"The other head without the spinner is fucking ridiculously strong. ... I cannot vacuum a rug with it because it sucks so hard. I have to hold one side down with my foot and pull away and it's still hard haha."
"3 dog's and 3 cats with all carpet. ... that thing fuckin rips. ... it works too good and everytime I use it I have to take scissors and cut the hair that's caught around the head in the brushes but it's not the vacuums fault I have a fucking hobby farm on a carpet sooo."

"I’ve tried my families Miele canister when I lived with them and never got the hang of it. ... How do you manage the canister? We have a small space and based on my experience it seems like I would trip over it. Even when I tried it in a bigger place I still carried the canister around which was super annoying just to not trip on it ... The space is small enough that it has dead ends without enough space to turn around by pulling the canister. Is there a way that same concept can still be applied? We’re talking bedsides with only 1.5’ space, 4’ hallway with a litter box at the end, 5’ kitchen width with dead end."
"a bit cumbersome for daily use"

"The cord is quite long though."
What kinda cost are you hoping to stay under? Obviously nobody wants to spend more than they have to, but helps when giving recommendations. The 4 Best vacuums in my opinion are Sebo E3 or D4 Premium, or Miele Guard L1 Electro or C3 PowerPlus (the model name in the US might be Brilliant) - these aren't cheap though, and they're not cheap for good reason - they clean and filter ridiculously well + are really well built. Edit: Corded cleans better than cordless, and corded will generally last longer, sometimes much longer.
This is bad information. Yes, kenmore doesn't go through small shops, but this also limits the serviceability of their products. Kenmore vacuums are built "ok", but they have lots of problems with those non handgrip swivel, wire reinforced hoses. Not having a swivel at the handle is bad for the electronics. Connections / fittings are also sub par. And a lot kenmores have poor filtration because the Hepa filter doesn't make a good seal against the housing. I've tested the filtration with an IQ particle scanner. Also, kenmore vacuums consume more wattage - hence the higher motor wattage, but do they clean better - no! On air flow monitors, they pull the same as C3 Miele. Miele and Sebo vacuums are much more efficient. Miele and sebo vacuums also move around better. Yes, they vacuum fine and have good motors, and are better than a dyson, bissel, shark, etc, but a Sebo E3 / D4 premium, or a Miele C3 with the SEB 236 powerhead is SUPERIOUR! Also, if you're about volume sales, you can't make a high quality product. Something has to give. To get volume sales you have to price point, that means quality has to give.
"Conveniently ignores when kenmore got panasonic to mess with the hose wiring so that the new hoses wouldn't work on the old unit". They literally did that to make people buy new vacuums. Terrible. It literally has the same round fitting - like didn't improve the fitting quality at all - just messed with the wiring which improved nothing. Also, Miele had a grand total of 2 hoses that had issues. Funny enough, 1 of those 2 hoses was the hose that did not have a swivel at the hand grip end. Other than that, all of their other hoses last years and years (electric and non electric). I see way more kenmores with bad hoses, and not just them, all brands that have no swivel at the handle end have wiring problems. There is torque at that handle connection and something wants to give when it doesn't swivel and gets yanked while vacuuming. If you prefer using it, that's fine. But vacuums like that are part of reason stick vacuums are so popular. Most people do not like using those kenmores. That's just a straight fact. I'm not mad at all I can't sell them - because I sell people who do have them Miele's and Sebo's quite frequently. And hey if you wanna say the kenmore is built just as well, well you do you, but they aren't. The definition of a Kenmore vacuum is a cheaper vacuum that vacuums well, but subpar filtration and ok build quality, but limited serviceability. It's basically a "I can't afford a Miele or a Sebo, so what's next." There's nothing wrong with that, but it's just wrong to say it's better. I'm personally ok with loosing the sale to one if someone just can't afford the Miele or the Sebo. I'm just gonna end up with more problems anyways if I sold them a kenmore. And most people end up coming back anyways. Could Miele put a bigger motor in their vacuums? I mean I guess they could but why (unless EU regulations are in the way)? A bigger motor would be redundant to what's currently in it. It would make no difference. It has no problem doing what it needs to do. And again, on airflow monitors they literally pull the same as higher wattage kenmore motors in Canada. And wattage is just how much power a motor consumes - It doesn't actually translate into how much cleaning power it has, or how well the rest of the vacuum is designed. You can call me a liar if you want, I don't really care because I know what I'm talking about, and I don't care about what the brand name of something is, I just care on how it works.
Find a C2 or C3 model with the SBB 300-3 floor brush. Nothing will clean floors better than that. The newer version of the C2 is the Guard S1. The newer version of the C3 is the Guard M1. The Guard L1 is an entirely new vacuum, and is meant to be a lighter version of the C3 / M1, but the L1 has a smaller bag. Edit: they all filter really really well and are sealed systems, and if you add on the HA50 hepa filter (make sure it’s the genuine one from Miele as it’s H13 hepa) it’s top notch. Edit 2: the compact C1 is a also good choice, just NOT the Classic C1 (also known as S2 which is the older version).
The D4 moves really well, but yes is a larger vacuum. I have a 525 squr foot apartment and own a D4 cause YOLO. The Miele vacs like the C2, C3, Guard S1, M1, L1 will overall be lighter and easier to use. The D4 is essentially a powerhouse vacuum. The mentioned miele's will have the same airflow but in a smaller package. Miele's new equivalent to the D4 is the L1 or M1 / C3 Series. Edit: My recommendation would be the Miele if you're worried about the weight of the canister. The D4 is by no means bad that way, and I would 100% argue it's easier to use than some other brands like kenmore, etc, but the Miele's will be easier to use as far as the canister goes and may be more encouraging that way. Just make sure to get the RIGHT ATTACHMENTS!
For Miele, it’s would be a C3 series, or Guard L1 with an electric powerhead and good floor brush. Add the HA50 H13 Hepa filter if you want the best filtering vacuum in the world. For Sebo, the K3 is under $1000, but the more powerful models are E3 or D4 premium with the ET-1 powerhead (best powerhead in the world). This time of year being that sales are more likely to start popping up, a Sebo dealer will happily give a deal on each model to get within or closer to your budget. If you want uprights, Sebo X4 or Felix, or a top model riccar (riccar will have a bit more power, but I’d personally chose the X4 or Felix).
What vacuum are you using now and what is good and bad about that vacuum? There are many bagged vacuums that are lightweight. A bag will filter better and maintenance is much easier. Instead of emptying a bagless bin after each use and washing filters most bags will last 2-3 months and then it's simply removing the old bag and inserting a new one. u/actionvac-Box2165 made a great suggestion. There are several lightweight vacuums such as the Oreck Elevate and Riccar Supralite. These are super-lightweight vacuums that are around 9 lbs. They have their motor in the base so the handle is very light. They also have cordless versions like the Titan T500 cordless is a cordless version of the Riccar Supralite. Downside is the brushroll is always on so if you have delicate hard floors that can scratch they are not good for those floors. These vacuums also have no hose or tools. Many owners usually buy a small canister vacuum from Oreck and Riccar for dusting and cleaning above the floor. Vacuums with swivel steering require more arm strength to direct it so I actually recommend vacuums without swivel heads. I think the [Oreck Elevate Command](https://oreck.com/products/elevate-command-vacuum) might be a good fit. Oreck and Riccar are also sold at local vacuum stores so I highly recommend trying it in person first. The Oreck isn't a do everything vacuum. This [Lindhaus Valzer Eco Green](https://classicvac.com/lindhaus-valzer-eco-green/?setCurrencyId=1&sku=031207&srsltid=AfmBOor2bT7OpyoNUvXceudNiin8L71IKtkokKtEHO93ycRoj1UymZ5KOK4&gQT=2) is a more capable all-around vacuum. It's still lighter weight than most vacuums but it has a more adjustable carpet powerhead for different carpet heights and it has brushroll shutoff for hard floors. It also has a built in hose and tools. Downsides are Lindhaus doesn't have as many vacuum dealers so it may be a little harder to find local stores with them in-stock. Lastly, but not leastly a canister vacuum might work for you. With a canister vacuum the motor sits on the floor, you only hold the weight of the hose and wand. The [Miele C3 Kona](https://www.mieleusa.com/e/canister-vacuum-cleaners-complete-c3-kona-powerline-sgfe0-obsidian-black-10014580-p) is a very good and very light canister vacuum. The powerhead can clean carpets and hard floors and you can turn off the brushroll with a switch on the handle. It also has an automatic rewinding cord and the tools are stored on the canister in their own compartment. I'm not sure how well a canister will work for you as you do pull the canister behind or beside you so I think you should really try one out thoroughly. The benefit is when you are using the hose and tools you are not carrying any of the motor weight and you can use the extension wand to reach above you. I hope this helps.
What vacuum do you use now? There are a lot of Miele models, so I'll try to answer as best I can. For Miele in the U.K. the Cat & Dog means the vacuum usually comes with an air-powered turbo brush (for rugs), a carbon exhaust filter (for odors), and sometimes a mini turbo brush (for upholstery). The main turbo brush is good for low to medium pile rugs or minimal carpets. A turbo brush will make it easier to clean rugs than just using a combo floor brush. It isn't good for high or plush pile carpets, lots of carpets, or long hair because it has a narrow diameter brushroll that gets lots of hair wrap. This applies to other brands turbo brushes as well. I'm wary that a turbo brush will be any good on your deep pile carpet, its likely it will stall/stop spinning. Then you'll just use the standard combo brush. While I think the Miele C3 is better than the new Miele Guard L1 you may want a vacuum with a carpet powerhead and carpet height adjustment to work on your carpets. Not a lot of canister vacuums in Europe offer carpet powerheads but Sebo still does. You may want to check out the Sebo K3, Sebo E3, and Sebo Felix upright vacuums. They have electric carpet powerheads with carpet height adjustment, but you might need to swap in Sebo's green soft bristle brushroll. Hope that helps.
The Sebo K3 and Sebo E3 cost more than the Mieles because of the carpet powerhead and wiring. The Sebo K2 Turbo and Sebo E2 Turbo are the non-powered canisters closer to the price of the Mieles. I saw in your other comment you're looking at the Sebo Felix which is a great choice for an upright with a carpet powerhead and some of the U.K. models include the Premium Parquet Brush for dedicated hard floor use. You can use the carpet powerhed with the brushroll off and the height set to 1 for hard floor cleaning too. The nice thing about Sebo powerheads is the brushroll pops out without needing any tools for faster access and removing hair wrap.
All 3 are excellent. You really can’t do wrong between the 3. Personally I’d place more weight on the price, warranty etc between the two brands. It’s splitting hairs (see what I did there?) but I’d rank them 236, et-1, 228 in the order of cleaning performance alone. Like I said, they’re all great I don’t think there is a “right” or wrong answer here. The removable brush is a huge plus for Sebo. But IMO the Miele cleans better. However the Miele’s are not user serviceable. Also know that while I think the 236 cleans the best (by a narrow margin) it does have this awkward belt placement where it leaves a path of uncleaned carpet about 3/4 off to the side. I use that as a guide on how much to overlap but some people find it annoying.
The old ones yes do last more than a couple years. However, New sharks are an absolute joke. Disposable. A well built machine likely won’t have any issues in the first place, but if they do it’s easily repaired. For example I’ve had my Miele C3 for almost a decade and have had 0 issues with it. It will likely last another decade or longer before I give it to my kids or family. What’s your budget and flooring like?
I have one for quick messes and love it. It’s the perfect pair to my C3 (thanks to performance reviews for the tip) I believe both those models have the powered attachment point. It’s when it’s called the S194 is when you need to do your due diligence. Worst case, as for a picture of the attachment point. It’s easy to see if it’s electrified or not.
Check out r/vacuumcleaners As mentioned Miele and Sebo are top brands. You can safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. They’re garbage. As is anything bagless.
Vacuum wars is a paid shark shill and not to be trusted. Hell Chris even appeared in a shark commercial. BIFL vacuums absolutely exist. They’re corded and bagged made by brands like Miele and Sebo.
Miele, Sebo or Lindhaus. Check out r/vacuumcleaners
This is the answer! You can still get a Miele for only hard flooring.
Agree with J3ttf! The Miele is a worthy splurge!
Miele, Sebo, Henry, Lindhaus. Shark and Dyson are garbage. Check out r/vacuumcleaners
You want to ask r/vacuumcleaners. Miele or Sebo is the correct answer. Corded and bagged. Safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. Find a local dealer and take a few Miele’s and sebos for a test drive. Specifically the Sebo dart if it’s mostly for carpet.
Any Sebo Machine, or any of the Miele machines that have a power brush head would be a good bet. The Dyson machines are not at all bifl, they are cheaply built disposable vacuums, not recommended at all
We're on our second Miele Complete C3 Powerline and we love it. Easily deals with animal hair. We have two dogs and a cat.
Nothing to add except another recommendation for this machine. I’ve had it for over 10 years, it performs as good as day one (as best I can tell), and it’s lasted longer than the pets it was cleaning up after (RIP). It’s also travelled across the country with me twice, and if I move again I’m sure it’s coming with me.
I had a Kenmore. Terrible. Replaced with miele c3 powered. SO MUCH BETTER
Ugh the Sebo’s get in the chat again! He say’s Miele so i suggest a old stock c3 with a powerhead or a S1 electro is also a good choice with powerhead enjoy your Miele i got 3 currently enjoy them very much
Sebo’s are overhyped i’m very happy with my miele C3
Sebo’s are originally made for commercial usage they can be used for household cleaning. Miele’s are made for household in Europe they are the Mercedes of vacuums. They have features to make them more user friendly my C3 has built in tools under a special hood, touch powersettings with symbol, tools are more refined and the machine it self is nicer to look at in case you can’t store them in a cupboard or closet! Thats why I prefer Miele when using it in my home it doesnt feel like the vacuum operates me but I am in control of vacuuming with it following behind me. And in case I have sudden visitors at the front door i’m not like get that clunky ugly machine out of the room😂😅 so it’s more user prefference at the end of the day they both get the jobs done for years to come
Yeah true but for me it feels bulky and big the way the C3 is made its more long and narrow easier to pull along
Ugh the Sebo’s get in the chat again! He say’s Miele so i suggest a old stock c3 with a powerhead or a S1 electro is also a good choice with powerhead enjoy your Miele i got 3 currently enjoy them very much
Yeah sure Henry HVR 200 vs miele Complete C3 🤣🤣🤣 henry gets eaten for breakfast just like everything else in the UK Henry is becoming a laugh
This right here. I have a Roomba that is programmed to sweep twice a week, a Black & Decker stick vac with removable and rechargeable battery for convenient clean ups, and a Miele bagged canister vac with the electric floor brush for weekly deep carpet and upholstery cleaning. I also have a Vapamore canister steam cleaner for bi-monthly tile floor cleaning.
I'd go on FB marketplace and buy a used Miele or Sebo or any high-end bagged, canister vacuum. They're so worth it. Imo, bagless vacuums/mainstream vacuums all suck equally. They don't do a good job, cleaning/maintenance is not fun, and they break after a while. But if you can't get a high-end one, I'd just buy any cheap & popular shark/Dyson, they'll be good enough. (Just don't get the battery-powered sticks though)
