To add onto what the other person said - HX2 pro comes with 2 batteries and what looks like a second brush for the power head, HX2 cat & dog comes with a smaller second power head, HX2 doesn't have extras. Consider which would be the most convient for you :) I recently got the hx2 cat & dog and love it so much!! Huge upgrade from my old dyson v6 animal. Doesn't tangle with hair as badly and having the engine part down low keeps it really light to use. Also, the little power head is so nice for cleaning up pet fur from upholstery.

The two “compact” offerings from Miele, which are engineered specifically for small homes with all hard flooring, include the Miele Compact C1 and Miele CX1 Boost. There is a like-new open-box Compact C1 on eBay right now for $299, but I would upgrade to the parquet twister floor head of which you can choose two widths - wide and extra wide. Seller: “Amber and Mika’s Store” …I almost bought it but decided to get a CX1 Boost, instead. I also have a V15, but man the floor head is so narrow. Feels like it takes forever to use it! Suction could be better, but it’s about the strongest cordless stick available, it and the Miele HX2.

I see the appeal of a stick. I have a V15. It’s about 3 yrs old. It’s primary role is for in-between cleans, small messes. Touch-ups. But, if I am going to vac our main living areas or the entire house, I can get the job done a lot faster with my Miele. If I am going to deep clean the carpet, I don’t pre-vac with my V15. I use my Kirby. If I am going to detail a vehicle, Miele. If I am going to use attachments for deep cleaning, Miele.

We’ve got a Miele Boost CX1 and it’s great (also survived being knocked down the stairs by the kids one time).

First, I will tell you they are NOT cheap for most of them. A shark is going to cost you $100-120, a Miele may cost $300-1,000. You DO NOT need any of the high end ones unless you’ve got a **massive** house. Second I will add, that Miele vacuum is going to last you 10+ years if you do upkeep if you buy the canister one which is the easiest to maintain. I’d say upkeep on them is maybe 10% of the effort of a bagless one. With bags it quite seriously contains everything within, you mainly rinse out the vacuum hose and wipe down the inside - then the main routine part is cleaning the bristles and what not. To remove fur tangled in bristles, take a box cutter knife and run it down the middle slowly cutting off fur that is wrapped around it (only any vacuum). Also note that these vacuums are going to be bigger than an upright one if you go with the canister. As far as specific ones, Kenmore is going to be cheapest and most efficient for the canister vacuum, around $200-300. Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly CrossOver 21814, Kenmore 200 Series BC4002. For Miele, Guard M1 Cat & Dog which is around $500. With all being said, the bagless miele’s are still great and around $350. The one you’d want to explore more is Boost CX1 SNRD0 - it’s $300-400. If you prefer an upright, which is still way better than a stick vacuum, a Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly 31150 is about $200 and will be great. Also, your current one may have gunk in the tub or chamber which is why the fluff is clogging. You may want to try cleaning your vacuum first unless the motor was running too hard / it’s old.

Miele cyclone. Some friends had one and we looked after their house / dogs for a couple weeks. It is insanely good. I’ve had Henrys. They’re alright but they constantly fall over.

Overall, Miele's bagless vacuums are not as good as their bagged vacuums. Their bagless vacuums only have single cyclones so their filters tend to clog up with dirt faster. Also, bagless vacuums in general are not good for allergies and require more maintenance than bagged vacuums. There are 2 Miele CX1 vacuums, the smaller Boost CX1 which is suction-only and the larger Blizzard CX1 which comes as suction-only or with a carpet powerhead. If you have low to medium pile carpet in small amounts the suction-only models can use a turbo brush. The carpet powerhead is better if you have lots of carpet or high pile/plush carpets. You can add a turbo brush to any model but you cannot add a carpet powerhead to other models because they lack the wiring. If you don't have allergies and only minimal amounts of low pile carpets the Miele CX1 models will work for your flooring. But they're messy to empty and you'll need to clean their filters regularly. They are nice quiet vacuums with good suction. $200 is a good price for any of the Miele CX1 models, they sell new for $600-1000. If you don't have allergies I would use this vacuum until you get tired of it and then replace. Or if you have allergies or asthma just replace it now for a hepa bagged vacuum.

Whoops, I thought you already bought it. I'm glad you didn't, the bagless Mieles are messy vacuums. The Miele C1 Cat & Dog comes with a carpet powerhead and it is the best model to look for. Any time you can get the carpet powerhead it will clean carpets better. The C3 Kona and C3 Cat & Dog also come with the carpet powerhead and if you luck out and find them for a low price. The C3 is more expensive because it has a longer cord and a tool compartment, but they have the same cleaning power as the C1. If you just have a little low pile carpet you might be able to get by with a turbo brush. In that case any bagged C1, C2, or C3 Miele can use a turbo brush. I'd say look for the C1 Cat & Dog first, the C1 Turbo and C1 Pure Suction as second choices. Miele's turbo brush is $150 and it's worth it over the generic tools because Miele's turbo brush keeps spinning much better than the generic copies. The Miele C1 Pure Suction is $400 new, so ideally you want to find a used C1 Pure Suction $100-150. The Miele C1 Turbo is $500, so around $150-200 is fair. Used prices should be half or less than a new vacuum because you'll need to buy new bags and filters and it comes with no warranty. Another option is the Powr-Flite Newton with Turbo Brush $171. This is a copy-cat of the Henry vacuums. It has strong suction but it's quiet. The Turbo Brush is made by the same German company that makes the turbo brushes for Miele. The Newton uses large hepa bags and has a long 35 ft. cord. Downsides are there's no automatic cord rewinder and the 2 included small tools are cheap.

Second Miele, even though it is expensive. Mine has lasted years with 4 cats.
