of which are going strong, and both of which have bags and many spare parts readily available.

For corded, I have an Irish Ohyama model of some variety I bought 9 years ago that still does the job just fine when needed (though we mostly use a Makita cordless these days since it's more convenient).
